A few days ago a 20-year-old dude was chasing ppl with chopper. Today a 21yo was found dead in water (maybe suicide?) One wanted to take people's lives, the other (possibly) took his own life. And limpeh thought 20's is the time when one is full of energy, ideal, and ambition to conquer the world! Sigh...

  3. SINGAPORE - Las Vegas Sands (LVS) said its US$3.3 billion (S$4.45 billion) expansion of Marina Bay Sands (MBS) is on track to complete in 2026, a year after its 2025 deadline, as the casino giant bets on a recovery in tourism. At the US company's 2021 fourth quarter results briefing on Wednesday (Jan 26), LVS chairman and chief executive Robert Goldstein also said that renovation work totalling US$1 billion (S$1.35 billion) at MBS' hotel properties is under way. The update comes after Minister of State for Trade and Industry Alvin Tan noted in Parliament on Jan 10 that the extent of delays to the expansion of Singapore's two integrated resorts (IRs) remains unclear. Mr Tan said MBS and Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) had both flagged potential delays due to disruptions to the construction industry as a result of the pandemic. In its third quarter results briefing last year, LVS had stated that its target for completion of the MBS expansion was 2025. This is now on track for 2026, according to LVS. In spite of labour and supply chain risks, images show that construction at MBS has been "moving at a very good pace", Mr Goldstein said. The two IRs had announced expansion plans totalling $9 billion in 2019. These include adding a fourth tower consisting of a 1,000-room luxury hotel and a 15,000 -seat entertainment arena to the MBS development. Rival RWS will add two new zones to Universal Studios Singapore - Minion Park and Super Nintendo World - as well as a new oceanarium. The US$1 billion MBS renovation project, which will bring "luxurious (hotel) suite products" to Towers One and Two, will "significantly enhance our appeal to premium clients", Mr Goldstein said. These upgrades are expected to be completed in phases between this year and next. LVS chief operating officer Patrick Dumont added that the company has been working with the Singapore Tourism Board on its focus on high quality tourism. "We think MBS is leader in that area and want to reinvest in the property while we have some downtime." The developments also underscore a growing confidence of a pickup in Singapore tourism from this year onwards as travel impediments and other Covid-19 restrictions are relaxed. Mr Goldstein said the group is hopeful of "a big bounce" in demand once vaccinated travel lanes (VTLs) are "fully open". He noted that the increase in non-Singaporean visitors to MBS was "evident" after VTLs between the Republic and countries like Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and South Korea were launched in November and December last year. In a Jan 27 report, analysts Vincent Khoo and Jack Goh of brokerage UOB Kay Hian noted that VTLs to and from Singapore will allow its gaming industry "to see meaningful international footfall recovery, which will subsequently lift its gross gaming revenue prospects". During the fourth quarter of last year, MBS' adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) rose 23 per cent year on year to US$177 million. This was achieved on revenues of US$368 million, up 6.7 per cent in the same period. UOB Kay Hian is expecting a "similarly solid quarter" from Genting Singapore, which owns RWS, when the company announces its results on Feb 17.
  4. *Disclaimer: The conversation below is satire, written for entertainment purposes only.* Here's how it all went down: What happened? A ComfortDelGro taxi was spotted driving on the pavement in the vicinity of MBS and the ArtScience Museum. This puzzling incident drew the attention of many onlookers, who were curiously staring at the taxi as he navigated his way around the area. WHUTTTT... Taxi drivers may have developed a notorious reputation for being improper and reckless road users over the years. This incident has just added one more to this list – RIDICULOUS. Seriously though. No matter how bad of a driver one is, how on Earth can someone even end up driving along the pavement outside of a shopping mall/Museum??? Is this a case of GPS misguidance, or did the taxi driver happen to navigate his way up the pavement after getting lost? I guess this incident unveils a flaw in MBS' signage and security framework. Netizens' Comments What a bunch of savage comments, the person filming wasn't spared either. I LOL-ED at this comment. If you didn't get it, its related to the cycling craze where people started "drawing" animals on Strava (GPS-based Application) as they cycled around Singapore. Maybe can consider upgrading to the Hyundai Kona Electric SUV – Off-road capability + Reduced carbon emissions. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 5. Every Singaporean aged 18 and above in 2020 is set to receive S$100 worth of SingapoRediscovers vouchers, which can be used on staycations, attraction tickets and tours. The vouchers can be used between December this year and the end of June next year. The SingapoRediscovers vouchers for tourist attractions, tours and hotel bookings will be given out via SingPass. Every Singaporean aged 18 and above in 2020 is set to receive S$100 worth of SingapoRediscovers vouchers, which can be used on staycations, attraction tickets and tours. The vouchers can be used between December this year and the end of June next year. A S$10 subsidy will also be provided for children and youth tickets for attractions and tours, said the STB. Each adult may purchase up to six children or youth tickets at subsidised prices during the duration of the scheme. Announcing the details on Wednesday (Sep 16), Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing said the move will help the local tourism industry, which has been battered by the COVID-19. “This is not a social assistance scheme. This is an economic scheme to help our tourist attractions to preserve their capabilities that have been built up over the years, while they consolidate capacity in the interim,” Mr Chan told reporters at the Jurong Bird Park. The vouchers will be provided in denominations of S$10 via SingPass, and may be used to purchase tickets for attractions and tours, and accommodation bookings at licensed hotels, said the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) in a separate fact sheet on Wednesday. More details on the redemption mechanism will be announced in November. STB will be calling a tender to appoint the platform providers for the redemption of the vouchers, said chief executive Keith Tan. Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat announced in August that the Government would give out S$320 million worth of vouchers to encourage Singaporeans to support local tourism businesses. The scheme will complement the ongoing SingapoRediscovers campaign launched in July, said the STB. More than 200 deals and bundled packages have been launched “to encourage locals to explore different precincts and aspects of life of Singapore”, the STB said. The vouchers will provide more encouragement for Singaporeans to do so, it added. All licensed hotels, tourist attractions and tours that have been approved by the STB to operate or reopen can benefit from this scheme. "We're working out the economic impact now, but certainly we do expect a return, not necessarily to the Government but obviously to the merchants. From the response we've seen so far, even from the initial SingapoRediscovers campaign, the merchants have responded very positively," said Mr Tan. "There is clearly a sense that they are responding, and the reason why they're responding is that they must see there is commercial return of interest and return of benefits to them," Mr Tan added. Mr Chan said he expects merchants to benefit from a "multiplier effect". “We’ll expect a certain multiplier effect because when people come here, they will also spend on other things ... So for example, they can use this to pay off the tickets or defer the cost of the tickets for coming in. But when they come in, they will spend on some of the F&B and other services that the attractions, hotels or the tours provide," said Mr Chan. “We think that there will be a catalytic effect. As to the exact extent of the catalytic effect, it will be hard to predict at this point in time, but we hope that is at least a few times what we have provided for in the Budget,” he added. Responding to questions on why the vouchers may not be used for F&B and retail purchases, Mr Chan said: "It's a balance between which sector we want to target, and also the simplicity in the administration so that people who (have) the vouchers can actually use it in a most convenient way. That's how we have designed the system." Thanking tourist attractions for “putting in an effort” to put safe management measures in place amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Mr Chan said: “The other thing that they have done very well over the last few months or so was to help us work out the arrangement to have safe cohorting for the live performances.” From Sep 18, attractions that have received approval to resume operations can apply to the STB to increase their operating capacity from 25 per cent to 50 per cent, subject to approval from the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Attractions can also apply to increase the capacity of their number of outdoor shows to five zones, with 50 people in one zone, subject to safe management measures. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/business/singaporediscovers-tourism-vouchers-chan-chun-sing-covid-19-13115702 in before haters gonna hate n negative comments as highlighted its an economic scheme meant to help the tourism sector with many livelihoods at stakes do our part or jus dont use the vouchers lor why need to kpkb so much so many negative comments on fb from ppl who dont get the whole point behind the tourism vouchers there r many ppl struggling out there n wud prefer more social assistance schemes to tide them thru n so may not understand these vouchers are targeted to help those in the tourism biz to secure their jobs n prevent the tourism n sector industry from collapsing with our borders closed to tourism now n in the near future even locals spending may not be of much help but can help jiu help? for those who still have jobs n wanna bring ur kids out. bt maybe shd have given to those under 18 toooo la
  6. The retail store is a “first of its kind” all-glass dome structure and boasts Apple's first underwater boardroom. And its architecture was partly inspired by Rome's Pantheon. When Apple Marina Bay Sands opens its doors to the public on Thursday (Sep 10), it will be the world’s first Apple store to sit directly on the water – an eye-catching spherical structure that will boast an uninterrupted 360-degree panoramic view of Singapore’s skyline. It’s an architectural treat of sorts – the dome was inspired by Rome's Pantheon, for one. And according to Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president for retail and people, this “first of its kind” all-glass dome structure comprises 114 pieces of glass, with only 10 narrow vertical mullions serving as a structural connection. But more than just bragging rights for local fanboys and fangirls, Apple’s decision to to do it here is an affirmation of the tech giant’s affinity for Singapore. “We're here for the long term in Singapore,” O’Brien said in an exclusive interview with CNA Lifestyle. “We couldn't be more excited to open the breathtaking Apple Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, building on our commitment to this special place that began over 40 years ago”. It is Singapore's third Apple Store, after the first one opened its doors along Orchard Road in 2017 and its most recent one at Jewel Changi Airport. It’s also Apple's 512th retail shop. Apple’s history in Singapore began with the tech giant’s first corporate office in Ang Mo Kio 40 years ago – and there’s a fun fact that comes with that. In 1981, the team was responsible for producing the majority of printed circuit boards for Apple II computers worldwide. Since then, Apple has expanded across the corporate and retail side, and is now responsible for 55,000 jobs in Singapore, between Apple and the Apple ecosystem. For those who keep count, Apple Marina Bay Sands will be staffed with 148 employees who collectively speak over 23 languages. When asked why open this particularly designed store here, O'Brien said: "When we were looking for another opportunity in Singapore. This one was just really was quite intriguing. And when we really understood the opportunities that this location could provide, giving us the opportunity to do something really neat and interesting and different." So what’s the interior like? Aside from the oculus at the top of the dome, which allows light to come in, the interior of the glass is lined with custom baffles, which are shaped to counter the daytime glare and provide a night-time lighting effect. There are also 10 trees along the perimeter, providing additional shading and soft shadows through the foliage. The Forum is centered around the video wall, which will serve as the stage for Singapore’s musicians and creatives. In addition to free future Today At Apple sessions hosted by Apple creatives. Entrepreneurs and developers who are interested in receiving training and advice can meet with Apple team members in the company’s first underwater Boardroom, located on the first basement of the store. Given the current global pandemic, Apple Marina Bay Sands will still be implementing the same rigorous health and safety measures for both employees and visitors and across all Apple retail locations including a mask requirement, temperature checks and social distancing. Visits to Apple Marina Bay Sands on opening day will be by appointment only, while walk-ins will be allowed from Friday onwards. Customers can visit https://www.apple.com/Singapore/marinbaysands for available times.
  7. oddly familiar!!! but as we all know, thats how china culture is. just like how they have the cities of replicas. they have replica of paris, london.. and now our famed mbs spaceship. but instead of 3 towers like ours, they have 4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=emqK3wasEX8 The megacity of Chongqing has added yet another extraordinary piece of architecture to its city skyline with a massive “sky corridor” that stretches across the top of four neighboring skyscrapers. Placed 250 meters above the ground, the 300-meter-long corridor is the most eye-catching part of the Raffles City Chongqing complex that is currently under construction at the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers. The complex has been designed by renowned Italian-Canadian architect Moshe Safdie who is also known for doing something similar with the design of the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. Once it’s completed, the corridor will serve as a viewing deck while also boasting an infinity pool, sky gardens, and various eateries.
