(AFP Photo) It was supposed to be a graduation trip to Singapore for a group of Malaysian primary school students, but now, their teachers and principal are accused of abandoning them to visit the casino. 6. GOOD BYE ROY HODGSON!! Roy Hodgson and Liverpool part company Hodgson had only managed one away win in the league this season Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has left the club by mutual consent. Hodgson, 63, had won only seven of their 20 Premier League games since he took over from Rafael Benitez in July 2010 with the club 12th in the table. Former player and manager Kenny Dalglish has been placed in charge until the rest of the season. "Both parties thought it in the best interests of the club that he stand down," said American owner John Henry in a statement on the club's website. Hodgson refused to answer questions on his future at Anfield following Liverpool's 3-1 defeat by Blackburn on Wednesday, the club's third defeat in four Premier League games. And when his press conference ahead of Liverpool's FA Cup third-round match against Manchester United on Sunday was cancelled on Friday, it fuelled further speculation that the former Fulham manager's tenure was drawing to a close. "I have, however, found the last few months some of the most challenging of my career," read a statement from Hodgson on the club's website. "I am very sad not to have been able to put my stamp on the squad, to be given the time to bring new players into the club in this transfer window and to have been able to be part of the rebuilding process at Liverpool." More to follow. bye bye!

  8. Anyone got experience this before? Recently, i realise that whenever I want to pump air into my tires, the front left one is always at 13-15PSI while the rest of the tires are around 27PSI. I will proceed to top up to 30PSI for all wheels and after 3 weeks, when i want to top up again, the front left tire is always back to 13-15 PSI. Has happened many times - is this a sign i need to get my front left tire changed?
  9. AND PASS THROUGH 2 f--kING ERPS. JESUS CHRIST. Ugh. And I took Westcoast Highway too! Didn't take AYE. The intersection between WCHW and Clementi road was a bitch. 10. A light hearted remark with very serious undertones: The recent 9 quarters of property prices run have made a lot of paper millionaires. Similarly there are many who committed buying those properties at peak prices. Those prices can only move down from now on. With recent govt announced measures to cool the market, it seems that it may just work. But inside this govt toolbox there are plenty of other measures they are waiting to use to engineer a slow drop in property prices. It is in thier best interest that properties do not appreciate thogh they may say otherwise. Singapore's polpulatio increase is mainly at the base of the pyramid, mostly low salaried workers. Even though the rich do come and snap up pricier ones, their numbers pale to the widening base. Therefore the means would still hover around the same prices....no change. In the past I have posted that many WILL get their burnt. Many are. They are now stuck with properties they cannot dispose of. And like the share market, there will be some stubborn ones who die-die will hold on in the hope of a rebound. They just lack the balls to cut loss and move on. Otherwise they are in the rut for a long long time. Cannot move ...cannot do anything...life stops. But in the end they will selll at a huge loss because they have not discipline in making the right decisions early. I have advised those that I know of to make those quick decisions. It is better to have a smaller place that is fully paid up than a bigger one which continnues to incur mortgage which becoming depreciating assets. It is also better to cut and run and be able to take further participation when the market moves again as compared to being held ransom to the knowing threat of dropping prices. In a years time, lets see who is left holding the baby. Will it be you?

  15. Hello guys... Am facing a frustrating problem here.....I've got this knocking sound on the left front side of my EP70 when driving (around the left axle area), the knocking sound usually comes when moving on moderately bumpy roads. This happened some 3-4 months ago untill it got unbearable, at first it was knocking sounds when travelling straight, then it just got unbearable when the knocking sound would happen even when I turn steer left (yes, only when i steer left, no sound when steer right). I didn't plan on repairing it because she's due to scrap in 2013, but it just got unbearable and for safety concerns as well, I decided to get it looked at. 3 weeks ago, went to my mech, was advised that ball joint bearing worn out badly, he also recommended a change of suspension and suspension mounting. Thinking that its left with 3 years, ok la, do it lor since the price quoted was reasonable for my understanding and that my existing suspension was already quite chui, use 4 fingers can push the car down easily .. Ok, I paid $340 for the following: 1) 2 x ball joint bearing 2) 2 x front suspension 3) 2 x suspension mounting 4) 2 x suspension cover 5) Labour charges After repairing, the knocking sound is still there!...went back and got my wheels aligned, and the sound is still there! Wha, really damn sian to keep going back to the mech every weekend. Well..I'm planning for a trip down to Saber on Hari Raya Eve...for now, any EP70/80 brothers encountered this problem before? Please share. Frustrated Butcher

  17. Many are unaware of poisoning caused by re-using plastic bottles. Some of you may be in the habit of using and re-using your disposable mineral water bottles (eg. Evian, Aqua, Ice Mountain, Vita, etc), keeping them in your car or at work. Not a good idea. In a nutshell, the plastic (called polyethylene terephthalate or PET) used in these bottles contains a potentially carcinogenic element (something called diethylhydroxylamine or DEHA). The bottles are safe for one-time use only; if you must keep them longer, it should be or no more than a few days, a week max, and keep them away from heat as well. Repeated washing and rinsing can cause the plastic to break down and the carcinogens (cancer-causing chemical agents) can leach into the water that YOU are drinking. Better to invest in water bottles that are really meant for multiple uses. This is not something we should be scrimping on. Those of you with family - to please advise them, especially children." any recommendations for a good water bottle that can withstand heat?
  18. How? Any parts of the body still can sound proof? only 4-doors.. boot can?
  19. Hi bros, Need some advice. My car pulls left the moment I let go the steering wheel. It bad enough that within 1 lamp post length, half my car in another lane already. Its not the usual subtle left drifting that occurs on roads crown to the left due to drainage runoffs. In order to travel straight, the 12o'clock position on my steering wheel is pointing at 1o'clock position (around 1 inch to the right). Went to see Kenny but not able to rectify. Anyone else got further advise? Thanks in advance!
  20. No matter in highway or normal street, my car always keep to left. I did wheel balancing and wheel alighnment. tire air pressure checked. also recently change tires. Pls advise.
  21. wah just saw the news on CH8 and went dig out this...really power sia...thk maybe boleh land will start riots liao... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100127/ap_on_...aysia_allah_ban Kuala Lumpur Mosques desecrated with pig's head - symbolic tit-for-tat for attack on 11 churches and sikh temple Four wild-boar heads were thrown early this morning into the compound of two mosques along Jalan Klang Lama, a major road in the southwest of Kuala Lumpur. Not quite the same as burning a church down ~ and no doubt pigs ran wild over all of Malaysia at one time - in this case a good mop and bucket will do the trick. One thing must be said that the Malaysia authorities have moved quickly to arrest those responsible for the attacks on the non-Muslim places of worship - which is almost completely at odds with the way it works in the rest of the Muslim world - where most attacks are carried out with impunity - in some case the police are there as witnesses. The Koran calls for a very definite second class status for non-Muslims living among Muslims in the Islamic world - and most of the time this is respected over universal human rights norms. Kuala Lumpur (AsiaNews) - Some mosques in Kuala Lumpur have been desecrated with pig's heads. The remains of the animal - which is considered "unclean" by Muslims - were scattered in fields adjacent the places of worship. The police speak of a link between this incident and recent attacks on Christian churches, which broke out following the controversy over the use of the word "Allah". AsiaNews sources confirm that there is an ongoing in Malaysia attempt to " politically destabilize the country". In the last few weeks 11 Christian churches and Protestants, a Sikh temple and Muslim places of worship have been affected. Inter-religious tensions in Malaysia exploded after the court ruling last December 31, which authorized Christians to use the word "Allah" to refer to God in the Malay language. Musa Hassan, chief of police, points a finger at "a group" that aims to stoke sectarian hatred in a country with a Muslim majority, but that is also home to large Chinese and Indian communities. Hazelaihi Abdullah, imam of the mosque in Taman Dato Harun, confirmed the discovery of a severed pig's head near the place of worship. A similar episode occurred in the nearby mosque of Al Imam al Tirmizi and the mosque of Sri Sentosa, on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur. Hishammuddin Hussein, Minister for Foreign Affairs, condemned the attempt to "create chaos in the country." The Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism - a body that promotes interfaith dialogue - has issued a statement stressing that "all violence against places of worship and prayer is a very serious sin" and has invited civil society "not to give in to provocation". AsiaNews sources in Kuala Lumpur confirm ongoing attempts to " politically destabilize the country." "Some people
  22. Isn't it common sense that when on merging lane, cars will alternate to merge? Why some motorist insist don't want to give way? Incident happen to me just now on Keppel Way/Road. While joining in the queue to enter ECP... Got this silver Stream or Wish that's following a blue Freed Taxi on the right lane. My car ,traveling on the left lane, was in front of silver MPV but behind taxi. The silver MPV die die stick to the Taxi in front like a leech. I was force to travel up the slope on the road shoulder and the silver car still don't want to give way. In the end, I've to roll down my window and raise my hand before the silver MPV finally gave way. Thinking abt the incident I suspect that the MPV driver thought I was queue jumping? The merging lane there is something rather recent, so the driver may not realise it... Anyway, I'll be interested to hear the other side of the story. If anyone happen to see complain on other forum or thread or somehow know the MPV driver. Please let him know abt this thread or post his reply. Time : Abt 3-4 plus Location : Keppel Way/Road from Vivo/West Coast Merging lane towards ECP Vechicles involve : My car - Blue Renault Megane Silver MPV (either Stream or new Wish)
  23. Any Sunny owner has this problem? When the car is old, in the morning, when I go over a hump, there will be a click-clock sound. The sound is coming from the left front shock absorber. After the car has been running for a while, the sound disappears. My friend's Sunny has exactly the same problem.
  24. This is just so sad.....really don't know what to say man... Teen with H1N1 flu left to fend for herself http://www.asiaone.com/Health/News/Story/A...208-184692.html By Crystal Chan You're down with fever and need tender-loving care. Who do you turn to? Family, of course. Not so for Laura Lee. The 15-year-old student has been left alone to battle the H1N1 virus at home for almost two weeks. Her parents moved out of their three-room flat in Ang Mo Kio to stay with relatives, leaving her to fend for herself. The reason: Fear. So afraid are they of being infected that they won't even bring food to their only child. They stay in touch by calling her on the phone every day. Reluctant to leave home because she doesn't want to risk infecting others, Laura has been surviving on only instant noodles and plain porridge. Laura told the The New Paper on Sunday that she came down with a fever on 22 Nov. She went to see a GP, who gave her normal flu medication. Laura said: "I thought it was the common flu and I'd hoped to recover by last weekend as I was meeting a friend to celebrate her birthday." But Laura's plans were dashed. She had gone for a blood test on 24 Nov. On the same day, her parents moved out. They had suspected her illness to be more than the common flu. The results the next day confirmed that she had H1N1. By then, her temperature was 39.3 degrees Celsius. Before moving out, her mother, Mrs Lily Lee, 45, a housewife, had become worried when Laura showed no sign of improvement. Her dad, Mr Andy Lee, 52, is a call centre officer at a government agency. The couple moved out to stay with Mr Lee's brother and sister-in-law. Since the effects of H1N1 have been shown to be mild, contact tracing and quarantine orders are generally not required. Fear Mr Lee and his wife declined comment, but their nephew, Mr Paul Lee, 42, an odd-job worker, explained that the couple was afraid of falling ill. He said: "They're not that young. If they get H1N1, they fear their bodies may not be able to fight it. "The virus could be all over their flat so they don't feel comfortable even leaving food on the doorstep for Laura." But aren't they being irresponsible by leaving their young daughter to fend for herself? Mr Lee said: "There's enough vegetables and meat in the fridge, and Laura can make instant noodles. "She's old enough to look after herself. "Besides, it's only for a short while and the rest of the family are still contactable by handphone." He pointed out that Laura's parents call her every day to check on her. He said: "Once Laura recovers and has been given the all-clear, my uncle and aunt will go home." But Dr Vincent Chia, deputy medical director of Healthway Medical Group, feels Laura's parents are overreacting. Said Dr Chia: "Her parents should have just got a H1N1 vaccination and they'd be safe. They could also practise good hygiene, if they continued to live with her, such as washing their hands thoroughly and wearing masks. "They're overreacting by moving out, especially when she needs care and attention." He added that H1N1 is preventable and treatable and should not be treated like Sars. Only those aged 65 years and above, children under 5, pregnant women, and adults and children with underlying medical problems such as asthma and diabetes, face a higher risk of developing complications from H1N1. Laura said her parents do not have existing health problems. But she understands how her parents feel. "At their age," said Laura over the phone. "I can understand that they're more anxious about their health. "They could have gotten vaccinated, but they were afraid after reading about the side effects in the media." As of 22 Nov, the Health Sciences Authority's Vigilance Branch, which monitors vaccine safety on the national level, received 27 adverse event reports suspected to be associated with the use of a H1N1 vaccine not manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline. Of the 27 people in Singapore who came down with adverse reactions after being vaccinated, most have recovered. The reactions included minor anticipated side effects such as fever, rashes, flu-like symptoms, headaches, nausea and vomiting. "These reactions are commonly expected from all flu vaccines and most of these reactions are resolved within a few days," the HSA spokesman had said. Daily monitoring Laura takes her temperature daily with a thermometer that her school issued earlier this year, when the H1N1 virus broke out in Mexico. She also has two boxes of surgical masks in case she needs to visit a pandemic-preparedness clinic if her fever worsens. She refuses to leave home as she does not want to spread her illness. "Keeping myself busy is not a problem as the medicine makes me drowsy so I'm asleep for half the day," said Laura, who spends the rest of her time watching TV and surfing the Internet, or chatting online with friends. Her friends have offered to take food to her, but she does not want to bother them. She said: "I don't even have a good appetite because of the medicine I'm taking. "For now, I just want to get well soon. I'm still running a fever."
