  2. http://news.insing.com/tabloid/slammed-giv...oor/id-4c5a3f00 A woman, who has been cooking food for the needy, has been criticised online, with one netizen even calling for her arrest. Rachel Lim Yan Xuan, a 34 year-old dance instructor, has been preparing meals and distributing them for free to people begging or selling tissues on the streets of Geylang and outside a temple at Waterloo Street. According to Lianhe Wanbao, she received flak from netizens after posting photographs of her good deeds on her Facebook account and was forced to stop after her third food distribution two weeks ago. She said:

  4. My wife reced this email last week supposedly from his company supplier. She thought it is real but luckily she replied saying that she doesnt have the money. Only today when the supplier came and when asked, he told my wife that he did not emailed her and that was a SCAM. He believed that his email was being HACKED. "I'm writing this with tears in my eyes. I came down here Spain, Madrid for a short vacation to visit a resort and got mugged at gun point last nite at the hotel where I lodged. All cash, credit card, cell were stolen off me. I've been to the Spain Embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues at all. My return flight leaves tomorrow and I have problems settling the hotel bills. The hotel manager wont let us leave until we settle the hotel bills which is 1500 Euro or anything that you can afford now. I am totally freaked out. Please reply back and let me know if you are able to help out so that I can give necessary details. You will need to get to me via Western Union money transfer. I promise to pay you back as soon as I get home. Koh XXX XXX (Real Name)
  5. Give me 2 yellow card? kns u all.
  6. Or another scheme or something. Some sort where the owner of a car is limited to 1 day user per week (or similar, maybe 52 days a year). Extremely restricted usage at much lower COE prices. Of course, there's no way to regulate it right now. Only chance is probably GPS tracking.... I really don't mind, at this point......I don't need to use a car a lot of times......just sometimes, when I go back to JB I guess Cat A car will be something like 63K next bidding. Sigh......
  7. I was coming back from KL yesterday afternoon and going fast as i figured it was Monday and during the morning drive up to KL the whole drive was free of manned speed trap, maybe usually weekends they catch enough sgp drivers, so can take a break on Monday? But no matter what, personally I always keep to speed limit on one stretch which it notorious for speed trap. So I did only 110+ on this stretch yesterday also. Lo and behold, suddenly there was this mega road block with only one lane passable, a few white TP big bikes plus a few polis evos parked neatly next to the "pit lane" for unlucky cars, one full section of TPs waving selected passing cars to park one side. Ok so far, coz I didn't speed for at least 10km before reaching the road block, so I slowly move in the queue for the "selection". No luck for me when I reached the sergeant who did the selection...... He pointed at my car, and then pointed to the pit lane. I sat inside, off engine, continued my cig and one smiling TP in a cap came, "Good morning, sir. Can i see your driving license?" He checked my license, but I regretted letting him see my wallet when I took the license because inside it there was a stack of ringgits, BIG regret! This prosperous looking sergeant kept smiling at me, not sure if the wallet can really made him so happy! Then as usual, he walked to the front, looked at my number plate. At this time I noticed all other cars which kena stopped in the pit lane were MY cars!? Usually there are more sgp cars than MY cars. Mr Smiling walked to me, asked with another smile "Evo 7, or 8?"..... In my mind I was like -- why you bother? Just go straight to your usual line, can or not? Of course we always return our smile to TP's smile. So I smiled back "old car lah, evo4" He smiled, "ok, we just checking. Your car no speeding on our radar"..... I was "???" but straight away moved off. Wah lau eh, no speeding, then stopped people for what? the single file road block caused a 2km jam! And just checking? Big bank robbery just took place so need a road block? Anyway, i figured this road block probably used up 90% of their highway patrol team, which means the rest of the NSHW to tuas exit everyone can chiong!!!... And most of us did just that :D Do you guys know how often they stop drivers for nothing, not even the 50 ringgits?
  8. Can't help but share wat I saw this morning. Was parking my car and noticed a bike beside a heavily kitted OPC lancer ex. Guess wat? The owner was transferring the petrol from bike to car! Wah lan..wanna save until tat extend might as well buy a smaller car (or better, dun buy at all!) or perhaps save the $$$ dun mod lah..really cheapskate IMO.. Anyway, juz for laughs on Monday morning..not targeting at OPC or any race in particular..cheers!
  9. Kallang Roars?? (for those who still remember it) Or noises made by female tennis players? Or the ear-shattering/piercing F1 engine/exhaust sounds? F16 fly pass noice? (doing air-show, considered as a sports) Pom-Pom girls dacing music/drum beats? For me, the engine-braking, exhaust noise of "over-run", hard-accelerations of F1, or even the noises made by this weekend's Super GT's GTRs, Ferraris, Z4, etc are really "addictive" -----> first from far i could hear the high speed engine sounds approaching as i stood about 400m before the 180deg turn at the end of the long striaght.... the sounds started like thunders from a distance, then they got louder, and louder..... and when the cars zoomed pass me, it sounded like a the sound made by jet fighted shooting pass, then they started to down shift and engine brake, this was when the "farting" (or some called it backfire) sounds came, a bit like fire crackers but 1000 times louder!! and my heart could feel the "vibrations" in the air caused by the loud "farts".... then some cars locked the tyres and smoke came out.... some cars gave up metalic sounds (maybe from the brakes which screeched). All so loud and 'brutal" as if the engine is going to explode or break apart!!...... but the merc mclarens and porsches sounded very tame, almost ghost like "silence"... the ford GTs (in the support race) were thundering LOUD when they accelerated out of the corners!! .... Ferraris, Lambo, GTR, Toyota, etc all had their own unique loud accelerate-FARTS!!! ..... the grand stand actually shook bros who heard the F1 sounds on track will know about it..... the engine brake sounds are the one i like most!!! they do sound like someone is trying to demolish the stadium/grandstand, with LOUD bangs aka FARTS!!

  17. Since its introduction in the mid 70s, no other hatchbacks have managed to knock the Golf from the throne, is it correct to say this? the old escort, then the focus; the Astra (?), more recently the 1-series, not forgetting a few other european hatchbacks like the 305-308, the magene, C4, Bravo, Alfa hatchback, etc, from japan: Civic hatchback, and all the others HBs, all more or less fail.... So far, which model(s) come close to knocking it off? why it's so hard to beat? (I am not a Golf fan)
  18. And it will be good if you can give a short and sweet reason(s). No bashing and flaming, to each his own. Note currently liked driver, not last time like, but now. For me its Schumy because of his often miraculous driving (in the past), character, ruthlessness, intelligence and drive, more so than his 7 championships and records. Of course he brought controversy and his character into question. But in this kind of sports, I can close two eyes on that now that he had changed a lot.

  21. Bus lanes are useful only if they are fully utilised and move more passengers on the buses to their destinations faster in a jam. However, i notice there are bus lanes which remain empty during peak hours when the adjacent lanes are jammed with cars queueing for more than 1km daily!! Example: during evening peak hour along Teloh Blangah Rd under the viaduct towards VivoCity from Alexandra Rd junction all the way to VivoCity. Most of the time the buslane is empty except for a few buses. The >1km car queue affect many drivers + their passengers while the few buses which use the empty bus lane only benefit bus passengers who are out-numbered by the drivers / car-passengers. Our road system should be utilised to benefit the larger group, in this case (ie for this stretch of the road mentioned), the drivers / car-passengers. (Not counting the passengers in the vans / lorries who are also trapped in the jam.) Have you noticed other such situation else where?

  24. Jacuzzi horror The Star | Tue, Feb 14 2012 A Jacuzzi's suction was so strong that it almost killed a 158-cm boy. During the school holidays, my family and I went to a resort in Kuantan. Since it was the monsoon season, my sons, aged 11 and eight, were content with just swimming in the pool. On our final day at the hotel, my sons wanted to go into the Jacuzzi, and since there were many smaller children playing in it, I followed them in. Suddenly, my younger boy called out that his brother was at the bottom of the Jacuzzi and was not getting up. Quickly, I tried to pull him up, but to no avail. I screamed for help, and many people jumped in to help. The suction was so strong that it took my husband and four other men to pull my son out. He was resuscitated and rushed to a hospital, suffering lacerations on his chest and stomach. In the intensive care unit, my son cried, saying that he could have died. We comforted him, saying he was a hero and that he had saved many children's lives. If it were not for him, a smaller child would have got stuck in the suction pump and could have drowned. My son returned home to Kuala Lumpur three days later. I thank God and all the kind people who helped us on that frightful day. With God's grace, though bearing the scars of that frightful day, he has returned to swimming, his one true love. So all of you out there who feel like taking a dip in the Jacuzzi with your children, please bear in mind that it almost killed a 158-cm boy who weighed more than 50kg.
