  1. http://www.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/courts-crime/story/tv-host-quan-yifeng-fined-800-inconsiderate-driving-20140423 By Walter Sim Mediacorp artiste and popular Channel 8 TV host Chuan Yi Fong - better known as Quan Yifeng - was fined $800 and disqualified three months from driving on Wednesday after she pleaded guilty to one charge of inconsiderate driving. Quan is said to have knocked Mr Raman Selvaraj, 28, down at the junction of Selegie Road and Sungei Road one morning on July 2 last year. But she immediately pulled over and rendered assistance to the man, who suffered a laceration to the back of his head, abrasions on his left elbow, and pain in his left hip. She also offered compensation of US$1,000, and to pay for all his medical expenses. This is her third brush with the law here. In 1996, she was convicted of fighting, and in 2011 was placed on 15 months' probation for committing mischief in an altercation she had with a taxi driver. Imo, driving is not for someone who easily lose control their emotions.

  5. http://www.worldcarfans.com/114020669844/aston-martin-will-recall-75-percent-of-all-cars-made-since Aston Martin DB9 2008-2014 model years Aston Martin has announced a major recall which will affect 75 percent of all cars manufactured since 2007. This huge recall affects no less than 17,590 cars made by Aston Martin and involves all left-hand drive cars manufactured since November 2007 and all right-hand drive models produced since May 2012 which according to a company spokesman represent approximately 75 percent of all cars built since 2007. Out of a total of 17,590 cars, 5,001 units are from North America while the other 12,589 units were sold worldwide and none of the recalled cars is a Vanquish model. This massive recall has to do with a Chinese sub-supplier who was using counterfeit plastic material for a component which they supplied to Aston Martin. Company spokeswoman Sarah Calam says 22 failed parts have been reported so far and luckily no accidents or injuries were related to this problem. As a result of this recall, Aston Martin is now being supplied directly by a DuPont distributor.
  6. What will be next model from Indonesia? Kijang? (SINGAPORE) The first Indonesian-built Honda will be launched in Singapore this weekend by authorised distributor Kah Motor. The Freed is a compact seven-seat MPV, and the cars headed here will be produced outside Jakarta, at Kawarang. But the Made-in-Indonesia label is not new to the local automotive market - Suzuki introduced its APV multi-purpose vehicle here in mid-2005. Other Japanese models are also sourced from Asean countries, such as Thailand (Toyota Vios, Corolla Altis and Camry, as well as Honda City and Accord) and Malaysia (Proton and Perodua). For a while, starting in mid-2004, there was also a Ford Laser from the Philippines. Because of its large manufacturing footprint, Honda has production facilities worldwide. Japan's second-biggest auto-maker began exporting cars to Singapore from other than its home base when the first Thai-made City sedan arrived here in 1996. This was followed by an Ohio, US-sourced Accord in 1998. Then in 2003, an Accord began arriving here from Thailand. In 2007, the sporty Civic Type R from the Swindon plant in the UK made its maiden appearance in Singapore. The Freed is a 1.5-litre mini-MPV that debuted in Japan in May 2008. A month later it became available here through parallel importers. It is based on the Jazz Hatchback platform, but with a longer 2,795 mm wheelbase and, of course, a third row of seats. Thanks to the tall roof and low cabin floor, the last row can accommodate two average-size adults in relative comfort. The Freed also has dual rear sliding doors. On the Kah Motor model, these are electrically powered. Kah Motor reckons the car will be a winner. 'If you look at the success of the Jazz, with all its desirable qualities like fuel economy and manoeuvrability, then it follows that the Freed, with its convenience of a third row of seats, will also be popular,' said Kah Motor's product manager Vincent Ng. Prices will only be announced on Friday, but the Freed is likely to cost more than the most expensive Jazz - currently the Jazz 1.5, which is priced from around $75,000. The authorised Freed will also be dearer than the $70,000 or so that parallel importers are asking for. In the 12 months since the Freed has been available here, about 600 units have been registered.

  8. The family of Dinesh Raman, the prison inmate who died after being negligently left in 'prone position' without adequate supervision, is unhappy with the sentence that the senior prison officer in charge was dealt. The officer who had not provided the adequate supervision which caused Dinesh's death was fined $10 000, an amount the family says does not compare to the life that was lost. The case took almost 3 years to come to a conclusion and the family says that they are still not sure how exactly the 21 year old had died in 'prone position'. The late Dinesh Raman was sentenced to reformative training in 2007 for the charges of rioting and theft. He was released in January 2010 but was recalled to Changi Prison in May after he failed to comply with his supervision order. His mother, a cleaner, expressed that she was unsure why he went back to jail. She had seen him for the last time shortly before we was re-imprisoned in May. She said that she was unable to visit him as she was stressed and occupied with other family matters at that time. As a mother, she had visited her son often during his first 3 years and continually encouraged and supported him. She said that as a boy, her son was always affectionate, kind and helpful around the house. His hobbies included simply listening to the radio, watching TV, playing games and exercising. She said that she is constantly reminded of her son and there isn't a day that goes past when she doesn't think about him. She continues to live in the same flat that the family used to share and has thought about her son every day since his death 3 years ago.

Should I wash all the glasses with car shampoo first then dry them, use glass cleaner clean them and apply glass compound? Or I can just wet all windows and dry them then apply glass compound? After applying glass compound, wash, dry and everything. Is it ok to apply rain repellent like Rain X?? Or is it recommended to?

  14. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp...1259979/1/.html Volkswagen to open seven factories in China Posted: 14 March 2013 WOLFSBURG, Germany: Volkswagen, Europe's biggest carmaker, said Thursday that it planned to open seven more factories in China, as it confirmed record net profits for 2012 and voiced optimism for next year. "In the coming years, we will build at least 10 new factories, seven of those in China alone," VW chief executive Martin Winterkorn told reporters as the firm released its annual earnings statement. From 2016, VW expects to churn out up to 300,000 vehicles per year in these Chinese factories, taking advantage of the world's fastest growing car market. Despite "headwinds, particularly in Europe," Winterkorn said he was "fundamentally confident" for the future of his firm and forecast a rise in operating profit for 2014. Last year, VW registered a record net profit of 21.7 billion euros (US$28.11 billion), a gain of nearly 41 percent compared with the previous period. Overall turnover roared ahead by 21 percent to 192.7 billion euros. Investors appeared unimpressed by the results -- which confirmed initial figures released in February -- driving down the value of Volkswagen stock on the DAX index of leading German shares. In mid-morning trade, Volkswagen was the worst performer on the DAX, dropping 3.45 percent compared to the wider market which was up 0.60 percent. - AFP/fl

  18. Plausible or full of sh1t? I think it's a bold move since LTA will sure rebut strongly? Also very puzzled by the insufficient all red comment. How long do you want the all red to be? I think they should reveal once and for all whether he had his pants on or not. Lawyers representing the family of the Ferrari driver who died in the Rochor Road crash have blamed the incident on "poor traffic conditions" and "surroundings". The Ferrari driver, Ma Chi, beat a red light and crashed into a taxi and a motorcycle at the Rochor Road traffic junction. The family's lawyers from Drew & Napier LLC also said the actions of the Ferrari driver who was a financial investor from Sichuan, were "unintended, unexpected and/or fortuitous". The May 12 crash killed the taxi driver and his Japanese passenger and injured the Ferrari passenger and the motorcyclist. They argued that the placement of the traffic lights at the junction "made it difficult for motorists to spot the traffic signals readily and easily", among other reasons. Their documents also stated that this led to vehicles having a "high likelihood" of failing to comply with traffic lights that just turned red against them. Adding on, the lawyers said the traffic-light system at the junction "did not provide sufficient time" for an "all-red phase" -- where all vehicles would stop at the junction. The junction was also labelled a "black spot" by the Land Transport Authority for the frequency of accidents there (over 15 accidents resulting in deaths or injuries in three years). Mr Ma's family lawyers were responding to a counter-claim and defence filed in the High Court on Sept 3 by lawyers acting for AXA Insurance Singapore who had withdrawn its coverage for the crash as it was "highly probably, foreseeable and to be expected". The lawyers from United Legal Alliance LLC also said it was a "collision", which meant the driver was aware that his actions would cause an accident, thereby voiding the insurer's liability to make a payout. However AXA told The Straits Times it would compensate the families of the third parties who were injured or killed in the crash.

  22. Ha..ha.. clone of iPhone to almost everythings are possible in China. Now........ Clone of an entire village of Austria. Yahoo reported : Made in China: an Austrian village HUIZHOU, China (Reuters) - A $940 million Chinese clone of one of Austria's most picturesque villages, the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Hallstatt, recently opened its doors to visitors in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong amidst some controversy. In a nation known for its skill in manufacturing knock-offs ranging iPhones to Hermes Birkins, the replica village is perhaps the most ambitious attempt at Chinese reproduction yet. The "Made in China" version of the lakeside European village known for tourism and salt includes an exact replica of its church clock tower, European style wooden houses and other properties that will be sold to investors. The project, conceived by a Chinese mining tycoon, initially sparked outrage and surprise among some Hallstatt villagers, who weren't at first aware of the attempt to copy their unique, centuries-old home. Half an hour's ride away from the gritty city of Huizhou, close to China's "world factory" of the Pearl River Delta, China's Hallstatt hopes to become a new tourist attraction. Disney-themed photo spots are scattered around the village's main plaza, which is modeled after Hallstatt's marketplace. "The moment I stepped into here, I felt I was in Europe," said 22-year-old Zhu Bin, a Huizhou resident. "The security guards wear nice costumes. All the houses are built in European style." Taking up one million square meters (yards), cranes and construction sites spread across barren hills above the gabled houses, promising an expansion of the current town. One day, we will find the entire Orchard Road somewhere in China.....
  23. hi guys, nowadays, some of the branded tyres are made in Malaysia, Thailand or even Indonesia. Anyone know which maker of tyres are made in Malaysia? Would it be cheaper to buy those tyres in Malaysia? I understand if they are imported tyres...it is not worth as tax there are quite high. But how about those branded tyres that are made in Malaysia? No tax so price might be cheaper? Anyone can share they experience?
  24. Singapore girl laughs at NSF who died during training: Singaporeans too weak? LOL Posted by temasektimes on April 18, 2012 A Singapore girl Zheng Huiting (pic left) sparked a massive outcry in cyberspace with an insensitive comment posted on the Facebook of a friend who shared a link on the unfortunate death of a full-time National Serviceman (NSF) yesterday. 21 years old Private (PTE) Lee Rui Feng Dominique Sarron from the 3rd Battalion of the Singapore Infantry Regiment (SIR) collapsed and died during training in Lim Chu Kang yesterday. A statement from the Defence Ministry said he lost consciousness soon after at 12.33pm. Mindef said an SAF medic attended to him immediately. Private Lee was sent to Sungei Gedong Medical Centre at 12.46pm and then to the National University Hospital (NUH) at 1.03pm. An SAF doctor continued to resuscitate him in the ambulance en route to the hospital. He was pronounced dead at 2.05pm at NUH. This is the third reported death involving SAF personnel this year. The earlier two involved an NS man in January, and a full-time NS man in March. In response to a link to a Straits Times article posted on the Facebook of a friend, Huiting wrote:
