  1. the knight rider! America's Top Talent wasn't lacking for talent in the stripper department with Michelle L'amour in the house. And a smart stripper, too -- it's not often the contestants think to play to a judge's (i.e. David Hasselhoff's) ego. Ms. L'amour put together this creative bit starring a KITT lookalike and featuring the theme song with risque, albeit kitschy, sound bytes scattered throughout, melding a few of the things boys like best: sexy women and cars. Did she win? Brandy obviously wasn't enthused with the Finance major-turned-stripper's antics, evident as she punched the strike buttons of her fellow judges, but it was the viewers who eliminated her in the semi-finals. Thankfully, her stripteases remain on YouTube for the forseeable future.

  5. Excerpt from ST Will this be another top seller? TOYOTA is expected to launch the new Vios in March - barely four years after the current Vios was unveiled. The car is said to be based on the Toyota Belta, which is called the Yaris sedan in the United States. However, while the Belta is available with either a 1- or 1.3-litre engine, Singapore's Vios will pack a 1.5-litre unit. The car is said to be bigger and better equipped than the current model.

  7. http://www.autospectator.com/modules/news/...hp?storyid=6286 Mitsubishi News - Mitsubishi Introduces New 258-HP Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart To Spearhead Restyled, Refined 2007 Mitsubishi Galant Model Line Posted by admin on 2006/10/13 12:13:32 (117 reads) October 12, 2006 -- CYPRESS, Calif. -- Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) has introduced the new high-performance Galant Ralliart model to lead the restyled and enhanced Galant mid-size sedan line for 2007. The Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart is powered by a 258-hp 3.8-liter V-6 engine and equipped with a five-speed Sportronic® automatic transmission, sport suspension, 18-inch alloy wheels and exclusive exterior styling and interior features to challenge leading sport sedans - and to do it with better value. All Mitsubishi Galant models for 2007 add standard side curtain air bags to their comprehensive safety package, which also includes advanced front air bags with occupant sensors and front seat-mounted side-impact air bags. The Galant has achieved across-the-board five-star ratings in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) offset frontal and side impact crash tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded Galant its highest ranking - "Good" overall - in its frontal offset and side impact crash tests. The revised styling of all 2007 Mitsubishi Galant models is highlighted by a sophisticated new front-end treatment. Interior design and materials have been enhanced, and ride and handling have been refined to provide greater comfort and a more engaging driving experience. A new DVD navigation system with seven-inch touch screen is available as a factory option on the Galant Ralliart model. "The 2007 Galant Ralliart makes a resounding statement about Mitsubishi's "Driven to Thrill" performance and design with its bold, modern, and a uniquely Mitsubishi interpretation of what a mid-size performance sedan should be," said Hiroshi Harunari, president and chief executive officer of Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA). "The Ralliart shows the direction that we're taking the Galant - and the brand." New Styling, New Choices All Galant models for 2007 are identified by an updated, more sophisticated front end design featuring a new grille with chrome surround, plus a new front fascia and new bumper. The rear bumper fascia is also revised in line with the front appearance. An exclusive sport mesh grille, two-tone color bumpers, color-key side air dams, 18-inch alloy wheels and Ralliart badges distinguish the Galant Ralliart. Its front end also stands apart from other Galant models with projector-style four-bulb ellipsoid headlamps. With the arrival of the Galant Ralliart for 2007, the GTS model assumes a more luxury-leaning role in the lineup, in place of the discontinued LS model. The Galant DE and ES models are powered by a 160-hp MIVEC-enhanced 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine teamed to a standard four-speed automatic transmission with Sportronic, which enables manual shift control. Ralliart: A Complete Grand Touring Performance Package Galant Ralliart has the heart of a high-performance GT car - the Mitsubishi Eclipse GT, to be precise. Its 3.8-liter V-6 produces 258 hp at 5,700 rpm and 258 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 4,500 rpm, placing it among the most powerful models in the segment and making it a serious challenger to the Acura TSX and TL models and the MazdaSpeed 6. Galant Ralliart is capable of accelerating from zero-to-60 mph in about seven seconds. The Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) system helps optimize power and engine efficiency across a broad engine speed range. As an example of MIVEC's benefits, the large-displacement V-6 is already producing 220 lb.-ft. of torque at just 2,000 rpm, giving the Galant Ralliart forceful off-the-line response. The Galant GTS continues with a 230-hp version of the 3.8-liter V-6 and also gains the new five-speed Sportronic automatic transmission. The Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart features its own, higher-rate springs and dampers and is exclusively equipped with a 21-mm rear stabilizer bar. The Ralliart's 235/45R-18 all-season tires are mounted to 18 x 8-inch seven-spoke aluminum alloy wheels. Inside, Galant Ralliart combines exclusive design and luxurious appointments to rival more expensive models. Standard features in this special model include perforated leather-trimmed seating surfaces; heated front seats; an automatic climate control system; a power glass sunroof with sunshade, and Homelink transmitter with auto- dimming rear view mirror. Aluminum pedals and Micro-delta print accent panels further distinguish the Ralliart interior. Galant Ralliart Ready for Driving - and "Driving Music" Mitsubishi is the first auto manufacturer to factory-install the Rockford Acoustic Design premium audio system, making it standard equipment on the 2007 Galant Ralliart and available for Galant ES and GTS models. This high-end audio system - one of the most advanced on the market - provides AM/FM/CD/MP3 playback capability, including a 6-disc in-dash CD changer. The linear 8-channel amplifier produces 360 watts continuous at less than 0.02% THD. A dedicated channel drives each loudspeaker for the ultimate in sonic control. Silk dome tweeters mounted on the leading edge of the dash produce a natural multi-dimensional soundstage. Digital Signal Processing optimizes output to provide user-selectable listening environments, including "Normal," "Studio," "Club" and "Concert." The good sounds continue in Galant Ralliart with the standard SIRIUS Satellite Radio package with a six-month free subscription. This package is also available for the ES and GTS models. Galant Ralliart without the optional navigation system features a standard 4.9-inch color LCD display that provides outside temperature and a compass, as well as a trip computer with fuel mileage information, a door alarm indicator, maintenance recorder, and calendar. The display also provides an interface that allows owners to customize settings for many of the vehicle's interior functions. Robust Platform for Sporty Driving Fine-tuning the body structure for greater rigidity enhances ride and handling in all Mitsubishi Galant models for 2007. For the Galant Ralliart, the stiffened structure provides the ideal base for the exclusive sport suspension tuning and 18-inch alloy wheels with low-profile tires. The proven MacPherson strut design front suspension system attaches to a sub-frame with a large, rigid cross member for responsive handling and reduced noise, vibration and harshness. The low-mounted, multi-link rear suspension features stiff hydro-formed cross members that minimize flex and help reduce road noise. The Galant DE and ES models ride on standard 16-inch wheels with 215/60R16 tires; the GTS steps up to 17-inch alloy wheels with 215/55R17 tires. Ralliart and GTS models feature a standard tire pressure monitoring system, which is included in the optional Sport Package for the Galant ES. All Galant models are equipped with four-wheel disc brakes, with the GTS and Ralliart models featuring larger front discs, and the Ralliart also getting larger rear discs. An anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) is standard on all Galant models, except the DE. Enhanced Refinement for 2007 Galant provides a roomy midsize package with 101.1 cu. ft. of passenger space and a generous 37 inches of rear legroom - more room than the MazdaSpeed 6 or Volkswagen Jetta GLI sport sedans. For 2007, new door trim, a new knit-fabric headliner, new steering wheel design and chrome trim details convey a more refined appearance. New seat trim and color choices provide a warmer interior feeling than before. Premium Comfort, Great Value New for 2007, customers can infuse the Galant ES with some of the style and comfort of the V-6 Galant models by ordering the optional Sport Package and Premium Package. The Sport Package adds head-turning style with 16-inch alloy wheels, dark bezel halogen headlamps, crystal covered ellipsoid rear lamps, and a color-keyed rear spoiler. Inside, the Sport Package equips the ES model with the Rockford Acoustic Design premium audio system and the SIRIUS Satellite Radio package with six months free subscription. The ES Premium Package brings in leather-trimmed seating surfaces, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, power glass sunroof with sunshade, auto-dimming rear view mirror with Homelink transmitter and additional trim details. The Sun and Sound option package for the Galant GTS adds a power glass sunroof, the Rockford Acoustic Design premium audio system and the SIRIUS Satellite Radio package, auto-dimming rear view mirror with Homelink transmitter and anti-theft alarm system. All Galant models are built in the Mitsubishi manufacturing plant in Normal, Ill., one of the industry's most flexible assembly plants. In addition to the Galant, this facility produces the the Endeavor mid-size SUV; Eclipse coupe and Eclipse Spyder models. Premium Warranty Mitsubishi cars, sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks are backed by comprehensive new vehicle limited warranties. Mitsubishi cars and sport utility vehicles come with a 10-year/100,000 mile powertrain limited warranty, along with a 5-year/60,000 mile bumper to bumper new vehicle limited warranty. Mitsubishi pickup trucks are covered by a 5-year/60,000 mile bumper to bumper new vehicle limited warranty that also includes powertrain components. All Mitsubishi vehicles have a 7-year /100,000 mile anti-corrosion/perforation limited warranty, along with 5-years/unlimited miles Roadside Assistance, which includes free towing to the nearest authorized Mitsubishi retailer. Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc., (MMNA) is responsible for all manufacturing, finance, sales, marketing and research and development operations of the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation in the United States. Mitsubishi Motors sells coupes, convertibles, sedans, a mid-size pickup truck and sport utility vehicles through a network of approximately 540 dealers. 2007 Mitsubishi Galant At-A-Glance The new Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart spearheads the restyled and enhanced Galant mid-size sedan line for 2007. Galant Ralliart is a complete performance package, designed to challenge leading sport sedans, but with better value. Galant Ralliart is exclusively powered by a 258-hp 3.8-liter MIVEC V-6 engine and equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission with Sportronic to allow manual gearshift control. The MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control) system helps optimize engine efficiency and power across a broad engine speed range. The Galant Ralliart can accelerate from zero-to-60 mph in about seven seconds. Ralliart-tuned sport suspension and 18-inch alloy wheels yield sharp handling response, and this special model is distinguished by exclusive exterior styling and interior features. Galant Ralliart treats occupants with perforated leather-trimmed seating surfaces, heated front seats, automatic climate control system, power glass sunroof and Homelink transmitter with auto dimming rear view mirror. Its standard Rockford Acoustic Design premium audio system includes SIRIUS Satellite Radio with a six-month free subscription. Galant offers three other trim levels for 2007: the DE and ES models are powered by a MIVEC-enhanced 160-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine teamed to a four-speed automatic transmission with Sportronic. The GTS steps up to a 230-hp 3.8-liter V-6 with the five-speed Sportronic transmission. All Galant models get a sophisticated new look for 2007 with redesigned front and rear bumper fascias and a new grille with chrome surround. The Ralliart is further distinguished by a unique front aero bumper, sport mesh grille projector-style ellipsoid headlamps, two-tone bumpers and color-keyed side air dams. Galant's interior design and materials have been enhanced, and ride and handling refined to provide greater comfort and a more engaging driving experience. The Galant Ralliart model also offer a new DVD navigation system with a seven-inch touch screen. The Rockford Acoustic Design premium audio system with SIRIUS Satellite Radio package is also available for the ES and GTS. New for 2007, customers can infuse the Galant ES with some of the style and comfort of the V-6 Galant models by ordering the optional Sport Package and Premium Package. All Galant models for 2007 add standard side curtain air bags to the comprehensive safety package, which also includes advanced front air bags with occupant sensors and front seat-mounted side-impact air bags. The Galant achieved across-the-board 5-star ratings in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) offset frontal and side impact crash tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded Galant its highest ranking - "Good" overall - in its frontal offset and side impact crash tests.
  8. Brought to you by the letter Kei: Mitsubishi's new eK Wagon and eK Sport Posted Sep 13th 2006 4:12PM by Alex Nunez Filed under: Economy, Wagons/Estates, Japan, Mitsubishi New kei cars are fun to cover. The impossibly small yet practical Japanese minicars manage to cram a lot of style and usability into a tight package. Mitsubishi's eK Wagon series has been a strong seller since its introduction in 2001, and the redesigned version (on sale today across Japan) looks to build on that success. The new eK boasts a power sliding door on the driver's passenger side, a first for "bonnet-type" minicars. ("Bonnet-type" simply means the car's nose protrudes in the traditional sense.) The system uses hidden door rails, keeping the small exterior nice and tidy. Obviously, with small, tall wagons, there's not a lot you can do, stylewise, but Mitsubishi does a good job, giving the eK Wagon a clean look with friendly face. The eK Sport gets sterner features up front, and muscles up with front and rear spoilers, sill extensions, and 14" alloys. Inside, the staid eK Wagon gets a grey and beige interior, while the eK Sport gets done up in all black. Optional Recaros can dress up the Sport even further. Both cars can be fitted with upgraded stereos, nav and other convenience features. (Continues after the jump. Pics, press release follow as well) [source: Mitsubishi] The eK is a kei car, so the presence of a 660cc engine should come as no surprise. The normally-aspirated version in the eK wagon makes 50 hp, and the turbocharged eK Sport R (the eK Sport X gets the base engine) pumps out 64 horses. As is usually the case with these types of cars, both 2WD and AWD versions are available. Depending on trim level, the cars can be fitted with a 5-speed manual, 3-speed auto, or 4-speed auto. The new eK is a nice, traditional counterweight to its radical-looking kei sibling, the i. In the case of the eK Sport R, we'd go so far as to say it's pretty damn cool. Be on the lookout for a Nissan-branded version as well. It's already been announced that Mitsubishi will supply Nissan with eK wagons to be and sold under a different name. The current Nissan Otti is a rebadged version of the previous-gen Mitsubishi eK. At the end of the photo gallery below, we've included shots of the outgoing eK and its Nissan doppleganger. (i removed liaoz.. SAME SHAPE means same shape, waste time... lolz) Update: Our friends at Autoblog Green weigh in on the cleaner-burning engine in the normally-aspirated eK models. PHOTOS eK Wagon: eK Sport: PRESS RELEASE: Mitsubishi Motors launches new eK Wagon & eK Sport - "Great minicar wagon": Bringing a smile to one and all - Tokyo, September 13, 2006 - Mitsubishi Motors Corporation today launched fully redesigned eK Wagon and eK Sport models at affiliated dealerships throughout Japan on September 13, 2006. Developed to a "convenience", "peace-of-mind" and "feel-good" theme, features distinguishing the new eK series include a power sliding door, the first on a bonnet-type passenger minicar, and a comprehensive small-item storage and utility specification that offers outstanding usability. Tax inclusive prices for 2WD and 4WD eK Wagon models range from 913,500 yen to 1,222,200 yen, and for 2WD and 4WD eK Sport models from 1,260,000 yen to 1,484,700 yen. The first eK series debuted in October 2001. It was developed to establish a generation- and gender-transcending "minicar standard" that would enjoy the support of a wide spectrum of users. Features defining the concept and readily embraced by its broad customer base include its "simple, clean and basic" design, its "semi-tall packaging" that is just right for easy ingress/egress and for Japan's multi-level tower car parks and its comprehensive equipment and amenities specification that gives careful attention to owner needs. These selling points drove total eK series sales over 480,000 units to make it one of Mitsubishi Motors best selling models. Development of the second generation eK Wagon and eK Sport was directed at retaining and evolving the well-received "practical and basic minicar standard" position that defined the first series. Taking its cue from Mitsubishi Motors "Back to the basics of car building excellence" stance, the company conducted extensive research to obtain a detailed understanding of latent needs in a broad spectrum of current and potential owners and users. The research included: conventional user clinics; behavioral studies of consumers at supermarket car parks; interviews with parents at children's class meetings; and interviewing pet owners and vets at veterinary surgeries. The research led to a number of "discoveries" that had gone unobserved to date and related to unexpected instances of joy, happiness and dissatisfaction on the part of minicar users. These discoveries are reflected in the Multi-position Utility system that allows the interior to be easily customized and other "evolving" changes as well as in the "deepening" detail improvements made to component and parts. The new eK brings a real smile to the driver and passengers as they feel for themselves the evolution in the "convenience," "peace-of-mind" and "feel-good" elements that make it the "great minicar wagon" and the daily life partner it is. The new eK delivers category-topping levels of environmental performance. The use of a new catalytic converter sees naturally aspirated engine models earn 4-star ratings for emissions that are 75% lower than the requirements of the Japanese 2005 Emission Regulations, while intercooler/turbocharged models earn 3-star rating for emissions that are 50% lower than the requirement. Using a deodorizing head lining and Clean Air Filter with odor-remover the new eK meets in advance the standards laid down in JAMA's Voluntary Requirements of VOC*1 Levels. Other features contributing to its pleasant and comfortable interior include the use of Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified seat fabric and solar control glass. ------- the chairs look a tad cheapo though. dun think it will b a fun compared to the "i". thanks god they still hv a steering wheel. otherwise the front dashboards looks like .... ahem.

  10. from today's ST.... TOKYO - Toyota Motor Corp, Japan's biggest auto maker, is considering delaying the introduction of some new models by as much as half a year amid a series of recalls and quality problems, the Wall Street Journal said on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter. Toyota, which has built its reputation on offering safe and reliable cars at reasonable prices, is plagued with a rise in vehicle recalls and faces a legal probe into its past recall practice. To improve quality, the car maker is considering adding as much as three to six months to development lead time, which is usually two to three years, affecting a relatively wide range of projects, the paper said. The next Sienna minivan, Solara sports coupe and Avalon sedan are among models that could be affected, it said. Toyota spokeswoman Shiori Hashimoto said the company would not comment on its strategy and the timing of product introductions. Toyota has recalled more than one million vehicles in Japan so far this year and issued a recall of some 400,000 SUVs in the United States, its single-biggest market, in July. It is being investigated by prosecutors in Kumamoto, southern Japan, over whether its quality-control managers wrongly delayed a recall filing that could have prevented a road accident in 2004 that injured a couple and their three young children. Toyota has forecast group-based global sales of 8.85 million units and production of 9.06 million units for 2006 - figures that could soon see it overtake General Motors Corp as the world's biggest car maker. -- REUTERS
  11. Two Toyota models to use NGV YUTHANA PRAIWAN Toyota plans to introduce two car models that use natural gas for vehicles (NGV), in response to alternative-fuel promotion in Thailand and soaring global oil prices. Ninnart Chaithirapinyo, a vice-chairman for Toyota Motor Thailand, said the firm planned to manufacture two NGV-fuelled vehicle models for the Thai market, the 11-seat van Toyota Ventury, and the Toyota Limo passenger car. It will take six to 12 months to prepare engine and specification details before commercial production can begin. Mr Ninnart noted comments at an Energy Ministry seminar yesterday that the sharp increase in oil prices had affected vehicle sales in the Thai market during the first half of this year. However, total sales dropped only 3.2% compared to the same period last year, much lower than those of other industries. In the second half of this year, political uncertainty would be the most negative factor in the local vehicle market, while rising oil prices and interest rates would continue to be negative factors globally, Mr Ninnart said. ''I agree with the Thai government allowing local oil prices to float to raise energy-saving awareness among people. Too much interference will erode investor confidence,'' he said. Mr Ninnart believed that foreign investors, particularly Japanese, remained confident in Thailand's economy because of its promising infrastructure and geographical advantages. However, he said the country needed to improve its human resources to serve further overseas investment. Chitrapongse Kwangsukstith, a senior vice-president of PTT Plc overseeing the gas business, said local reserves of NGV, or compressed natural gas (CNG), would last for up to 30 years. The government has a plan to replace 10% of oil consumption in the transport sector with NGV in the next five years, with 5,000 million cubic feet per day of the gas. Around 20% of oil consumption in the transport sector is targeted to be replaced by NGV in the next 20 years http://www.bangkokpost.com/Business/19Jul2006_biz51.php at least the thai gahment got a PLAN... our LTA seems to hv clueless blondes.
