  1. I am looking for a new car, after shopping for one weekend and test drive 6 different cars, Altis, Gen 2, Waja, Lancer, Mazda 3 and Honda Civic Vtec I have short listed 2 of my best choice. Mazda 3 and Honda Civic. My budget is about 75K. I am now driving Lancer MR. I like my present carvery much, but it is too high cost to maintance it, so no choice has to script it and look for another car. So brothers and sisters, any suggestion on this 2 cars, which is is better? p/s I have post this question in another forum, and post here again just to get some ideas from different people. Thanks BR Clifford

  3. Hi all, Need some advice here. Thinking of getting a hatchback car and the above 3 models are rather comparative. Which of would you buy? My agent just called me and told me Mazda 2 is now $68K. Jazz if I am not wrong was $72 but now reduced $3K so should be $69K. How much is Colt? $65K? I am looking at the auto version which Mazda2 is already auto at $68K. Jazz must add money? $2-3K? Mazda 2 and Colt is 1.5 and Jazz is 1.3. Fuel consumption wise Honda best followed by the other two. Anyone got any other info to share or advices? Sales agents are welcomed to PM me too if you good offer. Thanks.
  4. Reuters / September 29, 2004 DETROIT -- Mazda Motor Corp. is recalling 42,000 cars in the United States because their airbags may fail to deploy in a crash, U.S. federal safety regulators said. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the vehicles in the recall were 2004 model-year Mazda3 cars. Because of a crack in the airbag housing, water can seep into the sensor that activates the device and cause a short circuit, NHTSA said. This is the first time that Mazda3 cars from the 2004 model year have been recalled.

  11. Turbo Mazda 6 Guns For Mondeo ST he new cars just keep coming from Mazda! This is the hottest-ever version of the 6 - and it's on course to take the performance saloon market by storm when it arrives in showrooms. To be badged MPS - which stands for Mazda Performance Series - the newcomer will go head-to-head with the likes of the Ford Mondeo ST220 and Alfa Romeo 156 GTA. However, we will be able to see a production version of the car in the metal long before it appears on British forecourts in August next year. That's because bosses at the Japanese company are hinting that a left-hand-drive model will appear at the Paris Motor Show in September. The magazine's spies caught the car undergoing hot-weather testing in the Mojave desert in America, where Mazda's men have been assessing the engine's cooling ability. The photographs show how the manufacturer has used the look of the MPS concept, which debuted at the Paris Motor Show in 2002. They reveal how the manufacturer is aiming for a slightly different appearance with the MPS, to distinguish it from less performance-oriented 6 models. At the front, there's more of an overall RX-8 look, while the headlamps get a darker tint to give a more aggressive feel. The standard 6's two-bar grille is replaced by a more prominent three-bar arrangement, while the front bumper includes an air splitter, and has three separate air vents to aid cooling and deliver a beefier physical appearance. At the rear, the MPS features exclusive tail-lamps, while the lean and low body style continues, with individual side skirts and a chunky rear bumper, which the model's twin exhaust pipes poke through. Larger wheels and tyres, as well as a discreet boot spoiler, complete the picture, although Mazda main dealers are expected to offer a bigger aerofoil to those buyers who want their cars to make more of an impact. And making an impact is something the MPS promises to be good at, as it looks like beating competitors in terms of its power output. Unlike its main rivals, the Mazda will make do with four cylinders instead of a V6, but the 2.3-litre engine, based on that fitted to the 6 Sport, will have a turbocharger bolted on to develop in excess of 280bhp. This will be enough to give the MPS a 0-60mph sprint time of less than six seconds, while the maximum speed is expected to be more than 150mph. Power will be transmitted to the tarmac via a four-wheel-drive transmission, already used on the AWD estate version of the 6, but modified to deliver more rigidity. The MPS's gearbox will be a close-ratio six-speed manual, with the possibility of a clutchless sequential unit being added at a later date. Mazda has also hinted that an estate version of the newcomer could be in the pipeline - although if the load-lugger does get the green light, it isn't expected to appear before 2006. But the best news for performance car fans is the price - even though the MPS will have more power than class rivals, the company says the car will be available for well below
  12. Hi all, Just wondering if anyone knows where I can find aftermarket shock absorber for Mazda 323? The original spare part shops don't carry gas shocks. They only have the hydraulic ones which spoils easily. My mileage is 60,000KM and it's spoilt liao. I've checked KYB singapore dealers and they do carry it in Singapore, but strangely, I can't find it in their malaysian dealers. Any other alternatives anyone would suggest or recommend? Maybe I'll check out Monroe later..... Unfortunately, this part is too big, otherwise, I'll bring it to msia for replacement. Coz if the msian customs see it, they'll surely want to tax me on it. Thanks

  18. Just 1 hour ago, news stated that Honda and Mazda cars are being recalled for retrofitting for defects. Here is the report:: TOKYO - Japanese automakers Honda and Mazda said on Thursday they will recall for free repairs a total of 861,000 cars they have sold at home and abroad. Honda Motor Co Ltd notified the transport ministry it will recall 847,000 units of six models -- the Civic, Ferio, Hybrid, Fit, Stepwagon and Stream -- which were built between August 2000 and December 2001, a company spokesman said. Honda will fix a fault in the switch controlling the front headlights at a total cost of 5.77 billion yen (S$90 million), she said. The global total includes 190,424 units sold in Japan, which will cost 1.23 billion yen to recall and fix, she added. Separately Mazda Motor Corp said it will recall 6,559 RX-8 cars sold in Japan because of two defects. The company had identified a problem with the car's manual transmission system that can make a heat shield plate crack or come loose, and a defective shock absorber in the front wheels that can make components come loose while driving, a Mazda spokesman said. The recall will also affect roughly another 7,500 of the exported cars, bringing the worldwide total to about 14,000 units, he said. The recall covers vehicles made between February and August last year and this March. The spokesman could not say how much the recall would cost. Meanwhile Honda America will recall 240 Civic GX cars made in the United States between March 2001 and October 2002 to fix a problem with the power steering that might stop the steering wheel turning, according to documents submitted to the ministry.

  23. Hi All, Went car shopping this weekend. Decided to let go of my precious Galant GDI2.0 (Registered in Jan 2002) before it depreciate further Test driven Camry 2.4, Accord 2.4, Cefiro 2.3 and Mazda 2.3 and after a night of consideration, me and my wife have narrowed to 2 choices, Pros and Cons are as follows, Accord 2.4 Pros 1.Established Name - Better Resale Value 2.Most cost effective, Price 103500, OMV 27000, Depre only Approx 8500/yr 3.Very comfy ride, very spacious interiors, pretty luxurious interior (nice dash board) in our opinion. 4. Low installment and loan interests ($959/mth at 2.3% for 10yrs) Cons 1.Agent's car dealer is only willing to take in my car at $61K Max, needs to top up 1+K to square off the loan. 2.Pretty basic accessories and fit up (no fog lamps, basic 16" Alloy Rims with 'thick' tyres Don't really like the 'fake wood plastic trimmings' - very dated leh 3.Made in Thailand. Not too sure whether it will retain its value. 4. Higher Road Tax and Insurance Coverage. Only in house allowed 5. 3yrs penalty period imposed by the bank 6. No free servicing at all. Need to pay labour charge even for the 1st 1K service Mazda 6 (2.3) Pros 1. Stylish Design. Come with full body kit (in-fact we ask the SE not give us the back spoiler but she say no discount...), Fog Lamps, 17" Sports Rims, Sun Roof 2. Great ride, lively response fun to drive 3.Nice and modern interior with a clean and informative dash board lay out. Cruise Control and Traction Control are standard 4.SE's car dealer is willing to take back my car and sq the current loan 5.Lower Insurance coverage, road tax and shorter tie down period (only 1 year) Cons. 1.Low OMV (only $23,500) and high sale price $108988. Depre is $9300/yr 2.Most people we spoke to thinks Mazda's branding does not command good resale value 3.For such a modern car, its key and security lock system not integrated, need to carry a separate remote control. No pneumatic level for the front bonnet. From the above, you will see that if just go by heart I will go for the Mazda6 but to be financially correct, I should take the Accord... Help...
  24. Hi all I just saw the Mazda 3's at Suntec. Wow! Suddenly I don't want to buy a 2nd hand car anymore. Must say it looks incredible from front, back and side. Go take a look.
  25. Read in Life! section yesterday that the 1.5 M2 has 109bhp but the 1.6 M3 has 107bhp only! Was that a misprint? Or if true, why so? Appreciate any thoughts.
