  3. Used to wash my MPV at Lor 7, T Payoh SPC but prices had been increasing and quality had been......... . First started at $6/- per wash in 2007 and then increased to $8/- per wash last year and recently one week before CNY, $9/-. Also tried at Caltex along Braddell Road (after SPH) which cost $5/- per vehicle (any types of vehicles) and also comes with a 'free next wash' coupon within a certain number of days. I used to get thick foam being sprayed onto the vehicle but now, only sponge from a big blue plastic drum containing the foam ...... Anyone know of a good manual wash to recommend ........

  12. After reading all the horror stories about auto car wash, I decided to try manual car wash. This afternoon, I went to the outlet which is located at a Shell petrol kiosk along Guillemard Road toward Nicoll Highway. For those who have not tried it before, here's the procedure: You drive up and queue behind the car in front of you, which is currently been washed. A guy will come to enquire what type of service you want. You can choose: (a) to wash the exterior only @ $6 (b) to wash exterior and vacuum the interior @ $10 © wax and polish - not sure I wanted them to wash the exterior only. When the car in front has finished, the driver is to drive to another spot to have the car dried. I am to drive the car forward. The cleaners would then come and jet-spray the water, sponge the entire car with detergent and finally rinse off. All this was done while I was in the car. Interesting experience... Once done, I was to drive to another spot to have my car wipe dry. This is where you have to be careful. The lane is very narrow. I had a hard time negotiating the turns. A few scratch marks on the wall serve as a warning to all to be extremely careful. I drove to the designated spot, got out, paid the guy and watch the rest dry the car. All in all, I am quite pleased with the result. The entire process took about 15 minutes. For those who had their cars washed and vacuumed at JB will know that only RM7 (i.e. S$3) is needed. Over here, $6 is a bit steep. Not forgetting that it does not include vacuuming. What to do? It's either we have the convenience of having our car manually washed here or join the long queue at the checkpoint.

  15. Is it really such a bad idea to send my car, black civic, to a car wash? I have warned by some friends not to send it to a car wash as they do not really take care of your car and might leave scratches. Anyway, I think I have been quite careful washing my car on my own, but still I can see fine line scratches and so I am thinking of giving up and sending it for manual car wash. Any advice?

  17. Hi Planning to get a car before the COE continune to climb further. Standard recommendations 1. Nissan Sunny (plus: got 3 yrs/ 100k warranty? minus: FC poor, but manual FC ok) 2. Mit Lancer (decent) Others? 1. Daihatsu Sirion (smaller in size, any other minus points?) Considerations: 1. Price 2. Low Maintanence 3. Safety(must have ABS, very impt, experience it several times before ) 4. Comfort/Space (plan to bring kids / parents in the rear) Thanks all in advance for recommendations Regards
  18. Guy, understand MT generally have better FC than AT. But AT oso have the traditional 4 gear and the new CVT. So in those 3 types of transmission which have the BEST FC and which one LOUSIEST. And wats the science behind MT having better FC.
  19. Search the entire site, read until still blur What will be the ideal setup for balance of low end, high end plus a little gain on power? I assumed, 4-2-1 extractor, high flow cat and straight thru muffler? Does backpressure needed for manual rides? Thanks in advance.
  20. Today been to test drive both cars briefly. Below are my personal thoughts on the 2 cars. Exterior: Its something very subjective, but both cars have just what it takes to make me take a 2nd or 3rd or 4th ....look at them should I encounter any on the road. Interior: Both the Bravo's & 147's interior looks futuristic with very good fit & finish, instruments are very well laid out & designed for great ease of use, however, the 147's interior seems more sophisticated with all the sexy curves smartly planted within the car. The red speedometers & illuminators the 147 is simply wicked The drive: Road holding around corners is especially good on both cars, however, the Alfa 147 still feels moreplanted during aggresive cornering. Perhaps it might partly be due to the rims. The bravo is running on stock 16" steel rims as opposed to the 147's 17" sports rims. One thing I like particularly about the Bravo is the small turning radius. Perfect car for doing illegal U-turns The steering on the Bravo somehow feels lighter than the 147, even at speed . This might not be a good idea if you are those that likes to break the legal speed limit along NS highway. However, parking with the Bravo is simply Coming to road noise, this is where the Bravo really excels. The cabin is very well insulated against the road & engine noise. While driving at more civil speeds (or RPM The moment you slam on the pedal from 2500RPM onwards, the car will just shoot off with the engine pulling very lustily punctuated by a sweet engine note that is very similar to the 147, except it is not as bassy and before you know it, the engine RPM is already knocking off the rev limiter at 6000rpm ...a little too soon compared to the 147. Nevertheless, both the 147 and Bravo have very beefy and linear torque from 3000 to the redline range. Although so much has been said about how good the Selespeed is as it is being used in the F1 cars, I still prefer the good 'ol manual system found the Bravo (its 6 Speed!). Probably, I'm not very used to the paddle shifting on the 147 whereby it will take slightly under 1 second for responding to each tap with a slight jerk. Verdict: On paper, the performance specs for the Bravo looks better than the 147 as its max torque comes in at under 2500 RPM! However, as all the Alfistis know...The sting of the "serpent" is very deadly My heart will say "Give me an Alfa". My wallet would pull me back to reality and point towards the Bravo. Though I'd choose the 147 anytime over the Bravo, but it does not mean Bravo is inferior. Its just that the andrenaline sucker side of me will prefer the rough, deep & ecstatic note of the engine coupled with the wild handling of the 147. Perhaps, if I'm as blessed as some of the forumers here with a 6 figure annual salary, I'd get the very comfortable, executive & classy looking Bravo for commuting on the weekdays, blowing off pesky taxi drivers with the massive torque on tap, and the 147 for some weekend fun
  21. my car manual states to use GL-4 75W-85 for my manual transmission gear oil but many brands selling are 75W-90. Can use?
