  1. anyone knows what is the max db exhaust noise level allow by LTA?
  2. The following is an article from GermanFanclub.com "The 2.0 TFSI delivers 170 bhp in the Audi A6. This free-revving, high-torque and, at the same time, economical engine combines petrol direct injection with a turbocharger. Audi was the first manufacturer to introduce this technology in series production. Boasting 280 Nm of torque, available across a wide speed range from 1800 to 4200 rpm, the FSI engine offers excellent pulling power at any time. The A6 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds and touches a top speed of 227 km/h. Its fuel consumption measures just 7.9 litres per 100 km." I believe this is a good alternative to the E200 and 520i in Singapore.
  3. Pretty simple question... does anyone know the voltage from a high level output? My low levels are 4v and i know there are some HU's with a 5v output.
  4. well, by now all knows that oil price is moving up and up. i remembered the SA mentioned to me when i collected my Aveo Sedan 1 year ago that i better go for 95 petrol. with the oil price going up, i tried getting 92 for 2 tank full now, surpricingly the Fuel consumption improves by a little. issue is, is it okay to use 92 for Aveo (not the new aveo5)? will it "kill" my engine prematurely?
  5. You must be wondering why I post such a thread in detailing section I just returned from IMM and I was impressed by the new extension carpark at 5th level. The extension is very well lighted and I felt as if my car is parked in a car show! Very nice reflection and the depth of the paint can be seen. Sorry no pics though. A place for detailers to park and self admire their polished rides after a hard day of detailing
  6. Hi all, Me newbie in car audio.. My set as below: Clarion 846 HU Alpine MRP-F240 amp mb quart component front spk infinity 3 way rear spk I had been trying to tune my amp but i noticed even when i set the gain to the min or to max..there is not very much difference in the sound being play out.. However i noticed when i tuned the bass eq to more than mid level..the bass of the rear become very bommy. I had been following the manual to tune the amp. As per manual, tune the gain of the amp to min and turn the vol of HU to a reasonable level till the sound distorted. Then lower the volume of the hu by one level. Next tune the amp by increasing the gain till the sound distorted and drop by one level. Can any bro highlight to me what can you expect when you tune your amp gain from min to max. I do hear some difference but not very big..can tht be due to my amp is only a 40w rms per channel? Please advise . Thanks
  7. Just to find out what could be the could of:- 1) Engine Oil (fully syn) increased after 7,000km 2) Engine Oil colour turned from dark 'bronze' brown to redish brown 3) Engine Oil pressure warning light lit up in cold start These happen to my friend's car.
  8. Hi all: I am running a active subwoofer with a attached control with level control, phase and low frequency filter. Powering my sub is a Pioneer Hu with also the level control, phase and low frequency filter control function. Can I check with anyone here what sort of settings I should make to both of them. For example, should I set the sub's level control to the highest on my HU and then tuning it to my preference via the level control on my subwoofer. Or is it the other way round? What about the low frequency filter? Should the frequency that I cut bass off be the same with what I set on the HU and that of what I set on the subwoofer itself? Anyone any advise? Do you think I should just remove the remote control of my Subwoofer and just use my HU totally to control the bass output? Thanks in advance.
  9. Hi guys, I noticed that my front right suspension seems to be lower than the front left one. Also, my wheel alignment is also out... I am thinking of correcting the alignment, but is there anything I can do about the suspension? If I leave it like this, will there be any problem with the mechanical, stability and safety of the car? Thanks
  10. Hey! I need to check to with you on the order of the level for the soundstream amplifier. Could you help me to place the order ? 1. Reference series 2. Rubicon 3. TruSound 4. EGA 5. VGa 6. Picasso 7. Van Gogh 8. DaVinci 9. Exact Thanks cheers sucker!
  11. wat happen when get caught with less than 3/4 tank? wat's the best timing to go in when fuel is less than 3/4 tank?
  12. Notice that the water level in the reserved water tank keeps decreasing, but quite slowly. I suspect there might be some leakage. This happens after I got my aircon serviced. Could that have cause the leakage due to improper servicing? Appreciate any advice here. Thanks.
  13. Hi Guys... have to ask some really noob questions so please bear with me k.. thanx in advance. 1. Does the engine oil last until your first servicing for new car? 2. If 1/2 way engine oil level v low, is it ok to just buy and pour in? 3. If can pour in, why need to flush engine oil and add new one? 4. New car 5k oredi engine oil level near empty, wad reason can it be? Went to check the engine oil level and found it near empty, heart nearly jump out. Wonder wad will happen if i keep driving the car and never check. Engine Oil leak?!!?! Jon
  14. Truth is, would have plonged down deposit last week for City but undecided b/c of the very basic equipment level. To pay 7k+ more for an equivalent level as Vios, is too much for me esp when I don't mind not having a VTEC engine. Is it possible to order a City iDSI with 2SRS, ABS/EBD configuration? Any idea how much?
  15. Should ATF level be checked when engine is cold or hot? Equally important, should it be checked with the engine idling or switched off (reading is very different for both cases)? BTW, mine is a CVT. Thanks.
  16. Read the tyre review in this mth's torque mag. Contrary to what many folks say and it's UHP rating, it's classified onli as a level B tyre. Also, the review says it's a relatively quiet tyre, but many folks say it's noisy. What gives??
  17. Hey guys and the occassional gals I changed my engine oil last week and while checking the dip stick today, noticed that the oil level is 5mm above the max dot. Some questions... [ol] [*]Should I drain it out? [*]Is it possible to drain out only the excess without draining the rest? [*]Do I need to bring extra oil for this draining precedure?[/ol] Thanks Cool_jazz
  18. The octane rating of gasoline tells you how much the fuel can be compressed before it spontaneously ignites. When gas ignites by compression rather than because of the spark from the spark plug, it causes knocking in the engine. Knocking can damage an engine, so it is not something you want to have happening. Lower-octane gas (like "regular" 87-octane gasoline) can handle the least amount of compression before igniting. The compression ratio of your engine determines the octane rating of the gas you must use in the car. One way to increase the horsepower of an engine of a given displacement is to increase its compression ratio. So a "high-performance engine" has a higher compression ratio and requires higher-octane fuel. The advantage of a high compression ratio is that it gives your engine a higher horsepower rating for a given engine weight -- that is what makes the engine "high performance." The disadvantage is that the gasoline for your engine costs more. The name "octane" comes from the following fact: When you take crude oil and "crack" it in a refinery, you end up getting hydrocarbon chains of different lengths. These different chain lengths can then be separated from each other and blended to form different fuels. For example, you may have heard of methane, propane and butane. All three of them are hydrocarbons. Methane has just a single carbon atom. Propane has three carbon atoms chained together. Butane has four carbon atoms chained together. Pentane has five, hexane has six, heptane has seven and octane has eight carbons chained together. It turns out that heptane handles compression very poorly. Compress it just a little and it ignites spontaneously. Octane handles compression very well -- you can compress it a lot and nothing happens. Eighty-seven-octane gasoline is gasoline that contains 87-percent octane and 13-percent heptane (or some other combination of fuels that has the same performance of the 87/13 combination of octane/heptane). It spontaneously ignites at a given compression level, and can only be used in engines that do not exceed that compression ratio. During WWI, it was discovered that you can add a chemical called tetraethyl lead to gasoline and significantly improve its octane rating. Cheaper grades of gasoline could be made usable by adding this chemical. This led to the widespread use of "ethyl" or "leaded" gasoline. Unfortunately, the side effects of adding lead to gasoline are: Lead clogs a catalytic converter and renders it inoperable within minutes. The Earth became covered in a thin layer of lead, and lead is toxic to many living things (including humans). When lead was banned, gasoline got more expensive because refineries could not boost the octane ratings of cheaper grades any more. Airplanes are still allowed to use leaded gasoline, and octane ratings of 115 are commonly used in super-high-performance piston airplane engines (jet engines burn kerosene, by the way).
  19. Wonder what is the optimum engine oil level ? Definitely not LOW right ? So, is it at the MIDDLE or FULL mark ?
  20. Hi all, i was wondering what type of modifications is legal in singapore?...can add turbo engine or not?...what intercooler is allowed?...tinted windows to what degree?...can add what type of body kits?...carbon fibre dashboard allowed?....what type of induction kit is allowed?....what type of exhaust is allowed?...blah..blah...blah...i know it is abit long but i thought if singapore is not so strict in its modification laws...i can get a second hand car and modify it to my liking rather than buying a car that looks the same as what others have...so please help me to answer my queries ...nice people...maybe you people can even help me modify my car!!! Thanks...
  21. Is it advisible to have the enghine oil level above the higher higher of your dipstick. Read somewhere that it's not good for the engine. should stay within the two markers on the dipstick
  22. Need some 1st hand comments of the noise level of Kumho 712 over typical stock tyres ...
  23. What could actually make oil level in your engine drop over time? Few things I can think of: 1) Oil leaking into combustion chamber via bad piston rings 2) Oil vaporising at increasing rate after breaking down 3) Oil thinning??? More ideas?
