  7. Business Times - 28 Feb 2012 DBS security head quits, cites health reasons By NISHA RAMCHANDANI AND KENNETH LIM (SINGAPORE) There has been no indication so far that the card-skimming syndicate which struck three DBS Bank ATMs has been selling the data cloned from the cards online, the bank said yesterday. 'We are working closely with the police on the investigation, and so far, the sale of cloned data online has not been detected,' said a DBS spokesman in response to queries from BT, commenting on speculation that the syndicate could have sold confidential client data online. The card-skimming syndicate first hit DBS customers in January, withdrawing cash from ATMs in Malaysia with clones of original cards used at two ATM machines in Bugis in November. Nearly 700 DBS customers lost a total of about $1 million, which the bank compensated. DBS also deactivated and replaced the cards of 2,726 customers - deemed to be 'high-risk' - who had used the two ATMs at Bugis. This was followed by another bout of unauthorised withdrawals on Feb 19, this time in Singapore, when the fraudsters stole $23,000 from the accounts of 17 DBS customers. Last week, DBS revealed that it believed a different ATM - without divulging the location - in addition to the two at Bugis had been compromised at around the same time of the Bugis skimming. The 17 customers were compensated within 24 hours. The bank again deactivated and replaced the cards of a further group of customers who were potentially at risk of fraudulent domestic withdrawals. DBS has been replacing cards with an EMV chip, as part of a re-carding process that began in January, as the banks in Singapore seek to move to EMV chip technology by 2014. In response to a query on whether more ATMs could have been compromised, the spokesman said: 'Only if and when actual fraudulent withdrawals take place, and common patterns identified, can a bank conclude that skimming has taken place.' To minimise risk, it has rolled out measures including SMS alerts upon withdrawals and blocking overseas withdrawals. Separately, DBS said its managing director of compliance services and security, Jim Pasqurell, has tendered his resignation due to health issues but added that ongoing investigations will not be hampered by his departure. Mr Pasqurell, 62, will remain with the bank until end-May to ensure a smooth transition process.
  8. Man molests 9-year-old at shopping centre toilet The crime occurred inside a shopping mall toilet along Rivervale Crescent. Police arrested the suspect within four hours of receiving notice. Wed, Feb 22, 2012 AsiaOne SINGAPORE - A 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly molesting a 9-year-old boy inside a male toilet of a shopping mall along Rivervale Crescent on February 19. The police received notice of the incident at about 1.30pm on February 21 and apprehended the suspect within four hours of the report being made. The suspect was caught after the police examined the CCTV footage at the shopping mall and managed to establish the identity of the molester. He was then arrested in the vicinity of the shopping mall at about 5.30pm on February 21. Investigations are still on-going. Under the law, an act of outrage of modesty carries an imprisonment term of up to five years, fine, caning, or any combination of the three. The police advised parents to maintain a close watch over their young children in public places, and to make a police report immediately if they suspect a crime has been committed.

  11. A car is just a 'thing' which moves us from A to B. Some do it faster than others. That's about all in the begining. Then car designers/makers start to create attractive shapes, more power, brandname/image etc and attach all these to the car and as a result some pple spend millions just to buy one, occasionally use it to go from A to B, but most of the time to admire it or make others admire it and themselves. Other than the size of the car which makes it so visible and therefore 'represents' very clearly the owner's wealth, status, and taste etc, what other aspects make a car so important in a man's life to become his lover? Some cars achieve the opposite due to its look and/or reputation (or the lack of both) so much so that pple claim they wont be seen alive driving them. How much of your income / time go into your ride?...... most likely after your flat/house, this is your 2nd most expensive possession (not counting your wife/gf). In fact, quite many MCFers join the forum because of their love for cars. To test your love for cars, which model/car you are trhing to own, after which you will take a long time to look for / change to another one again? meaning your dream car which will satisfy your love for car and stop you from looking for another one

Here's an interesting pictorial of how a self admitted idiot went to a workshop after 40,000km of driving WITHOUT changing engine oil and how the workshop salvaged the situation. Taken from http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showt...d.php?t=1281659 OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG MORE OMGOMGOMGness!!!! 18. i though the reason why we had to pay high salary is to ensure NO corruption there are so many cases from transport to medical services headache Hospital's ex-deputy director charged with corruption Tan Tock Seng Hospital's ex-deputy director Peh Chew Seng allegedly requested a bribe from a contractor in exchange for help to win a contract. Tue, Nov 22, 2011 AsiaOne SINGAPORE - Tan Tock Seng Hospital's (TTSH's) ex-deputy director Peh Chew Seng allegedly requested a bribe from a contractor in exchange for help to win a contract during his tenure. Court documents state that in February 2009, Peh had asked for an unspecified amount from Executive Director of PBT Engineering Mr Phua Boon Kin, through one of the firm's employees, Mr Sim Keok Soon. In return, Peh allegedly offered his assistance in helping PBT win the contract for the construction of a temporary office for the hospital next to TTSH's main building. Peh is now working as a manager with SMRT. The police initially set a $5,000 bail, which the court increased to $10,000 after Peh's lawyer told the court that his client would be going to Taiwan for a holiday next week. 20. if you dont why? if you do why? do you think it is difficult to be a BOSS, looking after the company's interest and yours, but sometimes there will be conflicting priorities, so what to do? if your boss gave you monetary rewards for a job well done or truly appreciate your hard work by praising you infront of your other colleagues and taking you out for a treat, which is better for you (please no bedding or sex afterwards - just plain makan) if you boss keep scolding you, it is often so easy to say your boss is PMT or nut case, but have anyone examine themselves and maybe eureka moment realised that they themselves are the problem is your boss much smarter than you or you are smarter than your boss, if so why are you still working for him or her myself, unfortunately i am my own very boss, no employee yet
