  1. Premier Taxis has announced that it will implement a 50-cent fuel surcharge to its fares, starting from next Wednesday Premier Taxis, which sees about 2,000 cabs, will start charging passengers 50 cents more starting from next Wednesday, in a move which it says will help its drivers cope with rising fuel prices. Other companies are expected to follow suit, but most said they have no immediate plans as yet to implement the surcharge. Mr Teo Kiang Ang, managing director of Trans-Cab, the second-biggest operator here, said: "We should [implement the surcharge], because fuel price is so high. We're waiting for 'big brother'," referring to the biggest player, ComfortDelgro, which has indicated that it has no plans as yet to impose the surcharge. Premier Taxis managing director Lim Chong Boo explained that diesel prices have increased by 22 cents a litre since a year ago, which translates to a $9.90 increase in daily fuel costs for its drivers, and the new surcharge will help its driver cope with the rising fuel costs. They are covering with this lame excuse when they know that oil futures are rising in part due to speculators and even with the largest oil producer Saudi Arabia promising to ramp up production if needed... If they need to cover their ass from the recent COE hikes they need to come up with a better excuse to cover up!!! This sort of news is enuff to make the dead stir... No wonder their big brother CEO have been worshipping some other ppl's dead parents Karma man!!!!h

  4. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1112147/1/.html SINGAPORE: Singapore car registrations dipped almost 40 per cent in 2010, as sky-rocketing Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums put off prospective buyers. COE premiums saw a record jump last year, with a 163 per cent increase for vehicles with engine capacity of more than 1600cc. Premiums rose 96 per cent for vehicles below 1600cc and more than 200 per cent for the open category in the same period. However, registrations for luxury cars moved in the opposite direction last year and January data shows more high-earners here are keeping up with a speeding economy. Luxury car dealerships are seeing more buyers, bucking sluggish demand in the broader auto market. BMW registrations in Singapore grew 21.4 per cent last year; Mercedes Benz saw a 17.7 per cent jump. Registrations for luxury sport autos have seen an even bigger increase. Car registrations for Porsche rose 48 per cent last year, while those for Ferrari went up a whopping 116 per cent. This compares with a 39 per cent drop in registrations in the overall auto market in Singapore. Karsono Kwee, Executive Chairman of Stuttgart Auto (Porsche), said: "I've been in the Porsche business for the last 25 years. Last year was a record year for us." According to luxury sports auto dealerships, the bulk of demand came from high-earners, such as lawyers and bankers. And these individuals may have spent their year-end bonuses chasing speed. Last month saw 97 registrations for Porsche, almost six times the December figure of 17. James Bond's favourite Aston Martin saw five registrations in January, compared with just two in December. Analysts said that with the economy growing strongly, pay packages for top executives will rise further, giving them more spending power. Pan Zai Xian, Director of Financial Services and Legal at Robert Walters, said: "A lot of compensation has been raised in the last year. I think last year has been a great year when people spend...like upgrading their vehicles before the COE prices come up. I think that's quite typical, in luxury brands we see that as well." And with pay packages expected to rise again this year, especially for those in the higher-income bracket, demand for luxury cars like these may just continue to go up. - CNA

  7. Hi all, I got an urgent problem and I cannot put a finger on it.During my 80k servicing ,I took up Star offer of their Castrol RS at $88.At the same time,I changed the oil filter to an OEM one. However,I delayed the changing of the oil filter, coolant and brake fluid change as recommended by MM maintenance checklist. Recently,I found that at 370 km my fuel tank is almost at the 1/4 line.Usually it will be around the halfway mark.My driving patterns is the same also.Anyone have faced this before ? What might cause this ? Is it the change of engine oil or other factors ? Thank you in advance. Cheers.

  9. Hi bros/sis, Just want to ask if there are things to take note of to increase ride comfort. Am driving a Jazz 1.3 with 16 inch factory rims. Currently, I have am at a tyre pressure of front 220 and back 210. On bumpy roads, I can feel quite a rough ride. What I don't like is near traffic lights when roads are rough, thats where when slowing down towards a stop, the car will shake from left right left right making it very uncomfortable. What advise do bros/sis have for me, please do let me know. Thanks (I am not worried about FC, more concern over maximum ride comfort)

  20. COE quota for Aug-Jan is 23,063 By Saifulbahri Ismail | Posted: 12 July 2010 1329 hrs Photos 1 of 1 Traffic in Singapore SINGAPORE: The Certificate of Entitlement (COE) quota for vehicles will be 23,063 for the six months from August to January. This means a monthly quota of 3,844, which is about 400 fewer vehicles than the last quota period. From April to July this year, the monthly quota was 4,238. These numbers are based on a new calculation which takes into account the actual number of cars taken off the road. The COE quota consists of provision for 1.5 per cent vehicle growth based on the vehicle population as at end of 2009, which was 902,337. It also takes into consideration replacement COEs for vehicles de-registered between January and June this year and adjustment for over estimations of vehicle de-registration in 2008 and 2009. The next COE quota announcement for the COE bidding period from February to July 2011 will be made in January next year. - CNA/ir

  23. Mon, Apr 26, 2010 AsiaOne IT will be costlier to use the roads as ERP (Electronic Road Pricing) rates for four gantries are set to increase from 20-100 per cent. From May 3 onwards, motorists have to pay $3 instead of $2.50 when passing the two gantries at ECP (Fort Road) and KPE slip road to ECP during 8.30-9.30am. This is an increase of 20 per cent. Motorists passing through the two ERP gantries at PIE Adam Road and Mount Pleasant will have to fork out $2 from 8-8.30am (for Adam Road) and 8.30-9am (for Mount Pleasant), a rise of 100 per cent and 33 per cent respectively. However, rates at two gantries will be reduced. Passing through the CTE gantry that is north of Braddell Road will be cheaper. The rate from 7.30-8am has been decreased from $2.50 to $2, a reduction of 20 per cent. The westbound PIE gantry before Eunos Link will be free-of-charge from 7-7.30am. ERP rates are usually revised when the Land Transport Authority completes its quarterly review of traffic conditions on EPR-priced roads and expressways. The next ERP review will take place in May for the June school holidays.
