  1. As per topic. Can Malaysian Work Permit holder drive SG car for work-related purposes? I heard that his occupation stated in the Work Permit needs to show he is employed as a driver. If want to employ a Malaysian for a non-driver job, but needs him to drive occasionally cannot izzit?
  2. read this news in Xin Ming last night (sorry can't find any online version) the story goes like this... this black Malaysian car parked in front of 2 cars in an open carpark at 7am+.. The owner was a supplier who made his delivery in the morning, and went for breakfast nearby after couldn't find any lots one of the trapped cars waited an hour, honked non-stop and in the end called the police after an hour, the Malaysian owner turned up and quarreled with the owner of the trapped car... he claimed he left his contact number on his windscreen and nobody called him he also challenged the owner of the trapped car to crash his car if he wanted to get out of his lot, saying he needed a new car anyway in the end he was fined $50 i understand putting contact number on the windscreen is a common practise in Malaysia, but hey this is Singapore... and to think the Malaysian driver can be so yaya when he was in the wrong it's just like we go Malaysia and starting using tissue papers to book tables and insist we are right

  5. Malaysian road bullies smashed S'pore car in JB -- because driver didn't give way STOMPer angry's car was badly smashed by a group of men in Johor Bahru at about 3am last Sunday (Apr 17), all because he failed to give way to a Malaysia-registered car. Said the STOMPer: "I went to JB for drinks, petrol, car wash and food. This happened at Stulang Laut (the ZON), which is popular among Singaporean drivers for its seafood. "The attack is believed to have started from a misunderstanding due to my failure to give way to a red Malaysian car that emerged from a small lane. "I had proceeded following behind the car in front of me and shortly, trouble came. My car was stopped by another man at the gate of the ZON. "The passengers in this red car rushed to my door and smashed the window with their fists and I can clearly see one man with a steering wheel lock. "I quickly drove off and soon, I saw more people chasing after my car. These were people on motorcycles and everything turned chaotic. "This attack happened all the way from Stulang Laut to the JB customs. I drove into the customs to sought protection from the police and surprisingly, these attackers followed me all the way into the customs and carried on smashing the car. "There were just a few police officers and they got us (there were two other friends with me) out of the car. But after we were out of the car, they carried on with the attack and even jumped on the roof of my car." According to the STOMPer, about 20 men attacked his car that night. He found out from Malaysian police later that only nine people were arrested, and among them were three 15-year-old minors. He added: "I had been chased by two Malaysian cars and at least 10 motorcycles that night. "I had numerous helmets being thrown at my car and several attempts by the two cars to corner my car. I am a frequent visitor to JB for the cheap food and petrol. "I am writing this to inform fellow drivers, that JB is totally not safe at all and we are always the vulnerable victims." http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...because_of.html

  7. http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-570978 Local Malaysian newspaper Berita Harian published a caricature in their editor's column today that depicts the popular Japanese cartoon character Ultraman as trying to outrun an incoming tsunami. The publication has received tremendous criticisms by readers, who accuse the editors as being "inconsiderate and distasteful". Several political leaders have even stepped out and demand a public apology, to which the editors promptly made on their publication's Facebook fan page.
  8. Around my work area (GL), i see many malaysian vans who are clearly here to work. The vans are full of tools, machinery and equipment including ladders, etc. The driver and passenger are clearly workers. They are here everyday and i believe even overnight (cos there are some hostels/quarters near my area so i see them coming back from work and next morning they come out and drive off to work). If they are on work permit, are they allowed to drive Malaysian registered vehicles? I believe that any one with any kind of long term pass (student pass, work pass, etc) cannot drive Malaysian registered cars in singapore. If they are on social pass then they are working illegally.
  9. Malaysian teachers and principals ought to be shot. I'm wondering whether they are allowed to gamble in casinos due to "you know what" http://sg.yfittopostblog.com/2011/02/01/m%...t-spore-casino/ The students were left in the hotel while some teachers and the principal tried their luck at the casino. (AFP Photo) It was supposed to be a graduation trip to Singapore for a group of Malaysian primary school students, but now, their teachers and principal are accused of abandoning them to visit the casino. According to a Kuala Lumpur-based newspaper report, a student
  10. Quote: LONDON - A MALAYSIAN student was allegedly drugged and raped in a London college by seven Russian men, including an intelligence officer, who have been arrested, reported a British newspaper. According to The Sun daily, the teenage girl, who is studying at the prestigious Bellerbys College in Greenwich, South London, was at a party on Jan 23 with other English-language students when she was drugged and assaulted by the seven men. As they raped the 18-year-old in succession, they filmed the attack on iPhones. The footage was retrieved by police when they arrested the men later. 'The incident was horrific,' the newspaper quoted a source as saying. 'Mobile phone footage has been recovered that clearly shows the girl to be under the influence of drugs.' The victim reportedly raised the alarm after staggering into a friend's room. 'She is distraught. She is very young and it is believed she was given a drug before being defiled,' said the source. Four men have been charged with the assault, including intelligence officer Oleg Vladimirvich Ivanov, 23. All four were aged between 22 and 26. http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking...ry_630281.html
  11. Was on the road most of yesterday and couldnt help but notice a trend...gone are the dusty old looking vehicles from Malaysia, now they are replaced by MY registered Porsche Caymans, nice shiny civics, saw one black Mark X, lots of Camrys...new and expensive cars..Then I see 6-7 years old SG sunnys, altis and lots of old SG cars... A sign of the times? JB is benefitting from Singapore's growth and also their own Iskandar project? Anybody noticing this trend? If so we better buck up..or else...
  12. About 2 hours ago a few cars were caught queue-jumping along a 4-lanes road in JB. One white Toyota Corolla Altis was waved and told by first TP to leave the queue after he squeezed from Lane 2 into Lane 3. After leaving the queue, he tried behind the back of the first TP to squeeze back into the same queue. This time another TP behind the first TP wavered him aside and booked him and did not allowed him to go into Lane 3. The two Casinoes are in Singapore, not JB. I believe it is not wise to gamble that manner there

  17. Last year I got insurance for my 1 year old car, cost me <$500 (50% NCD). This year I ask them how much to renew, they charge me $2000 to renew (50% NCD). Same car, same NCD, no claims or accidents, 1 year older, 4X the premium. Is this happening to all the insurance companies, or isolated case only for this company? Btw, this is a Malaysian insurance company. Time to switch.....
  18. wah just saw the news on CH8 and went dig out this...really power sia...thk maybe boleh land will start riots liao... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100127/ap_on_...aysia_allah_ban Kuala Lumpur Mosques desecrated with pig's head - symbolic tit-for-tat for attack on 11 churches and sikh temple Four wild-boar heads were thrown early this morning into the compound of two mosques along Jalan Klang Lama, a major road in the southwest of Kuala Lumpur. Not quite the same as burning a church down ~ and no doubt pigs ran wild over all of Malaysia at one time - in this case a good mop and bucket will do the trick. One thing must be said that the Malaysia authorities have moved quickly to arrest those responsible for the attacks on the non-Muslim places of worship - which is almost completely at odds with the way it works in the rest of the Muslim world - where most attacks are carried out with impunity - in some case the police are there as witnesses. The Koran calls for a very definite second class status for non-Muslims living among Muslims in the Islamic world - and most of the time this is respected over universal human rights norms. Kuala Lumpur (AsiaNews) - Some mosques in Kuala Lumpur have been desecrated with pig's heads. The remains of the animal - which is considered "unclean" by Muslims - were scattered in fields adjacent the places of worship. The police speak of a link between this incident and recent attacks on Christian churches, which broke out following the controversy over the use of the word "Allah". AsiaNews sources confirm that there is an ongoing in Malaysia attempt to " politically destabilize the country". In the last few weeks 11 Christian churches and Protestants, a Sikh temple and Muslim places of worship have been affected. Inter-religious tensions in Malaysia exploded after the court ruling last December 31, which authorized Christians to use the word "Allah" to refer to God in the Malay language. Musa Hassan, chief of police, points a finger at "a group" that aims to stoke sectarian hatred in a country with a Muslim majority, but that is also home to large Chinese and Indian communities. Hazelaihi Abdullah, imam of the mosque in Taman Dato Harun, confirmed the discovery of a severed pig's head near the place of worship. A similar episode occurred in the nearby mosque of Al Imam al Tirmizi and the mosque of Sri Sentosa, on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur. Hishammuddin Hussein, Minister for Foreign Affairs, condemned the attempt to "create chaos in the country." The Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism - a body that promotes interfaith dialogue - has issued a statement stressing that "all violence against places of worship and prayer is a very serious sin" and has invited civil society "not to give in to provocation". AsiaNews sources in Kuala Lumpur confirm ongoing attempts to " politically destabilize the country." "Some people
  19. Malaysian side have implemented the new white card. It is the same size as previous white card. The difference is that instead of 4 column on the white card, now you have 3 column to fill in. As there is only 3 column, the size of font is bigger. The old white card today when I go in to do the Macs for my wife, the immigration officer said cannot be used already. But for some it can still be used. Because of that cars going in to Msian side quite heavy jam... here is the sample of white card below
  20. KUALA LUMPUR: A top Malaysian general sold an air force jet engine, which was kept in a military warehouse, into the black market abroad and made Twitter Facebook Share Email Print Save Comment millions of dollars, as details of the theft began to emerge in the media. The unnamed Brigadier-General and 40 other armed forces personnel were sacked late last year over their alleged involvement in the case of the missing 50 million ringgit jet fighter engine belonging to the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF). Local papers reported about the theft of the engine which took place reportedly last year. It was reportedly sold to a foreign buyer when the Brigadier-General was the department head.
