  1. Samir Nasri saga .................. ESPN latest : Nasri lured to City by Vieira Manchester City newcomer Samir Nasri has revealed former Arsenal talisman Patrick Vieira helped lure the livewire midfielder to Eastlands. Nasri completed his protracted move to City on Wednesday after speaking on a regular basis with Vieira - now City's football development executive - and took the opportunity in his first interview after making the switch to take a swipe at the Gunners' faithful. "I'm here to play football and to enjoy it and win titles," Nasri told City's official website. "I spoke to Patrick Vieira about the move as it was important to get advice from players who played for the club know the club very well. Vieira said City is the place to be. It is the club of the future, they want to win everything. They have a big, big, big project. "I can see [Manchester City fans] are really passionate and it reminds me a little bit of Marseille. "Arsenal have good fans but not that passionate since they moved from Highbury to the Emirates. I remember when we played against City, when we lost 3-0, the crowd was amazing. "That is what I want. When you play football it is for a good atmosphere." "It is a big relief, it was a long negotiation and discussion between the two clubs. Finally I am a City player and that is what I wanted since the start, so I am really happy. "I was a little bit frustrated, I said to the manager I wanted to leave. I wanted to do the pre-season with Manchester so I could know a little bit more about my team-mates. "It was frustrating but it is a new start and I am looking forward to doing it," Nasri said. Just wait when Arsenal meet ManC at Emirates ... Arsenal fan will boo until their throats burst .....
  2. Received this news from friend and would like to share with you all ...... In life we keep complaining about what is or why we don't have. Half the time we seem dissatisfied, though full-bodied and free to choose. Fat people say, "I want to be slim." Skinny people say," I want to be fatter." Poor people want to be rich and rich are never satisfied with what they have. Half Man - Half Price Store ~ The Story of Peng Shuilin PENG Shuilin is 78cms high. He was born in Hunan Province , China. In 1995, in Shenzhen, a freight truck sliced his body in half. His lower body and legs were beyond repair. Surgeons sewed up his torso. Peng Shuilin, 37, spent nearly two years in hospital in Shenzhen, southern China, undergoing a series of operations to re-route nearly every major organ or system inside his body. Peng kept exercising his arms, building up strength, washing his face and brushing his teeth. He survived against all odds. Now Peng Shulin has astounded doctors by learning to walk again after a decade. Considering Peng's plight, doctors at the China Rehabilitation Research Centre in Beijing devised an ingenious way to allow him to walk on his own, creating a sophisticated egg cup-like casing to hold his body, with two bionic legs attached. It took careful consideration, skilled measurement and technical expertise. Peng has been walking the corridors of Beijing Rehabilitation Centre with the aid of his specially adapted legs and a re-sized walking frame. RGO is a recipicating gait orthosis, attached to a prosthetic socket bucket. There is a cable attached to both legs so when one goes forward, the other goes backwards. Rock to the side, add a bit of a twist and the leg without the weight on it advances, while the other one stays still, giving a highly inefficient way of ambulation. Peng so satisfying to 'walk' again after ten years with half a body! Hospital vice-president Lin Liu said: "We've just given him a checkup; he is fitter than most men his age." Peng Shuilin has opened his own bargain supermarket, called the Half Man-Half Price Store. The inspirational 37-year-old has become a businessman and is used as a role model for other amputees. At just 2ft 7ins tall, he moves around in a wheelchair giving lectures on recovery from disability. His attitude is amazing, he doesn't complain. "He had good care, but his secret is cheerfulness. Nothing ever gets him down." You have a whole body. You have feet. Now you have met a man who has no feet. His life is a feat of endurance, a triumph of the human spirit in overcoming extreme adversity. Next time you want to complain about something trivial. Remember Peng Shulin instead.

  5. Heard on leyliao gahment setting up committee to review the present rules.... pets lovers can celebrate soon? then what about pets-hater/pets-neutralers?? common complaints about pets in HDB flats are neighbours complaing about the nuisance these pets can casue... but the news reported that if the owners/lovers do their parts, these problems can be more or less overcome. but cats' mating calls are loud and usually at night.... how to control this? poos and fir and barking/meowing are not big issues if everyone plays their part, but how to suppress their sexual desires? can sterisation cut down their sex drive or just pregnancy? there are other issues, good and bad, please feel free to share your views here (there was old thread on this, but now that gahmen is re-opening the box, lets see what will come out of this)

  7. ST Forum Jun 14, 2011 Reduce rentals to keep food stalls afloat MY HEART goes out to food stall holders who have been caught between their pledge to maintain prices for six months and the rising prices of almost everything. The pledge to hold prices in an uncertain business environment was a brave one, though probably not well thought through. We should go back to the original aim of setting up food centres, which was to provide affordable sustenance. And for this, the rentals should be reduced. The HDB and other government agencies that are landlords, and the private companies that run food centres, should step up and reduce rentals. They too have a duty to the population. They should show they have their hearts in the right place by ensuring the survival of such food centres which have acquired social relevance as well. Murali Sharma

  12. For all those arguing that heavy vehicles are allowed to speed and keep on Lanes 1 and 2 of the expressway, well... here's video proof that the Traffic Police DO NOT think so: So.. all you truckers and vans with speed limit =< 70kph ... please KEEP LEFT when you are on expressways...
  13. Hi all, feeling a little fed up. Tend to travel on CTE quite often. I know lane 1 is for fast speeding car.As I am normally driving at 90km/h,I tend to stick to the 2nd lane on the expressway, especially on cte. Why does those vans, lorries alway travel on the 2nd lane at 60km/h?? don't they know they are hogging the road. I know there are very slow trailers on lane 3 but after cutting into lane 2,can't you drive back to lane 3. I don't mind vehicles travelling at 80km but 60km?? Sometime realli pissed off by them,I purposely cut in front of them and drive at 50km.Let them know how it feel. Lane 1 too fast. Lane 3 too slow. I wanna travel at lane 2,also cannot. why can't LTA or TP do something about them.

  19. Insured, so why do I keep paying? Letter from Janette Neo 05:55 AM Dec 07, 2010 THE motor insurance premium for my 1,000cc car was $1,246.32 last year. The insurer has just given me a quote for $1,955.78 for the coming year. The insurer tells me the leap in premium is due to a third-party claim I made in May. I had successfully claimed for 50 per cent of the cost of repairs for an accident that was not my fault. I cannot help but wonder: What exactly are we paying the insurers for? If you are not involved in any accidents, you are hit by premiums that escalate every year no matter how safe a driver you are. If you are in an accident, and it is your fault, you lose your No Claims Discount (NCD) and are subject to higher premiums. And if you are in an accident which is not your fault, as in my case, you still lose your NCD and are slapped with a higher premium. Why should a safe driver have to pay a cent more when he or she has done nothing wrong? Isn't the point of insurance exactly to protect us from unwanted payouts? http://www.todayonline.com/Voices/EDC10120...o-I-keep-paying?

  21. Any long term side-effects if keep changing different petrol brands/grades & also engine oil? Coz each time we change engine oil & top up petrol, sure have a few % left of the previous brand. Concern about engine internal cleaniness. Been doing that to my bikes before (now on bike no. 6); so far ok ok. For my current 1st car; abit cautious..
  22. Is it safe to leave the GPS mounted in Singapore ? It should be advisable to dismount and keep in JB right ?
  23. There was a time when I looked at the period, when one turns 55 and he/she can hope to see the better part of the days, with his/her remaining time to spend leisurely, for the last part of their lives. Then somewhere in the 1990s, it seems that the number has changed to somewhere close to 60. Come to the year 2000+ and the number has gone to somewhere 62 and then maybe to to 65. It does not take a genius to guess why the number keep going up, with seemingly no hope for the average Joe to 'rest his legs' and enjoy the last remaining part of his life. It seems obvious, that someone has taken the better and larger part of his money, saved by Joe in his earlier years, meant for his retirement and used it in whatever way, except for Joe himself in his old age. Did Joe, thru of his 20 to 30+ years of working, see any increase to his personal wealth? Or did he get any healthier to be able to live longer? The answer would be a definite ..NO! Well, what Joe did realised for sure, is that he had to pay more and more, just to be able to live modestly from year to year. Which probably accounts for where his own money saved by himself, apart from those that were taken away from him, had gone to. Which was to counter the ever rising cost of living and seemingly nothing much left for himself in the end. The question must obviously turn to ...where did the money Joe had to stash up by law, have gone to? It seems that all the infrastruture around him, from the gleaming public trains and stations to the high skyscrapers and expensive looking hospitals and many other things Joe gets to see everyday and read everday in the local news but provide nothing for him in his time of need, when he is in his 60s. And with the constant public propaganda that has been going around, since Joe left his last job when he was in his 60s, urging him to go on working, just to be able to feed himself, when he had already expended all his energy thru the 30+ years of his working life and have nothing more to give but shaky legs with constant aches. Did Joe know that this would be how he would end up? Eithier, hoping that his grown up children are filial enough and let him have the better part of his days or else what could he have done to avoid being in such a state? it was a time when Joe was in his prime when such issue seemingly was never a concern for him. It did dawn upon him and got him uneasy when he was close to his 50s but everything in his life from the money he was supoosed to have, in his retirement fund for his retirement, to his dream of a easy life, was never a decision that he was ever in control of, let alone to be allowed to ask for his 'old age' money, that was really his to be returned to him. Why did Joe ever allow such things to happen to him? Or was Joe to be blamed too?

So no more such sign and TP cant use it to summon us for road hogging? I think they need to put up this sign again to remind all those road hogger out there.
