  1. Bros... Anyone knows why some car ads the price stated is much higher than the prevailing market price? In fact it's even higher than a new purchase? Is it to try to get higher loan for the buyer? http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=489360&DL=1000 But wouldn't the banks check and know this doesn't make sense? Usually how much margin can Seller's try this tactic? Thx

  4. The Bloodhound SSC is out to beat the world land speed record, but it can't do it all on its own. The team is going to need a motorcade of support vehicles, like this specially equipped Jaguar F-Type. Outfitted by JLR Special Vehicle Operations with radio equipment and a unique livery, the Bloodhound SSC rapid response vehicle is based on the latest F-Type R AWD coupe. It'll serve a similar role that a pace or safety car does for a race, and be called into service in case of a high-speed emergency. The Bloodhound SSC itself will likewise be equipped with the same 5.0-liter supercharged V8, its 542 horses powering the jet-car's hydraulic system and oxidizer pump. The special F-Type will mark its debut at the Coventry MotoFest later this month (appearing again at Goodwood next month) alongside a '56 Long-Nose D-Type, the one-of-a-kind '66 XJ13, a '76 Broadspeed XJ12 Coupe, and the XJR-9 that won Le Mans in 1988.

  6. Hello friends, it is time for me to change as there is uncertainity around Mazda and COE here. Car is getting 2 years now. Since there is no obvious Japanese car for me this time (driven CRV, Cefiro earlier), thinking of exploring Conti for a change (my wife is holding me back from those contis). But, sort of convincing her. My choice is in the order they are appearing in the Poll. Thanks for taking the poll.
  7. I'm considering taking the untrodden path of diesel powered vehicle, and one of the more attractive propositions out there is the Jaguar XF diesel. Top speed: 230 kmh Acceleration: 0-100 kmh in 8.5 seconds Fuel consumption: 18 km/l CO2 emissions: 149 g/km Engine: 2.2 litre four-cylinder turbocharged unit, 190 horsepower (PS) and 450 Nm. Transmission: ZF eight-speeders Of course, there's the usual concern regarding diesel fuel quality in our neighbouring country, and the famed reliability issues which accompany every Jaguar model. Detractors aside, what the general opinion in owning this car?
  8. This X Type will be exciting I think. Will follow XF cue. http://www.worldcarfans.com/112112150838/j...n-2015---report
  9. http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=456797&DL=1027 Was looking at this car. Price was $29,000 when status was available. After status set to pending as buyer paid a deposit, price increased to $37,000??? Is this an example of overtrade?
  10. Who can list down or rank the status of most of the cars in singapore. We all do know for example a 7 series is better Mercs C Class, but i referring to a brand as a whole.. 12. Which car would you choose considering both are priced approximately the same, although the XF is a class bigger than C Class. The XF OMV is ~50k, while C Class is ~33k, but XF is 6 years old model, C Class (W205) is new C Class is a good car, however, the high profit margin imposed by the dealer makes it a less attractive option. Anyone can provide opinion on Jaguar vs Mercedes reliability and maintenance cost?
  13. Jaguar has unveiled more information about the upcoming Jaguar XE – it will employ extensive use of aluminium in its chassis, which is said to be the first in its class. Jaguar will use a new highly recycled aluminium alloy called RC5754 that was developed specifically for the XE. While the company is known for its aluminium construction, we weren’t too sure at first if the XE would get it. This is because its big brother the XF got a conventional chassis instead of an aluminium chassis like the big XJ. The benefits of using aluminium are obvious – just compare the weight of the XF 2.0 Ti and the long wheelbase XJ 2.0 Ti on CarBase.my – they both weigh 1,660kg despite the massive difference in size! Thanks to a body that will use over 75% aluminium content, expect the Jaguar XE to be one of the lightest cars in its segment. Because the engine has to lug less weight around, Jaguar is targeting to deliver a fuel economy of less than 4 litres per 100 km on the EU combined cycle for the most fuel efficient XE. The XE will use Jaguar’s new Ingenium engine family, which will also be shared with Land Rover. Ingenium engines will be modular in nature – they share the same bore, stroke, cylinder spacing, 500 cc capacity per cylinder and many common internal components. All Ingenium engines will be turbocharged and feature central high-pressure direct injection, variable valve timing and stop-start systems, and will also support pairing with an electric motor for hybrid drive. The Jaguar XE will get its global unveiling in a little more than a month’s time on September 8 2014. It will join many other other new entries to a market has traditionally been a 3-Series and C-Class game. How will it fare? We can’t wait to see how it looks like and experience how it drives.
  14. Just saw this on the MyCarForum home page. Jaguar. Official support car of HSBC Women's Champions 2014 , Enjoy savings of $50,000 on Jaguar XJ event cars. http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_promotionslist.php?pid=1066 HSBC Women's Champions 2014 official support car, Land Rover Freelander 2 from $179,999. http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_promotionslist.php?pid=1065 How does the above deals sound? The Land Rover Freelander sounds like a steal thought I'm not familiar with this car. Last year my uncle bought a Event car Audi A6 that was used at the airshow. It was a $30K discount only.
  15. Jaguar has just handed out details of its XFR-S Sportbrake - a fire breathing, 543bhp 5.0-litre supercharged wagon capable of dishing out a 4.8 seconds century sprint. Everytime a carmaker spices things up, people (like us) get excited. Moreover we are talking about a Jag here - who could resist a sexy feline that has just gotten hotter? Based on the XF, the XFR-S Sportbrake is Jaguar's first high performance, R-S badged estate. With that in mind, you can't help but to bring in more 'established' players - such as Audi's RS6 Avant and Mercedes-Benz's E63 AMG S-Model Estate into the picture. A quick comparison with the two Germans shows that the Jag loses out both in the horsepower contest and the race to 100km/h. The RS6's 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 develops 560bhp and 700Nm of torque for a 3.9 seconds century sprint timing. The E63 AMG, too, has a bi-turbo V8 - but bored to 5.5-litre. With 585bhp on tap, it will despatch the 0-100km/h sprint in 4.1 seconds. But we reckon you won't encounter either of these two on a daily basis. More importantly, the Jag has the looks to kill. Like any super sports car, the XFR-S gets larger-than-life 20-inch rims to help boast a solid, purposeful stance. Those side blades do look a tad too familiar though (like those on the RS6). And of course, part of the Sportbrake's appeal lies in its ability to swallow cargo while keeping up with supercars - up to 1,675 litres with the rear seats folded.
  16. Jaguar's plan to make a compact sports sedan is on track for a global launch in 2015. The automaker recently released a short video, offering viewers a glimpse of the new XE sedan. http://dai.ly/x1ewij3 The new XE will go head on with the BMW 3 Series and Lexus IS, as well as other worthy contenders in the compact sedan segment when it goes on sale in 2015. It also promises to be the most technologically advanced, featuring a lightweight aluminium construction as demonstrated on the C-X17 concept, as well as a new range of 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol and diesel powerplants.
  17. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/Tata-Motors-managing-director-Karl-Slym-falls-off-Bangkok-hotel-dies/articleshow/29426972.cms Tata Motors managing director Karl Slym falls off Bangkok hotel, dies TNN & Agencies | Jan 27, 2014, 12.25AM IST NEW DELHI/BANGKOK: Tata Motors managing director Karl Slym died on Sunday after apparently falling from a high floor of a five-star hotel in Bangkok. Slym, who was scripting a revival strategy for the company, had gone to Thailand to attend a board meeting of the firm's unit there. A company spokesperson said a postmortem would be carried out on Monday. Details about the accident were sketchy. Bloomberg quoted a company spokeswoman as saying that he fell from the city's Shangri-La hotel, where he was staying, Slym, 51, a British national, was known to be an affable and highly-focused manager. He was the head of GM's India operations before joining Tata Motors in October 2012. He was the first expatriate and the fourth managing director of the $100 billion Tata Group's flagship company, Tata Motors. "Karl (Slym) joined us in October 2012, and was a valued colleague who was providing strong leadership at a challenging time for the Indian auto industry. In this hour of grief, our thoughts are with Karl's wife and family," Tata Motors chairman Cyrus P Mistry said in a statement. Tata Motors has been going through a rough patch particularly as buyers shunned the low-cost Nano after its spectacular debut in March 2009. It's other cars such as the Indica and Indigo too have struggled in a market hit by the economic slowdown. As part of a restructuring exercise Slym last week had announced a voluntary retirement scheme to trim costs. Slym, who had a Master of Science in Business Administration from Stanford University, was not new to challenges. Between 2007 and 2011, he had steered GM India through very tough times. Hit hard by the global economic slump after the collapse of Lehman Brothers in 2008, GM had gone bankrupt in the US, denting consumer confidence even in India. He soon came out with an answer to instil confidence among buyers, unleashing the 'Chevy promise' campaign, where he appeared in ads with his hand over the heart, promising to offer free maintenance and service for all GM cars for three years after payment of a nominal amount. The scheme worked for GM India. Although, Slym left for China, his stint at GM India had come under scrutiny a few months ago after the government ordered an enquiry over the recall of Tavera. Slym returned to India within a year, but joined Tata Motors. In an interview with TOI last Wednesday he exuded confidence and said the company may be down, but not out. In what was perhaps his last media interview, Slym also told TOI that he was confident that the Nano would bounce back in a modern and young avatar, and had detailed plans for new launches. "We are confident of regaining our second-biggest Indian carmaker position as we move ahead with new plans," he had said. Besides work, Slym loved cricket. He was upset of not getting a Mumbai Indians T-shirt of his size ahead of the 2013 IPL final match. "His death comes at a time when the company seems to be close to turning the corner, with new designs and a new petrol engine family, which hasn't been Tata's strong point," Anil Sharma, an analyst with IHS Automotive was quoted as saying by Reuters news agency. Tata Motors recently introduced a new petrol engine for its passenger vehicles and has been planning to launch a new hatchback and compact sedan this year, its first new branded passenger vehicles since 2010. "It (his death) comes before his efforts bear fruit. We should be able to see the results of his work in a year or two," Sharma said.
  18. Premiering at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Jaguar's new coupe model will go on sale in 2014, offering buyers a choice of three different levels of power. The entry-level coupe and coupe S follows the performance figures of the V6 roadster range closely, but the range-topping F-type R coupe is much different. It uses the same 542bhp supercharged 5.0-litre V8 as seen in the XKR-S and XFR-S. It will do the 0-100km/h sprint in four seconds and on to a top speed of 300km/h. The car will go on sale next March, with Jaguar putting the main focus on the R coupe, which, the company says, takes best advantage of the car’s torsional rigidity of 33,000Nm/degree - the best figure yet for a production Jaguar. With that, the car is the most rigid production Jaguar ever and to make the most out of it, the engineers increased the R coupe’s spring rates by 4.3 percent at the front and 3.7 percent at the rear as compared to those of the V8 S convertible. Jaguar is proud to emphasise its second generation Electronic Active Differential (EAD) that works with torque vectoring by braking which is first seen on the new Range Rover Sport. It is said to enhance handling and make the R coupe more exploitable on the limit in all conditions. The R coupe comes with Jaguar’s Super Performance braking system as standard, featuring 380mm front discs and 376mm rear discs. With an unsprung weight saving of 21kg, carbon-ceramic brakes can be selected as an option on the R coupe and S coupe models. "Performance" seats, which have side bolsters that inflate under heavy cornering comes standard on the R coupe too.
  19. With its sights set on the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Jaguar could be planning a full range of models for its upcoming entry-level car - possibly called the XS. The XS will replace the X-Type, finally giving Jaguar a product in the highly competitive luxury compact sedan segment. According to sources, the car will also be available with coupe and wagon bodystyles (rendered images below). Jaguar's upcoming 3 Series and C-Class fighter seen testing and wearing a modified XF body is also poised to be clad in an all-aluminum monocoque body structure, similar to the XJ, to save weight. According to Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar's Global Brand Director, an aluminium monocoque is a first for this market and on this sort of scale, by the time they go on sale, the new saloon, coupe and estate will be the most efficient, refined and advanced cars in their class. Plus, the car is expected to be offered initially with Jaguar's small capacity turbocharged four and supercharged six-cylinder petrol and diesel engine. This will also mean that entry-level cars are able to emit less than 100g/km of CO2 without the need for hybrid technology. The baby Jaguar is scheduled to be due in 2015 and it sure is one exciting cat. Purr.
  20. I would like to know where to get jaguar spare parts in Singapore? Got into an accident today. Thanks.
  21. The Jaguar F-Type. One of the most anticipated cars in 2013. I was keen to drive it after reading all the great reviews from other magazines. After getting behind the wheel, there's no doubt that the car is as brilliant as they say. Slotting in between the Boxster and the 911 Cabriolet, Jaguar gave it great handling and looks. Turn in is sharp and it rides firm on our roads when set up for attack. The 374bhp Supercharged V6 is no weakling. It pulls willingly to the red line and makes one hell of a lovely howl when you give it the beans. Bangs and cracklings from the exhaust come as standard from the factory. Awesome. Anyway, enough of my ramblings. Here are more photos of it… Many options for corner entry.. Traction out of corners is not the best, which also means its fun factor is high. Meaty steering with good weighting. Dynamic mode and the loud button for the exhaust should be on permanently! Cute little visor! Lovely wheels and brakes. Corners flat. Top up or down, it's still a beauty. Read more about it in our review section. Special thanks to Changi Karting Circuit (CKC) for kindly providing their location for the photoshoot.
  22. This is probably one of the most spectacular-looking and second most talked about Jaguar concept of recent (The first, of course, is the C-X75 hypercar which, sadly, will never make it to daylight). So what's so spectacular about this, you may ask? First, it packs a 5.0-litre V8 with 550bhp, capable of catapulting the roadster to 100km/h in just over four seconds. Secondly, it is based on the ultra-sexy F-Type that made its local debut not too long ago. Then, there is the 'hump' which sits behind the driver, paying homage to the legendary Jaguar D-Type. A crash-course on the history of the D-Type: it is one of the most successful race car from the prancing cat (no pun intended), having won the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times in a row for Jaguar from 1955 to 1957. Till date, Jaguar has taken a total of seven Le Mans wins - hence the name 'Project 7'. And we reckon that this is one of the coolest ways for Jaguar to highlight its racing pedigree. Unlike most concept cars, the Project 7 actually runs. At last month's Goodwood Festival of Speed, for instance, the cat pounced up the hill climb course, beaming and basking in the attention of the crowd. Just in case you haven't noticed, the feline badge puts on a pair of shades on the concept - perhaps the marque's way to telling you that this is a real cool car. Production? Maybe not. But it certainly puts a smile on the fans.
  23. Hi Friend looking for some parts, any good recommendations? TKs
  24. Although the Jaguar C-X75 did not receive the green light for production, its twincharged 1.6-litre engine is still being developed and could make it to production. The power plant, developed by Cosworth, is conceived initially as an F1 engine. On the adaptation of the engine for a road-going model, Cosworth's principal engineer, Andy Ball, said, "We've being doing development engines. We're still partnering on this. As a road-going engine it could have similar specific power as a Formula One engine of 300bhp per litre
  25. The first works Jaguar D-Type, OKV 1, which finished second at the 1954 Le Mans, returned to the circuit for the 90th anniversary of Le Mans last weekend in a bid to pay homage to all Jaguars that have competed in the famous event. OKV 1 was invited by the Automobile Club de l
