  1. You may have seen or heard of the city Dubai for its flashy supercars, weird car makeovers and extreme drifting events. But despite being provided with top notch infrastructure, they also like big and bulky SUV's. Maybe because they are surrounded by desert, or petrol is cheap there, or they simply have the money and do not know what to do with it. Regardless being a city surrounded by sand, Dubai is an ideal place for hot weather vehicle tests and the sandy dunes would be ideal for all-wheel drive testing as well. Bearing this in mind, Jaguar Land Rover further enhanced its Middle East test programme by opening a new engineering test centre in Dubai to conduct extreme hot weather vehicle research, development and testing. Temperatures in the desert typically reaching up to 50 degrees Celsius in the summer months. According to Google, its 34 degrees Celsius in Singapore today and I nearly died trying to cross the road after lunch. The new 11,120 sq. ft. facility in the Al Barsha area of Dubai, replaces an existing smaller facility, and will offer a comprehensive range of tests including durability, calibration and hot weather testing for heat and humidity. The engineering team at the new centre will also test powertrains, chassis and heat and ventilation systems, as well as the off-road and sand driving capability of Land Rover's unique Terrain Response system. Including Dubai, Jaguar Land Rover has a network of five global test facilities at Nurburgring in Germany, Arjeplog in Sweden, Phoenix and International Falls in the U.S.A. Jaguar Land Rover Director of Engineering Technical Services Martyn Hollingsworth said, "Jaguar Land Rover has ambitious plans for growth, and since 2008 we have been investing to enhance our engineering capability to help us deliver an unprecedented number of new and refreshed Jaguar and Land Rover models." He continued, "Our new facility in Dubai is four times the size of the previous test centre and will enable us to enhance our testing of future products and technologies. The engineering team is focused on the quality and durability of our products and an important part of this is rigorous environmental testing of our vehicles to ensure they can withstand even the harshest conditions." Robin Colgan, Managing Director Jaguar Land Rover MENA (Middle East and North Africa) added, "Dubai offers some unique and very challenging environmental conditions, so if a vehicle passes our tests here we know it will perform in any hot weather environment. The new facility will be crucial to the company's continued success as every model for the European and MENA markets will be certified here in Dubai following thorough testing before going into global production." Dubai is one of the seven emirates that makes up the UAE and has the largest population and second largest land mass after the capital city of Abu Dhabi. It has the tallest building in the world – the Burj Al-Khalifa - where Tom Cruise was dangling out of in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.
  2. Well here it is - the first accident involving the chic looking all-new Jaguar F-Type roadster which will not be available till later this year. Sadly any information regarding the crash are not available and from the picture it is kinda obvious the front end needs many hours of repair. Apparently the crash happened during a comparison test between the Jaguar F-Type and two other cars. Thankfully no one was injured, except the car. Hey cars have feelings too ok? The Jaguar F-Type, is the successor to the famous Jaguar E-Type and will enter production in a couple of months.

According to global brand director Adrian Hallmark, the decision was made due to the ongoing global economic crisis. "We feel we could make the car work, but looking at the global austerity measures in place now, it seems the wrong time to launch an

  7. Are you a new millionaire, a drug dealer, part of the mafia or someone who turned into an instant VIP thanks to a video you uploaded on youTube? Well it is time to get an armored car then if you value your life. Sure you will have bodyguards and all but they are good till you are outside the car, not in. Obviously this is for people whom are not residing in Singapore, because I mean, seriously.. how threatened do you feel here? Armoured cars are like vast, heavy tanks with wheels that can be driven with anyone who holds a class 3 license. They are certified to stop anything from poisoned gas to IEDs. The idea of armoured cars are simple. It's basically a normal car fitted with lots of Kevlar, titanium , thick glass, run flat tyres and stuff. Having said that do not make your own because there are established luxury automakers whom are more than capable. So lets start shall we? The Audi A8 L Security can hit 100km/h in 7s thanks to its 6.3-litre W12 engine that produces 500bhp and 624Nm of torque. The car can withstand shots from high-powered rifles and blasts from IEDs and hand grenades. The cabin can pump fresh air during the event of a chemical attack and a button has been installed to make it easier to knock out the heavily armored doors. Most armored cars are subtle but this $8 million Rolls-Royce Phantom EWB is unlike most armored cars. It can withstand blasts from grenades and bullets from AK-47s despite being covered in 120kg worth of gold. Want something a little British? How about the Jaguar XJ Sentinel, besides Land Rovers are mainly used by Mafia's anyway, we need class right? It can withstand a blast from up to 14kg of TNT in addition to offering protection from assault rifles and machine guns. Performance wise the 3.2tonne leaping cat is powered by a 385bhp 5.0-litre V8 that hits 100km/h in under 10 seconds. RENNtech decided to tune the Mercedes-Benz S600 Guard to make it easier to escape from danger. The ECU was redone; a carbon fiber airbox was added and the intercooler pump was substantially strengthened. All told the S600 Guard now has 640bhp, up from 517bhp, and 1049Nm of torque. The Maybach 62 Guard is a massive luxury sedan has been beefed up by an additional 408kg worth of steel and Kevlar reinforcements. Despite the heft, the Maybach's twin-turbo V12 can still hit 100km/h in 5.7 seconds before maxing out to an electronically limited top speed of 249km/h. Picture Credit: CarBuzz

  10. Jaguar has an idea for an electric roadster that would blend classic lines with modern aerodynamics and cutting-edge energy feedback. The idea is to revive the timeless design language of the stunning E-type of the 1960s while integrating new aerodynamics tailored around an electric powerplant. Being an EV, the designers could concentrate more on aerodynamics due to smaller dimensions of the engine and flexibility of the battery's placement. The result is widening the side deflectors of the front intakes, allowing air to flow behind the front wheels. The air then slides along the doors, through the rear wheels and out from the huge rear openings. This results in a reduction in the total flow path and drag. The leaping jaguar logo is the inspiration for the profile, with aggressively styled front headlights. A cool feature are the folding side mirrors that disappear into the body and unfold once it turns on, besides a KERS like regenerative power system. Almost 60 percent of energy used by a car at highway speeds are spent countering air friction. As such a layer of microscopic ripples of piezoelectric cells, covers the body of the XKX concept which produces electricity that it feeds to the vehicle's battery. I like the idea Jaguar has implemented to improve aerodynamics as much as possible, but I wouldn't call the car exactly a looker. Also, personally I do not see any resemblance to the beautiful Jaguar E-Type besides the mild bulge on the hood. What do you guys think?
  11. [extract] Back in November 2011, during the Los Angeles Auto Show, Jaguar showcased a two-door sports car concept known as the C-X16 Concept. The company received numerous positive feedbacks about the car and this has made Jaguar to push the car into production. And the car you see in the picture above will be known as the Jaguar F-Type. The car will be available by early 2013 in roadster form first and a coupe version will follow suit later on. The car

  14. Hi guys, I am doing a research on Jaguar automotive, & would be glad if you guys can contribute on your impression & knowledge of Jaguar (the automaker, not the dealer, Malayan Motors) Some of the things to trigger your mind are - How does it compare to its rival like BMW, Merc, Audi, Lexus, in your view. - Would you buy one, why? - Discuss on what do think of its current lineup & what it should include in future? Engine choice (Turbo charge, Hybrid, full electric, drivetrain (AWD, RWD, or even FWD), tranmission - Discuss on its history & prestige - Should it needs a Halo car like R8, , LFA, SLS in its current ? - Any others that I missed. Just so you guys know, this is not just a internet discussion, but part of a presentation I will bring with me to Coventry in July, & I really appreciate everyone's input. Cheers.

  16. Hi everyone, someone wrote this on one of the early forum. How true is this? Jag XF owners-care to comment?
  17. In the Middle East, where some of the richest people on this planet live, super cars are left abandoned in the desert under the hot scorching sun. Why are these cars left to rot under severe temperatures and harsh weather conditions? Let us unveil the story behind these once magnificent rides. One of the reasons behind this is failed entrepreneurship. The picture above shows a Ferrari Enzo in a police impound lot. This is where cars of failed entrepreneurs end up. Some might think that it just need some wash and wax and a through interior tidy up. But by looking at the amount of sand and dust, including the hot temperature the car has been exposed to every single day, nobody can truly guess the impact of damage it had gone through. Only 400 units of the Enzo were ever produced. Fitted with a 6.0 litre V12 engine and a six-speed F1 styled transmission, with shift paddles. It produces 651 bhp at 7800 rpm and 657 N m of torque at 5500 rpm. If Enzo Ferrari is still alive today, this would probably break his heart. The next example shown above is the Jaguar XJ220. It was found abandoned in a Qatari desert. This car was originally sold in Dubai and was last seen in Beirut about six years ago. It was found with only 560 miles on the clock. Once known as the rarest car on this planet, has now left to rot in a desert. The Jaguar was most probably abandoned due to the same reasons as the Ferrari. It was, at one time, the world's fastest production car. A total of 281 XJ220 were made. Comes with a 3.5 litre twin turbocharged V6 engine and 5 speed manual transmission. It produces 542 bhp at 7000 rpm and 645 N m of torque at 4500 rpm. With these cars being really super rare and even if someone has the money to buy one right now, he or she has to wait for someone to let go of it. And when that time comes, the price would be in the millions. I wonder who the cars

  21. The 1960s Jaguar Mk 2 is an icon of automotive styling. It was a favourite for gangsters and bank robbers in the U.K. in its heydays because it was fast and handled well. The favourite was the 3.8liter version as it could outrun the outdated Rovers used by the British Police then. Until the police themselves started using it that is. The Mk 2 especially on chrome wire wheels looked especially good and hit all the right notes when it came to the styling. Its styling was so liked that Jaguar based its late 1990s S-type on this car. But it didn't look right as it was too retro looking for its own good. Anyway, due to its everlasting popularity, the Mk 2 is a favourite among classic car enthusiasts as well as among Jaguar collectors. Due to this, there is a few companies in the UK like Eagle, that cater to the refurbishment as well as 'upgrading' of this Jag utilizing engines from newer Jaguars as well as modern brakes and other equipment. However a company in New Zealand had caught my eye, offering the same services for Jaguar collectors in this part of the world. Beacham started off as restorers of these cars, then started upgrading them with the more modern technology of newer Jaguars. Their specialty seems to be Supercharged V8 cars using the Mk 2 base engine. To date more than 200 MK2's have been delivered to customers by the company. The company states that their cars
  22. Almost a year after the announcement on the development of a police package for the new Jaguar XF, the first ever pursuit versions of the British saloon are about to go on patrol across the Midlands. The Central Motorway Police Group, which patrols motorways across Staffordshire, Mercia and the West Midlands, has bought seven high performance Police-spec XFs. All are based on the Diesel S model that features a 3.0-liter unit, churning out 275-horsepower and 443lb-ft of peak torque while still returning 42mpg UK and a CO2 rating of 179 g/km. Geoff Cousins, Managing Director for Jaguar Cars UK, said: "Police forces across the country have been evaluating the XF and we are delighted that the team at the Central Motorway Police Group has chosen Jaguar to join its fleet." The police-spec XFs get a special package that includes a roof mounted light bar with 3600 blue flashing lights and integrated side alley lights, blue and white flashing LED lights inside the front grille, side mounted blue flashing LED lights, blue and red flashing LED lights integrated in the rear light clusters and a Home Office-specification electronics 'Police pack'. The seven Jaguar XFs will be put to work immediately throughout the Midlands.
