  1. http://www.carnewschina.com/2014/11/28/how-much-exactly-is-the-landwind-x7-a-clone-of-the-range-rover-evoque/
  2. Is it true that the sales rep's marked ups for these cars are very high so the new car prices are high but the resale values are later very poor? - ford - kia - Land Rover I heard about ford more than a few times.
  3. We don’t know if you noticed it, but Landwind's, or rather Land Wind's, new X7 looks like the Range Rover Evoque – a lot, actually. And it couldn’t come at a worse time for Land Rover as the British firm just started production of the Evoque in China with its local partner Chery Automobile Company. We're not just talking about some vague similarities between the two SUVs, but a visually very close copy – go ahead, call it a clone, no one will blame you… Landwind is hosting the world premiere of the X7 at this week's 2014 Guangzhou Auto Show, but we've yet to hear any comments from Land Rover. The X7 shares its platform with Landwind's X5 SUV with power coming from a Mitsubishi-sourced 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 204PS (201hp) and 250Nm (184 lb-ft) of peak torque paired to either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic, according to Chinese media.
  4. Just saw this on the MyCarForum home page. Jaguar. Official support car of HSBC Women's Champions 2014 , Enjoy savings of $50,000 on Jaguar XJ event cars. http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_promotionslist.php?pid=1066 HSBC Women's Champions 2014 official support car, Land Rover Freelander 2 from $179,999. http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_promotionslist.php?pid=1065 How does the above deals sound? The Land Rover Freelander sounds like a steal thought I'm not familiar with this car. Last year my uncle bought a Event car Audi A6 that was used at the airshow. It was a $30K discount only.
  5. http://dai.ly/x1lk89q Land Rover has shed lights on its revolutionary design of its new Discovery SUV through a short video teaser. The marque has also said that the Discovery Vision Concept will hint at the design for its Discovery models. It will also showcase a pioneering technology from the Jaguar Land Rover group on the concept car, which will make its first public appearance at the upcoming New York Auto Show. Although information is scarce at the moment, we foresee a large amount of tech gizmos to be present, such as infotainment display with touchscreen capability, electric folding chairs, etc. And hopefully, we won't have to wait too long.
  6. I think this is a very cool tech demo by LR. Its technically not a transparent hood so don't expect to see Bond's invisible car yet... but its damn functional using camera on the underside/front to project the terrain on the hood of the LR. Blardy useful I say
  7. http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=370496&DL=1216 as can be seen from this description. i did hear that there are some vehicles that do not require COE, but they are those super super old vehicled like 1940s registered ones. what is this unlimited COE?
  8. Some cars, like whisky, just get better with age and the Range Rover is certainly one of them. The mother of all SUVs that you see here has lost some 420kgs from its previous model, thanks to the lightweight all-aluminium monocoque body structure. From the beautifully grained leather to the metal finishing, the material selection and build quality is immaculate. Even the plastic and rubberised mouldings exude an impression of quality and luxury. With a formidable output of 503bhp and 625Nm of torque, throttle response from the 5.0-litre V8 Supercharged Rangie is lag-free while taking off from the line is monumental. The 0-100km/h timing of 5.4 seconds is formidably fast for an SUV. The Range Rover is like the sweet girl you knew back in secondary school, just that she has matured, lost a few pounds and has the right curves at the right places. She even carries herself with the kind of style that isn't overly exaggerated now. It just simply reminds you why you were attracted to her in the first place.
  9. You know the expression "Kids are starting to learn at an early age nowadays"? After technology, romance, and maybe even swearing, we can add driving to the list - courtesy of Land Rover. While the offer is only valid to the lucky kids in the U.K., I believe it will leave a hunting impression on the teenagers. Start Off-Road is a new initiative by Land Rover that allows teenagers aged 11 to 17 to get behind the wheel of a Range Rover Evoque - and experience true off-road driving. Statistics show that younger drivers pick up new skills easier and are more open to learning good driving habits. By instilling the basics in them at an early stage, it is hoped that they will gain invaluable experience for later in life. The premium U.K. marque will instruct them will skills and techniques that they will go on to utilise throughout their future years both on and off-road. Participants will experience driving techniques including basic ones such as steering, braking and reversing, along with more advanced skills such as climbing and descending hills, crossing ditches and ridges, negotiating ruts, wet grass and mud, and even crossing water. While the novelty of the programme deserves praise, I do not see the logic of teens in high school to be equipped with forest driving skills. But then again, it sure sounds a lot more interesting and fun than watching Twilight with your partner. Each student will receive a personalised Log Book in which to record progress so that when they come again – to the same venue or another venue – they pick up where they left off. Pilot courses are being run at four locations throughout the U.K. As well as providing participants with an invaluable set of skills, the course is also unique in offering youngsters the chance to experience the renowned capability of the Range Rover Evoque, lauded for both its off-road and on-road ability. Safety is not compromised as each Evoque is fitted with dual controls as well as an automatic gearbox, and a dedicated team of instructors are on hand to take participants through every scenario. Parents can also take part in the activity. In contrast, the first time I got behind the wheel, I was 19 in a Honda Civic at BBDC.

  11. You may have seen or heard of the city Dubai for its flashy supercars, weird car makeovers and extreme drifting events. But despite being provided with top notch infrastructure, they also like big and bulky SUV's. Maybe because they are surrounded by desert, or petrol is cheap there, or they simply have the money and do not know what to do with it. Regardless being a city surrounded by sand, Dubai is an ideal place for hot weather vehicle tests and the sandy dunes would be ideal for all-wheel drive testing as well. Bearing this in mind, Jaguar Land Rover further enhanced its Middle East test programme by opening a new engineering test centre in Dubai to conduct extreme hot weather vehicle research, development and testing. Temperatures in the desert typically reaching up to 50 degrees Celsius in the summer months. According to Google, its 34 degrees Celsius in Singapore today and I nearly died trying to cross the road after lunch. The new 11,120 sq. ft. facility in the Al Barsha area of Dubai, replaces an existing smaller facility, and will offer a comprehensive range of tests including durability, calibration and hot weather testing for heat and humidity. The engineering team at the new centre will also test powertrains, chassis and heat and ventilation systems, as well as the off-road and sand driving capability of Land Rover's unique Terrain Response system. Including Dubai, Jaguar Land Rover has a network of five global test facilities at Nurburgring in Germany, Arjeplog in Sweden, Phoenix and International Falls in the U.S.A. Jaguar Land Rover Director of Engineering Technical Services Martyn Hollingsworth said, "Jaguar Land Rover has ambitious plans for growth, and since 2008 we have been investing to enhance our engineering capability to help us deliver an unprecedented number of new and refreshed Jaguar and Land Rover models." He continued, "Our new facility in Dubai is four times the size of the previous test centre and will enable us to enhance our testing of future products and technologies. The engineering team is focused on the quality and durability of our products and an important part of this is rigorous environmental testing of our vehicles to ensure they can withstand even the harshest conditions." Robin Colgan, Managing Director Jaguar Land Rover MENA (Middle East and North Africa) added, "Dubai offers some unique and very challenging environmental conditions, so if a vehicle passes our tests here we know it will perform in any hot weather environment. The new facility will be crucial to the company's continued success as every model for the European and MENA markets will be certified here in Dubai following thorough testing before going into global production." Dubai is one of the seven emirates that makes up the UAE and has the largest population and second largest land mass after the capital city of Abu Dhabi. It has the tallest building in the world – the Burj Al-Khalifa - where Tom Cruise was dangling out of in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.
  12. You know what they say, "Do whatever you want, just don't get caught!" Unfortunately (or thankfully, perhaps), these teenage car thieves in the United Kingdom don't seem quite knowledgeable about such a saying. Instead, these thieves just seemed so proud of their 'stealing' ability that they even shot pictures of themselves with the cars they had successfully stolen. What amazes me more is that they even posted the pictures on Facebook, a world renowned social media, and on their phones! This led the local police to catch them red-handed, or should I say, 'bread-handed' (you'll see why). It's a real 'shame' to the world of Grand Theft Auto. Speaking of Grand Theft Auto, it reminds me of the action adventure packed car theft game, the latest trailer of which will be shown on 30th April 2013. Alright, let's get back to topic. To be honest with you, these teenagers, aged from 18-23 years old, were quite an expert indeed. Comprising eight members, they managed to successfully steal nine high performance sports cars that were, and still are, very expensive. Porsches, Range Rovers, BMWs, and a Mercedes Coupe worth
  13. Want a reliable driving machine that provides stress-free ownership? The recent 2013 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study by J.D Power suggests that you should get yourself a Lexus. In the study, Lexus came out on top with a score of 71 problems per 100 vehicles. Owners of three-year-old cars of various makes were asked to mention the problems they had with their vehicles in the last 12 months. Porsche took up second position after Lexus while Lincoln and Toyota tied for the third spot with a score of 112 PP 100. The overall average stands at 126 PP 100. The lowest 5 spots were taken up by Volkswagen, Jeep, Mitsubishi, Dodge and Land Rover. For individual models, the Lexus RX (above) had the highest dependability with just 57 problems per 100 vehicles, marking the first time in the survey an SUV came up on top. J.D. Power commented that 54% of owners who don't experience any problems with their vehicles stay with that brand for their next purchase. That loyalty rate slips to 41% when three or more problems are experienced.
  14. UK off-road specialist, Bowler Motorsport and Land Rover have announced their long partnership official. Bowler has been making off-road machines which are powered by Land Rover for over twenty years and has, during that time, enjoyed a fair bit of support from Land Rover. The agreement is not the beginning of an all-new relationship between the two companies. Instead, it merely turns a decades-old informal collaboration into an official partnership. One of Bowler's early offerings was an ARC-spec prototype which uses a Land Rover chassis converted to coil springs with a twin-carb engine (pictured above). Dubbed "Powered by Land Rover," it is aimed to ensure that Bowler has easy access to drivetrains, spare parts and other crucial components to develop its rally-bound SUVs. The very first SUV to wear the "Powered by Land Rover" badge is Bowler's first ever road going model, the EXR S. Bowler EXR The EXR S is powered by a remapped version of the Range Rover Sport's supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine. It churns out 550bhp and 623Nm of torque, which is enough to propel the 1814kg SUV from 0-100km in 4.2 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that features steering wheel mounted shift paddles. Exteriorly, the EXR S looks like a two door variant of the Range Rover, a model that the company has not offered for quite some time. But don't be fooled by its ordinary looks. Under that shell, the EXR S rides on a race bred hydroformed chassis. Managing director of Bowler, Drew Bowler, commented, "We're delighted to announce this partnership, which brings very positive benefits to both Bowler and Land Rover. We've only ever used Land Rover powertrains, and this relationship will give us access to current Land Rover technologies, and a great platform from which to support our racing activities and develop future models." The EXR S is scheduled to make its worldwide debut at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed. After the debut, the EXR S will be offered to the public for
  15. It looks like the Land Rover Defender will keep soldering on in its current state for another 500 years so at the rate things are going. This to me is not a bad thing as I still think that nothing, other than the Toyota Land Cruiser can go against it in an off-road duel. I truly love the Defender, ridiculous driving position, overall lack of refinement and all. Anyway, Land Rover has more or less decided that the purported replacement for the Defender, the DC100 concept is now a new model that would slot in below the Land Rover Freelander instead of replacing the Defender. Somehow I believe this has happened because the strong positive reaction from the public at the motorshow previews was from the Victoria and David Beckhams instead of Farmer Brown, Bob the Builder, Winnie the Pooh and other citizens of the Thousand Acre Wood. What was thought as a concept car to show off how the future Land Rover Defender is now going to be Land Rover's new entry level road going model. How ironic. Ironic as it was supposed to replace the ultimate off-road vehicle in the eyes of many people. The DC100 could now be based on the Range Rover Evoque platform and become Land Rover's rival to the Mini Countryman and the Nissan Juke

  17. [extract] A few of my friends recently test drove the 2012 Range Rover Evoque and most of them basically decided that those that decided to save SG$20,000 or thereabouts for the BMW X3 or the Audi Q5 must have been either mad or simply too 'poor' to afford that extra amount asked by Range Rover for the Evoque. The car is totally 'worth' the SG$260,000 in terms of looks and its interior appointments. It looks stunning in the flesh and is one of those cars that one yearn to own. If one could afford it of course. Anyway, what owners of Range Rover, Land Rover has done is come up with another stunning Evoque, in a chunky Tonka toy sort of way
  18. The ever reliable old faithful, Land Rover Defender series of 4x4 type vehicle may continue to be sold even after 2015, the year where Land Rover intends to launch its replacement based on the recent Land Rover DC100 Concept vehicle. Autocar magazine was informed by an inside source that the current Land Rover Defender may soldier on until 2017 or even later as it may be made exempt from current (and the near future) pedestrian impact regulation. This is very good news as I somehow fail to see why anyone would want to stand in the way of a moving Land Rover Defender. One should add that the Defender is pretty noisy even when you

    Armoured Land Rover

Land Rover has announced the new Discovery 4 armoured vehicle for those customers seeking extra protection from assassinations (I suppose!). Developed with security specialists Centigon, the armour fittings include ballistic steel plates against high-velocity ballistics as well as blast protection against 15 kg of TNT, or its equivalent. The under floor protection is able to withstand two DM51 hand grenades. The vehicle's armour fitting is in accordance with European standards. The vehicle also comes fitted with heavy wheels and run-flat tires. Powering the Discovery 4 is a 5.0 liter LR-V8 petrol engine developing 375 PS and 510 Nm of torque. The huge capacity powerplant is good for a 0 to 100 km/h accerlation time of 10.6 seconds. It sounds kind of sluggish but we have to take into consideration that the Discovery 4 has a curb weight of 3550 kg (not including certain options) given all of its extra padding. That is more than 2 times the weight of a VW Passat 1.8. Expect it to be a thirsty fellow. Chassis upgrades include an air suspension, new air springs, revised damper settings, biggers roll bars and Alcon heavy-duty brakes to bring all that weight to a halt. The all-wheel drive Discovery 4 Armoured is also fitted with a Terrain Response System which has various settings that adapt to most types of surfaces such as mud, grass or rocks. I guess the Land Rover Discovery 4 would be suited to ferry high ranking officers in the armed forces.
  20. Another photo unveiling at the Paris Motor Show was the Range Rover Evoque in 5 door form. The car, which somehow looks like an enlarged Mini Countryman to me was officially confirmed by Land Rover at the official preview of the 3 door Evoque and after a photograph of it was leaked on the internet. This was amid a seemingly never ending glamorous previews, launchings and unveils of Lamborghinis, Lotuses, Jaguars and so many more. The Evoque 5 door will have the same engine specs of the 3 door. It will have a 2.2liter 4 cylinder turbodiesel engine in two different states of tune, one with 148bhp and another with 187bhp. The diesel engines will come with stop/start function for increased fuel economy. The 2.0liter 4 cylinder petrol engine will come from Ford and is a 237bhp turbocharged EcoBoost engine that you
  21. [extract] Taking over Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford has actually made TaTa Motors very profitable. From April to June of 2010, 2nd quarter sales Tata had posted a net profit of US$430million. From this figure, Jaguar-Land Rover sales have contributed to US$348million. Tata
  22. Bloomberg, that all knowledgeable financial software, news, and data company, has very recently reported that Tata Motors Ltd has plans to raise billions of......rupees in order to expand the operations of its recently purchased luxury automotive brands, Jaguar and Land Rover, as well as pare down the debt brought about for the purchase of the above mentioned brands in the first place. Refinancing of debts is a usual thing nowadays as even giant conglomerates like TATA also resort to this financial decision. Now the actual amount in US Dollars is only One ($1) Billion. It sounds so massive in when converted in Rupees - 47 Billion Rupees. The Indian company also famous for building that ultra cheap Nano car is actually gearing up Jaguar-Land Rover for growth in emerging markets, namely China and India. Tata will open up more showrooms in India and in China, a sales/ distribution company. Jaguar sold 8,821 units in a 10 month period. This is 8,000 cars that Jaguar would not have sold if it had not entered the Chinese market. It would seem pretty good business sense for Jaguar-Land Rover to expand into these markets which is expanding in leaps and bounds. This is also coupled with the fact that the new Jaguar XJ and XF as well as the current crop of Range Rovers and Land Rovers are actually brilliant products that people actually want to buy. Tata is planning to raise the amount via shares, equity and the like in order to come up with the $1 billion required for this exercise. Earlier, Tata had already raised 41 billion rupees through a rights offer in October 2008. The Tata Group, which is the holding company which other businesses include making steel, computer software, tea and power , invested 30 billion rupees by subscribing to the offer. And while Tata Motors had debt of 185.3 billion rupees (according to Bloomberg financial data), partly due to the loans taken to purchase the luxury vehicle unit from Ford Motor Co. for $2.5 billion in 2008, the corporate family rating was raised to B2 from B3 with a positive outlook at Moody
  23. Land Rover has finally broken their tradition of building 4X4 for the last 60 years, and come up with this; a Front Wheel Drive only Land Rover. Its currently called the 'Land Rover Compact' and by looking at its dimensions, you can understand where its name was derived. The Compact is still in its concept stage but it is very near production ready and this is probably Land Rover's best bet at infiltrating the un-Land Roverish land of Singapore... People here would question, why would I need all the gizmos and low range gears of a Land Rover? Not to mention the immense size of the thing and how it drinks petrol, its as good as pouring it down the drain and burning holes in all your wallets. This Land Rover is different. Its aimed at the stay home mom who has to ferry the kids to school, and then to soccer practice and then for tuition yet provides the elevated driving road position and the presence which will prevent road going Bengs from bullying you. Its like buying the shell of an SUV yet it doesn't give you the feeling of being ripped off just because it is shaped to be an SUV as it suits the urban lifestyle and doesn't make you pay for all the robustness and 4 wheel drive gadgetry that you don't really need. This particular model here is by far the best looking Land Rover I've ever seen. It looks sleek, modern and contemporary. It would just blast the BMW X5 out the door with this kind of looks rather than the chunky elephant that is rather common on Singapore roads. Buying one of these is like buying a Jaguar while everyone else is running to Mercedes showrooms, it makes you feel unique. And rather special. Of course there will be critics who say that Land Rover is losing the 'brand values' of being a thoroughbred 4X4 SUV manufacturer, but I think this idea is brilliant. I do hope this comes to Singapore because its totally cool.
