  1. Hi Guys, My ride miledge is ~ 65,000km, 3+ yrs. Any preventive maintenance for the aircon recommended? Checked with AD & their reply was "don't need to do anything unless something is wrong".
  2. How to you do maintenance for your wheel? Here's what I do and please feel free to comment. And please teach, if you think there are better ways. Priority is result. 1) Wash with Wheel cleaner or car wash or even degreaser if required (I checked the labels to make sure they are not acidic, e.g. in the Meg range some are acidic, some are not) 2) Prep with Paint cleaner. (e.g. Swissvax cleaner fluid, Do Do Juice, Zymol HD Cleanse) 3) Protection (Wheel Wax like Swissvax Autobahn which can be put on like normal wax, Or Sonax Spray on wheel protect which needs 1 hour to cure).
  3. Hi all, Happy New Year, Would like to find out more about the maintenance cost for Saab and Volvo. a) For normal servicing, do the local ADs allow you to bring your own oil and oil filter? b) What is the indicative servicing cost for the respective service intervals? Some other brands AD published their servicing cost on-line, Saab and Volvo, do they? c) Which brand has the perceived higher maintenance cost in the long run? d) Are there lack of local expertise in servicing these 2 car brands? e) Are there local stockist for parts and accessories of these 2 brands? f) Generally, which one has a higher insurance premium? g) Are there authorized servicing centre in JB for these 2 brands? Can new and old cars (after 3 years) go there for servicing? in case they only recognize MY regsitered Saab or Volvo. Thank you very much. Regards,

  6. Hi guys, my car is coming 3 years old / 90K and aircon is as good as day 1, but nothing's been change other than aircon filter. Is there any PM that we can do to our car's aircon before it breaks down?
  7. Everytime when a car has been serviced by a distributor, the distributor would indicate the next mileage due for servicing Or month due for servicing whichever is earlier. I am just wondering if it is ok to just to send our car for the next servicing based solely on the Mileage and ignore the Month due. I ask this because I have travelled overseas for 3 months after my car's last servicing. The car is due for servicing this month or a mileage of 30148 Km which ever is earlier. However, I have cloaked only 24234Km till now. Wouldn't it be a waste of $$$ to send the car for servicing 5000km before its mileage is due simply because the duration has been six month since the last service ??? Any brothers here face this scenario before ??? Would you still send your car based on the 6 month period still ???

  11. Hi, As a new driver with less than a year's experience, I've never bothered to check my car's conditions. I've only opened the bonnet once, and only checked the tyre pressure once in a year. To my horror, all tyres were underflated (155 - 170 KPA rather than the vendor recommended 205 KPA). Every time I just sent the car to C&C for service, and for the past two trips, each cost me around $400. Some bros here commented it was too exp. So my question is: to what extent can I do the maintenance myself? Change of engine oil, brake fluid, send car to tyre shopt for balancing and rotation? Also, is there any short course (like 2-3 hours in total) that teaches you basic car maintenance? Thanks.
  12. Not talking about those body kits or performance mod... anywhere can find car accessories shops in JB? Looking for detailing or cosmetic stuff. Thanks!

  18. Hi guys, 1. Wanted to have a feel of the general maintenance practice and cost for conti cars in SG. 2. Do they allow you to bring your own engine oil, oil filter and etc for servicing? Are there plenty of shops that sell conti parts and accessories in places like Waterloo street? Are there many workshops that specialize in handling conti cars? 3. How about warranty period? Are they comparable to those offered by Japanese Agents? 4. Why are conti servicing fees much higher than Japanese cars? 5. Is it true that conti car owners usually don't mod their cars? i.e. either no parts to mod or good enough not to be modded? 6. Do you really find your choice a special one comparing with people who are driving Japanese cars? 7. Do you think your conti can last you for 10 good years without major problems in SG? 8. Is it true that conti owners have to pay more for insurance premium compared with Japanese made? Thank you. Regards,

  22. Do anyone know where can I learn how to do car maintenance, like simple tasks of check battery water, tyre pressure, engine oil and etc ?
  23. Hi everyone, I have a question. When we talk about 1000km, 5000km & 10000km maintenance after you get a new car, do we refer to when the milleage meter hit 1000km, 5000km & 10000km, then we need to send the car for maintenance ? I am a bit confused because I sent in my new car after 990km milleage in Apr for maintenance at C&C. There was a sticker at the windscreen that says your next maintenance of the car shall be at 5990km or Jul 07 whichever is earlier. So, does the above means after 1000km milleage, after another 5000km milleage and after another 10000km milleage we need to send the car for maintenance ???
