  1. Just wondering what do you guys do when you leave your car at the workshop for servicing/repairs that take just a few hours?
  2. Fiery plane crash at Madrid airport kills 153 By HAROLD HECKLE
  3. http://www.straitstimes.com/Singapore/Stor...ory_265627.html They should have known that academics are an argumentative bunch First, they make the teaching profession a sweatshop, with teachers doubling up for admin jobs, and long vacations largely a memory. Next, they'll start tackling the polys. And next?? You got to love this guy they interviewed: Cutting leave is supposed to... "the aim of the review was to come up with a 'compelling career pathway' and 'attractive pay package' and that annual leave was just one aspect of the package. " And this is "competitiveness", Singapore-style: "The review, he said, 'is necessary to ensure that our compensation and career development framework remains competitive'. " ... basically, well, nobody else is offering 42-day leave nowadays, so we can safely cut it down and still compete
  4. I wonder is it safe to leave our car at car dealer (trade assist) for selling? I mean are they trustworthy? Willl they do anything funny to our ride?
  5. July 04 2008 Richard Hammond and James May's futures at Top Gear are in doubt because of an argument over salaries. Their contracts run out at the end of the month, but they have not yet signed a new one leading to fears they may leave the show. The report in the MediaGuardian revealed that the two stars were unhappy that their salaries weren't more inline with that of the show's main host, Jeremy Clarkson. Clarkson has apparently negotiated a pay rise which includes profit share of Top Gear rights around the world. A source told the Guardian: "Internally there is talk that there might be a chance for the first time that there could be a break up of the team, it has got that bad. "There has been a lot of pulling out of hair, a Mexican stand-off. For the first time it is possible that one or both might leave. They don't want to accept second status anymore. There has been a meltdown in negotiations." http://cars.uk.msn.com/News/car_news_artic...umentid=8796866 Money money money... again...

  7. can start to plan/geng for 2008 holidays ======================== IF YOU think 2008 is going to be a bit of a slog, relax. Just take eight days of annual leave, tag them to a few public holidays and you get a series of long weekends that add up to 37 days off work. Even without taking any leave, there are already four long weekends. Singapore Idle, indeed. It is all thanks to the fluky way public holidays fall next year. Apart from Hari Raya Aidilfitri - a Wednesday - all the days off are close to weekends, so taking an extra day adds up to a four-day break. The first long weekend is already under way if you have taken tomorrow off, but the next one is not far off. Chinese New Year falls on Thursday and Friday in February, so by taking an additional three days of leave, you can enjoy a nine-day break. Manager Lim Suat Aik, 45, is looking forward to her Chinese New Year break. She used to take about four days of leave to spend eight days with her family in Malaysia. This year, she will need to take only three days off to get nine days away. 'I get to see my family only about once in two years so this time, I can spend more time catching up with my parents and siblings, and just relaxing,' said Ms Lim. Travel agencies said the holiday-friendly calendar, coupled with the healthy economy and good bonuses, has boosted bookings over next year's long weekends. Dynasty Travel said bookings for the Chinese New Year period have gone up by 20 per cent compared with last year. Most of its tours to popular destinations such as Australia and Japan are fully booked. SA Tours spokesman Ruth Lim said the agency is expecting a 20 to 30 per cent increase in profits next year due to the long weekends.
  8. This is not the way to communicate to me, says a driver, who was left a brick on the hood of his car. Recounted the STOMPer: "The owner of 145 Killiney use concrete blocks to send a message. "I parked there after a friend told me there is "free" parking behind his house. "When I returned, there was a one foot long concrete block on my car. I checked with another car owner and realise that it was actually charged parking there. "However, there are no signs that said so, no barriers and no "no tresspassing" nor other signages. "This is not the way to do it lor.. A note on the windscreen would have suffice! Picture is of another clueless driver behind my car.
  9. Driving up my multi storey carpark as usual, will pass by my loves, upon seeing them, there is this sinking feeling something is just not right, one of them seems out of her parking lot, it's being knock down and brought up again, my beloved Yamaha. My car is scratched, i am ok, my car have dinks on the side...i am ok, but when my bike is being knocked down......THAT DRIVE ME CRAZY! Luckily this neighbour from the same level heard 2 loud bangs, stick her head out the window and saw the car leaving and she took the plate down. So.....I went to make a police report, idac accident report, paid $5.35 LTA and get a print out of the car's insurance company's name, sent my bike to Yamaha, and guess what, after a week, the driver got my number after TP gave him a ring and offered to pay for my repairs. 6 weeks for my bike to be repaired, still awaiting parts from Japan. From this incident, one lesson is learned, if knocked a parked vehicle, make damn sure no see us before we go or write a note and leave it on the vehical. By the way, the driver knock down my bike from his front as he was on the line.......

  11. when we leave the car at the workshop for 2/3 days for repair, what liability do the workshop cover ? 1. the mech take the car for a sprint and crash ? 2. the mech take the car for a nightout and rev till cows come home ? 3. the mech smoke and dirty the car interior ? seems like end user is left with no choice and leave everything to the workshop how they want to handle your car. the only think i did was record the milleage when i leave the car at the workshop. anyway, they can debate that they need to do a few runs to test and tune the car as part of the repair work. thanks
  12. I did my 1,000km servicing a month after I collected it. (oil and filter was changed) I have just hit 9,000km and sent car in for 10,000km service. I know FULL SYN oil is good for 20,000km before it needs to be replaced. I told AutoFrance I want it replace at my own cost but they insist that it is a waste. What do you guys think? Also, my car is already in but I was thinking if I want oil and filter change, can I get it elsewhere and send it in later? What are your advises? Thanks Vincent Ang
