lai lai lai, new mini is out, how u all think worth the bite? booking is on now at $176k, november coming out
  2. When the COE was at 10k or lower? Just wanna do a quick comparison against the current SP.
  3. definitely not girly! http://sharpautomobile.blogspot.com/2010/0...tryman-wrc.html http://www.topgear.com/uk/photos/mini-wrc-2010-12-08
  4. This really blow my top &^%$(!! And takes the cake of inconsiderate driver. This morning. Was traveling along Tanah Merah Kechil and turning right into Upper Changi Road. As I slow down to approach the T-junction stop line (uphill towards stop line. You need to be at least 5-8m away from the stop line to see any car coming not), a SJZ mini from Anglican sec sch direction ZOOM (at least 40km/hr) into (see picture) location 1. I was shocked and quickly jam brake. Guess the lady was shock too as she didn
  5. My bro just bought a classic mini (about 30 years old) and he's looking for workshops which know how to look after his classic babe... if you or your dad/uncle know such workshop, please let me know.... he knows David Chan the mini specialist but hopes to know other mini workshops as well.... apparently some old-timer mechanics are good at fixing such classic car... Many thanks in advance Btw, he let me drive this tiny car.... i found it quite relaxed yet nippy in town , on the expressway, just stay in lane 2 or 3 and cruise along..... an iconic classic
  6. I love MINI's. When I was still an automotive journalist here, I distinctly remembering two things about the brand and the cars they produced. 1. MINI Cooper S's were probably the most natural handling car I've ever driven without extensive modifications to stiffen up the suspension and braces all over the car to get the body taut. That meant that go-kart handling and a short base that keeps the car planted and neutral most times when you're passionately driving through tight corners or doing handbrake turns in an empty parking lot (guilty!). 2. There was no way in hell I could bring myself to squeeze a friend behind me. Those seats were always meant for half an adults to occupy, but was still marketed as a four-seater car. It's ridiculous how far from the original intention of the brand BMW made the MINI. Surely they found a great selling point with its chic past and almost evergreen popularity, but making it a two seater with flimsy plastics and priced top-dollar just doesn't sit right with me. Then they realised that to really be profitable and expand their business, they needed a range of models. Thus came the Clubman - a longer MINI to give the rear passengers enough space to sit. It also had a smaller door that swung open ala suicide door, only on the right side. In Singapore, that means right into traffic, so there's really no use for it. Now we have the Coupe! Looking like a standard Cooper S with it
  7. I was shock MIni Cooper rated the most unreliable car. Even their parent company BMW is rated way below average.
  8. hmmm... sound like leh... both like engine experts
  9. New Minis will be zipping around town this year. BMW owned Mini has announced a whole new range of engines for their new range of cars, most notably, the creation of the Mini One Convertible. The new Minis will feature improved petrol engines offering more power and torque without the usual drawbacks; meaning the environment will embrace the new engines as it has cleaner emissions and better fuel consumption. Minis have always been iconic, and now, with the new line-up, the leader of small hatchbacks is not looking to step down anytime soon. Having a Mini always meant owning more than just a car. It becomes part of your lifestyle, part of what you wear like a fashion accessory. Predictably, Mini has come up with what they call 'unique Rainbow colour options' which basically just means every colour in the world can be used to paint that body of your Mini. The increased palette size will attract car-fashionists to the showrooms like moths being drawn to a lamp. There's even a new entry level Mini called the Mini First. It gets a 1.6litre, Valvetronic 4 cylinder engine, a stable of 75 horses on tap and an increase in torque by 17% from the old 1.4litre while the 'Valvetronic' is the key to the increase in torque and improved fuel consumption. The new Mini One should be contented with an increase in horsepower to 98bhp and a 0-100km/h time of 10.5seconds, and improvement of 0.4seconds. The biggest star in the new line-up will have to be the Mini One convertible. It used to be offered to only the people who have deeper pockets but now, it can be bought by people who used to buy only Protons. The One Convertible offers a lower entry point into the Mini Convertible variants and it has clever features too. The fabric roof opens and closes hydraulically even when the car is on the move, well up to 20mph. DSC stability control is standard, 4 airbags and even a rear roll bar which pops up in the event of a rollover. The range topping Cooper S features a twin-scroll turbocharger, whatever that is, which aids the 1.6litre engine and produces a stunning 184bhp and a torque figure of 240NM from 1600rpm to 5000rpm which is virtually the engine tachometer. And the figures keep getting better. There's even something called an 'Overboost' which increases torque temporarily to 260NM for more grunt and 0-100km/h is dealt with in 7 seconds. Minis will always be cool. They just got cooler.

    MINI, by Rolls-Royce

The BMW Group's two iconic brands, MINI and Rolls-Royce, have come together to produce this rather unique creation, called the MINI Inspired by Goodwood. It combines the cheeky compactness of the MINI, together with the luxuries of Rolls-Royce. Sounds pretty rich. I mean, it seems like pretty much in the same vein as the Aston Martin Cygnet, yet somehow it feels a bit different. Because the MINI has always been a slightly premium hatchback anyway, so to bring it up a level further doesn't make it seem out of place. In contrast, the Cygnet is simply a rebadged Toyota iQ, which, no matter how you dress it up, is still a budget city compact. Just look at the wood trimming and shagpile carpets in this MINI! It feels really lush, don't you think? If I have a spare couple of hundred thousand dollars, I certainly wouldn't mind buying one of these Rolls-Royce MINIs. I'm sure it'll be quite a hoot.
  11. As I may be moving soon to Europe, & I am looking for an affordable, small, decent looking, & fun car....(while I save up for the big boys later when financial allows & more used to the road conditions there). If everything ho say, I will be living around 100km from the ring, & I can see myself lapping it once in a while, or drive up the ALPS. so I hope for something decent & handles well. The Mini Cooper S is selling at well below 10k Euros now used in Germany. So I thinking of a mini, so here are some questions. 1) Which is the best version. Is it the mini cooper s? 2) Which is better, Manual or auto, thoughts? 3) What is the tuning potential for the mini. The official U.K webby state 0-100 at 7 sec (manual), it is possible to mod to say 5 sec. Realistic target? 4) What is the webby of Mini club in Singapore. 5) Any thing I should look out for? 6) Any other cars I should consider too? On a side note. I may be looking to sell my evo 9 soon. Thanks.

    Mini C

usually i just read posts, contribute some comments, make a few replies but this warrants reporting/me talking today (hence my 1st here):- was along TPE towards KPE about 10am, thinking it's after rush hour, school holidays so easy drive when a race between mini cooper (mc) vs maserati coupe (MC) unfolded! started at merging bend into highway the mc was f&^*ing the MC so close seems from my view like a small car being towed by a longer dick hilarious what was the mc trying to do? overtake upon emerging the MC roared ahead 50m away from the mc into lane 1 that's when the male behind the mc got pissed and gave chase (i can imagine the mini's 4 cylinder engine loud like a cab) hoping to witness how the mc will test the mettle or metal of the MC which European make will withstand better, then the mc braked hard, repeatedly, cut across lanes 2-3 to left exit. Thank God he passed away after chain of danger causing but chehh what a waste of everyone's time, or in the mc's case fuel... i filtered my COE (die for him) car in front of the MC at 100km/hr then saw the driver waving me to clear off (at least he didn't horn or highlight) hey, i thought you were cool in your GT and Fast & Furious stunt driving the mini mad until so..don't you know one should never speed past a bum/bummer i mean typo beemer? am already past 80km/hr limit any faster my scrap metal 7 series screws will unfasten! Analysis/story point: as a fellow F1 gear supercar owner to the MC - be nice to lousier cars, you won't know if somebody is taking his grocery car or helping others' ride ferrying that day to the mc youngster - your double white racing stripes must have given you 2 extras, i.e., 200 bhp able to match maserati 400 horsepower and accelerate 6s against supercars' 4s or is it really a car tells of its driver in this case similar structure a boyracer with big ego, low esteem small cockfidence
  13. I've had a look around the web for local distributors of commercial vehicles but can't seem to find any that sell that really large version where you can stand up comfortably inside the back of it. I need to look for one that isn't so big that you need to sit for a different class of driving license. I think it can't be more than a 14ft vehicle if I am not mistaken. What I am tying to do is source for a vehicle and convert the inside of it to make it into a mobile showroom. Any advice is much appreciated.
  14. Hi ...... Anyone using 12V mini air compressor to inflate tyre, instead of going to petrol station to inflate. Is it advisable?
  15. Hi all, Heard on the radio this morning that MINI brand is offering $688 monthly installment. Anyone knows what is the catch if any? Or anyone who has been to the showroom to enquire on this offer? Thanks.
  16. any 1 of you intend to go and test drive the 2011 cooper s? of have any 1 of you driven it before? feed back please!
  17. Young families who want a dash of chic in their choice of cars can rejoice, for the Mini Countryman has arrived in Singapore at last. The Countryman is the latest addition to Mini's burgeoning range of cars, and is the most practical model of all the Minis yet, which should suit couples who have just started easing into parenthood, yet want to experience the coolness of Mini ownership, for the Mini brand is now no longer restricted to the free and swinging singles. Personally, I am all for Mini expanding their range to cater to more market groups. There is no doubt that Minis are the epitome of style, and it's refreshing to see that they are now reaching out to even more people, which can only help to boost its brand image further. Of course, the Countryman is not the first Mini to be designed for families, for the Clubman saw to that. But the Countryman features four standard opening doors, as opposed to the Clubman's single rearward opening door on the right side of the car, and a tailgate that lifts open upwards, like a typical hatchback, against the split rear doors of the Clubman. So in that aspect, the Countryman is a more 'normal' family vehicle than the Clubman. The Countryman also has a longer wheelbase, and a raised ride height, so this will further enhance its appeal to families, with its SUV-like stance offering an added sense of security. As a young single myself, having space for the family might not be that much of a priority, yet I can see how the Countryman can appeal even to me. Driving around with the cachet of the Mini name, yet having the space and practicality of a family car, capable of ferrying people or things with ease. Certainly sounds good to me.
  18. John Cooper Works (JCW) has announced an upgraded tuning package for the 2011 MINI, which is available for all variants of the MINI Cooper and cabriolet variants. For the exterior, the stylistics touches include black border around the wheel arches, a honeycomb grille and side skirts that curve inwards that give the MINI models that distinct JCW look. The package also provide 17-inch light alloy wheels in a Cross-Spoke Challenge design. For the interior, the three-spoke steering wheel gets sporty red stitching on the black leather, JCW-badged door sills and a JCW adorned gear shift for manual gearboxes. The JCW tuning kit also provide power upgrades for the MINI Cooper S, MINI Cooper S Clubman and MINI Cooper S cabriolet. The twin-scroll turbocharged 1.6 liter 4-cylinder engine can be optimized to produced 200 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. To enhance the safety aspects, Dynamic Traction Control and Electronic Differential Lock functions are fitted to compliment the stability system.
  19. i missed my uni day (20 years ago!) where the guild house usually have movie nite every friday in one of the lecture theatre, we pay a few dollar for 2 movies..... it has a few taverns within the campus for after class happy hours..... more important, the less contact hour was like 9 hours/week for the students to fully enjoy the uni facilities and uni life
  20. very nice listen to the niose it makes http://www.streetfire.net/video/working-mi...ter_2186625.htm
  21. The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS 2011) that is to be held at Detroit early 2011 will be where BMW Mini launches its new Mini Paceman coupe concept. This 'maxi' Mini, is based on the Mini Countryman, a crossover SUV that looks like a Mini, but is really not very Mini in size (in reality closer in size and type to the Nissan Qashqai). Nowadays the lines between a coupe and an SUV must be so blurred that you can actually design a coupe from an SUV. These are indeed troubling times we live in. Anyway, the Countryman coupe or Paceman is a showcase that should appeal to the
  22. While I totally fancy the current BMW Mini I find that the newly launched Countryman is a mini too far. Or in other words, there is nothing 'Mini' about it and it distorts the image of what a Mini is to such an extent that it looks pretty monstrous. And imagine when my discomfort when I found out that the Monster Energy X-raid team has unveiled the new MINI ALL4 'Countryman' racing which will compete in the 2011 Dakar rally series. A Monster team driving a monster Mini. How appropriate. So the largest of all Minis, gets a pretty tall suspension lift, lots of rally development and also receives a massive heart; a 3.0liter twin turbo diesel engine that pumps out 315PS and 700Nm of torque. This engine may be happier in a truck than in something that is supposed to be a Mini. Amazingly, the development and work done coverting the all-wheel drive Countryman into rally spec too a mere three months. Team Monster Energy X-raid seems pretty confident that the All 4 will be successful. The Mini All 4 is currently undergoing testing in France by team Monster Energy X-raid driver Guerlain Chicherit and navigator Michel Perin after which is will be off to its first rally event. The All 4 will make its maiden rally debut at the 33rd Personal Dakar Argentina-Chile that runs from the 1st to the 16th of January 2011. What I can add is that the All 4 does look like a neat looking Off-Road vehicle but then when you suddenly realize that it is actually a variant of the BMW Mini, the opinion changes quite a bit, and then you ask
