  2. And a convertible version? Not bad looking. Gonna be really expensive though. Perhaps late 2007.

    FMJ Merc S280

Hi guys, I don't post much but just wanted to post this to further encourage light coloured car owners into detailing. Been hearing alot of frens owning light coloured cars not wanting to spend the time at detailing. So you might call this a post to vent. This is my dad's 2000 Merc S280, paint is not CeramiClear. They announced the paint months after my dad got the car. Colour is "Chardonnay Blue". Washed & clayed last evening, polished and sealed this morning with Bosch PEX400AE. Had gone over it with Meg's DACP some time back but didn't have time to follow up with a finer polish. So this is the follow up detail. Process: 1. Wash & spot clayed. 2. FPII with polishing pad. 3. FMJx1 by hand. 4. Tires got Autoglym Bumper Care Tried taking some before pics but camera couldn't show much. So here are the afters. Front Hood Left Rear Left Roof Rear Right Regards Ic3nCok3
  4. Put the merc SL55 amg into Henry Fisker's hand, and you get this fiesty 5.5l beast that leaps to 100km/h in 3.6 seconds. The SL55's body panels are replaced with carbon fiber ones, its front gets a facelift with a fighter jet-inspired grille and LEDs, and its engine gets beefed up to more than 600 horsepower. Not to mention, you get the prestigious Fisker badges on the hood and trunk lid. official site: http://www.fiskercb.com my opinion? Clumsy pieced together to give it an aston martin feel.
  5. Just when we thought the new series of V6 from Merc (M272) is such a great improvement over the old 3 valves/cylinder V6, they come up with a CGI version that upped the power of the CLS350 from 272 bhp to 292 hp, with lots of usable torque and very good FC! Also, torque of 310Nm at 1.5K rpm and peak of 365Nm from 3K rpm! Wow! Can't wait to see this new engine. I suspect it'll probably be launched in the E Class with the E Class Facelift end of this year. http://www.worldcarfans.com/news.cfm/count...-world-premiere BTW, tested the E280 (M272 V6 3L 231 bhp). Power delivery is very smooth, and the engine is rev happy whilst sounding nice and sweet. Fits well with the 7 G-Tronic.
  6. Just dropped by the new Merc Centre - amazing 3 storeys. 1st level: E, A, C Class with nice Cafe (good finger food served ) 2nd level: Roadsters SLK, CLK, S, CLS, F1 simulator etc 3rd level: SLK AMG Rally Safety Vehicle (CF top), DTM, Maybach lounge Very nice presentation and facilities. Talked to their marketing manager, hoping they'll use the facility for more owners' events like defensive driving, tech updates etc. The best local Car Centre around, IMO.

    Merc S65 AMG

We're all expecting the new Merc S-Class to arrive in 2006. But even before the 2006 S-Class sets foot on our shores, the engineers at Merc's performance arm, AMG, have come up with a 612 horsepower 6.0litre V12 Mercedes S65 AMG. That's blitzing a Lambo Gallardo and several Ferraris if not all (except for the enzo) - in terms of BHP alone lah. It goes from naught to 100km/h in just 4.4 seconds. Top speed of an electronically limited 250km/h. 612BHP ok! 612!!! in a four-door car that seats five big people comfortably, and with space for more than two golf bags.
  8. Just heard they're making their own pulley (similar to Carlsson) kit for the 1.8L M271 Kompressor engine, likely due end of Dec. Couple that with Brabus tuning, and we should have a sweet performance upgrade for the C200K, E200K, SLK200, CLK200 series. I'm waiting to see how this turn out. Anyone else tuned your rides at MBM Wheelpower?
  9. I know, I know, we tend to hit on the dealership, but I must say I've been quite pleased with the service from C&C thus far. Recently, I encountered 3 minor faults. The display on my Audio 20 would dim, the "infamous" musty air con smell, and the reverse mirror calibration seemed out of whack after a while. The female service executive was careful and thorough. A software firmware update solved the mirror calibration issue, and the entire head unit for my Audio 20 was changed to a new one without question. As for the air con, she explained some cars may have fungi growth due to condensation not draining when shipping long distance. She explained some customers had the problem solved by cleaning and spraying an anti fungal treatment. We tried that, the problem eased, but there was still some remnants. She then recommended a complete condenser coil change, which required a dashboard dismantle to reach. Car was sent in for 3-4 days when I was overseas, and now, the car is back, even better than new. I can smell the freshness from the air con. Overall, I think they're serious about improving their rep in servicing clients, especially the lady exec who attended to my case.
  10. Anyone have any clues or advice on where is the best place to get diecast for Mercedes Benz SLK? Please assist, thank you so much in advance ;o) tried Nikko @ Suntec but they dont have it ;o(
  11. See the difference The Kleemann Pulley/K-Box performance kit does to Merc's M271 engine (current 1.8 l Kompressor used in C180K, C200K, C230K and E200K). 12. I've been toying with the idea of getting an old Merc 200E or 190E for quite sometime now. Maybe the bros and sistas here can offer some advice, especially those who have owned these old beauties. DepreciationBrowsed thru' some classified ads recently, think the dep is between 4~6k a year rite? This is lesser than the dep of my City, if I were to let go now....easily lost 7~8k a year InsuranceHow much do you think I have to pay for the 3rd party insurance? MaintenanceIs this going to be extremely high? Are spares easy to get? If spares are easy to get and cheap, I will prob DIY for most of the repairs that I am able to with tools available in my storeroom. Fuel ConsumptionHeard it's around 8km/l? Can take 95RON rite? Buying an old merc has always been something I wanted to do. After driving Japs for so many years, kinda a little bit sianz liao.
  13. From previous experience in Hyundai, Nissan etc type of cars, the servicing have always been somewhat like: 1K service - breakin period 5K service - another free service (mineral oil) 10K service - tech advise top up for synthetic oil. Henceforth, every 10K synthetic oil change. But with E200K, it comes with Assyst Plus computer, and it seems it will recommend servicing based on driving profile and conditions of engine. Right now, it is recomending me to service only at around 20K, or another 13K to go now that my mileage is 7K. From other forums, they stated Assyst Plus will also prompt for service based on dates, i.e. before 1 yr interval is up if mileage is too low. Interesting... What's your experience for Conti cars like Mercs, BMWs etc?
  14. Wow, MB been very busy. Launch of A, M Class and the excellent CLS recently, and now B and R Class... Think if priced nicely, the B Class could be popular here, and R would offer a very interesting alternative to the MPV market, infusing it with sedan like looks and MPV carrying capacity. 15. Hi there, 1. I read from another thread that Toyota Altis was described as a poor man Merc, do you think this is an over or under statement? 2. If Altis is a poor man Merc, Honda will be the poor man BMW. Regards,
  16. http://www.mbdoctor.com/ This guy is amazing. Offers original Europe style Merc Command Unit to enable playing of DVD, MP3, and even rear cam etc. How I wish we have such pro's over here! Seems the E is offered here with boring Audio20 only. Why can't we have the Command option with DVD, sat navigation, MP3 and others? C&C should be a bit more adventurous and offer more options for us. Check out the gallery as well at the linked website. Amazing. HU playing DVD: HU playing MP3 with id Tag HU fully integrated with computer display and steering wheel:

  18. Just like to share with every one. Around 3.00pm while i was exiting ECP along bedok, i was behine this joker Merc guy keep filtering lane without singaling, When we were turning left towards the old Temasks Sec, I over took him and took the chance and filter to his lane without singaling. Guess what, he speed up and try to tail my back, but my little VTI did not disappoint me by pulling ahead of him. At the traffic light beside Temasks Sec the give mi the F face, i wanted to ask him how the feel when i cut his lane without signaling so i row down my windiow and guess what he quick act blur and turn the other way. 19. The Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG: thoroughbred race-track technology for the road Mercedes-Benz has issued the following press release: With its combination of state-of-the-art motorsport technology, driving dynamics more familiar from the race-track, captivating styling features and unrivalled exclusivity, the new Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG will set the pulses of car enthusiasts racing that much faster. Limited to a production run of only 100 units, this two-door masterpiece combines an AMG 5.5-litre V8 supercharged engine developing 428 kW/582 hp, a newly developed chassis, optionally available sports tyres and aerodynamics optimised in the wind tunnel to deliver a truly exceptional high-performance experience. The AMG thoroughbred accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds, and on to an electronically governed maximum speed of 320 km/h. The template for the development of the new CLK DTM AMG was the racing version of the Mercedes-Benz CLK, which Bernd Schneider drove to overall victory in the 2003 German Touring Car Masters (DTM) race series and which finished the season as the most successful model in the championship. The fixtures and fittings of the CLK DTM AMG also take their cue from its race-track sibling. Two leather-trimmed AMG sports bucket seats with four-point safety belts ensure unbeatable lateral support, whilst the oval AMG racing steering wheel with suede covering and new AMG instrument cluster with 360 km/h speedometer dial bring extra touches of motor racing allure to the interior. The first examples of the 100-unit limited-edition series will be delivered to customers from autumn 2004. You need look no further than the exterior design of the new CLK DTM AMG to find the first traces of its racing pedigree, the transfer of high-end motorsport technology to the road given visual expression by the low slung front apron with large cooling air inlets, striking fender flarings, 19 and 20-inch AMG light-alloy wheels and the diffusor-look rear section with rear wing, all of which recall the head-turning muscularity of the successful CLK racing touring cars competing in the DTM. Added to which, a host of body components have been constructed from the high-strength and ex-tremely lightweight carbon-fibre-reinforced material CFRP. Under the bonnet lurks a specially revised version of the AMG supercharged eight-cylinder engine familiar from the SL 55 AMG, featuring modifications to the crank-case, pistons, valve train, cooling system, intake duct, supercharger and exhaust system. The AMG V8 engine develops 428 kW/582 hp at 6100 rpm from its 5439-cc displacement, with peak torque of 800 Newton metres available from 3500 rpm. Performance comparable with a super sports car Boasting instant accelerator response, impressive torque development, free-revving vivacity and an unmistakeable V8 soundtrack, the wonderfully powerful AMG 5.5-litre supercharged V8 at the heart of the CLK DTM AMG was born to deliver performance characteristics normally the preserve of super sports cars. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h vanishes in only 3.9 seconds on the way to an electronically governed maximum speed of 320 km/h. The AMG SPEEDSHIFT five-speed automatic transmission injects further doses of motor-racing magic into the new arrival. The driver changes gear with a short dab of the steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles, the amazingly short shift times pushing back the boundaries of sporty driving and dynamic feel. Newly developed spring and shock absorber units with adjustable coil springs, plus a locking differential on the rear axle The chassis, meanwhile, is a more than worthy complement to the beguiling muscle of the powertrain. Already a firm fixture on the race-track, height-adjustable spring and shock absorber units with adjustable coil springs are also an integral feature of the new road car. The rear axle has been redesigned to include totally new spring links and hub carriers, as well as reinforced drive shafts. Uniball joints on both axles replace rubber elements and imbue the car
  20. The new-generation C-Class from spring 2004 - Even more dynamism, quality and modern appeal: fresh impetus from the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Mercedes-Benz has issued the following press release: Four years after launch, Mercedes-Benz is significantly enhancing the technology, equipment and design of the successful C-Class. The newly sports-tuned chassis, steering and six-speed manual transmission make the C-Class an even more agile performer. From spring 2004, a four-cylinder powerplant with compressor supercharger and an output of 141 kW/192 hp will be added to the engine line-up for the Saloon and Estate models. The C 220 CDI will develop 110 kW/150 hp, thus making it 5 kW/7 hp more powerful than its predecessor, whilst the new C 55 AMG developing 270 kW/367 hp is the first car in this Mercedes-Benz model series to feature an eight-cylinder engine. The C-Class interior is enhanced further by a new cockpit design featuring exceptionally well designed controls and the THERMATIC automatic climate control system, which comes as standard. Also standard is the new paint which is based on nano-particle technology and offers greater scratch resistance. Optional hitech equipment includes bi-xenon headlamps with cornering light function, steering-wheel gearshift buttons for the automatic transmission and a new range of audio/navigation systems. Available in Saloon, Estate or Sports Coup
  21. Mercedes SLR There's a heat haze blurring the view of the Barcelona test track, but otherwise the circuit ahead is clear, so we risk squeezing the throttle a little further. Up goes the SLR through the first four gears; 100mph, 120, 140 - the 155mph suggested limit comes up in a rush in fourth gear, and we've still got another ratio to use. A red rev-limiter warning light flashes at 7,000rpm, but there is no upshift from the automatic gearbox until the driver says so. Change up and the acceleration is relentless until we run out of nerve - and track space - as we clock 307kph. That's 190mph, and the SLR still had plenty left. Someone braver managed an indicated 212mph today. Until the car's official launch in September, Mercedes' engineers will only say the maximum speed is 'comfortably over 200mph', although a few technical calculations suggest it will be 217mph. There's still some fine-tuning to be done by McLaren on the prototype car we have been invited to drive. What is clear, though, is that the supercharged V8 will broach 600bhp and have 800Nm of torque on hand. Whatever the exact numbers, extreme performance such as this has never been more accessible, and the car's rumoured 3.8-second 0-60mph time is yours with just a flex of the ankle. The SLR has another party trick - an air brake. Just as with the original 1955 Mille Miglia-winning SLR, a rear spoiler pops up to help wipe off velocity. It's not that the carbon-ceramic composite discs need much help, but it transfers downforce to the rear, helping the back brakes contribute to the stopping effort. It does mean the pedal pressures feel a little artificial, but there are still adjustments to make, says the McLaren engineer responsible. Flip-up panels are a bit of a theme on the SLR, as you discover from sitting in the car. With the ignition on, flick up the cover on the gear selector and press the glowing start button. It's like being a fighter pilot launching a missile. As the grumbling monster V8 awakens, it seems as dangerous, too. With the side-exit exhausts growling at lower speeds, the SLR flicks through bends accurately with negligible roll. Apply power, feel the tail twitch and know that all Mercedes' safety systems are there to sort out any problems. With the power building, the SLR understeers gently, so we turn harder and brake in an attempt to upset the balance. But it turns tighter and slows - nothing, it seems, will faze this car. The steering is quick and sharp but sure-footed, and the SLR can ride over potholes, too - after all, the machine is being developed on the UK's roads. The auto transmission might seem at odds with the performance, but this is a very fast GT, not a supercar racer. Let the Maybach-sourced five-speed box do all the work and it's terrific, but the snags come with the manual override. The finger buttons are awkward to use and you can't perform a throttle blip when changing down. Another disappointment is the interior. The one-piece seats fit smaller drivers perfectly, but taller motorists will crave more space. It doesn't help that, despite the vast bonnet, the engine intrudes into the cabin space in order to give the best weight distribution. Mercedes/McLaren plans to make 500 SLRs a year, if demand is high. With a price tag of around
