  1. This new SL-Class has strong hints of the AMG GT, but better execution overall. Finally the BMW 8 series has a strong competitor... Mercedes-AMG SL 55 4MATIC+ Mercedes-AMG SL 63 4MATIC+ The new Mercedes-AMG SL, the new edition of an icon, returns to its roots with a classic soft top and sporty character. At the same time, the luxurious roadster as a 2+2 seater is particularly suitable for everyday use and puts its power down on the road with all-wheel drive for the first time. High-tech components such as AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension with active anti-roll stabilization, rear-axle steering, and optionally available AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system are available. In combination with the Handcrafted AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine, this results in a driving experience of the highest order. As a consistent Performance Luxury model, Mercedes-AMG in Affalterbach has developed the SL completely independently. Two models with AMG V8 engines will kick off the market launch. Almost 70 years ago, a sports car launched in Stuttgart immediately became a legend. The vision of expanding the potential of the Mercedes-Benz brand through motor racing successes produced the first SL as a result - a road-going racing sports car. Shortly after its debut in 1952, the 300 SL (internal designation W 194) reaped success after success on the race tracks of the world. In its first year, it achieved, among other things, a spectacular one-two victory in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans and even took the first four places in the Nürburgring Grand Jubilee Prize for sports cars. Its successes quickly make the SL a legend. The successful racing car was followed in 1954 by the 300 SL production sports car (W 198), which is called the "Gullwing" because of its unusual doors. In 1999, a jury of motoring journalists voted it the "Sports Car of the Century." Other highlights of the model history include the "Pagoda" (W 113, 1963-1971), the evergreen R 107 (1971-1989), which was built for 18 years, and its successor, the R 129, which is considered an automotive sculpture because of its striking wedge shape. The abbreviation "SL" to this day thus stands for one of the few genuine automotive icons in the world. In the decades-long development history from full-blooded racing car to open-top luxury sports car, the new Mercedes-AMG SL now sets another milestone. It combines the sportiness of the original SL with the unique luxury and technological excellence that characterize modern Mercedes models. "The SL is an icon: For almost 70 years, the distinctive sports car has delighted Mercedes customers of every generation around the world. With the rebirth of the roadster from Mercedes-AMG, the new SL more than ever remains the symbol of this timeless fascination," says Britta Seeger, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing and Sales "The new SL combines the sporty genes of the original SL with the driving performance typical of AMG. At the same time, it offers luxury and comfort at the absolute top level. This combination is unique in the sports car segment and is also reflected in the interior - where the highest levels of comfort and quality meet the right helping of sportiness. The high-quality combination of analogue world and state-of-the-art digital equipment makes it clear that the new SL is the rebirth of an icon for the modern era," says Philipp Schiemer, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH "With the new SL, we have created a repositioning of the iconic SL design. The expressively modelled exterior conveys a light and purist impression and brings sensual beauty and extravagant design into perfect harmony," says Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer Daimler Group "We at Mercedes-AMG consider it a great honor to have had the privilege to develop the new edition of this sports car icon. When we were tasked with the overall development of the new SL, we were able to start from scratch without building on an existing structure. We are proud of the result, which once again demonstrates the high level of engineering expertise in Affalterbach. The new 2+2 concept combines agile driving dynamics with a high level of comfort and unrestricted suitability for everyday use," says Jochen Hermann, Chief Technical Officer of Mercedes-AMG GmbH With its exciting design, state-of-the-art technology and outstanding driving characteristics, the new Mercedes-AMG SL sets standards in the luxury sports car segment. The exterior design fascinates with a perfect triad: it combines the modern Mercedes-Benz design philosophy of sensual purity with the sportiness typical of AMG and characteristic details. The two power bulges on the hood are just one of numerous features reminiscent of the first SL generation. The interplay of light and shadow makes the overall appearance visually light and low. It is clear at first glance that the new SL has returned to its sporty roots. In the top model SL 63, the engine develops 577hp and provides a maximum torque of 800Nm over a wide rev range from 2,500 to 4,500 rpm. The roadster's top engine thus conveys effortless superiority in every rev range. The acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in an estimated 3.5 seconds illustrates this. In the Mercedes-AMG SL 55, the V8 engine delivers 469hp and a peak torque of 700Nm. The sprint from standstill to 100 km/h takes 3.8 seconds. The further developed AMG 4.0-liter V8 engine still operates with biturbo charging, in which the two turbochargers are not located on the outside of the cylinder banks, but in between them in the cylinder-V. The advantages of the "hot inside V": a compact engine design, spontaneous response of the turbochargers and low exhaust emissions thanks to optimal airflow to the close-coupled catalysts. @Ody_2004 The VRN for that Red SL 63 is ...
  2. It is not every day you get to see the legendary Mercedes G63 in Singapore. And it is even rarer to see one involved in an accident. Watch it here: What Happened? A Mercedes G63 and a Volkswagen Transporter 'chiong-ed' along Yishun Ave 8 upon the red traffic light signal turning green. Its 4.0-Litre Bi-Turbocharged V8 engine and all-wheel-drive drivetrain instantly picked up speed. Directly behind the G-wagon was the Volkswagen Transporter. Although the specs of the Volkswagen Transporter is not anywhere near the G-wagon, it is still pretty decent (2.0-Litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged paired to a 7-speed DCT transmission). And surprisingly, the Volkswagen Transporter was hot on the G-wagon's heels (Yes, I know. The G63 driver probably did not step hard on the accelerator). As they approached a red light, the G63 driver could not react in time and slammed hard into a stationary Honda Vezel. The impact was forceful enough to push the Honda SUV across the stop line. Some debris were also scattered across the road due to the accident. And yes. Both cars' repair costs are just going to be loose change to the G-wagon driver. Netizens' Comments Its not about the equipment, its about the driver🙂 This is prove that money can't buy skills! Speeding in a G63 is not satki anymore. There's a time and place for everything. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  3. Hi, I'm seeking advise on a situation and if anyone have faced before. I had done the purchase of a 2nd hand car on last Saturday. A GLB premium model as advertised. It is my 2nd time purchasing a pre-owned car since 9 years ago thus not clear on the process. I was short listing a few options and ultimately decided based on the color and flexibility of the dealer. Given the benefits of doubt, I had expected the premium model comes with default premium features. Little did I know that I had to look into the data card, playing with the car system before knowing further into it. After getting the car for the 3rd day, much findings online and researching, I had realized that most of the premium features are missing (probably cost 10-15k to retrofit them) when it is advertised as premium model. The only thing I sees are the outlooks etc that probably shows the vehicle as premium model. If I were to refers to the default premium specs from PI Mercedes brochure vs the advertised premium model. There's more than 5 feature missing. For my case, transfer of ownership has done, downpayment, loan has just crossed. Advertised vs Reality has a xtreme gap. With that said, during my short listing, I thou I would have done it with premium feature enough but instead now, I feels that i had short change and went below 1 level downgrade instead. If I had think right at that moment of time and topup another 8k, I would had been able to get another top premium model with everything in place. Am I still be able to raise my case for refund via consumer rights on cooling period? When all documents are in place consider 2nd working day? Advice needed. Thanks in advance
  4. Source: https://www.motor1.com/news/560074/mercedes-discontinuing-wagons-2030-report/ Well, the future is looking bleak for Mercedes wagons. Where Volvo is determined to keep both wagons and sedans alive, Mercedes is allegedly taking a different route. According to a new Automobilwoche report, the German automaker plans to discontinue offering any wagon in its lineup by the end of the decade. The dominos will start to fall with the CLA Shooting Brake, which will disappear from the Mercedes lineup for the 2025 model year, with no successor planned. A future generation E-Class, which will allegedly arrive in 2030, won’t offer a wagon variant either, according to the report. Mercedes introduced the latest-generation C-Class with a traditional wagon model, also offering a high-riding All-Terrain version that’s only available in Europe, but who knows how long those will survive. The death knell for Mercedes wagons began ringing back in September when company COO Markus Schäfer discussed the dwindling appeal and market for wagons at a time when automakers are also spending billions to transition to electric vehicles. Allocating money to design, develop, and build EVs for a shrinking customer base isn’t easy to justify when customers want electric crossovers and SUVs instead. Automobilwoche’s report notes that the company is considering alternatives to offer these customers, especially to German ones. Mercedes could offer high-riding sedans that can accommodate the batteries in the floor or make a starker distinction between the crossovers and SUVs in its lineup. However, the report doesn’t speculate on what this splitting could entail.
  5. TL:DR – An impatient lorry driver tries to beat the red light at a cross junction but ends up t-boning and wrecking a Mercedes instead. A horrific accident happened earlier today (9th Feb) at 2.23pm at Choa Chu Kang. It could have all been avoided if the lorry driver had shown some patience. Here’s the video: Rekt Not going to go into too many details, but the lorry certainly did a number on the Mercedes. If it were a lighter car, like a Honda Fit for example, it would have been flung down the bridge. How’s the driver? There are no updates about the driver or the occupants of the Mercedes, but we hope everyone’s okay. Patience please? Is it too hard to ask people to have some patience when they drive? If the lorry driver had just waited for a minute or two, this could have all been avoided. Online Chatter Interesting theory. Might be true. Right? I agree. 6. Last week, the viral Bentley driver incident made us wonder about the association between rich people and their obnoxious behaviour. This week, we get a Mercedes driver who possesses similar obnoxious qualities. Watch the video here: What Happened? This road rage-induced incident occurred in the vicinity of private estates at Kovan Road. A Mercedes driver who wanted to turn right into an apartment estate took a grudge against an Audi driver who was going straight and had the right of way. As the Mercedes driver started filling with rage, he alighted from his car to confront the Audi driver while impeding its way. The Mercedes driver started shouting and gesturing wildly to the Audi driver while not wearing any face mask. It can be observed that the Audi driver had wound down the window, most likely to respond to the Mercedes driver's confrontation. Just then, the Mercedes driver took a few steps back as matters seemed to cool down. At the next moment, the Mercedes driver took a gradual leap forward and landed a 'flying punch' right in the Audi driver's face before walking away. NGL, the Audi driver deserves mad respect for doing the right thing by keeping his cool and not retaliating. Living Under A Rock Do you know what grinds my gears? Someone's audacity to think they can get away with it after committing a blatant, unlawful act. The Mercedes driver must be thinking that he still lives in the 1960s when he was 'young and dangerous', before the existence of technology. Well, jokes on him - With the existence of dashcams and social media, his unlawful act will not go unnoticed. Netizens' Comments Tell me about it. Do you know how many videos I have come across that had no head or tail??? Was this what people did back in the day when the yellow box was non-existent? LOL. Bopian, 老 hero needed to compensate for his fragile ego. ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! Simply WhatsApp us ➡️https://bit.ly/3c6JERA
  7. Kudos to the Honda Shuttle for not falling victim to this Mercedes driver’s antics! With 2022 drawing near, this Mercedes driver decides to pull one last trick out of his sleeve to end his year with a bang. In this video, a cam car is driving in the middle lane towards Paya Lebar Road. A silver Honda Shuttle is traveling right in front of him. After both vehicles pass a junction, the Shuttle shifts to the left lane. The Mercedes in front of it quickly mirrors his actions, blocking the silver vehicle. Here's a close up of the action: Determined, the Shuttle quickly merges to the middle lane. However, to the driver’s dismay, the Mercedes manages to copy his actions and shifts to the right as well. The Honda Shuttle immediately hits the brakes to avoid bumping into the Mercedes, narrowly missing the vehicle by a hair’s length. Here's a close up of the action: The cam car slows down and merges to the right lane, where the Mercedes can be seen blocking the Shuttle’s path. What is a brake check? Brake checking is the act of sharply hitting the brakes whilst driving to make an unsuspecting driver behind slam on his brakes or swerve out of the way to avoid an accident. Perpetrators can then make insurance claims against the victim, with the common thought that the insurance companies would fault the victim for not leaving enough space to react or brake in the event of an emergency. In Singapore, brake checking is an offence and anyone who purposefully brake checks will be fined by the TP. Victims can file for insurance claims, no matter what had happened before the brake check. Netizens’ reactions Exactly! No matter what has happened before this incident, there is no excuse for brake checking. It is simply a douche move! 😤 I hope the TP catches this guy before he actually causes an accident. 😭 ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! 8. Just as the joyous festive season kicked in, an unsuspecting accident completely ruined the atmosphere. Watch the spine-chilling accident here: What Happened? The accident occured along the stretch of Tampines Ave 10, close to midnight on 23rd December. A red Mercedes A180 drove from Tampines Ave 1 before negotiating a left turn onto Tampines Ave 10. From the video, it seems like the red Mercedes was travelling at a fast speed when he approached the left turn. Oddly, the Mercedes did not seem to have any intention to negotiate the bend. What puzzled me further was that it seemed to be driving straight into the metal barrier and the vehicles in the opposite direction. As a result, the Mercedes ended up T-boning a white SUV at the red light. There was plenty more collateral after the first point of impact with the white SUV, including a motorcyclist who happened to be lane splitting. The Aftermath In total, four cars, a taxi and one motorcycle were involved in the accident. Unfortunately, one driver succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital, while four other motorists were injured and taken to the hospital. Subsequently, the driver of the red Mercedes was arrested for suspected drink driving. Speeding Apparently, the driver of the red Mercedes was racing another car before the accident occurred. They were caught on dashcam footage as they sped down Tampines Ave 1. Netizens' Comments Dude, the Mercedes driver was arrested for suspected drink driving. Regardless, drivers like him should be off our roads. Yes, totally agreed. NGL, my heart dropped a little while watching the video. My thoughts and prayers go out to those involved in the accident 🙏 ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! Simply WhatsApp us ➡️https://bit.ly/3c6JERA
  9. Not gonna lie; Mercedes does have some sick, sporty-looking instrument clusters in their cars. But don't get me wrong, driving a Mercedes Coupe with a sporty-looking instrument cluster is not equivalent to driving a sports car. Watch this video to find out what I mean by that: What Happened This 15-second video seemed to be originally posted on the Mercedes driver's Instagram story. In the video, the driver performs a "launch control" upon the traffic light turning green. With all the fancy instrument clusters of his car, you would assume that he is driving a Mercedes sports car. But here is the anti-climatic part: It took the driver exactly 11 seconds to get from 0-101km/h. (That is equivalent to a Honda Civic's 0-100km/h timing) I mean, a Honda Vezel Hybrid could probably outrun his Mercedes C180 Coupe in a 0 to 100km/h race EFFORTLESSLY. But do you see Honda Vezel drivers taking video of themselves "launching" their cars? NOPE. Before the video ended, the driver could be seen hitting a speed of 118km/h. License Kantong Already Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and assume the speed limit of that stretch of road is 70km/h; the driver still exceeded the speed limit by 48km/h. Also, don't forget the driver's usage of his mobile phone to capture this priceless moment. According to the Road Traffic Act, exceeding the vehicular speed limit by 41 to 50km/h will result in 12 demerit points and prosecution in court. Furthermore, using a mobile device while driving will result in 12 demerit points and a fine not exceeding $1,000 or imprisonment of up to 6 months or both (1st-time offenders). Well, that is 24 demerit points and a court date just for that 15-second video. The driver's stupidity is pretty darn amazing. Netizens' Comments Straight up facts. I doubt he can take corners and use his phone to film simulateneously🤐 Wah, you didn't have to do him dirty like that. ======== Receive a $10 PayNow transfer for every submission we publish on Facebook! 10. Disclaimer: The use of the word 'ruthlessly' in the title refers to the action of the driver running over the stationary rider and not the driver's intention. We do not assume or imply that the driver intended to cause hurt. Last night (Oct 3), a Mercedes C200 driver caused a major accident along Elias Road, resulting in traffic delays. After watching this clip, I was in shock. To think that someone could simply run over another person without even slowing down sends chills down my spine. Furthermore, it was clear that the lights in the junction had just turned red and that other vehicles were slowing down as they entered. Let's break down what happened in this shocking video. The video starts by showing the camcar and other vehicles slowing down and stopping at a traffic junction. The lights had just turned red, except for those who were intending to turn right. On the left, a Deliveroo rider waits patiently for the light as he watches a couple cross the junction. Just as the couple nearly reaches the other end of the road, a speeding Mercedes C200 ploughs down the rider, which sends him flying off his motorcycle. The couple turns around and looks back in horror as they realised what had just happened. A few minutes later, an ambulance arrives on the scene to rush the food delivery rider and the Mercedes driver to the hospital. There were photographs that showed the amount of damage the car had received from the impact. Netizens' reactions While most sent their well wishes to the food delivery rider, many netizens were upset with the careless actions of the Mercedes driver. We send our well wishes to the Deliveroo rider and hope that he will have a speedy recovery! Hopefully, justice will be served and that the Mercedes driver gets the appropriate punishment for doing something so reckless. ------------ Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 11. Mercedes driver tests the patience of other road users by hogging the extreme right overtaking lane in an underground expressway. Is it just me or are there more and more entitled drivers appearing as the days go by? In this video, a black Mercedes car is seen taking his time as he drives on the extreme right lane - a lane that is intended for the purpose of overtaking other vehicles. While it is hard to notice him at first, the driver continues to maintain his own speed on the lane, which forces a car to squeeze and overtake him on the left instead. As the minutes pass, the driver does not show any sign of leaving the overtaking lane. The camcar tries to alert him by flashing his lights, which causes the black car to slow down tremendously. This scares the camcar driver, and forces him to follow the previous vehicle in overtaking on the left. Is driving at the maximum speed on the right lane considered road hogging? Several netizens have come to the Mercedes driver's aid, stating that he could have been travelling at the legal speed limit on the right lane or that he might have wanted to turn right. However, according to the Highway Code, drivers are to keep to either the left or the center lane on a three-lane carriageway. The extreme right lane is for overtaking only, drivers are not allowed to stay in it longer than necessary after overtaking vehicles in the middle lane. Additionally, the Mercedes did not turn on its right signal during the course of the video. While the driver might have been travelling at a higher speed (or at the speed limit), driving in a manner that obstructs vehicles moving at a faster speed is also considered road hogging and is an offence in Singapore. Drivers will receive a fine of up to $2,000, 4 demerit points and an imprisonment term of up to 6 months. Netizens' reactions Yep, it seems that a lot of netizens think road hogging only applies to vehicles driving at a speed of less than 60km/h. However, that is not the case. This is a really common practice amongst drivers, but it is not safe for the slower road users who are traveling on the left and centerlanes. Again, the right lane is only for emergencies and overtaking! It sounds like this Mercedes driver might end up having a kopi session soon if he keeps this behaviour. -------- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 12. With almost every car equipped with a dashcam and the abundance of LTA/TP cameras, it would be silly for anyone to commit a hit and run since the chances of getting caught would be pretty damn high. Watch how this Mercedes driver commits a hit and run in broad daylight in front of numerous witnesses: What happened? The hit and run incident occurred along Loyang Avenue, involving a Mercedes-Benz CLC180 and a Honda City. The Mercedes-Benz allegedly rear-ended the Honda City and tried to escape from the scene of the accident. As a result of the accident, pieces of debris were scattered along the accident lane. Karma Strikes Just as the Honda City driver alights to exchange relevant information, the Mercedes-Benz abruptly swerves around him to escape from the accident scene. However, only to come face-to-face with a red light signal, leaving him with no choice but to stop at the junction. The Honda driver quickly catches up to the Mercedes to get him to alight and assist in the accident but to no avail. Instead, the Mercedes driver blatantly ignores him and drives off upon the traffic light turning green. NGL, it takes hell a lot of guts and ignorance to pull off a stunt as the Mercedes driver did. Dashcams, Dashcams And More Dashcams As I previously mentioned about getting caught on dashcams, and lo and behold, the dashcam footage surfaces on the internet. With the surfacing of this dashcam footage, I hope the Honda driver successfully claims against the Mercedes driver. Likewise, the Mercedes driver should be taken to task for his hit and run act. You can run, but you can't hide. Netizens' Comments That is if he gets sentenced to prison... 100% agreed. If not he wouldn't have escaped given his "second chance" at the red light. 13. Is this the driver's first time in an MSCP? A seemingly inexperienced Mercedes E300 driver attempts to turn left in WCEGA Plaza and ends up hitting a parked car instead. Upon watching this short clip, there is honestly nothing that can be said to defend the driver's mistake. Despite the carpark being full, the lanes are extremely wide and spacious, which makes it easier for drivers to manoeuvre around. Additionally, a left turn is one of the most basic moves taught during driving school and most drivers should be able to make a sharp left turn from circuit training. With that being said, the fact that this Mercedes driver is able to hit a parked car while turning left in such a spacious area makes me question his driving abilities and sobriety. Is he a really bad driver or just a blur sotong? WCEGA Plaza Located at Bukit Batok, WCEGA Plaza is an industrial building filled mainly with car workshops and dealers. Its structure is similar to that of other carmarts in Singapore, such as Automobile Megamart. While the purpose of the driver's visit to this carmart is unknown, it is possible that the car that had been hit belonged to a car dealer (aka a brand new car). No matter what, the price that this Mercedes driver has to pay is astronomical. Netizens' reactions Maybe this driver should go back to BBDC and put some money towards a couple of driving lessons. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 14. The combustion engine is living on borrowed time. https://www.motor1.com/photo/5822112/2022-mercedes-maybach-s680/ A recent (and rather shocking) proposal made by the European Commission calls for the end of new ICE car sales as early as 2035. That has to be voted by the 27 members of the European Union in order for the ban to come into effect, but in the meantime, automakers will likely be forced to shave off their gasoline and diesel offerings. Why? Euro 7 regulations are inbound. Expected to come into force in 2025, the more stringent CO2 emissions will put small cars powered by internal combustion engines in jeopardy. The reason being is that it will be tricky for automakers to still make a profit after tweaking the gasoline and diesel engines to make them comply with regulations. The same holds true for high-performance cars with their typically gas-guzzling engines. For these reasons, Mercedes is thinking ahead and it's planning to eliminate many engine variants. In an interview with Autocar, the three-pointed star's Chief operating officer Markus Schäfe admitted Mercedes will basically halve its engine variants later this decade: "[We] will reduce the number of engine variants, going through Euro 7, by about 50 percent." With the next-gen AMG C63 switching from a V8 to an electrified version of the AMG A45's four-cylinder engine, the transformation is about to start. How will Euro 7 change engines? According to proposals made by the European Commission's Consortium for Ultra Low Vehicle Emissions (Clove), cars could be fitted with a multi-stage "supercatalyst." The same British publication looked at the documents and found out gasoline-fueled cars could get a heated electric catalyst, dual three-way catalysts, a particulate filter, and an ammonia slip catalyst. Not only that, but Euro 7-compliant cars might feature a diagnostics system built into the car's computers to analyze the engine at all times and make sure it meets emissions for 150,000 miles (241,400 kilometers). It all sounds quite expensive to implement, which is why we'll be hearing from other automakers about their plans to simplify the engine portfolio. It would seem the Euro 7 will be another nail in the internal combustion engine's coffin, effectively forcing automakers to accelerate the switch to EVs. Several brands have already announced plans to transition to an all-electric lineup by the end of the decade, including Jaguar (2025), Opel (2028), Ford of Europe (2030), Volvo (2030), Bentley (2030), and others.

  17. An impatient Mercedes taxi driver repeatedly honks aggressively at cyclists and recklessly drives like a 10/10 a**hole. On Monday (Aug 9), a group of cyclists were cycling along the junction of Thomson Road and Balestier Road at seven in the morning when they encountered a rude taxi driver. The Mercedes taxi driver could be seen tailgating the cyclists as they turned right at the junction in the video. He aggressively honked at them despite not being in the same lane as the cyclists. Towards the end, the taxi suddenly sped up and cut in front of the group. The taxi then took the left filter lane towards Whitley Road without observing the proper safety distance. LTA's rules and regulations for cycling on the road While the cyclists received backlash for riding on the roads, it seemed that they were following the proper rules and regulations. They were wearing helmets, rode in a single file as close to the left-hand edge as possible and switched on their front and rear lights. They were decked out in national colours and did not use any mobile communication devices while riding on the road. Netizens’ reactions While there is a stigma towards cyclists, there is no need to be such an a** towards them. If the taxi driver wanted to warn the cyclists, he could have honked once instead of continuously honking at them. Besides that, his reckless behaviour could have resulted in a severe accident on National Day.
  18. Just unveiled in Paris, and you see it first... The new Mercedes-Benz B-Class puts the emphasis on sport with the Sports Tourer. It looks more dynamic than its predecessor and is more agile on the road while offering greater comfort. Its avant-garde interior makes for a unique feeling of space with the distinctive design of the instrument panel. One of the special features is a basic volume, which drops away towards the occupants and has cutouts in the area of the driver and front passenger. The intuitive user interface of the adaptive MBUX multimedia system is ground-breaking. Its strengths include brilliant graphics, "Hey Mercedes" voice control, a standard touch screen and functions such as MBUX Augmented Reality. When it comes to active safety, state-of-the-art driving assistance systems make the B-Class one of the segment leaders with functions carried over from the S-Class. In addition, the interior is now more spacious, while the engines are more efficient and cleaner. The eight-speed dual-clutch transmission makes its debut. Start of sales for the new B-Class is 3 December 2018, with delivery due to begin in February 2019. "More practical than ever, more chic than ever," is how Britta Seeger, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Sales, characterises the new B-Class. "In our portfolio of compacts, it's the perfect vehicle for the whole family. And MBUX - the new Mercedes-Benz User Experience - provides also the B-Class with an all-new customer experience with functions that were previously the reserve of the luxury class." "The latest derivative of the new generation of compact cars from Mercedes-Benz, the B-Class writes a further punchy chapter in the success story of the dynamic Mercedes-Benz Sports Tourer," says Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer of Daimler AG. "With its emotional yet purist design, the new B-Class blends seamlessly into the design language of Sensual Purity." The designers' brief was to make the new Mercedes-Benz B-Class stand out visually from the world of minivans. That brief was accepted and executed, with the long wheelbase (2729 mm) with short overhangs, slightly lowered roof line and larger, 16- to 19-inch wheels making for dynamic proportions. The relatively squat, progressive front end with flowing transition from bonnet to A-pillar and on to the windscreen, along with the muscular shoulder of the body, underlines the sporty overall look. The same is true of the low-profile headlamps, the inside of which is already high-grade, detailed and precisely designed on the basic model with H7 headlamps and LED daytime running lights. When ordered with LED headlamps or higher, the B-Class comes with its own daytime running light signature in the form of a double torch. The optional MULTIBEAM LED headlamps have an especially sporty look. They allow fast, electronically controlled adjustment of the headlamps to suit the current traffic conditions. This feature from the luxury class, which made its debut in the compact segment in the new A-Class, now produces striking looks and added safety also in the new Mercedes-Benz B-Class. At the back, the width of the vehicle is accentuated by two-part lamps, reflectors integrated in the bumper and a distinctive black bumper bottom section with diffuser look and chrome trim strip. The large roof spoiler, along with high-gloss black spoilers at the sides of the rear window, makes for improved aerodynamics while ensuring a sporty appearance. The cd value of the new B-Class starts at 0.24 (predecessor: 0.25). The lower roof line further contributes to a best-in-class airflow due to the smaller end face of the car. In addition, the aerodynamics engineers have reduced the wind noise thanks to extensive detail work. The benefits: a high level of alertness as well as the ability to engage in a relaxed conversation. The improved seat geometry and lower belt line make for an even more generous feeling of space than in the previous model. The driver sits 90 millimetres higher than in an A-Class, thus enjoying an especially good all-round view - also thanks to optimised cross-sections of the roof pillars, which obscure less of the surroundings. Interior design: revolution, the second The interior of the B-Class is as avant-garde as the much-praised revolutionary interior architecture of the new A-Class, yet distinctive: while the instrument panel of the sister model is split into two horizontal basic bodies, that of the Mercedes-Benz B-Class has a single basic volume, which drops away towards the occupants and has cutouts in the area of the driver and front passenger. The cutout in front of the driver houses the fully free-standing display unit, which comes in three different versions: with two 7-inch displays (17.78 cm), with one 7- and one 10.25-inch display (26 cm) and, in the Widescreen version, with two 10.25-inch displays. A head-up display is optionally available. The five round air vents feature a high-grade turbine look with finely styled air ducts, inspired by the world of aviation. In the Style equipment line, the vent surround is colour-accentuated in the depth of the vent geometry to give the impression of an afterburner. The centre console with touch-based control and input system comes with a black panel look similar to the E-Class. The ambience lighting with 64 colours and ten colour worlds, a unique selling point in this segment, allows individual adjustments, even to suit the mood. The seats offer a flatter and, therefore, more comfortable seating position as well as a larger adjustment range, which also increases the maximum headroom. There is also more space in the width: at 1456 millimetres (plus 33 mm), the front elbow width now has the dimensions of a mid-range vehicle. ENERGIZING seat kinetics: supports changes of posture With seat climate control and multicontour seats with massage function, the new B-Class is available with optional extras that were previously reserved for vehicles from much higher segments. This opens the way to even better seating comfort. The new ENERGIZING seat kinetics is particularly good for the back. It can support orthopaedically beneficial changes of posture by regularly making minute adjustments to the angle of the seat cushion and backrest. The innovation is available for the front seats in combination with all-electric seat adjustment with memory function. Variable rear seats and optimised luggage compartment layout The interior has been fine-tuned in many places: the improved entry aperture to the centre tunnel in the rear makes for a more accessible middle seat. The rear seat backrest comes as standard with a 40:20:40 split. Depending on version, from mid-2019 it will be possible for the rear seats to be moved by 14 centimetres and for the backrest to be folded into a steeper position to vary the capacity of the luggage compartment behind the rear seats between 455 and 705 litres. Although the capacity is roughly the same as in the previous model, the luggage compartment can be more efficiently used thanks to the improvements. With the rear seat folded down and luggage loaded to the roof, the luggage compartment, which is flat thanks to the adjustable load compartment floor, can accommodate up to 1540 litres behind the front seats. A folding backrest of the front passenger seat (optional extra, expected to be available from mid-2019) makes for an even longer loading length. An EASY-PACK tailgate is optionally available. It can be conveniently opened or closed automatically at the press of a button, even by means of a foot movement in combination with optional HANDS-FREE ACCESS. MBUX - Mercedes-Benz User Experience: unique experience What goes for A also goes for B: the new B-Class is the second car model after the A-Class to feature the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) multimedia system, which ushered in a new era with Mercedes me Connectivity. Its ability to learn thanks to Artificial Intelligence makes the system unique. MBUX is customisable and adapts to the user. It thus creates an emotional link between vehicle, driver and passengers. Its other strengths include touch screen control as standard as well as, depending on equipment, a high-resolution Widescreen cockpit, navigation display with Augmented Reality technology plus intelligent voice control with natural speech recognition, which is activated by saying "Hey Mercedes". The touch screen is part of the integrated MBUX touch control concept - a trio consisting of touch screen, touchpad on the centre console (optional) and touch controls on the steering wheel. MBUX is a revolution of the user experience in the car. Emotively appealing showcasing features underline the comprehensibility of the control structure and thrill through brilliant 3-D maximum-resolution graphics which are rendered, i.e. calculated and displayed, in real time. A head-up display is also available. New and improved Mercedes me connect services were launched with the new MBUX infotainment generation. These include navigation functions based on Car-to-X communication and Vehicle Tracking, which makes it easier to find the parked vehicle, as well as a notification function in the event of the parked vehicle being bumped or towed away. The Mercedes me collection of apps can be placed as an icon on the screen in a user-friendly way, and can be freely sorted on the homepage like all other main applications. In addition, online content, such as current petrol station prices, can optionally be displayed. Online updating is a simple way of allowing new content to be made available in MBUX. The new Mercedes-Benz B-Class is already set up for private car sharing: Mercedes me allows the new compact car to be shared with friends and family members. Operation is simple and secure using the Mercedes me Car Sharing app. The new Mercedes me connect services On-Street Prediction, Real-Time Information and Off-Street Information can save Mercedes-Benz drivers valuable time and reduce their stress levels while at the same time cutting their fuel consumption and emissions when searching for a parking space. The real-time information is based, among other things, on Mercedes-Benz vehicles that have just left a parking space or driven past potential parking spaces. Intelligent Drive: functions from the S-Class The new B-Class comes with driving assistance systems with cooperative driver support, thus providing one of the highest levels of active safety in this segment with functions from the S-Class. For the first time, the Mercedes-Benz B-Class is able to drive semi-autonomously in certain situations. To do so, it employs improved camera and radar systems to anticipate the traffic up to 500 metres ahead while using map and navigation data for assistance functions. For example, Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC as part of the Driving Assistance package is able to support the driver in many route-specific situations, predictively and conveniently adjusting the speed, e.g. when approaching bends, junctions or roundabouts. Also on board are Active Emergency Stop Assist and intuitively understandable Active Lane Change Assist. The new B-Class comes as standard with extended Active Brake Assist, which can help mitigate the severity of rear-end collisions with slower-moving, stopping or stationary vehicles ahead - and now even with crossing pedestrians or cyclists - or prevent them altogether. The new B-Class, too, was developed and tested at the new Vehicle Safety Technology Centre (TFS). The design of the vehicle structures with regard to geometry, material thickness, joining technique and material quality incorporates findings from real-world accidents. Many bodyshell components are made of high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel to obtain high strength with lowest possible weight, because the core of the safety design of the body is the highly stable passenger cell. Driver and front passenger are provided with three-point seat belts with pyrotechnic belt tensioners and belt force limitation. In combination with the PRE-SAFE® system (optional extra), the front seats are additionally equipped with electrically reversible belt reel tensioners. Both of the outer rear seats are fitted with a seat belt with reel tensioner and belt force limiter. The new Mercedes-Benz B-Class comes as standard with airbags for driver and front passenger, kneebag for driver and windowbags and sidebags (combined thorax/pelvis bag). Rear sidebags are optionally available. Double powertrain debut: new powerful two-litre diesel is Euro 6d compliant, new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission Compared to its predecessor, the new B-Class is in all cases powered by new, efficient engines, all of which comply with the Euro 6d-TEMP limits. Making its debut is a transverse-mounted version of the OM 654 two-litre diesel with 110 kW and 140 kW, aluminium crankcase and stepped-bowl combustion process. Thanks to extended exhaust aftertreatment with an additional underfloor SCR catalyst, the B-Class with the OM 654q is the first compact model from Mercedes-Benz to be certified in accordance with the Euro 6d standard, which will become mandatory for new models only on 1.1.2020. The large diesel represents an addition to the four-cylinder diesel (OM 608) already known from the A-Class with 1.5-litre displacement, up to 85 kW and up to 260 Nm. Also available are two four-cylinder petrol engines of the M 282 series with 1.33-litre displacement and 100 kW/120 kW. Innovations include cylinder management (in combination with 7G-DCT transmission), delta shape of the cylinder head and particle filter. The new Mercedes-Benz B-Class is initially available exclusively with dual-clutch transmissions. New here is the eight-speed 8G-DCT, which is used in combination with the larger diesel engine. Other new engines will follow, as will models with 4MATIC all-wheel drive. A 43-litre tank is installed as standard, while a 51-litre tank is optionally available, depending on the engine. The following five engine variants will be available at the launch of the B-Class: B180 (100kW/136hp, 200Nm); with 7G-DCT dual-clutch transmission (combined fuel consumption 5.6-5.4l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 128-124g/km) B200 (120kW/163hp, 250Nm); with 7G-DCT dual-clutch transmission (combined fuel consumption 5.6-5.4l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 129-124g/km) B180d with 7G-DCT dual-clutch transmission (85kW/116hp), 260Nm; combined fuel consumption 4.4-4.1l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 115-109g/km) B200d with 8G-DCT dual-clutch transmission (110kW/150hp), 320Nm; combined fuel consumption 5.4-4.2l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 119-112g/km) B220d with 8G-DCT dual-clutch transmission (140kW/190hp), 400Nm; combined fuel consumption 4.5-4.4l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 119-116g/km). The new OM 654q diesel engine: lighter, more powerful, cleaner The transverse-mounted version of the latest premium diesel engine family makes its debut in the new B-Class. Despite its lower displacement - just under two litres - the around 16 percent lighter new diesel engine with 140 kW (190 hp) puts out 10 kW more than the previous engine. On the inside, the OM 654q offers efficiency-enhancing technological highlights such as steel pistons with stepped bowls in an aluminium block. The cylinder liners are coated using the further-improved NANOSLIDE® process. With a cylinder spacing of just 90 mm instead of 94 mm, the new engine is more compact than its predecessor while allowing the exhaust aftertreatment components to be installed directly on the engine, where the exhaust temperature is higher, making for more efficient aftertreatment. Thanks to further improved exhaust aftertreatment, the powerful four-cylinder from the modern OM 654 engine family already meets the Stage 2 RDE (Real Driving Emissions) standard coming into force from 2020, and is certified to Euro 6d. Even in demanding driving situations and under challenging environmental conditions, the Mercedes-Benz B-Class remains within all the emissions limits. This is achieved by additional selective catalytic reduction (SCR) with an ammonia slip catalyst (ASC) in the exhaust system of the B-Class. This allows a more generous dose of the reduction agent AdBlue, as any surpluses can be reduced and converted in the second SCR. These surpluses (amonia slip) particularly occur during fast temperature changes in the exhaust tract, e.g. when moving from city traffic to the motorway. Suspension: agile and comfortable At least as agile as its predecessor while even more comfortable - that was the development brief handed to the suspension specialists for the new B-Class. Depending on the version, several options are available for the basic configuration, including a lowered comfort suspension and a suspension with active adaptive damping, which lets the driver control the damper tuning while driving using DYNAMIC SELECT. The system uses an electronic valve, the control of which additionally analyses the driving state and optimises the damping rate individually for each wheel. In all versions of the new Mercedes-Benz B-Class, the front wheels feature McPherson struts and forged-aluminium wishbones, to which are attached cast-aluminium steering knuckles. This makes the unsprung mass as low as possible in the interests of road-holding and comfort. At the rear, the models with the entry-level engine variants come with a twist-beam rear axle in the basic configuration. In combination with the more powerful engine variants or if the customer opts for one of the optional suspension systems, use is made of a sophisticated four-link rear axle, which is made extensively of aluminium to reduce the unsprung mass. The three wishbones and one trailing arm on each of the rear wheels are mounted on a subframe, which is isolated from the bodyshell by rubber bushings to reduce the transfer of vibration and noise from suspension to body. Single-tube shock absorbers and separate coil springs are used for both the four-link and the twist-beam rear axle.
  19. A video made its way onto social media, featuring a Nissan GTR and a Mercedes-Benz A45S AMG 4MATIC Plus drag racing against each other. It was unclear where this incident took place. Here's the video for your viewing pleasure: For those that do not know, this variation of the A45S is the latest model with the highest specifications currently offered on the market. Japanese Vs German Engineering Despite the late reaction from the A45S, you can see that this 2.0-litre turbocharged hatchback quickly caught onto the 3.8-litre Godzilla within seconds. What fascinated me was the brilliance of Japanese engineering that allowed the >10 years old GTR, to go head-to-head against a modern-day sports car. Unfortunately, it was impossible to tell who won that drag race from the video. Netizens' comments Sad, but so true😥 Haiz...I was disappointed when I realised there wasn't any audio. Who do you think would have won if the A45S driver had a good reaction time? --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 20. A case of road rage with many occurrences of dangerous driving happened along Seletar Aerospace Drive, towards the direction of TPE/CTE/SLE. The marked area is where the incident occurred. Happened Off-Camera The cam car claims that the Mercedes driver was hogging lane one and gave the cam car the middle finger as he drove past the Mercedes. After which, the Mercedes tailed the cam car until what was caught on video. Caught on Camera A Mercedes E200 can be seen in the video swerving in and out of all three lanes of Seletar Aerospace Drive to block the cam car intentionally. The Mercedes driver rushed out of his car and approached the cam car aggressively. This prompted the cam car to perform a quick-thinking manoeuvre. The cam car hurriedly swerved towards a filter lane and did not stop or slow down while at the filter lane. Subsequently, he made an illegal turn to cut against the directional flow to get to another filter lane. As much as I would like to give a pat on the back to the cam car for avoiding confrontation, I feel that both the cam car and the Mercedes E200 driver should be reported to the traffic police for their blatant disregard for safety. With the hazard and dangers that they pose to other road users, they do not deserve to be on our roads. Netizens' comments Public Service Announcement If you ever encounter such an experience, remember to drive defensively and refrain from driving recklessly. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 21. A cheapo Mercedes e250 owner is under fire for using water from the fire hose to wash her vehicle in a multi-storey carpark. Caught at a HDB estate in Ang Mo Kio, the video shows a family utilising a fire hose reel to wash their car on the seventh level of a multi-storey carpark. The lady (presumably the mother) slowly fills up a bucket which her son is holding with water from the high-pressure hose. According to the cam car, this family does not reside around the area, but that does not stop them from frequenting the carpark every Sunday morning for their weekly car wash. Under the Public Utilities Regulations, no person shall use water supplied by the Board to wash any vehicle using a hose, pipe or any other appliance attached to a water tap or a draw-off point. This excludes the water taps at designated car washing areas. Any person who violates this regulation is guilty of wasting water and that's a chargeable offence. While this is not the first time a driver was caught using a fire hose reel to wash their car, it is an incredibly inconsiderate act and a waste of precious resources intended for actual emergencies. Netizens’ reactions TBH, as much as the driver wants to cut costs, she should use the designated car washing bays instead. These areas are equipped with proper water dispensers and hoses, and some carparks even have a Car Care System machine, which comes with a high-pressure water jet and a vacuum cleaner. If she can afford to have a Mercedes e250, surely she can afford a couple of dollars for a proper car wash.
  22. This incident left me speechless, period. Just watch the video to find out. This incident happened at the junction between East Coast Road and Cheow Keng Road, involving a white Mazda 3 and a grey Mercedes S320. These are the details of the vehicles involved in the accident. The video is from the cam car’s perspective, who happened to be parked right before the scene of the accident. The white Mazda 3 was travelling between two lanes before slowly veering to its left and hitting the stationary Mercedes S320. The impact from the hit then brought the Mazda 3 to a complete stop. Shortly after, a lady driver who appears unhurt comes out of the Mazda 3 to check on both vehicles. Considering the above, we can rule out health issues being the cause of this accident. The aftermath of the accident What may seem like an ordinary day for the Mercedes S320 driver (probably having tea break along East Coast Road) took a turn for the worst. Imagine coming back to a wrecked car because of this random chiu cheng Mazda 3 driver. Netizens' comments Driving while using her mobile phone seems like the only logical explanation for the cause of this accident. Ha Ha Ha this fella is a joker. This Mazda 3 driver will certainly be paying a high price for her actions. I hope this serves as a valuable lesson for her to become a better driver. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car.
