  8. hi, i plan to go to JK Audio at Choa Chu Kang tomorrow to install an amp and sub in the boot of my hatchback. what should I be looking out for to make sure he at least matches the standard of most other installers? if he wants to charge a bit more for using these cables, i dont mind the extra cost. i just dont want to end up using unacceptable stuff and saving those few pennies. e.g. what kind of power cable, RCA cable, speaker cables etc? if some1 could mention a few sizes and models, i could just ask him to use those and let him charge a bit more. all i'm hoping for is a reasonable install at least up to the standard of most installers around. i ask this cos he gave a quote lower than most installers so i'm suspecting he'll cut corners .. i'm going to him not cos he's cheaper, but because every1 else is tied up with chinese new year.

  11. Dear all, would anyone know where the cheapest place to install stuff you bought from elsewhere? eg. guages like water temperature, volt meter, vacuum meter? this is concerning labour only. Also a question on water temperature - do they have to cut anything that may involve a future leak in the coolant system? not too happy if involve cutting. I heard that some are better than others, they don't anyhow do and don't cut, but just insert. thanks.

  16. Dear CFMs, [/size] Please pardon me as I am a newbie to ICE setups. I have recently bought a 4-ch 800w AutoBahn brand amp from a friend. I went down to the shop my friend recommended and was quoted $200 to install the amp under my driver's seat. And $250 to install in my car boot. Both prices includes re-wiring and purchase of what RCA wires as the guy at the shop recommended. I was abit taken back by the prices he quoted. I was on a tight budget yet itchy backside ...want to improve my present I.C.E..... I have totally no idea what RCA wires is about or how to tune the amp to blend well with my present I.C.E. Nor do I know what is right for the installation. I very scared kanna "cai tao".......I badly need advice about where to install my amp. Any effects when I install my amp in the front or rear boot? I am currently using a Alpine CDA-9851 coupled with Roger front component speakers and rear SPS-171A Type-S 6-1/2" Component 2 Way Speakers. Is the 4-ch 800w AutoBahn brand amp I bought at $100 kanna chopped by my friend? He told me he bought it very X.... I bought from him as I tok $100 is ok to purchase an amp. No experience mah.... How should I go about the setup? any Advices? I don't to go for installation and look like an idiot when asked how I want my setup to be. Lastly, I really need some good advice which shop should I go for installation. Please help. Sincerely, Burpmonster
  17. I know this is not really a performance mod... but anyway, my question is : where is the oil catch tank installed? i'm a novice here, so pls bear with me... Ref. a pic of my car engine bay below. The pipe traced out in red is what i can see coming from the top of the engine block and back connecting to the air intake. Presumably this is to return the blowby gas. However, before that, there is actually a connection (between "2" and "3") to another pipe that has the word "BOOSTER" printed on it. That "BOOSTER" piping leads to a wall behind the engine bay so i got no idea what it's for (brake booster?). I'm pretty sure the oil catch tank should be installed somewhere along the red line...is it installed between "1" and "2", or "3" and "4"? Or hav i got it all wrong...? And by the way, where can i get hi-temp hoses like those existingly in the car? My car is a NA, 2.0l CVVT Trajet. Thanks for any helpful advice...
  18. Was wondering whether post this thread in the ICE or cosmetics section. since most audio shops install reverse sensors and alarms, so here goes... looking for one which can allow me to detect kerbs bcos my rear bodykit is quite low. i usually need to open door, stick head out and look back to check for kerb clearance. looking for reverse sensor which works by 'beeping' sound and don't need distance display (which I think is not accurate for small distances anyway) any reliable brand or model to recommend?
  19. Hi Folks, any idea if install fog lights on stock civic can pass LTA check?

  21. hi all Understand that some bros here quite garang, ever DIY install gauges. My project more modest, just a volt gauge (used). Should be quite simple rite?... but i got some queries : 1. The volt gauge comes with 4 wires already connected. These are connected at terminals at the back labelled "+" and "-" (one each) and "L" (one pair). There is also one terminal labelled "S" but has no wire. The "L" pair i'm guessing shld be for lighting (which i will tap from headlight dimmer switch) and the other two for signal input (which i will tap from 12V socket). I can test out the pre-connected wires but does anyone know what is "S" for? 2. I also got a component about slightly smaller than 1 cubic cm in size. Dunno what it's for, but the previous user told me it is connected as part of the installation. There are 2 pairs of wires connected to it. From the looks of it, was cut from wires connectting to "L". What is this component for and shld i use it? BTW this is a Swoosh volt gauge. Any help appreciated. Thanks! cheers
  22. Hi Does anyone know any shop in Singapore that can install Xenon HID kits? I'm looking for no more than 4300K colour H4 high/low beam kit for my car. Although the US sites have more choices and better quality, I'm thinking of saving a bit if possible by buying locally. Thanks!
