The new Defender is being featured in more and more teasers by Land Rover to generate more buzz. It’s not your typical shadowy teaser image as the adjacent photo gallery was shot in Africa where a near-production prototype had to go through some serious hurdles in Kenya. Together with British non-profit organization Tusk Trust, the resurrected off-road SUV was used across the 14,000-hectare Borana Conservancy by wildlife managers to support conservation operations. Approximately two and a half years have passed since the last old-school Defender was built at the factory in Solihull, and we’re now just a few months away from its completely new successor. Land Rover will allegedly unveil the next-gen model in September and will have the iconic off-roader on sale soon. Like its predecessor, the revamped Defender will spawn a great variety of derivatives, from barebones off-roaders to luxurious and powerful versions in a bid to lure in a wider clientele. We’ve spotted it multiple times in short- and long-wheelbase configurations, but we’ve also been hearing rumors of a pickup truck with a single cab setup among other versions.

TL;DR – A Land Rover Defender bullies the cam car driver by tailgating, using illegal floodlights to blind the driver and hurling vulgarities when confronted. Who needs fog lights and high beams when you illegally install floodlights in your Land Rover Defender to bully people? A cam car driver was on the receiving end of some serious road bullying at around 6pm on 21st July 2022 at IMM shopping centre. Watch the 4-min ish video of the incident here: Unclear as to what happened prior The footage uploaded did not show what might have triggered the aggression from the Defender driver. But here’s a pretty detailed summary of what went down. Shine bright like a diamond There’s NO WAY those lights are legal. Anything that jeopardises the safety of other road users (in this case, blinding them with 1,000,000 kelvins of light) will not be LTA approved. I don’t know whether you missed it, but after all that bullying, the Defender driver couldn’t even make a proper turn at the carpark. It had to do a little three-point-turn to evade scraping the walls. Online Chatter Here are a couple of award-winning comments. TL;DR – A Range Rover enters the main road via a small lane along Braddell road without looking out for oncoming traffic. Cam car manages to evade a T-bone incident with the Range Rover, but it almost came with a huge cost. Wow. I know the Range Rover is a big a#@ car, but shouldn’t that mean you can see almost everything as the driver? Not this guy Watch this 35-second video and see how oblivious the Range Rover driver is. Dangerous evasive manoeuvrers By some miracle, the cam car managed to avoid T-boning the Range Rover, but it had to swerve into the next lane and cut across double white lines in the process. If there had been another vehicle on its right, the crash would have been devastating. Not to mention, the cam car would have to foot the damages. Online Chatter A little harsh. Not! Sounds legit. To be officially unveiled next week. Stay tuned. The new model will be based on Jaguar Land Rover’s brand new MLA platform, which allows for Mild Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid, and Battery Electric variants. The same platform will underpin the slightly smaller Range Rover Sport which is expected to be unveiled in 2022. As for the powertrains, most likely all of them will receive some form of electrification for improved efficiency and comply with the ever-stricter emission regulations. The base model will probably retain the current mild-hybrid inline-six 3.0-liter engine, while the most powerful variant is rumored to get a BMW-sourced 4.4-liter V8. The most popular option will probably be the plug-in hybrid version, thanks to the combination of a gasoline motor plus a sufficient electric range for daily use. We also expect a BEV variant for the first time in Range Rover’s history, which could lead the popular series into the future following the imminent ICE sales ban in Europe.

Land Rover is giving the Range Rover a special edition to mark the 50th anniversary of the nameplate’s debut in 1970. The Range Rover 50th-anniversary edition will be available in standard or long wheelbase and with a 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 engine rated at 518 hp. It will be available in four colors, but the Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations division will offer small numbers of the vehicle painted in one of three additional heritage colors from the original 1970 Range Rover lineup: Tuscan Blue, Bahama Gold or Davos White. Land Rover will build just 1,970 Range Rover Fifty models for all global markets. Fewer than 400 are planned to be sold in North America.

We all know the Land Rover Defender is coming and it seems like someone has managed to take a photo of it without camouflage. Leaked online through a number of Land Rover forums before making its way onto Twitter, the photo is actually a photo of the new Defender’s digital gauge cluster. From that digital side view of the new SUV, we can see that it is more modern and rounded than its predecessor. We also noticed that there seem to be a small side window incorporated into the roof much like some of its previous variants. The new Defender will be using a revised version of the MLA platform used by the likes of the Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Discovery, with engines options probably similar to those cars too. The car is expected to be debut globally in September.

The new Evoque is the first Land Rover with Smart Settings technology, which uses advanced artificial intelligence algorithms to learn the driver's habits over time. The 'self-learning' technology recognises the driver from their key fob and phone and will set up their seat and steering column position on approach, allowing for up to eight profiles to be registered. After a few journeys, Evoque remembers the driver's preferred temperature settings, media preferences and commonly dialed numbers depending on the time or day of the week. The InControl Remote smartphone application allows customers to stay in touch with their Evoque, no matter where in the world they are. Customers can use their phone to find their vehicle or check the remaining fuel range, lock and unlock the vehicle remotely, as well as pre-heat or cool the cabin to the desired temperature. Evoque is future-proofed, with wireless software updates to the infotainment and vehicle systems which means the compact luxury SUV continuously improves over time, without having to visit a retailer. To ensure the wellbeing of occupants, Evoque is fitted with Cabin Air Ionisation technology that removes impurities from the environment. New Road Rover model to launch in 2019 New Land Rover model line will kick off with an electric-powered XJ-sized luxury vehicle The first production vehicle will be a premium all-electric model, aimed primarily at markets such as California in the US and China. The first Road Rover is understood to be a Mercedes-Benz S-Class rival in terms of outright luxury and interior craftsmanship but with
 some ‘all-terrain’ capability. The car will also be tuned 
for impressive on-road dynamic performance, taking advantage of the potential delivered by electric motors. The car could make its public debut at the Los Angeles motor show in late 2019, with sales starting soon after. Prices are expected to be pegged at around £90,000 for the top-line versions. Over time, the Road Rover line-up is expected to develop into a series of more car-like and road-friendly, but still rugged, vehicles. In fact, Autocar understands that the first Road Rover model is being developed in parallel with the next-generation XJ. The underlying structure for both of these vehicles is a new-generation aluminium architecture that can accommodate both battery packs and piston engines. It’s thought that the new XJ and the Road Rover will both be pure-electric vehicles with twin electric motors and on-demand all-wheel drive. The Road Rover will emphasise extreme luxury — the huge success of the current S-Class has proved that SUVs have not pushed super-luxury saloon cars out of the market — and it is also expected to have height-adjustable suspension for a degree of all-terrain ability. A range of at least 300 miles is predicted, as well as a 0-60mph time of under 5.0sec. JLR has to compete head-on with premium-brand rivals such as Porsche and Audi, which are both launching luxury EVs in the next two years. Perhaps the closest rival to the new Road Rover is Audi’s E-tron Sportback, which is due to be launched in 2019. This also has all-wheel drive and an expected driving range of 300 miles in ideal conditions. There is no hard news on whether the Road Rover will have its own stand-alone design language. This appears to be the next Land Rover Discovery, hews closely to the design of the Discovery Vision Concept of 2014. In fact, you can match up almost every detail on this prototype to the concept. The SUV retains the subtle bulge that starts above the C-pillar as a tribute to the old Discovery, LR3 and LR4. The character line running from the fender vent to the edge of the taillight, the semi-floating roof design and the shape of the lights and front grille vents are all carried over from the concept as well. Outside of small proportional changes, this Discovery is a dead-ringer for its show-car predecessor. Clearly, the days of tall, upright, and boxy are numbered at Land Rover. Our spy photographer also expects this new Discovery to trade its current body-on-frame chassis for an aluminum unibody. This wouldn't be surprising as the Discovery Sport also uses an unibody chassis with a mix of aluminum and high-strength steel. Expect the future Discovery to make its debut at the end of this year or sometime in 2017 with a supercharged gasoline 3.0-liter V6 and possibly a diesel 3.0-liter V6. Rumors suggest that the current supercharged V6 may be replaced by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six from Ford, and a plug-in hybrid may also become an option somewhere down the line.
