  4. STOMPer S.S.Rajan saw a Silver Toyota Wish burning at Pasir Ris Drive 1 at around 9.45pm yesterday (Jun 1). The passengers had reportedly got out of the car before it turned into a ball of fire. The STOMPer reports: "This incident occurred between Block 747 and White Waters Condominium. "The occupants had abandoned the car without switching off the ignition. "The Fire Department came within 5 min to extinguish the burning inferno. "Nobody was injured in this incident." STOMPer Wong was also at the scene and the STOMPer snapped a picture of the inferno. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg..._pasir_ris.html

  8. http://www.straitstimes.com/GeneralElectio...ory_657477.html LOWERING land cost as a way to reduce new Housing Board flat prices is tantamount to raiding Singapore's reserves, warned National Development Minister Mah Bow Tan on Saturday. This is because all land is sold at prices set by the Chief Valuer, and the land sale proceeds go into the reserves. In the latest salvo on the hot-button housing issue, Mr Mah stressed that as the number of new HDB flats is not a small, any lowering of prices will inevitably affect the value of existing HDB flats. Mr Mah was responding to a call from Workers' Party chief Low Thia Khiang who had suggested that if the Government was prepared to collect less money for land sales, the savings could be passed on to first-time home buyers. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a ground-breaking ceremony for an upgrading programme for Tampines, which will see a new town hub with facilities such as a sports hall and a new park, Mr Mah said: 'When he says that I'm going to finance this by lowering the value of land, basically what he's doing is taking money from the reserves. 'It is not a matter of left pocket to right pocket, it's a matter of taking, dipping into the reserves.' Mr Mah declined a debate with the National Solitary Party, which has announced it is contesting the GRC. He said there is 'nothing to debate' as his positions on housing and various policies are well known. With the minister at the community event on Saturday morning were newly-introduced People's Action Party (PAP) candidates Heng Swee Keat and Steve Tan.
  9. thinking out loud from a 3rd party perspective 1) Huge popularity of NS vs TPL (on facebook) 2) looking at the initial footage on nomination days, where PAP get jeers and opposition get cheers (very evident in marine parade) 3) many expressing discontent of policies being voiced out over the internet forums (like MCF) and other websites, compared to those who are pro PAP policies 4) colleagues around you expressing discontent and complain about the current state of SG and policies, (of course, there are those who appear nonchalant or pro PAP) Less everyone get carried away On May 7th.. will they put their words into action? Or will they vote for the current government PAP, due to 1) Afraid they will lose their jobs due to lesser opportunities as the top foreigners leave SG 2) For civil servants, the fear that it will hamper their progress and promotion 3) For existing home owners, afraid that their property price will crash 4) For people who qualify for the BTO and have not owned a home, afraid that they will miss out on the queue just because they voted for the opposition 5) For all our senior citizens who have supported PAP all these while and do not see the need to change as they have already benefited from the bite fo the property cherry 6) For those that simply do not care with their nonchalant attitude and thus they do not want change My hunch is still many people will still vote for the PAP, despite all the talk for an alternative voice that are being mentioned online Having said that, I will be happy to be proven wrong, keeping fingers crossed and see, vote wisely
  10. Dear Bros, am facing this problem for the first time and would appreciate any advice regarding this issue. Car was broken into while parked at the multi-storey carpark. Time frame should be Sunday morning 2.30am till this morning 8am. Problem is that the alarm seems to be deactivated and there are no signs of forced entry. Hence I would like to seek bros advice regarding the following issues: 1) Is this claimable under vehicle insurance? 2) If so, how do I go about filing a claims? Would appreciate any advice. Thanks!
  11. i was at grand plaza park hotel yesterday near peninsula yesterday morning to pick up a friend and was shocked with what i saw.... the area immediately outside peninsula shopping centre was absolutely covered in rubbish of all sorts..... from plastic wrappers to unfinished food to beer bottles. worse was the capitol car park.... every square inch was covered in garbage as far as the eye can see... i thought it had been turned into a garbage collection centre... you couldn't walk past it. my friend told me the area is a myanmar ft hangout at weekends. it really reminded me of slums of some 3rd world country.

  15. Hi all, I parked at the loading and unloading bay while waiting for a friend, when a Sonata taxi while doing a 3-point turn hit into me. I think the statement kind of explains it all, so not much point in me repeating the whole story. Now the thing is, what should I do? To be honest, the damage to my bumper is almost... non-existant. In fact when I came out, I could not find where he impacted on me, and had to touch the bumper before I realised there was a 'rough' patch. For the taxi, his paint was visibly cracked but not scratched, though his bumper was totally intact. No dents whatsoever. I don't want to be claimed 80k
  16. The Stomper's description don't make sense. The damaged railing is behind the taxi so it can't have reversed in. Damage is also in front A taxi took a dive into a canal at Bedok Reservoir View yesterday night (Mar 16). According to STOMPer omgee, no casualties were reported. The STOMPer says: "A taxi crashed into the canal at Bedok Reservoir View. "No casualties were reported. "SCDF personnel arrived promptly." STOMPer curious761 also saw the wreckage, and says: "Today (Mar 16) at 8.30pm, a taxi reversed and went into the drain which is 50m away from it. "This accident took place at Bedok Reservoir View, at the carpark behind the coffeeshop 'Wei Xiao Bao'.

  20. Another hit-&-run case in Pasir Ris: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg..._the_scene.html Female Driver Bangs Into 2 Cars, Then Flees STOMPer interlink said a female driver hit his car at a multi-storey carpark in Pasir Ris on Jan 28. An eyewitness to the incident told him later that her male passenger took over the driver's seat and drove off. According to the STOMPer, he had parked his car at the multi-storey carpark and went to attend an event at a coffeeshop nearby. At the event, he coincidentally heard some people talking about a hit-and-run incident at the carpark and a friend of one of the organisers of the event had taken a photo of the incident. When the STOMPer looked at the photo, he realised one of the cars affected was his. He told STOMP: "The female driver of the grey car hit my car, the yellow Mitsubishi, and another car, a silver Hyundai, after coming down from the upper deck of the multi-storey carpark of Block 444 Pasir Ris. "She reversed after hitting the cars. "Her male passenger then took over the driver's seat and drove off!" One of the pictures taken by the eyewitness apparently shows the female driver standing outside her car as her male companion was taking over the driver's seat, before they both drove off.
  21. Chinese mistresses jump into the river for BMW ANN - Friday, January 7Send IM Story Print Beijing (China Daily/ANN) - Two 25-year-old women who shared the affections of the same man in Jinan, Shandong province, China, jumped into the Yellow River in the hope of snagging a BMW. The pair were both mistresses of a man surnamed Wang, who had separately promised to buy each of them a BMW car. When the two women ran into each other on Jan 3, they began to quarrel about the car. One of them said she would do anything for Wang and jumped into the Yellow River to show she meant it. Not to be outdone, the second one followed suit. A passer-by surnamed Mi saw the two women, one of whom had cut her leg on an icicle, and pulled them from the river before calling their lover. Wang, a construction supplier from the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, arrived at the scene with his wife, who denounced the two women and told her husband to return the BMW to her. An anonymous party reported the ensuing row to the police, who recorded the incident, and Wang paid Mi for rescuing the women from the river. This is so hilarious.

  25. Hi all, I'm someone who loves to enjoy regular weekly massages with my wife. We often enter JB for them, last time used to go to cheap and good but low vehicle security areas for thai massage. Now we found a good place with Chinese massage, would say it is much better as instead of using a wooden stick. These chinese masseuse have better massage quality control, low variation of techniques, only difference is whether hands are big or small and strength wise. Parking is a breeze as there are security personnels there who look after your car, either that or multi-storey carpark, much better than those small lanes. Made a few nice friends there also, the masseuse are all good to chat with if you know your mandarin well. I buy their 10 plus 2 free package, super cheap. Wife and I love the jaccuzi and sauna and free buffet food for all. Any one else who frequent JB for massages near the causeway have any recommendations? Please share. This place i go to is called Jiafu Spa, anyone knows too?
