Lexus will return to Salon Prive later in September this year to showcase its industry-leading range of full hybrid models. It will have a special focus on the F Sport versions of its cars, which combine sportier styling and performance with the peerless luxury, craftsmanship and advanced technologies that are associated to the Lexus brand. Among the line up will be the IS 300h F Sport, representing Lexus's all new sports saloon. Adopting Lexus Hybrid Drive technology for the first time, the new IS presents the latest interpretation of Lexus's L-finesse design philosophy. The effect is even more pronounced in the F Sport, with a stronger rendering of the spindle grille design and styling cues inside and out that take reference from the Lexus LFA supercar. As it delivers increased driving pleasure, the IS 300h achieves CO2 emissions from 99g/km and an official combined cycle fuel economy of 27.9km/L at the same time . It will be joined by the new GS 450h F Sport, representing the fourth generation of Lexus's luxury sports saloon. The GS's hybrid system combines a 288bhp V6 petrol engine with a compact but powerful electric motor. The GS 450h F Sport can accelerate from rest to 100km/h in less than six seconds and progress to a 249km/h top speed despite emitting a modest 141g/km of CO2. The Lexus RX - the original luxury SUV - has been consistently refined and developed over the years to the current RX 450h. It will be present at Salon Prive in F Sport trim too, demonstrating how Lexus has successfully interpreted its sporting theme across its full model range. Common with all current Lexus hybrids, the RX allows the driver to select different drive modes to prioritise fuel and emissions efficiency or performance, according to personal preference or driving conditions, including an EV mode for all-electric running with zero tailpipe emissions and fuel consumption. The LS 600h Premier is the flagship of the Lexus range, a limousine rich in advanced technologies and luxury features. The innovations include the world-first Lexus Climate Concierge, which maintains an ideal cabin environment by monitoring the individual facial temperature of each occupant to determine appropriate co-ordination of the ventilation, heating, heated seats and heated steering wheel. With handcrafted finishes, a supremely smooth V8 hybrid powertrain and a cabin designed for optimum comfort, the LS 600h fulfills Lexus' mission to deliver a world-class limousine.

Lexus unveils its integrated safety vehicle at CES 2013

Late last year, rumours of Lexus testing an autonomous car circulated on the internet and many thought that the Japanese luxury automaker will come up with a self-driving car just like what Google did. But, that is not actually true. Lexus actually unveiled an integrated safety research vehicle at the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The unveiling is Toyota's ongoing development on new safety technologies. According to Toyota North America's corporate manager of business strategy, Jim Pisz, "The company will never have a truly autonomous car." He also mentioned that much of the technology in the research car is already in the 2013 Lexus LS. Jim Pisz further explained on one of the features in the integrated safety research vehicle which is the active cruise control which can slow a car down to a stop and then accelerate back to the speed set on the cruise control. The company also pointed out that a similar feature in a rival German automaker's car isn't as 'smart' when compared to their unit. Lexus affirms that the company would not fully devote its resources in a self driving vehicle. A driver-less car is just a part of the research. What they are focusing on is a vehicle fitted with advanced automated technologies and paired with an intelligent, always attentive driver whose skills would contribute to safer driving. The research vehicle (which is a Lexus LS) shown at the show is fitted with a 360 degree LIDAR (light detection and ranging) on top of the car's roof. It detects objects up to 70 metres away and it reads stop lights and also detects pedestrians. The research car's computers manage three core functions; recognition of images through its cameras and sensors, judgment based in real time, and operations that send the decision to the car. Each of these core functions help to make the driver safer and more skilled during driving. -
Toyota Motorsports GmbH unleashes the TMG Sports 650

In the month of November 2012, Toyota Motorsports GmbH (TMG) announced that they will be showcasing one of their project works at the 2012 Essen Motor Show. Nothing much was said about the car except that it will be based on a Lexus LS and will deliver over 600bhp. Several teaser images consisting of several carbon fibre parts and a BBS wheel fitted on the car soon followed afterwards. And now, Toyota Motorsports GmbH has finally revealed the completed car and it is officially known as the TMG Sports 650. The TMG Sports 650 is fitted with many carbon fibre parts which include a rear spoiler lip, side skirts and a roof panel. The wheel arc has been flared to allow 20 inch BBS wheels to fit on all four corners. These BBS wheels are wrapped in a low profile Michelin tyre. At the rear, four chromed exhaust tips are positioned in a peculiar but tasteful manner. One thing that is definitely missing from the car is the trademark spindle grille that is found on all new Lexus models. Probably, this is TMG -

Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) has been responsible for many of Toyota's motorsport campaigns which includes Formula 1, World Rally Championships and the 24 Hours Le Mans competition. And ever since Toyota pulled out of Formula 1 in 2009, the company has been busy with several projects; mainly with the development of the TS030 Hybrid Le Mans race cars that participated in the 24 Hours Le Mans recently. The company was responsible for providing technical support for rally driver, Ove Andersson, who was driving a Celica at that time. They also developed the first Japanese car to win the WRC. In 1993, TTE changed their name to what it is today and they got involved in other racing competitions as well such as the Le Mans and Formula 1. [extract] J.D Power and Associates has released the result of the study on the overall dependability of three-year vehicles sold in the US. Some 31,000 car owners of 2009 model-year vehicles were polled regarding the problems they encountered with their ride over the last 12 months. From the 32 brands included in the survey, 25 improved their scores with Lexus topping the chart with 86 problems per 100 vehicles (89 PP100).
