  5. http://www.channel4.co.uk/apps26/4car/jsp/...lnk=211&id=5636 30/5/2003 Mazda has issued a worldwide recall to fix defective fog lamps, which have faulty wiring and could catch fire. More than 174,000 vehicles are affected worldwide, including 78,500 in Japan, though no accidents resulting from this problem have been reported. Cars affected are Mazda 6 models built between March 2002 and May 2003, MX-5 roadsters built between December 1997 and February 2003 (also known as the Miata or Eunos), and the MPV, built between May 1999 and February 2003. The 6 is also being investigated for a potentially faulty brake oil-tank sensor, which could fail to illuminate the low-oil warning light. Owners are advised to contact Mazda Customer Services for more information.

  8. http://www.supercars.net/PicFetch?pic=2003_mazda_washu-1.jpg http://www.supercars.net/PicFetch?pic=2003_mazda_washu-2.jpg http://www.supercars.net/PicFetch?pic=2003_mazda_washu-3.jpg The Mazda Washu is an innovative six-seat concept that presents a new genre of vehicles. It is well proportioned and features Mazda's product DNA in every aspect of the vehicle. Low and sleek, the six-seat concept also works to tear down the barriers that traditionally separate sports cars and family cars. Just as the all-new 2003 Mazda RX-8 is a unique approach to the four-seat performance car, the new Washu concept is an innovative approach to a six-seat configuration. Modern proportions combined with the wide, low-slung layout are applied to the exterior. The beltline extends slightly outward to provide a sense of enhanced interior spaciousness, while the glass area is maximized by reaching upward to the roof to provide an open, airy feeling in the cabin. The roof also incorporates extensive glass area to further enhance the spacious feeling. The exterior design has been evolved through an elimination of side mirrors and the use of sleek LED headlamps. In addition, the LED headlamps are equipped with an Automatic Focusing System (AFS) linked to the vehicle's steering mechanism. This system enhances visibility while cornering at night by adjusting the direction of the light as the vehicles steers through a corner. The airplane doors first open outward and then slide rearward. With the sliding door fully extended, the doors provide an opening that measures 1,100mm across, with an additional 400-mm opening in the roof section. This allows passengers to enter the vehicle in an almost upright position, making it dramatically easier. The Washu concept benefits from a low, flat floor and long wheelbase, both of which help to maximize interior space. The seats in the Washu are captain's chairs and can be arranged in a flexible manner to accommodate a variety of passenger and cargo-carrying chores. The middle pair of seats is electrically powered and can be independently moved fore-and-aft a full 645mm. The seats can also slide to the side to allow easier access to the rearmost seats. Eliminating the need for a traditional steering shaft, steer-by-wire technology also makes it possible to neatly store the steering wheel inside the instrument panel when the vehicle is parked. Further, the adjustable instrument panel makes access to the front of the car more convenient, as it can be moved upward a full 300mm - and steering wheel stowed - making getting in or out of the front seats particularly easy. In addition to this, from the stowed position, an ID card is used to automatically deploy the instrument panel and steering wheel into the driving position. Features at a glance: -Roof with LCD*3 dimmer glass that can be switched electrically between transparent and non-transparent states. -LCD Multi-Information display that controls driving information services. -Video monitors mounted on the sides of the front doors (in place of traditional side mirrors) and on the rear gate, allowing the driver to monitor all angles of the vehicle. -Climate control system without traditional air conditioning and heating nozzles. -Large, 15-inch DVD screen mounted in the ceiling of the rear seat to enable video playback of DVD movies. -The Mazda Washu is equipped with an electrical parking brake system. Pressing the brake pedal when the car is stopped automatically engages the parking brake, and pressing the accelerator automatically disengages it. Story by Mazda Motor Corp

  13. http://business-times.asia1.com.sg/motor/s...6,63175,00.html? The joys of six CHRISTOPHER TAN discovers earthly pleasures in the 2.3-litre Mazda 6 not found in its slightly less-endowed twin SMALL things often make a big difference. Take away Cindy Crawford's mole and she becomes just another pretty face. Give Rod Stewart a lozenge and no one will recognise him on the phone. One lil' tadpole slips through that prophylactic and you got to start saving for college education. The same is frequently true for cars. BMW's 318 is an excellent example. The most recent car is as different from the launch version as chalk is from cheese. The Mazda 6 is yet another proof. The distributor has just brought in the 2.3-litre model, and it's a marked improvement over the two-litre introduced in June. The equipment list has enough additions to almost make it an entirely new model. It boasts factory-fitted leather upholstery, six airbags (including curtain-type side airbags), a Bose sound system, 17-inch wheels, sporty body kit with integrated fog lamp, sunroof, automatic aircon, and electrically adjustable driver's seat. Just a glance will tell that the 2.3 is better dressed and better equipped. Frills aside, the slightly bigger engine makes for an enormous improvement in performance and driveability. The 2.3-litre 16-valve double-overhead cam power plant has that variable valve-timing technology so in vogue. It packs 166 horsepower and 207 newton-metre of torque, enabling the car to achieve a claimed 7.3-second 0-100 kmh sprint - more than two seconds faster than the two-litre 6, and even beating a BMW 3-series of the same capacity. Its superiority is apparent in overtaking manoeuvres, too. With close to 120 horses per tonne of body weight, the 6 is responsive at both city and highway speeds. And because it is lighter than most Continental contenders, its all-round disc brakes (with electronic brake-force distribution) work more effectively in bringing the car to a halt. It takes 37 metres to stop from 100 kmh - beating several branded names of the same size. Torque is available across a wide power band, making the 2.3-litre 6 one of the sweetest pieces of machinery with four doors. The quietness of the engine is surprising, too. At idling, it is Lexus-like. The power is transmitted to the wheels via a new five-speed autobox with manual option. This allows a sporty driving fashion without the need for a clutch pedal. But unlike most versions, the one in the Mazda does not have an engine over-rev protection programme. The suspension is a tad firmer, but the car, in fact, rides more comfortably than the two-litre model. The cherry on the icing is a set of steering-mounted controls laid out in one of the most friendly fashions. Among these are buttons for the cruise-control. The car moves with the same confidence of the equally-rigid two-litre, and the surefootedness of a wide-tracked vehicle with larger wheels. It has that level of straight-line stability that affords the most casual driving stance, even at higher speeds. The 2.3, of course, has significantly more verve and a more-than-adequate reserve. The only frustration is not being able to put this to good use here without risking the validity of your driving licence. Like the two-litre, the bigger-capacity 6 has generous interior space. Shoulder and hip room in the back row is comparable to that found in some luxury choices. Alas, the 2.3 and two-litre also share one common shortcoming - a wider-than-expected turning circle. This is most obvious when in reverse. But without a doubt, it remains an excellent choice for those in search of something different in the Japanese Category B segment. While it isn't the largest in dimensions, it certainly offers a more entertaining drive than any compatriot here. In matching more expensive branded rivals, it certainly succeeds where the two-litre has failed. Mazda 6 2.3: 166 hp/6,500 rpm; 207 nm/4,000 rpm; 0-100 kmh in 7.3 secs; 220 kmh top speed. Available at Mazda Singapore from Nov 16. Car can be viewed at Singapore Motor Show from Nov 14.
  14. Read about it in the latest copy of Autocar.. With a turbocharged 280bhp engine and all-wheel- drive transmission, this car is certain to give added 6-appeal to Mazda's Paris Motor Show stand. Here is the first official image of the Mazda 6 MPS, which Auto Express revealed in Issue 708. Set to rival the Subaru Impreza Turbo and Mitsubishi Evo VII, the newcomer is easily distinguishable from lesser Mazdas. As well as the impressive power figure, the car develops 360Nm of torque and complies with stringent Euro IV exhaust emissions regulations. MPS stands for Mazda Performance Series, the company's tuning division. Featuring a bigger front bumper and subtle rear spoiler, the 6 MPS will make its debut at the show in a fortnight's time. The front radiator grille is modelled on the unit featured on the innovative new RX-8 coup
  15. I'm getting a new mazda 323 in a week or 2 and would like to see how I can upgrade my car audio. I definitely need a MP3 player and would like to see how I can make the speaker system better with my limited budget. The mazda comes stock with a Kenwood HU with a 10 disc CD Changer in the trunk. The mazda audio contractor has offered the kenwood 7020 for $400 with a $100 trade in. But I shopped around and liked the 838 which they don't have, but they suggested the 828 instead, which seems too expensive for the budget. What can I do.. how good are the HU if I don't get an amp? I can probably spend another $200-$500 for the speaker/amp system. Question is, do I need an additional amp with the HU I'm getting? I don't need to blast music, just good sound (ok.. relatively). Given that I can only either upgrade speaker OR get an amp, what should I get? Pardon me... I'm an ICE newbie...
  16. Anyone interested in the car, pls feel free to post a msg to me...any successful referrals and we split the cost of commission right in the middle?
