  1. Any prediction on COE for 1st bidding exercise in June? With the new Minister for transport, will there be a change? A new formula to calculate COE quota? Do away with COE but more ERP? Any contributor are welcome.
  2. Hi all, we managed to get 30 tickets to this year
  3. Hi, Just wondering if anyone is aware of reasonably priced rental options (e.g. monthly rates?)? Most of the sites like Hertz and Avis seem to offer pretty expensive weekly rates only. This is for a Singaporean with a local driving license, and for driving within Singapore only. Looking to rent a Camry 2.0 or similar. Regards,
  4. This event may interest some enthusiasts out there. http://www.flamezgraphics.com/Dexperience.html Basically three of the Formula Drift Singapore team drifters from Falken will be conducting a full day drift class for beginners. Just got this in my email today, thought i'll share it with fellow enthusiasts. Option of renting a drift car or bringing your own (ideally) RWD manual car. Sounds like some serious tyre burning fun, heehee...
  5. Hi, Need some advise here. What do you think of the COE on the 23rd of June? Will it increase or decrease?? Currently I have a few options. My SE got a open COE from the previous bidding and now offering me at a top up price of $3k. If not, I shall wait for the next COE and hopefully it will go down to avoid the $3k top up. Beside the 2 options, I can also get a guarantee COE and hope that COE will drop and I get the rebate out of it. However I guess the bottomline is whether COE will continue to increase or will it drop take into considerations of the current price of Cars (Cat B) and it is a 2 week period from the last COE bidding while the last time round is a 3 week period however the quota is due to cut in Aug and many promotion going on from AD. (Mitsubishi is offering 20% on their cars!) Pls advise. Thanks!

  7. French Squad Latest News (Football 365) looks like the end for the french.. guess they will just play the last game and go home just in case anyone asks why I care because there are worse teams out there, the headline is not from me, but credit to the website football365 must be heartbreaking for a french supporter who travels to South Africa to watch the French team and seeing such news and revolt

  12. Being Hunting for a Mini Van to replace my 1992 Suzuki Swift 1.0 MT, went to test drove the Wuling Journey on the 22th June 2008. Below are my opinions, please bare in mind that I pass all this judgement based on my oberservations and experience, you need not agree. Thank you. Ride comfort: Having own minivan before, my last being Honda Mobilio 1.5 auto, ride comfort of Journey is pretty decent, as the sales person told me their luxury version will have all round sound clad, it will be even better. But the suspension feels soft on uneven road surfaces. Bodyroll is expected as of most tall vans, overall, 6 out of 10. Build: Weildings are of good workmanship, fit and finish is of good standard, it's like a japanese standard of the nineties, it actually give me a pleasant surprise considering the other minivans that i view of same origin. All gaps are consistent, cant spot any uneven fittings. Would score it 6 out of 10. Undercarriage: Feels and look well bolted together, will get tough coat for the luxury model, springs all round. No further comment. Wheels: Let's just say I will change it upon collection if i buy. Would score it 3 out of 10. Powertrain: Power comes from a 50 plus bhp suzuki engine, if it's true, I will trust it almost immediately considering my harsh treatment of my old swift powerplant. The block is located under the passenger seat. Heat from it is pretty well insulated, sound is harsh when push beyond 3500 rpm. Drive and control: Gear changing is good, gears are pretty close considering other vans that I have driven, hence it's a plus point. All controls are simple and easily access, central console looks and feels good, comes with a flushing surface factory fitted cd radio, again it's a plus. Power is decent, it's able to move 7 but i have to say that journey is best for speeds bellow 90 to really enjoy and feel less stressfull. Crash test: Cant find any and sales executive is not sure too. Doubt that it's tested. Seats arrangement: For this price, I give it a 8 out of 10, middle seats can be turned to face last row, it's well bolted down and leathers come with the luxury model. Stopping power: Tried braking hard while turning and going straight, sales executive is not pleased, wont encourage you to try as it's good for normal driving and stopping, it's not meant to be push hard, my 92 swift did better on this subject. But hey, it's a van afterall and it's expected to be driven like one. Would rate it 6 out of 10. Strong points to consider: Very good air condition, second row over head large air con vents is a plus plus plus! Comes with 3 points seat belts for 6 and one waist belt on the center last row. All doors close with a nice tug. Out look is modern and nice, like the red especially. Very affortable. Weak points: As all makes that does not have a strong presence here, reliability on parts availability and aftersales support. Overall: Will consider to trade in my swift, best mini van of same origin so far!

  20. Initially I've ruled out going away for holiday this coming June, but as the June programs and activities schedule start to concretise, the possibility of 2 x 3D2N trips is beginning to emerge. The short duration of each trip means I can only help boost our Northern neighbour's economy, and road travelling time not more than 5 hours each way. None of the round 2200+ km circuit I did in December this time . Considering that I've almost exhausted all holiday destinations in Malaysia, I may just have to settle for repeats. Most probable venues: 1 hill + 1 beach. For the hill, I'm thinking of Fraser's, for the peace and tranquility it can offer. For the beach, it'll have to be the east coast once more. Haven't decided which resort yet. Maybe Kijal, maybe Rompin, Maybe Kuantan, but not Desaru. I'm open to any good suggestions , especially places you've tried.
  21. http://www.businessweek.com/lifestyle/cont...index_top+story Honda is June's Only Sales Winner Honda eked out a slim 1.1% sales increase for June but for the rest of the auto industry there was nothing but bad news by Jim Henry At a time when used pickups and SUVs sit gathering dust along country roads with "For Sale" signs in their windows, and a gallon of gasoline is more than $4, is anyone out there seriously thinking June was going to be anything but horrible for auto sales? In spite of slash-and-burn promotions, for the entire industry U.S. light-vehicle sales last month were down 18.3% from 2007 to 1,189,108. For the first half, sales were down 10.1%, to 7,411,682, according to Woodcliff Lake (N.J.)-based AutoData. For all of 2008, industry forecasters said that puts auto sales on track for sales of around 14.5 million, the worst finish in 15 years. Some Good, Mostly Bad News But there was one, albeit slim, ray of hope. Honda (HMC), which includes Honda and Acura, scratched out a meager 1.1% sales improvement, to a June record 142,539. Sales of its tiny Fit model more than doubled, to 10,003 for the month, the company said. Sales of its popular Accord were also strong, posting a 9% gain over June 2007. Like every other maker, its pickups tanked, with sales of the Ridgeline plummeting -41.5% for the month. Nevertheless, for the first half, Honda was up 4.1%, to 798,358. Following the trend this year, sales of traditional full-size pickups and SUVs are off the most, in favor of more fuel-efficient small cars. But most troubling of all for the industry are the customers who simply aren't buying anything, despite rising discounts. "If the overall market is 14 million, that's 3 million less than it was just a couple of years ago. That's going to put pressure on every segment of the market, not just trucks," says Mark LaNeve, vice-president, General Motors North America vehicle sales, service, and marketing. That said, U.S. light-truck sales dropped 28.4% in June to 528,060, AutoData said. But car sales were also down 7.9% from the year-ago month, to 661,048. Special Offers Fall Flat General Motors' (GM) sales fell 18.2% in June from the year-ago month, to 262,329. GM results would have been even worse, only the company unveiled a "72-hour sale" in the last few days of the month, offering 0% financing for up to 72 months, to get an early start on clearing out 2008 models. The company has extended the sale through the long July 4 weekend. "The older models are not going to get any prettier or less expensive as the summer moves on," LaNeve says. "Right now is the best time to move them. Every day that goes by, theoretically, it gets more expensive to move them," with discounts, he says. LaNeve says the 72-month financing wasn't as expensive as it looked
