Timber tycoons with good connections with the Orang Asli are willing to pay about RM1,000 for a sample. Malaysia, November 16, 2010 UNDIGESTED durian fruits excreted by elephants may sound disgusting, but faecal fruit could well be the most expensive (and delicious) aphrodisiac from the jungle. As supply is scarce, it is learnt that timber tycoons with good connections with the Orang Asli are willing to pay about RM1,000 for a sample. Simply termed as "elephant durians", the fruits are collected the same way as kopi luwak (civet coffee) in Indonesia. While the natives in Sumatra trail after the civet in search for its faeces consisting of undigested coffee berries, the Jakun in Malaysian forests follow elephants which have swallowed durian fruits. They have to take the risk to follow the mammals for at least four hours, as this is the duration needed by the animals for digestion before the fruit is excreted with the faeces. Malaysia Nature Society advisor (Johor branch) Vincent Chow heard about this aphrodisiac from his timber tycoon friends and Orang Asli. He said timber tycoons will usually book in advance the fruits from the Orang Asli during the durian season. "The Orang Asli are willing to trail the animal because of the good money the excreted fruit can fetch. "Based on what Orang Asli tell us, the faeces of elephant smell like tea and is not smelly at all as the mammal is a herbivore. "Moreover, the fruit remains clean as no dirt or bacteria can penetrate the hard and fibrous husk within the short time span. "Tycoons claim that the fruit will become an aphrodisiac after passing through the elephant's digestive tract. "Although there is no scientific evidence to suggest so, the high demand and good price for the fruit speak for itself," he told Streets. Chow say elephants usually swallows more than one fruit at a time. It is learnt that elephants will roll the fruit on the jungle floor by using its foot to smoothen its thorny surface before rolling and wrapping it with grass and leaves from the jungle floor and swallowing it. The mammal usually swallows more than one fruit at a time. This is probably the second food item in the world consumed by human in the form of faeces. The first is the above mentioned civet coffee. It is said the beans of this coffee yield a fragrant aroma and tastes much less bitter, and widely noted as the most expensive coffee in the world. http://www.soshiok.com/article/13783

first tasted it in M'sia. The belly portion of this freshwater catfish is fatty and oily , full of omega fats, absolutely delicious. normally served in chinese restaurants. i had ginger suace patin fish at 7th storey, it was great! then i had also at bukit merah happy joy restuarants also very good. but normally dun come cheap. it was 35++ in 7th storey and 28 at hapy joy. anyone know where i can get good and cheaper patin fish served ???

recently found a stray dog (rough Collie), she had given birth to 4 pups....and i was trying to locate her pups to bring her home so we can help them find good homes...she looks to have been domesticated before, as her nails looked groomed and she's frenly and tame with humans.... however, the difficult part is she refused to bring us to the pups...she kept walking round us and even led us to some far away place only to walk back again...we are just afraid that she and the pup would get run down by vehicles as that is in the Lim Chu Kang area where there's many heavy vehicles... anyone has any idea how to lure out the pups? or how to get the mum to show us the pups...we roughly know where they are but all covered by thick undergrowth, difficult to reach them... really worried for them...the mom also very thin...think not enuff nutrition...poor thing...pls help if u had the experience. this is for real, pls keep the unnecessary comments/posts away. we are trying to tink of ways to save their lives. thanks! ps: pls do not suggest SPCA, we do not want the dogs to be put down....

Shaw Organisation is currently having a promotion for movie vouchers. Its 80 bucks for 10 tickets. This will be good for people who only get to watch movies over the weekend cos you will be watching at 8 bucks a ticket instead of the usually weekend rates. Furthermore, there are no restrictions on what type of movies you can watch with these. I caught Wild Child with these vouchers on the week which Wild Child was first screen. I bought these vouchers at Lido and i am not sure if these are transferrable to other Shaw theatre locations but well Lido is not too badly located cos one can watch movie and walk walk in town without going into the ERP zones. Dont sure how long will this promotion be available though. Just want to share with MCF forumers.

Hi all, The story goes like this... Last week i found a small mynah bird standing on the steps of a staircase so i approach the bird see see if its injured. Instead the bird open its mouth thinking i have food or something, and it doesnt fly. So i figured its still a very very young bird that fell off from the nest... Afraid that the bird will become cat's food so i brought the bird home. And then ive been feeding it ever since. So everyday the bird just go whereever i go and it stands on my hands and shoulders but i cant leave it walking around the house because it shits everywhere! And i have a dog so i cant risk my dog eating the birdshit, So i bought a cage for the bird.. Then everyday the bird kpkb kpkb and makes alot of noise until i let it out of the cage to feed it. So i was thinking maybe i set it free! So i brought the bird to the field and the bird flew and flew for a few rounds and then landed infront of me! Then crows started to circle around us and from far can see cats looking at us. And so... the bird stand on my shoulder and we went home yet again. i already have a dog and a hamster and i dont really have time to attend to the bird, everyday have to rush home thiking the bird will get hungry, wa really quite tiring. Anyone here is a bird lover and willing to take in the bird? Or any advices? If i just leave it in the wild will it die? Normally birds will fly away even before u get near them but this one wont!

This thread is to detail bad experiences you have so that others will not suffer the same. I will start with mine: Location: Bukit Merah Lane 1 Hawker Centre (Just opposite Mova Automotive Workshop) Stall: Rong Guang BBQ Seafood Case: I ordered a few dishes and one of it is La-La (the shellfish in chilli sauce dish that many love) My Beef with Them: 90% of the shells are empty and the shellfish are pathetically small. Its about 1cm by 1cm per piece so go figure The food is not fantastic (average quality and taste) even though it was recommended by Yummy King. Watch out!!!!
