  1. Recent floods are not the only sign I guess.
  2. I'm at clinic now, here for 2 consecutive days. Yesterday I called to get queue number at 10am only got to see doc at about 1230. Waited another half hr for medicine. Had 2 days Mc as I've throat inflammation and fever. Saw blood in my phlegm twice so decided to see doc again today. Called clinic to take queue number at 8am. I'm still waiting for my turn, 2 or 3 more to go. I think by the time I get my medicine, it'll be 1pm, earliest. I usually come to this medical group clinic as there is one female doc who is v good, patient and thorough in her diagnosis. Many patients will ask to see her. So it's normal to wait a long time if queueing to see her. I've tried many docs in my area and I find that many of them really cannot make it, like prescribe wrong medicine, prescribe lots of unnecessary medicine, does not do diagnosis etc. One ultimate example was a relatively young doc, very ah beng type, he would sit there shaking his leg (literally), and ask you "what you want". You say "I feel giddy..." "ok give you medicine for giddiness, what else?" "Headache...""ok give you painkiller, what else?" "Nothing." "Ok that's all" doesn't take temperature if you don't complain of fever. I suspect he was trained to be a medicine dispenser, not doctor. I wonder if this is the norm? I miss the doctor-owned clinics, coz they usually more responsible as they are running their own biz, unlike those serving in medical group clinics, many of them treat it like a job. Sadly, the young estate I'm staying in doesn't have many docs in private practice. Seen a very young female doc once, also cannot make it, only out to earn money.
  3. Only in China...everything must be long. They got long wheel base 5 series, E-class, A4, porsche panamera, etc. Maybe next will be LWB Farrari/Lambo! Now Roll Royce also must bow down to the china market and make a long wheel base Rolls. For the girl friends to kneel down more comfortably is it? http://paultan.org/2011/04/20/rolls-royce-...ket/#more-57529 Chinese bosses love legroom and want lots of it, which is why we see

  5. Singaporeans can look forward to five long weekends in 2012, after the Ministry of Manpower announced the dates for the 11 gazetted public holidays for next year. This includes a four-day weekend, with Chinese New Year falling on January 23 and 24, which are a Monday and a Tuesday. The other long weekends will be due to New Year's Day (January 1, Sunday), Good Friday (April 6, Friday), Hari Raya Puasa (August 19, Sunday), and Hari Raya Haji (October 26, Friday). For the holidays that fall on a Sunday, the following Monday will be a public holiday. Plan early guys! =o)

  9. Chanced upon this google ad .. http://www.money3.com.sg/investor.php.. noticed that its parent company is listed in ASX..and is making healthy profits.. not sure if it is a viable business to grant small loans to non credit worthy ppl .... i cant think of any legal recourse actions that can be initiated on the debtors if they default for a loan of just $250-$2000..
  10. Little do I expect that one day, I'll be posting such a thread in MCF myself. While I'm trying extremely hard not to post this, I guess the rest of the bro/sis should learn from my experience and take it as a lesson when you go shop for your next used car. In the week of 6th Dec 2010, I went to look at a particular car at the above dealer. I instantly like the ride, price wise was reasonable. After i tested it, i almost sign on the paper immediately. However, i have certain doubts which i needed to clear first. There is more but i decide to list one of the 5 main ones. 1. a few scratches i want him to fix before handing over and the car should be well polished. 2. I want full tank of petrol when i collect the car 3. to fix the 5 dents before handing over. 4. is the car serviced regularly? 5. there is a crack on the right headlight, will there be problem of water going into it? The reply from the SE who happened to be the owner as well responded. 1. the car is in original paint work condition. don't spray else the car no value. 2. yes, it will be done when hand over 3. yes, it will be done when hand over 4. yes, i go to G... eng.... for regular servicing and my last servicing was 2500km ago (as shown in trip B meter). 5. DONT worry, there wouldn't be any problem with the headlights. On 13rd Dec, i became the proud owner of this car. And as i have a pre-planned oversea trip, i left the car undriven from 17-25 Dec 2010. Remember item 1 of the above? Car being in original paint work condition? As i was detailing the car on 26 Dec, I realised that the right 2 doors was being sprayed before! It's my fault for not being more careful when i was inspecting the car before buying... The bonus point? there is no major accident. Perhaps the owner brushes the wall before. With regards to the polishing job before handing over the car? I don't even want to go into details for this. I drove the car from 26-29 Dec. Just as I stopped my car in the parking lot on 29 Dec 2010, i noticed that i didn't park properly. When I tried to restart the car, it just stalled and battery was flat! Called the SE, and he was kind enough to provide me the contact of the shop where he purchased the battery (9 months ago). I told him, i only driven the car for 8 days! he should be responsible. Anyway, long story short on the smsing here and there, on who's responsibility. In the end, the boss of Hup Long instructed that they will foot for it. Kudos to the after sales service! Item 2. Nope, there was no full tank given. In the end, i had to make the SE honour his words.. he gave $50, which is barely enough. Item 3. Dents wasn't fixed when i collected the ride. Although the SE have given me $50, i had to make my own arrangement to fix the dents!!!! Item 4. The SE/owner said that he service his car regularly? However, Saaber (MCFer) suggested that i should change the oil and not to trust the SE/owner for his words. On 30 Jan 2011, i sent my car for servicing and the trip B meter now reads 4950km. So, effectively, I only drove the car for about 2500km after collecting it on 13th Dec 2010. Guess what is the colour of the engine oil, dark black in colour!! So much for honesty from the SE. I didn't take the photo of the oil but I managed to take a photo of the air filter. At i thought the SE used Carbon air filter, , but I realised i was wrong. Item 5. This is the deal breaker and i feel that there is a need to share my experience with the rest of the MCFer. As we all know, it has been raining since yesterday. I'm fortunate that I parked in a MSCP. It was raining while i was on my way to work this morning.. When I reached my office, i realised that water have slipped into the headlights!!! It is less than 2months and with a total travelled distance of 2600km after i collected the car!!.. I was given the assurance that I will not face this problem!! I called Hexing and was being informed that the headlight will cost me $400 (before GST and parts only)! I smsed the SE, but he didn't response. So, whoever is reading this (from Hup Long). Dont call me unless you can settle this. I shall not going into details about the leaking absorbers (front and rear right) which is going to cost about $1K (parts only) which i found out on 29 Jan 2011. Disclaimer: This thread will be highlighted and serve as a good reminder to all buyers, to be smart when you make your purchase. The above is based on my true personal experience within 2 months of ownership, I have seek legal advice and know my rights before I decide to post all the necessary info.
  11. Drove passed Sengkang Shell station this morning about 7:45am. Saw a long queue of cars going to the Shell. Did I miss out anything? Pump price drop?
  12. or so mr lee has claimed: http://sg.yfittopostblog.com/2011/01/21/mm...-pap-sometime/# In light of the upcoming general elections and increasing concerns about various hot button issues like the growing wage gap in Singapore, one question is on the minds of all Singaporeans
  13. Tyres Check if the tyre treads are still good - there should be a minimum of between 2-3mm thread depth. A thread wear indicator is a raised part of the tread that will appear when the thread is reaching its minimum safe tread depth. On most cars the front tyres will wear out faster than the rear ones. If they have about 5,000km on them, it might be good to have them rotated with the rear tyres. Tyres should be rotated every 5,000 to 10,000km in order for all four tyres to wear evenly. Note: on some high-performance models, the rear tyres will be a different size to the front tyres. In this instance the tyres should never be swapped over. Always check that front and rear tyres are the same size before rotation. Remember to check that the spare tyre is useable - it tends to be forgotten until it needs to be used - by which time it's too late. It should be under slightly more pressure than the other four tyres. The owner's manual should have the recommended pressures for each tyre, including the spare. Always set the tyre pressures when cold to ensure the correct inflation pressures. Engine Long distance driving is actually less taxing on an engine than stop and go city traffic. Even so, if it hasn't been serviced for a while, it would be wise to bring the car in for a check-up. Another thing to look out for might be the condition of the various rubber hoses - if they are soft and swollen, they should be changed before they burst. Other things to look into are levels for coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid and the windscreen washer reservoir. If you are not mechanically familiar with your vehicle, the AA offers a comprehensive pre-trip vehicle inspection for you.

  22. How to safe guard my car in MSCP?
  23. Just curious, from my undestanding in MCF, most car batteries last for 2 yrs. But i have came across many others uses their battery for more than 4 yrs. Just wondering what is the average lifespan of the car battery and if you can share the brand of the battery, that will be beneficial for all of us here.. For me, the battery which last me longest was Amaron, it was the green colour batter with 60amp/hr rating. use it in my elantra for 2yrs + and swap with my bro in law since his battery was bloated and i was scrapping my ride. He manage to use it for another few yrs. Total lifespan of the battery was more than 5 years. Other brand such as yokohama, varta, yuasa, panasonic & etc only last around 1.5yrs to 2 yrs +
