  2. Hi all, Everytime when there is a gathering of old buddies or other soical gatherings, you bounce to run into some individuals that don't like they are mid or late 40s or even 50s. They simply age much much slower than the peer. Got a shock when I met with a guy who is at his late 40s but look like late 20s or early 30s. Make me wondering whether they are vampire . While some people struggling hard to look young with those plastic surgery, they still show some tell tale signs of their age, particularly woman. Some people just have all the luck . Do you look your age? Regards,

  7. It wasn't that many years ago that no one really took the engineering capabilities of Hyundai all that seriously. Thanks to recent introductions like the Genesis coupe and sedan, the Tucson and the Sonata, as well as consistently improving quality, the Korean automaker is rapidly gaining respect. Today at the 2010 New York Auto Show, Hyundai debuted its first production hybrid model for the U.S. market based on the recently launched 2011 Sonata. As we saw in the teaser photo released last Friday, Hyundai has set its hybrid apart from conventional models with an all-new front fascia. However, the changes go well beyond the new grille and headlights. The new wheels combine with extended rocker panels to improve airflow across the flanks. At the back end, the bumper cover has been reshaped with sharp creases at the corners to control the air coming off and minimize drag, and there are set of really interesting taillamps with a sort of neutron molecule-like quality to them. The body alterations drops the hybrid's projected drag coefficient from the standard Sonata's already slippery 0.28 to just 0.25. As you might suspect, the really important stuff, however, is under the skin.

  10. Every point raised has being implemented.....look at the outcome....are citizen happy or the gov is happy? If you are not happy with the increasing property prices, you can go talk to this prof. MAY 28, 2004 Expert concerned about 100% home ownership NUS don says move led to policies that distorted market; he also calls for halt to new flats so prices of homes can rise A VETERAN analyst of public housing yesterday took issue with the Government's housing policy, saying the push for 100 per cent home ownership had distorted the market and led to financial hardship for many families. To correct the situation, Professor Chua Beng Huat, who once worked in the Housing Board, called in part for a stop to the building of new flats so as to allow current excess supply to be soaked up. The move will also create a 'shortage' and thus prompt an increase in the price of existing homes. Prof Chua, now a sociologist at the National University of Singapore (NUS), also described the HDB's promise to continue building flats for sale as 'wrong headed'. This was because building more three-room flats to meet current demand would 'only intensify the financial difficulties of households' trying to sell their larger flats. His remarks came in a speech at a forum organised by the NUS Real Estate Department in honour of the late Dr Amos Koh, a former lecturer. Some in the audience of about 100 property professionals, including officers from HDB, were clearly surprised by his frank comments. The real estate market was in its current state because of distortions caused by Government policies to achieve 100 per cent home ownership, Prof Chua said. This approach was itself driven by what he said was the ruling party's 'need for legitimacy to continue its monopolisation of parliamentary, hence political power; a legitimacy that is based on a quid pro quo of improved material life for all in exchange for popular electoral support'. Prof Chua added later: 'The implication of this achievement, is that every household already has a house and the need to move to another place of residence is entirely preferential rather than necessary.' Any new demand for housing is from newlyweds and new immigrants. This combined with low marriage rates and the shrinking of average family sizes has resulted in a 'generalised depression of real estate prices, particularly in the public housing sector and the low-end private housing sector', he argued. Those hardest hit by this state of affairs in the market are the retrenched, those whose businesses have failed and retirees. The solution was a moratorium on new public housing, 'to create a shortage in order to refloat the prices of existing housing,' he said. This would transfer some of the cost of present home ownership to the younger generation and thereby enable retirees to finance their future, he added. He acknowledged that the move to create such a shortage would be unpopular with the younger generation. 'However, with their ability to pay still ahead of them, their dissatisfaction will dissipate over time and the political cost to the ruling regime may not be very high,' he said. Prof Chua was also critical of the approach taken to maintain the goal of 100 per cent home ownership through various policies. These were actively discouraging flat rentals; encouraging consumption and upgrading to bigger homes through a resale policy; creating new markets for the older and smaller flats; and maintaining real estate prices above a certain level. Arguing that the State should discard its monopoly over the provision of public housing, he said the HDB should, however, remain a competitor in the housing market. This is because by remaining a player, it would put pressure on the private sector to keep improving the conditions of the housing that it provides.
  11. I find that recently there are posting that created a bit of disharmony worse some "flame baiting" noted we should not be like the countries who lack insight many muslim countries were irritated by the fact that Swiss voted against the muslim building a minaret in their country Swiss are know to be the most tolerant people around in asia the loudest of the criticize comes from Indonesia but if you look at Indonesia who is largely a muslim country, do you find chinese temples around or churches this posting is not about religion but a lesson for me especially complimenting and praising is better than criticizing if criticizing is required we should look at ourselves first it reminds me of a very unfair world in which we live in and on this Friday, live each day to the fullest like as if it is the last but dont drink and drive how come my small bottle of tiger beer is $7.50 and that has not include service charge and GST I order tiger at this hong kong style restaurant at Pasir Ris ground floor (Sands) so expensive, did not look at the price because thought at most $5 ... ouch

By By Ris Low for MSN , 19/11/2009 Ris Low: My not-so-secret ambitions In this first of a new MSN Blog series by Ris Low, the controversial ex-beauty queen bares her heart and soul in revealing some of her wildest dreams. MANY people have asked me about my life after the Miss Singapore World pageant, and whether the whole thing has affected me. I tell them no, I'm a survivor, and I can actually do so much more despite all the bad publicity. I'm not afraid to let people know about my past, and I believe that my future depends on myself, not what other people say or do. Therefore, I would love to do the following: Open an ice cream shop Ice cream is my love and I can never survive without it. It's always there for me whether I'm happy or sad. So it would be great if I could do this and open up a land filled with sugar and sweetness. I know I will be a good lady boss, because I can bring joy into people's lives. I will also bring up Singapore's service standards, by serving and interacting with my customers and ice-cream lovers personally, and not just sit behind the counter and give a face!

  22. http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking%2BNew...ory_384728.html June 2, 2009 Ex-police chief probed By Ben Nadarajan & Teh Joo Lin THE recently replaced commander of the Tanglin Police Division, Superintendent Paul Lim Choon Wui, is being investigated by the police after a waitress at the Shangri-La Hotel alleged that he had molested her. The alleged incident happened early last month at Shang Palace, a Chinese restaurant in the five-star hotel off Orchard Road. The 38-year-old bachelor was with a group of about 10 friends in a private room at the restaurant at that time. It is understood that Supt Lim was the only police officer in the group, and the dinner was a private event. The police are investigating the allegation of outrage of modesty, although they declined to reveal more because of ongoing investigations. The case is being handled by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), even though molestation cases are usually investigated at division level. The Straits Times understands that the matter has been referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers. Read the full story in The Straits Times on Tuesday.
  23. Snake bites man sitting on toilet bowl Taiwanese man felt a 'knife-like pain' when he sat down Mon, May 11, 2009 Reuters TAIPEI - A Taiwanese man became a sitting target for a snake, which bit his penis as sat on the toilet at his rural home, local media reported on Monday. "As soon as he sat down, he suddenly felt a knife-like pain and reacted instinctively by standing up," the China Times said. "When he looked down, he saw the big snake." The 51-year-old man, from Nantou County, was under medical care with minor injuries, a director at Puli Christian Hospital said. "As soon as he has passed the risk of infection, he can go," the director, who declined to be named, said. "A snake's mouth isn't always clean." Local television images showed the black and yellow reptile, reportedly a species of rat snake, being uncoiled and plucked slowly from the toilet bowl. Snakes regularly enter rural homes in Taiwan and other sub-tropical regions of Asia.
