  1. SINGAPORE: The Workers' Party (WP) is crying foul over a leaflet sent by the People's Action Party's (PAP) Nee Soon Group Representation Constituency (GRC) team to the residents on Thursday. With minutes to go before midnight - just in time before Cooling Off Day kicked in - the WP posted a statement to rebut the allegations in the leaflet that the party was against home upgrading. The WP statement added: "This is misleading and mischievous. It was distributed just before the close of the campaign period, leaving little time for WP to respond and set the record straight." The newsletter, which was seen by Today, cited a blog post - dated Oct 20, 2009 - by WP East Coast GRC candidate Gerald Giam under a headline "WP's Housing Policy - it will reduce the value of your homes!" Mr Giam had said in his post: "HDB flats should remain no-frills public housing. There is no need to provide posh condo look-alikes." The leaflet also cited a media report last month, which quoted Mr Giam saying that the high prices of Housing and Development Board (HDB) flats were due to the past PAP's assets enhancement policy in the past 20 years. It said: "Their solution will crash housing prices - it will reduce the prices of your flats." It also described the WP's position as "simple". "It has a negative policy: Throw criticisms but it has no solutions!" The leaflet was signed off by PAP Nee Soon GRC candidates K Shanmugam, Lee Bee Wah, Lim Wee Kiak, Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim and Patrick Tay. When contacted late Thursday night, Dr Lim said the leaflet was only printed on Wednesday, after hearing the Opposition's take on issues. Hence, copies of it were distributed on Thursday, he added. He said that the team had planned to send out materials consistently over the nine-day campaigning period. When asked if it was a deliberate attempt to leave little time for WP to respond, Dr Lim said no. He added that his team had to "wait for the other party to rebut" what the PAP had raised earlier against its housing policies. In its statement, the WP provided a point-by-point rebuttal. Citing the example of upgrading in Hougang, the WP also explained that it was never against upgrading plans. Urging voters to read its manifesto, the WP explained that its stand was that public housing cannot be expected to have condo-like facilities or it will make home prices unaffordable. - TODAY --- http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1127104/1/.html
  2. Bros here's my personal and final take on the issues at hand. 1) Pres1dent gets 30% increment but we are promised 30% over 10YEARS. Will the ministars be getting increments soon I wonder? 2) we were promised floods happened once in 50 years but in the end the heavens opened up to make them swallow their words. 3) overcrowding was apparently unforeseen , but many of us here saw it coming way in advance. Does that mean that there are better people with even greater foresight who would have handled this differently? Didn't they also now say that more would be coming? 4) HDB prices are really sky-high but we are told that it's very affordable, so much so that they are thinking of increasing the salary ceiling to 10k. 5) we are told that TPL has got what it takes to serve but then we must give her time to learn? On the job learning at whose expense I wonder? 6) we have lots of poor in our midst but then we are asked if we want 3 meals in a hawker centre just because of a request of a buck a day? Where is the compassion? 7) health care is really affordable if u need to pay 8 bucks for a heart operation, but how many can afford the additional payment to top up the insurance payment which does not come cheap. There are people that earn 400 a month who can't afford even 80 for their kids tuition fees. 8) our kids have to compete with FT for place in schools and we have to pay through our noses for tuition just to keep pace with them. Have u noticed recently who some of the top students are? And then when they finish school they have to fight for a job with FTs as competitors. 9) I'm not even gonna talk about our limping convict. So that's the end of my rant. I hope when tomorrow comes it will be a new era and then I can start repenting for the next 5 years. So long people and remember to VOTE WISELY. This could be our last chance where we as native SGPOREANS still outnumber the FTs. I'm not sure if it will be like this come 2016. So make your vote COUNT. Cheers and see you on Sunday. HAPPY POLLING FOR A NEW DAWN.

  10. ...and had an eerie feeling when i woke up. My dreams normally quite chun one....and i checked out the symbolism and... Dreams from the crow are powerful indeed. First, please don't freak out and take the first piece of symbology you will find if you surf the net on crow dreams...they are decidedly not one thing or another (like the coming of death). Crows are one of or perhaps the most intelligent species of birds. Look closely at your dream. If I dream of crow, I know there is a message, something to heed, something to listen to. There is a definite message...find out what it is.
  11. or so mr lee has claimed: http://sg.yfittopostblog.com/2011/01/21/mm...-pap-sometime/# In light of the upcoming general elections and increasing concerns about various hot button issues like the growing wage gap in Singapore, one question is on the minds of all Singaporeans

  13. Haiz, I find that all those values that are supposed to be good such as, honesty, decency, integrity, consideration etc are all liabilities in our modern society. If you have such attributes, people will make use of you and choose you as #1 target to stab in the back. On the other hand, if you have a black heart, do politics, spread rumours, form cliques, carry balls and wayang, you can actually make it quite far.

  21. Just curious, from my undestanding in MCF, most car batteries last for 2 yrs. But i have came across many others uses their battery for more than 4 yrs. Just wondering what is the average lifespan of the car battery and if you can share the brand of the battery, that will be beneficial for all of us here.. For me, the battery which last me longest was Amaron, it was the green colour batter with 60amp/hr rating. use it in my elantra for 2yrs + and swap with my bro in law since his battery was bloated and i was scrapping my ride. He manage to use it for another few yrs. Total lifespan of the battery was more than 5 years. Other brand such as yokohama, varta, yuasa, panasonic & etc only last around 1.5yrs to 2 yrs +
  22. This month is my last installment on my 5room hdb. Took me 8 years. Sibeh happy.
  23. F1's governing body on Thursday admitted a "lack of clarity" in the rules led to the last-lap Monaco controversy. When the safety car returned to the pits on the final lap of Sunday's famous street race, Michael Schumacher passed Fernando Alonso and was subsequently handed a 20-second penalty by the stewards. Mercedes vowed to appeal the decision but ultimately decided not to proceed, with the FIA now admitting the incident "showed a lack of clarity in the application of the rule prohibiting overtaking behind the safety car". "Adjustments to the regulations are necessary", the Paris body explained in a statement. The problem of the flashing green lights and waving of green flags is also to be addressed, with the FIA vowing to ensure "that the signalling for teams and drivers is made more clear". Source: GMM

Many thanks.
