  1. Got a text message from Champion Motors today saying that they are showing 2 news cars off at the Pandan showroom this Saturday. The Solio and S-Cross. This is from Suzuki HK The Suzuki Solio is a wagon that gives great fuel economy, has a tall, roomy cabin within a compact body, and offers the user-friendliness of left- and right-hand remote control electric sliding doors. The new Solio reflects a concept of developing a tall, compact wagon thats fun to drive, user-friendly, and outstandingly fuel-efficient. Its body is compact enough for great maneuverability on city streets but contains a roomy cabin. Convenient left- and right-hand rear sliding doors are complemented by a one-touch double-folding rear seat that permits a variety of seat arrangements. And a 1.2-litre engine delivers smooth, fuel-efficient performance. By being easy to drive, easy to use, and economical, the new Solio delivers everything expected of a compact car. Suzuki created the new Solio to be an ideal choice for customers looking to move upscale from minicars and for those looking to downsize to a more compact model. Suzuki expects the new Solio to join the Swift as a pillar of its sales growth in the compact category. 2. Nissan has updated its Skyline sedan with its latest ProPILOT 2.0 driver assistance technology. Drivers can now drive hands-off on the highway. For sale in the Japanese market, the new sports sedan has the “world’s first driver assistance system that combines navigated highway driving with hands-off single-lane driving capabilities” according to Nissan. In another words, the car will work with its navigation system and prompt the driver the activate the semi-autonomous driving system when it enters a highway. Nissan is so confident in the system that it says it allows for hands-off driving while the car is cruising in a given lane. However, drivers who want to switch lanes must still do it themselves. Of course, the system also takes note of the driver's attention level. It will turn on the vehicle’s hazard lights and bring the car to a slow stop if the driver fails to respond to its alerts. Elsewhere, the facelift allows the new Skyline to benefit from its he company’s signature V-Motion grille. The car is available in four grades: GT, GT Type P, GT Type SP, and 400R. The top variant, 400R, is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 that pushes out 400bhp and 475Nm of torque while the rest make do with 'just' 300bhp. There is also a hybrid variant with a 3.5-litre V6 that makes 359bhp.
  3. 12 September 2018! https://www.apple.com/apple-events/september-2018/ Looking forward to this: https://www.macworld.co.uk/news/apple/when-is-next-apple-event-3658198/ It has been confirmed, Apple's next major iPhone will be unveiled Wednesday September 12th, 10 am PDT (1am in SG). The event will take place at the Steve Jobs Theater at the Apple HQ in Cupertino, Californa. You can watch the live stream (or add it to your calendar for now) here. Apple is also likely to let the audience know when the next version of the Mac and iOS operating systems will be available for download. The rumours surrounding the date and time of this Apple Special Event were originally reported by the French Radio Station, Europe 1, that claims it got the information from two sources. The difficulty is predicting what Apple will call the next iPhone (or iPhones). Below we will run through the products we expect to see at the event, you can read more about what to expect in our: What will Apple announce on 12 September story. iPhone X Plus, 9, Xi, 11, or something else...There are lots of rumours pointing to an iPhone X Plus - expected to launch at the September event. It's likely that this will be a next generation of the iPhone X, launched alongside the new version of that phone, perhaps the iPhone Xi. We may also see an iPhone 9 (or iPhone 9 Plus). Now may be the time it ditches the numbers and refers to the iPhone simply as iPhone and iPhone Plus. What ever happens, it looks like all the new phones will have Face ID - and no home button. Some rumours suggest that Apple will announce three new phones in 2018 - two high-end X models with OLED screens, and one cheaper model with a LCD-TFT display. All three models are said to have all-screen displays (although we assume the notch will remain). Read all the news about the new iPhone for 2018 here. iPad ProApple updated the iPad back in the Spring, but it's now nearly a year since the iPad Pro was last updated. All the rumours point to Apple updating the iPad Pro at its September event, with the new model using a Face ID camera rather than Touch ID - and hence having no Home button. You can expect smaller bezels and the 10.5in version may get an 11in screen without a significant change in dimensions. Read all about the iPad Pro rumours here. iOS 12 & macOS 14The iPhone usually shares its September event with announcements of when the latest version of iOS (in this case iOS 12) and macOS (Mojave) will become available to the public in their final form, having been announced earlier in the year at WWDC 2018. Apple Watch September is also a good time for Apple Watch updates, and in September 2017 we saw the announcement of the Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE. Anyone waiting for their phones? https://wccftech.com/what-to-expect-from-apples-gather-round-iphone-event-on-september-12/
  4. Azizul Hj Tandek, managing director of Enggang Keramat Automobile, told paultan.org that the company will be launching a new Malaysian car brand called SAF – named after the arrangement of Muslims in prayer – in April this year. The new lineup will consist of rebadged versions of models from the Chinese brand Foday, namely the Lion F22 pick-up truck and the Landfort seven-seater SUV. The two vehicles will be badged as the SAF Striker and SAF Landfort respectively, and will look identical to the Foday models, albeit with SAF badging. Both models will be built at Oriental Assemblers in Tampoi, Johor, the same company that also assembles Chery models in Malaysia. Only one engine will be available from launch – a Mitsubishi-derived 4G69S4N 2.4 litre petrol engine delivering 134 hp at 5,250 rpm and 200 Nm of torque from 2,500 to 3,000 rpm. Five-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmissions are on offer, as is a choice of either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive (Striker pick-up will be 4×4 only). The Striker is expected to be priced below RM100,000, while the Landfort SUV is slated to cost less than RM150,000. Exact kit has yet to be decided, but both models should come with dual airbags and ABS with EBD; no stability control on offer, however. Enggang Keramat is looking at an initial run of 100 units for each model when the brand is launched next month, available at 20 dealers nationwide – all 3S centres – in both Peninsular and East Malaysia. http://paultan.org/2016/02/29/new-malaysian-brand-saf-to-launch-april-striker-pick-up-and-landfort-suv-to-be-based-on-foday-models/
  5. Dear all. All new Continental Sport contact 6 launched. But think targeted at 19 to 22 inch. Maybe just launch. Wonder when will arrive in our shore. http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/Continental-Sport-Contact-6-First-Drive.htm The Continental Sport Contact 6 is here, and it's fantastic! Launched 1st September, the new Sport Contact 6 replaces the Sport Contact 5P as Continentals maximum performance summer tyre for sports cars. Initially available in 19 to 23 inches, the Sport Contact 6 pushes the tyre towards the segment the Michelin Pilot SuperSport currently occupies, and while it's not quite as track orientated, it should give the Michelin a little competition for those who enjoy fast road driving. Already ProvenWhile the Sport Contact 6 is new to market, it's already a proven tyre. The Sport Contact 6 is the OE tyre for the new Honda Civic Type R, which recently destroyed the Nurburgring FWD record, setting a 7:50.63, only 10 seconds slower than a Porsche Cayman GT4! To further prove the capabilities of the new tyre, Continental invited TyreReviews to Bilster Berg Race Resort in Germany to learn about, and test the Sport Contact 6. DevelopmentOur biggest criticism of the outgoing tyre has always been steering feel. The Sport Contact 5 and 5P were never short of wet grip, wet or dry braking performance, or even good levels of comfort, but for a sports tyre they felt sluggish, soft and frankly, unsporty. The engineers at Continental have worked hard to address this. They've designed the tread pattern with "force vectoring", which helps transfer the forces more evenly through the tyre to give a stable cornering force, and added a new "Aralon 350" belt to the carcass, to give the tyre structure higher stability at speed. We'll cover both these technologies in detail over the next few days, but the simple version is they give the tyre a 14% better steering precision over the Sport Contact 5P and 11% better dry handling. When combined with 7% better wear (another weakness of the outgoing tyre), 7% less noise and 10% higher high speed stability, the result is a very capable tyre. Our TestingSadly at the launch Continental didn't provide the previous tyre to directly compare against, but what they did offer us was the ability to run on the tyre in both the dry and wet, on various vehicles. In the dry, on a VW Golf R, the tyre was impressive. Bilster Berg might have a new surface with a high coefficient of grip, but the tyre was still monstered the lap, giving plenty of lovely feedback right to the limit, and a nice progressive slide past the limit. The same was true of the tyre on the Porsche Cayman GTS, Mercedes A45 and Audi RS3 in the wet, with the Sport Contact 6 harnessing the all wheel drive nature of the Audi and Mercedes to provide quite astonishing traction, and when using the RWD Porsche in torrential rain, still providing incredible grip, communication and balance. ConclusionContinental simply don't make bad tyres, and while the Sport Contact 5 and 5P never really excited us, they were nearly always best in class when tested. Now with the Sport Contact 6, Continental have produced an exciting, world class sport tyre. Tyre tests in 2016 are going to be extremely interesting! If you're interested in the technical details we'll be publishing a technical report on the Sport Contact 6 over the next few days, otherwise be sure to leave a review if you buy yourself a set. 7. New Road Rover model to launch in 2019 New Land Rover model line will kick off with an electric-powered XJ-sized luxury vehicle The first production vehicle will be a premium all-electric model, aimed primarily at markets such as California in the US and China. The first Road Rover is understood to be a Mercedes-Benz S-Class rival in terms of outright luxury and interior craftsmanship but with
some ‘all-terrain’ capability. The car will also be tuned
for impressive on-road dynamic performance, taking advantage of the potential delivered by electric motors. The car could make its public debut at the Los Angeles motor show in late 2019, with sales starting soon after. Prices are expected to be pegged at around £90,000 for the top-line versions. Over time, the Road Rover line-up is expected to develop into a series of more car-like and road-friendly, but still rugged, vehicles. In fact, Autocar understands that the first Road Rover model is being developed in parallel with the next-generation XJ. The underlying structure for both of these vehicles is a new-generation aluminium architecture that can accommodate both battery packs and piston engines. It’s thought that the new XJ and the Road Rover will both be pure-electric vehicles with twin electric motors and on-demand all-wheel drive. The Road Rover will emphasise extreme luxury — the huge success of the current S-Class has proved that SUVs have not pushed super-luxury saloon cars out of the market — and it is also expected to have height-adjustable suspension for a degree of all-terrain ability. A range of at least 300 miles is predicted, as well as a 0-60mph time of under 5.0sec. JLR has to compete head-on with premium-brand rivals such as Porsche and Audi, which are both launching luxury EVs in the next two years. Perhaps the closest rival to the new Road Rover is Audi’s E-tron Sportback, which is due to be launched in 2019. This also has all-wheel drive and an expected driving range of 300 miles in ideal conditions. There is no hard news on whether the Road Rover will have its own stand-alone design language. However, it is likely to build on the look of the Velar, emphasising taut and very clean surfaces, and it will have more of a shooting brake profile than other high-end electric SUVs. The new XJ and Road Rover, along with Jaguar’s electric I-Pace compact SUV, will be part of JLR’s plan to meet stringent new Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) sales targets in California.

  11. ??? Great idea, or waste of time. All of us going to get those chips in our system? With a chip reader I can read you, haha From February next year, some fish farmers in Singapore will be introducing microchipping for their fish. The aim is to improve competitiveness and ensure the quality of the fish sold to consumers. Asia's first tracking system for fish The microchips will allow buyers to find out the origins of the fish and its health conditions using an online system. There are plans to extend this to about 120 fish farms in Singapore within the next three years. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/fish-and-micro-chips-s/1418740.html SINGAPORE: From February next year, some fish farmers in Singapore will be introducing microchipping for their fish. The aim is to improve competitiveness and ensure the quality of the fish sold to consumers. Fish will be microchipped once they reach 100 grammes. With the microchip, buyers can find out the origins of the fish and its health conditions using an online system. Once launched, this will be Asia's first tracking system for fish that are meant for consumption. There are plans to extend this to about 120 fish farms in Singapore within the next three years. "Once the chip is in, the farmers shall not implement any drugs or any medication to the fish. If the fish is sick, either they die or we do medical treatment. When we do medical treatment, this group of fish will not go into the market," said Mr Phillip Lim, ex-chairman of the Singapore Marine Aquaculture Cooperative. - CNA/xy
  12. http://www.worldcarfans.com/112010539473/d...percar-revealed DC Design from has revealed first sight of their supercar in New Delhi following a teaser image from a few days ago. Called the Avanti, which is a reference to the Studbaker Avanti from Tintin comics, the Indian supercar will initially be available with a Ford 4-cylinder turbo engine producing 265 hp (268 PS / 197 kW), and then followed by a Honda V6 making 400 hp (298 kW / 406 PS) - modest figures indeed for a supercar. Not helping matters either is a unacceptable supercar sprint time to 100km/h in less than seven seconds. All this in an Aventador matching 3,440 lbs (1,560 kg) vehicle with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. Manufactured at DC Design's Talegaon plant in Pune, the body is made of aluminium while the body panels are made of fiberglass (GRP). Engines will be prepared in the UK and then shipped to India. Despite our initial supercar skepticism, we're reminded that the Avanti is intended to be an affordable supercar priced at 30 lakh rupees ($56,277 /
  13. surprise, cos there was no news previously... i think it should sell, presumably 350 wasn't selling that well cos people can't accept its engine capacity?
  14. After its world premiere in India last year, the 2014 Honda City made its Asian debut in Thailand recently. They will receive a total of six different variants starting from 550,000baht(S$21,000) for the base model which is fitted with a five-speed manual transmission. For those who want some convenience, they can opt for the new seven-speed CVT transmission which is said to improve efficiency and effectively replaces the old five-speed automatic. The new City gets a mildly improved 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine which churns out 120bhp and 145Nm of torque. Changes to the engine include a tweaked i-VTEC system, friction reduction (low tension oil seal, zigzag piston pattern coating) and weight reduction via an integrated resin intake manifold. Like its rival, the Vios, the 2014 Honda City also grew in terms of wheelbase length to improve its interior space. An increase of 50mm allows it to match the Nissan Almera’s wheelbase while overall length is just 25mm longer than the previous model. The Thailand-market City gets a seven-inch multimedia system which supports Bluetooth and other media connectivity features. An interesting feature for the 2014 Honda City is its touch-enabled automatic climate control system which is quite similar to Lexus’s IS saloon. It now also gets rear air-con vents which will prove useful in our country. Other niceties include keyless entry, push-start ignition and multi-function steering wheel with paddles shifters. Some of the cars with higher specifications will feature six airbags, VSA stability control, Hill Start Assist and a multi-angle rear view camera that allows you to adjust up to three different levels. To those who are keen on the car, expect the 2014 Honda City to reach our shores in the second quarter of this year.

  22. Man Utd to launch IPO here Posted: 16 August 2011 2144 hrs SINGAPORE: English Premier League football champions Manchester United is planning a US$1 billion initial public offering (IPO) in Singapore by year-end and according to the International Financing Review (IFR), Morgan Stanley is among some banks likely to win the IPO mandate. The region has become an important growth area for the loss-making club, which has nearly two-thirds of its 300 million fans in Asia. A report earlier this month had said the Glazer family, which controls the club, was looking to sell as much as 25 per cent in an offering. The IPO of a globally recognised brand such as Manchester United would be a coup for Singapore, which has been competing with Hong Kong for international listings. According to Reuters, Singapore's IPO proceeds for the first half of this year have reached $7.1 billion, but that is eclipsed by Hong Kong's $13.4 billion. -CNA/wk
