  3. Believe it or not, the Nissan Micra (sold as the March here) has been sold in the U.K. for the past 30 years and Nissan aims to celebrate with new offers. Call me evil or unprofessional, but as soon as I read the news I could not help but head to YouTube to find the above clip. If you are a Micra owner - in that colour hue especially - I meant no disrespect. The subcompact was first launched in Britain in 1983, and after four generations, it has remained dependable and affordable. This fantastic achievement highlights Micra's longstanding popularity. Nissan believes life begins at 30 (isn't it 40?) and to help the Micra stay healthy, the Japanese automaker has announced a range of new '30' themed offers for Micra owners. To begin with, all Micra drivers with over three years of ownership can now benefit from a Ministry of Transport test (MOT)

  11. SINGAPORE: The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has recorded its biggest loss in 40 years on the back of a strong Singapore dollar. MAS has recorded a net loss of S$10.9 billion for its fiscal year ended March 2011. This compared to a record net profit of S$10 billion posted last year. The central bank said excluding exchange rate effects, it achieved income and net capital gains totalling S$12.3 billion during the financial year ended March 2011. MAS disclosed these figures in its latest annual report released Thursday. The loss comes as the foreign exchange impact from the stronger Singapore dollar exceeded the interest, dividend and valuation gains on foreign assets held. Most of MAS's assets comprise official foreign reserves. These are invested in a diversified range of foreign currency assets. During the year, the Singapore dollar appreciated against most currencies including the US dollar, Euro and Sterling Pound, but weakened against the Yen. The total assets of the central bank, including the Currency Fund, grew by S$13.85 billion to S$299.75 billion in the financial year ended 31 March 2011. In 2010, MAS tightened its monetary policy as the economy strengthened. It shifted to a modest and gradual appreciation of the exchange rate policy band in April 2010. Further tightening was undertaken in October 2010 and April 2011 as growth became more entrenched and resource constraints more binding. MAS said the tighter monetary policy stance will ensure price stability over the medium term and keep growth on a sustainable path. In the chairman's message of the annual report, Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam said that "the ongoing sovereign debt crisis in the European periphery poses significant risks - both to global economic growth and financial stability." Mr Shanmugaratnam added that Singapore faces a changed financial landscape globally following the crisis of 2008-2009, and that the regulatory approach in Singapore will "evolve, whilst retaining the close monitoring and supervision of financial institutions that ensures that our financial system remains resilient and stable." In the capital markets MAS implemented several safeguards for investors such as guidelines on the form and content of the Product Highlights Sheet. MAS said it will also implement changes to fund management regulation, aimed at raising the quality of players and enhancing regulatory oversight to enable sustained growth of the industry. Going forward Mr Shanmugaratnam said MAS will continue to support the development of Singapore as an international financial centre "trusted for its high standards of regulation, integrity and efficiency." - CNA/cc
  12. Toyota still No. 1 with 1179 units registered up to March 2011. BMW a very close second with 1072 units registered. VW has replaced Merc as number 3 and Porsche is still on Top 10. Traditional better selling brands like Mazda, Suburu, Suzuki and Mit are "eating" grass. Figures are taken off LTA website and based on car registrations by make. 18. Just heard the news from unofficial source, can anyone confirm?
  19. Went in yesterday afternoon. Overheard from the reminder from 933 radio station so decided to go take a look. Not much cars so journey was smooth. Upon reaching there, wah first time see so many cars and people there. Haha. But still managed to find a sheltered parking lot within 5 mins. The carpark layout is similar to the Giant store in Tampines Ave 10 over here in SG. The smaller tenants format roughly the same as Tesco Tebrau, even Tesco store itself the layout was about 95% similar..haha...but the tv section was much neater and bedding section there have more varieties. Bought lots of things. Btw the makan section there was crowded man, the sushi counter/grilled chicken with long queues....where to find RM1 sushi and RM8.60 chicken? haha Lots of discounts and freebies given too. Many of the promoters shove haircare sachets, samples to me. Btw, saw this brand of crab spread, look abit like those tuna spread. bought some and tried. Yummy!!! Opening promotions will end this coming Sun. But I anticipate more crowds on weekends leh... Btw there's only a KFC there and a foodcourt. So bros here if wana have good makan probably need to go over to Jusco nearby.
  20. I'm thinking of buying this little babe as a spare car to be used mostly in JB when I go visit my girlf. Back then in Aust 10+ years ago, my ex-girlf drove this car and I was very impressed with its reliability and ultra low FC. Just wondering if there're any particular problems I should look out for with this model? The car is like 14-15 years old and I have allocated about SGD3,000 budget to get the car into tip-top condition. Now still deciding between March and Savvy. For Savvy, sure there's no problem with maintenance as I can get every fixed in any workshops up north but the price is like twice higher than the COE March.
  21. Hi! just wondering what do you think? Do you think 5 people could sqeeze into a nissan march with no problems and stress to the car driving up to KL? WIll it cause erm tyre to puncture, suspension to disintegrate. 5 medium sized adults
