  1. Morning latest from ESPN Soccernet read : England 2-3 Croatia: Three Lions crash out "England's Euro 2008 dreams - and quite possibly Steve McClaren's job - were washed away in the Wembley rain despite a thrilling David Beckham-inspired comeback. For some inexplicable reason, Wright-Phillips, finding himself in an unaccustomed right-back slot, tried to play Ivica Olic offside. The ill-advised move merely allowed the striker to stroll through, round Carson and tap into an empty net. A capacity Wembley crowd was shell-shocked, barely able to grasp the nightmare unfolding in front of them. At no point did Steven Gerrard or Frank Lampard get hold of the game, at no point did Crouch look a threat and at no point did England's defence look capable of resisting Croatia for the remainder of the game. As he delivered potentially his last half-time team-talk, the boos of his own fans once again ringing in his ears, McClaren's belief could have been reinforced only by the knowledge that twice in his Middlesbrough days. It seemed McClaren's version of the Great Escape would reach a memorable and totally satisfactory conclusion. Instead, just as Steve McQueen was recaptured and jailed, so England were snared again as substitute Petric belted home from 20 yards to knock them out." Further news informed that McClown vow to stay on as England manager. What a crab McClown, step down now........... Whilst I am typing this threads, England FA will be having a meeting in the morning to decided on this clown fate. FA meet in the morning to decide McClaren's fate. "The Football Association have called an emergency board meeting at 8.30am tomorrow morning at which England coach Steve McClaren seems certain to get the sack. McClaren refused to resign in the immediate aftermath of tonight's 3-2 defeat to Croatia at Wembley, which ended England's hopes of reaching next summer's European Championships. But, while McClaren also declined to discuss his future, the 12-man FA executive will sit in judgement in the morning - and their verdict is not likely to be positive." Boot that clown out or you will not even smell World Cup 2010...... btw Russia win by 1-0 against Andorra.

  4. Chinese automaker Chery to supply engines to Italy's Fiat BEIJING - FIAT Group has announced it will buy engines from China's Chery Automobile Co, expanding the ambitious Chinese automaker's foreign ties just a month after it signed a deal with Chrysler to export cars to the United States. The agreement comes as global automakers look to China as a low-cost production base for export and the country's own small but fast-growing competitors try to expand sales abroad. Chery, China's biggest domestic automaker, will supply 100,000 1.6 and 1.8-litre engines a year for use in cars manufactured by Fiat in China and abroad, the two companies said in a joint statement. 'The agreement will give Chery increased competitiveness on the international market,' Yin Tongyao, president of 10-year-old Chery, said in the statement. Chery and Fiat Group, a subsidiary of Italy's Fiat SpA, are looking at 'further cooperation,' Fiat Group CEO Sergio Marchionne said. Chery, based in the eastern city of Wuhu, signed a deal with Chrysler LLC in July on a low-cost production venture to export cars to the United States. Chrysler CEO Tom LaSorda said the two companies would jointly develop future models. China overtook Japan last year to become the world's No. 2 vehicle market after the United States. Its automakers exported 325,000 vehicles last year, about 80 per cent of them low-priced trucks and buses for other developing markets in Asia, Africa and Latin America, according to the government. Chinese producers are eager to expand to US and European markets, but industry analysts say they lack the technology to meet environmental and safety standards on their own. More are expected to make deals like Chery's in hopes that foreign partners will improve their skills. 'The agreement means that Fiat, who had been testing Chery's engines during the past year, have recognized the technologies and quality of the engines developed by Chery,' said Chery's Deputy General Manager Zhou Biren. Last year, Chery reported sales of about 310,000 cars, with 40,000 of those exported. Its target this year is 390,000 cars, with 70,000 sold abroad. The company assembles vehicles with partners in Iran, Malaysia, Russia, Ukraine, Brazil and Egypt. It announced plans in March to open its first Latin American factory in Uruguay with an Argentine partner. -- AP

  6. I'm looking into buying a new car and I've got 2 contrasting quotes from 2 different PIs. Using rounded figures for simplicity.. Quote 1 OMV: $32000 Selling price: $107000 Quote 2 OMV: $27000 Selling price: $100000 I understand that good cars in general will have higher OMV but how much does it really matter? How far should one go to get a car with high OMV? Correct me if I'm wrong but if you sell your car within 5 years, you'll only get the PARF rebate (75% of ARF = 82.5% of OMV), a portion of your COE price paid plus your car's selling price, right? So in the above example when I have to pay 7k more for a better PARF rebate of around 4k, is it worth it? I'm new to all this so will appreciate even if u've got half a cent to contribute. :) Thanks!
  7. Today Cycle and Carriage ran an ad in the Classifieds section for the Lancer Sports at around $51-52k with a guaranteed 31st May delivery. It smells like the new Lancer is just around the corner......
  8. Has anyone install Capsule along brake line??? I realize that after sometimes when you took out the capsule, you can see black thick sticky oil dripping out of the capsule... so my question is if i did not install the capsule to filter the oil, will the oil accumulate along the years and cause malfunction on the brake line?
  9. This thought just came across my mind. The other time I park my car at the loading unloading bay (LUB) I got a fine of $100, I wrote in and it was waived. Now, I knew that parking at double yellow line carries a fine of $70 and parking at LUB fine is $100. Below my flat, there are 2 lots of LUB while the rest of the area are double yellow line. So my question is, if a person takes a effort to park in LUB and is fine $100 but if he decides to anyhow park along the road (off course not blocking others) and he is only fine $70, then it is not fair to fine that guy $100 for parking in the LUB. What is your comments?
  10. Need to go for car inspection soon. There is a ~20cm fine crack line on my car's front windscreen. Will this pass the inspection?

  22. Hi Gurus! Does anyone know how to locate the fuel line? I'm driving a Citroen C3 1.6 16v which has essentially a similar engine as a Peugeot 206. Someone gave me some "Fuel Saving" magnets and I want to try it out. Don't want to be a goondu and attach it to an air/oil line! BTW, I've attached a picture of the left side of the engine. [inline Fuel_Line_C3.jpg] Full picture of the engine can be seen here: http://memimage.cardomain.net/...99/634266_7_full.jpg Cheers, David

  24. Saab to add 9-2 Model to its Product Line in 2004 Start of sales in U.S. and Canada in July 2004 The new 2005 Saab 9-2X is the next significant step in the biggest product development program in Saab's history. Saab the fastest growing European premium car brand in the American market recently launched the 9-3 Sport Sedan and 9-3 Convertible model ranges. Now the new 9-2X continues this product offensive. With standard full-time all-wheel-drive, powerful engines, and distinctive European design, the Saab 9-2X is a unique and early offering in a car segment just emerging in the American market: the premium sports compact segment. The first Saab 9-2X models will go on sale in the U.S. and Canada July 1, 2004 ahead of many competitors who are also bringing products to this market. The Saab 9-2X is the ideal addition to our line-up, says Peter Augustsson, Saab's President and CEO. Like the recently-launched Saab 9-3 models, it is extremely dynamic and is a car that you want to drive. Additionally, its price point will attract some new, young, enthusiastic customers to Saab. For many customers, the Saab 9-2X will be their first premium brand vehicle as prices start below $25,000. In addition, customer surveys show that up to 40 percent of all Americans are looking for all-wheel-drive in their next vehicle a feature standard in all Saab 9-2X models, a distinct advantage as Saab enters this new segment. The Saab 9-2X will help us continue our extremely strong momentum, said Debra Kelly-Ennis, President of Saab Cars USA. We are definitely on a roll. The 9-3 Sport Sedan is outselling its predecessor two to one, we are in the midst of launching our all-new 9-3 Convertible, and this exciting new car will arrive in the early summer. The Design: Progressive with a strong, dynamic character As the new 9-2X range is tremendously fun to drive and since we are targeting a young and enthusiastic customer, we decided to express the strong and dynamic character of the 9-2X in its design and even add a bit more of an aggressive touch compared to the rest of our line-up, comments Saab's Executive Director of Design, Michael Mauer. The new Saab 9-2X takes a number of styling cues from recently-presented Saab concept and production vehicles and presents Saab's view on what a fun-to-drive, versatile 5-door vehicle should look like. The Saab 9-2X needs to look as aggressive as its driving capabilities, says Mauer. Additionally, even though it is a functional 5-door vehicle, it shouldn't look like a traditional wagon. Therefore, we spent a great deal of time making sure it had a strong face and sleek Scandinavian lines. The vehicle retains Saab's now familiar curvaceous front that harmoniously integrates the typical three-hole-grille and the low horizontally emphasized headlamps that wrap around into the sides of the car. Below the bumper area, a pronounced air intake signals the dynamic potential of the new Sports compact. On the top-of-the-line 9-2X Aero model, the clean line of the front hood is accentuated by a nicely integrated air intake that feeds air to the intercooler of the turbo engine. As with the 2004 Saab 9-5 Aero SportWagon, the horizontal lines in the design of the 9-2X's rear end contribute to the car's wide and powerful stance. Additionally, the rear apron's dark accent provides a sporty flair. Performance: Sporty and focused on the driver The Saab 9-2X's advanced full-time all-wheel-drive and boxer four cylinder engines are firsts in Saab's history. Further technical highlights include four-wheel independent suspension and Four-wheel disc brakes which, when partnered with a latest generation 4-channel/4-sensor anti-lock brake system (ABS), provide enhanced driver control. Traction and handling performance of the 9-2X Aero is further improved by a viscous limited-slip differential at the rear. The turbocharged and intercooled two-liter high performance DOHC 9-2X Aero engine produces 227 hp @ 6,000 rpm and 217 lb.-ft. (294 Nm) of torque @ 4,000 rpm. The power plant of the Saab 9-2X 2.5 is naturally aspirated and delivers 165 hp @ 5,600 rpm as well as a maximum torque of 166 lb.-ft. (225Nm) @ 4,000 rpm. Both cars provide a standard 5-speed manual transmission; a 4-speed automatic transmission is available as an option. The Saab 9-2X is the best example yet of Saab's brand promise of delivering sporty, driver focused performance, says Kjell-
