  1. i don't see the point of living i see war, fighting, disease and natural disasters everywhere... it seems like everyone is living just to feel pain even for those who are living in a happy environment... how long will this happiness last... the more you have fun and love your life the more pain you feel at the end everyone has this incurable disease called aging when i go past all these old folks in singapore i wonder what they are feeling how abt those old folks in the aged home... they must be in so much pain even though some don't show it old ppl picking up cans at the street, rich old ppl being brought around by maids cos they are too frail to walk anymore.... i sense the feeling of pain everywhere i go yes i do see happy ppl.... like those watching world cup and jumping around... ok this is not a good example cos i also don't understand how seeing ppl kicking a ball around can make these ppl so happy... anyway happy ppl like happy old folks playing with their grand kids and stuff... is this happiness gonna last... or will it eventually collapse as it always does the really unlucky ones i guess are those who have really been loved by someone special and this special person passes away making life completely meaningless for the person. i am currently wondering what is so great about living... all it gives you is pain......... sooner or later.... anyway i hope the bros here can make me understand why living is not as bad as i think it is.... thank you in advance
  2. Yesterday evening after my work, i driving home from my workplace which is at ard 9pm plus at woodland. As my car is approaching a High slope whereby my car is picking up speed, A guy who own a Green color Sportbike(more than 600cc) who came from behind high beam me a few time expecting my car to speed up to 100km/h on a slope. At that point of time, as a biker (I'm also owning a bike and car), he can just go to the next lane and overtake me or just follow behind. The biker after high beam me a few time ride to my left shoulder lane, look at me (I just ignore him) and then speed off. As i'm in good mood, i dun wanna make him pay for a new rear bumper or give him a chance to stay in Changi chalet for few weeks or worst come to worst letting him submit his IC to government. I know riding a big sportbike is fun and riding on 1st 2 gear is no fun for a big bike. However, such inmature low brainer will one day be taught a lesson on how to be a discipline rider by other motorist whom is not in good mood . Really endangered his own life and also spoilt my driving mood.
  3. Today I had the privilege of meeting Mr Valentino Balboni, the man that has driven every single Lamborghini model produced since 1968, including two cars that held the record for the World's Fastest Production Car. He has driven the car that opened the Monaco Grand Prix (with Prince Ranier and Princees Grace behind the wheel), a car that he personally fitted the engine to. He has also driven a V12 engined SUV, and has his own Lamborghini named after him. It is a humbling experience to meet such a man that is truely a part of motoring history, and a very very rare opportunity. (sorry, tomorrow is family day, I won't be back to post again till monday)

76 yo mum donated one of her kidney to save her child. When the mother passes away due to old age, the child (actually already 46 yo now) can safely say a part of her mum still lives in her. Just curious: I am sure our organs have expiry date. So how long will that transplanted kidney last in the 46 yo woman since it should be soon for COE replacement liao.
  6. This is an educational pictures to show it to our children as well ....
  7. how many of you are leaving in condos? care to comment whether its worth paying so much $$ to live in such properties? heard the monthly conservancy charges are very high also.
  8. Was having a healthy debate with friends, taking away the exchange rate and looking at it on a $1 SGD = $1MYR basis, which is lower, and which would you choose in overall including quality of living. I think this will be interesting, especially after a recent business trip, i realised living costs there can be quite as well.

  10. Civil servants to get half-month mid-year bonus, plus $100 to $300 Lower division officers will receive more SOME 60,000 civil servants will get a mid-year bonus of half-month and between $100 and $300 in July. Officers in the lower divisions - Division III and IV - will receive $250 and $300 respectively. Division I and II officers will receive $100. This is in line with the National Wages Council's (NWC) call to give more to low-wage workers to help them cope with rising cost of living. A statement from the Public Service Division on Wednesday said the July payout comes against a backdrop of Singapore's continuing economic growth, which is expected at between 4 to 6 per cent this year. The economy grew by 6.7 per cent in the first quarter, compared to 5.4 per cent in the last quarter of 2007. 'The mid-year payment with higher amounts of $250 to $300 for officers in the lower divisions has taken into consideration the National Wages Council's call to give a one-off special payment to help rank-and-file workers, particularly low wage workers, better cope with the impact of inflation this year,' said the statement. Last year, civil servants received a half-month bonus in July, and a one-off payment of $220. PSD said the Government will decide on the year-end bonus for civil servants when Singapore's economic performance in the second half of the year is clearer. The mid-year payout announcement was applauded by NTUC on Wednesday. In a statement, it said the higher quantum for lower division civil servants would encourage them to 'perform even better as it forms a larger percentage of their wages.' Said NTUC: 'We are glad the Government has also followed the National Wages Council's recommendations to use variable payments to reward workers and to grant a one-off special payment to help rank-and-file workers, particularly lower wage workers, cope with the impact of inflation.' 'This year, the higher dollar quantum for the lower wage civil servants will mean a lot more to them as it also serves to help them cope better with rising cost of living and inflationary pressures.' http://www.straitstimes.com/Latest%2BNews/...ory_241907.html
  11. Upcoming condo equipped with garage in the sky PARKING the car is set to reach a whole new level - with a high-rise condominium where every apartment comes with its own private garage in the sky. The Hamilton, coming up at 37 Scotts Road on the former site of Hotel Asia, will make this fantasy come true. Residents of the 30-storey tower will be able to drive their vehicle into a special glass elevator that will lift the vehicle from the ground floor to their 'porch' on the same level as their living rooms. The 56-unit development has not been launched yet. But when built, it will become the first residential high-rise in Singapore, and only the third in the world after developments in New York and Dubai, to have this vroom-with-a-view parking feature. Ms Leny Suparman, director of developer Hayden Properties, said the feature offers 'a unique way of living in a condominium yet with the advantages of a landed property'. Motorists here have already become familiar with high-tech 'stack' parking, though it is not quite the seamless elevator ride The Hamilton promises. At the Chinatown nightlife hub Club Street, the first fully mechanised public carpark was launched last month. And MacDonald House in Orchard Road has had an elevator take vehicles to its carpark on the second and third levels after its refurbishment in June 2005. Owning a unit at The Hamilton, complete with its own private parking bay, will not come cheap. Hayden Properties is unable to give any price indication for its units - averaging 3,000 sq ft in size. But according to the Urban Redevelopment Authority's website, apartments in the vicinity have been going for around $4,000 per sq ft. At The Hamilton, that could work out to about $12 million a unit. In land-scarce Singapore, mechanised parking systems may seem the way to go, taking up less space than conventional parking lots. Read the full report in Monday's edition of The Straits Times.
  12. http://www.straitstimes.com/Latest%2BNews/...ory_216836.html Many families live beyond their means, have wrong priorities Community welfare organisations can help promote sound values: PM By Zakir Hussain SINGAPOREANS who spend beyond their means and have to go to their MPs for help were placed under the spotlight by none other than Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Friday. He noted that as MPs, 'we often see families who have over-committed themselves financially' - for instance those who have been 'extravagant in doing up their homes using renovation loans', or 'bought expensive furniture or large screen TV sets on hire purchase'. 'The ones with the most serious problems have bought homes which are larger than they can afford, and taken mortgages which they are then unable to pay,' he said. Mr Lee was speaking at the 60th anniversary dinner of the Malay Youth Literary Association (popularly known by its Malay acronym 4PM), a community welfare organisation that helps young Malays. While families who live beyond their means come from all races, 'quite a few are Malay families', he noted. 'It is a sensitive matter to raise, but all MPs and social workers know that it is a real issue that needs to be tackled,' he added. Contacted by The Straits Times, Tampines GRC MP Masagos Zulkifli said he sees at least one such case a week - for example, a family living in a flat it cannot afford, or one that needs help preventing its TVs or stereo sets from being repossessed. Some come with the latest mobile phones, a clear sign they have wrong priorities, he said.

    Living in HDB

    1. Contemplating to liquidate all properties, keep the money and move into HDB. To decide later what big plan to do later. One thing I dislike about HDB is lift and corridor. Most lifts that I've visited are often dirty and residents like to put flower pots and personal belongings along the corridors. Also can't imagine living in a unit along corridor unit with people passing by your windows every now and then. 2. Also considering finding flats that are closer to CBD so that I can siam most of the much hated ERP gantries and walk to office. Any lobangs or tips for pleasant living in HDB? Thank you very much. Regards,
