  1. My 2005 Mitsubishi Grandis had gearbox problems and was confirmed by X431 Diag Report (code 001: 44 4th not syncromesh and code 002: 42, 2nd not syncromesh). At slow speed especially in morning difficult to drive due jerks, but once speed picks up seems to be ok. But I guess it is not safe to drive. The car has 10 more months to go before COE expires. Do you all have any suggestions - to repair or scrap? How to maximize returns at this point? Thank you.
  2. Tyres size 205/60r16. where to find cheap replacements since car scraping in 6mth time. 2nd tyres in Sg or JB cheaper?
  3. Hi i am now driving a lancer ex gt 2.0. Find it very bumpy and uncomfortable on the road especially with so much uneven road nowadays. Current tires - Firestone TZ700 Profile - 225/45/18 Brought on Jan 2014 At first thought its the absorber, so i changed to all 4 original Mitsubishi ones i brought from ming ghee then went for a balancing + camber nut replacement at AESOP but still bumpy as siao Thinking of changing the tires again to increase comfort but in order to get profile walls of 50 and above i will have to downgrade to 17 inch rims (which is good since my 18 is quite worn look) Looking at perfect comfort with occasional harsh driving After reading through i have come to 2 possible tyres that i am considering Bridgestone GR100 and Pirelli CINTURATO P7 So here comes the question If the stock tyres dimension of Lancer EX GT is 215/45/18 then which is the size below that i can actually changed to that is safe? Included below is the calculated speed difference and available size of the tires with the comfort rating (more is better) according to the calculator. 215/50R17 (Speed Difference -0.6km/hr) (Estimated Comfort Rating 5.7) 225/50R17 (Speed Difference 0.9km/hr) (Estimated Comfort Rating 6.4) 215/55R17 (Speed Difference 2.7km/hr) (Estimated Comfort Rating 7.4) 225/55R17 (Speed Difference 4.4km/hr) (Estimated Comfort Rating 8.2) Also is there any 17 inch rims that can actually clear AP Racing Big 4 BBK CP5200? TY all for your input. Much appreciated.
  4. Anyone knows the yr 2007 model Mpv using timing chain ?
  5. Hi Guys, Any owners of this model 2007.....can tell if the starter motor's cranking is loud. Car starts well but cranking is loud compared to other jap cars. Is the motor faulty ?
  6. Good to see an iconic Lancer in the resale market. This Lancer came in 3 models - 1.4GL (4 speed manual, without tacometer), 1.4SL (5 speed manual, with tacometer) and 1.6M (5 speed with tacometer, shared same engine as Galant 1.6). The 1.4l model was the top seller from 1979 to 1982. The Toyota Corolla 1.3 did not even come close. It was the most spacious in its class. But the *Lancer F 1.2 replacement model in 1983 was a failure and sales dropped drastically. *Refered to as 3rd generation Lancer Fiore in hyperlink below: http://jambu2011.blogspot.sg/2011/09/generation-by-generation-mitsubishi.html It came with skinny 155/80R13 stock tyres. Many owners upgraded to 175/70R13 tyres. It came without power steering and you need brutal muscles to navigate a parking lot. Power in 1st gear was non existent. Rev till 4000rpm + , and the car accelerates to 20km/h max. 4000rpm on 2nd gear gets you to 40km/h. Significant power comes only in 3rd gear. That is based on only the driver on board. Today's 998cc Perodua Kelisa can anytime beat this Lancer in a 0-100km/h sprint with minimal effort. But there is no way I will pay $23,800 for this Lancer. Grossly underpowered, hard gearshift, no driving pleasure and a fuel guzzler at 10km/l for a 1.4l N.A. engine. And you need to add lead additive during every top up. Using unleaded petrol leads to significant loss of power. http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=393718&DL=2548
  7. Just to check does anyone has any idea when Defi oil pressure dip down and show red alarm during idling? It will dip up and down, sometime it will just hold on.
  8. My Lancer EX 1.5A has stalled twice recently (once today and once last week). Both times, the car stalled when moving off after stopping at a junction. I did not change gears away from D and kept my foot on the brakes at the junction. I quickly switched to neutral and cranked the engine - no problems in starting it. Any clue what could be wrong? Spark plugs need to change? Cam shaft sensor? Thank you in advance. *Car is 7 years old and I've driven about 120k km. Spark plugs have not been changed before.
  9. Get caught by Jaybee police yesterday morning for beating red light at the traffic junction behind CIQ shell station. If you drive this place before, along the carwash station where the road has just been patched after so long donkey years which lead to the CIQ by bridge. How much compound should I get for the offence and period of payment need to settled.Any website available to check your offence in JB?
  10. Hi, Saw this 2008 Mitsubishi ek wagon at dealer turf city, anyone have any comments on this car. Some said it uses the same engine and part as Mitsubishi I.
  11. Any bros replaced your car interior panel bulbs before? My car is 6 year+.. Some lighting that illuminate the speedo/rpm, air con control, aircon airflow control dimming or no more illuminating. Needs to replace those led, or whatever bulbs behind the centre console.. Can advise where can I go to do that? Thanks in advance.
  12. Hi car lovers, Has coilover installed 2 years ago, currently facing noise issue during driving. At workshop, the mechanic told me is due to electric steering, the noise is unavoidable after certain mileage, currently is 86k, a 2008 model ride. Mechanic also told me due to the coilover, whereby the stock is already adjusted to correct/optimum height, and with coilover installed, there is somehow gap, after long run the gap will expand hence, now i am hearing "Gott..." noise. Coilover 2 years of usage, never send for maintenance, also producing noise while moving, which is different from steering. " (Steering sound ) Gott (1 time unless i turn to the other side)... vs (Coilover sound) Kiak kiak (numerous time)...." I have approach Font TaT to inquire the axle, estimated cost $700++ Anyone has experience on above mentioned? Regards,
  13. Hi Guys, anyone know where i can go to make a Lancer EX front grill look like this? As in just the grill part, to look like evo. Thanks in advanced!

  15. Am driving a 7yrs old Mit Lancer GLX with mileage of about 135k. Tyre age is about 1.5years. Recently noticed that my care tyre wear off unevenly. The wear only happen on the front left outer side wall. The front right tyre is not. What could be the problem? Do I need wheel alignment? Or is the suspension kaput? (still in stock since day 1). Thanks in advance.

  20. With the COE getting higher, the days of changing cars regularly are pretty much over for most of us. So, to counter the itch of changing cars, more owners are putting in effort to change their current ride's look. With that in mind, the team at sgCarMart has been on the lookout for nicely done up cars and we spotted this clean looking Mitsubishi Galant at our usual lunch break hangout. Into its eighth generation, the Galant sold pretty well back in the early 2000s. While most of us will remember the high-revving VR-M and the turbocharged VR-4, it was the normal 1.8-litre and 2.0-litre that sold well. With most of the Galants gone from our roads(most of them did not survive after their COE expired), we were pleasantly surprised to spot this immaculate 2.0-litre example. Inspired by Chip Foose, star of the reality TV series Overhaulin' on Velocity, the owner modded his Galant in tune with the mid 90's JDM look. This meant that most of the stuff seen on the car are made around that period. Starting from the front, the stock bumper and grille that came with the car have been swapped with the JDM Galant VR-4's to make it look cleaner. The lights were smoked too. The side skirts were trimmed around the edge to make sure that it doesn't look too bulky. Loving the amount of details in this car! While the muffler tip has been changed to give it a streamlined look, the exhaust remains stock. And now to the wheels. After spending two years searching for it, the owner finally found his "Holy Grail"; a set of 18-inch ARD GT wheels. Conceived after a collaboration between ARD and 5Zigen, this is a rare three-piece rim that he wanted so much on his Galant. Coincidentally, the rims, which have been discontinued since 1996, falls under the correct period (90's). A Rear windscreen wiper was added for the JDM rally car feel. Yup. This is daily driven. Moving inside, A pair of retro-looking headrests as well as the rear view mirror were swapped with the stock ones. The rest of the car remains untouched, which is no bad thing since it is already pretty well-specced for a near-10-year old car. Sunroof and digital climate control are standard and the INVECS II automatic gearbox allowed one to manually shift, which was rare back then. Moving forward, there are plans by the owner to fully convert it into a true VR-4. We can't wait for it to happen!
  21. Like most Singaporeans, I love sedans more than other body styles. Yes. I know most of the younger generation like hatches now, so yup, you can call me old. Oh well. We all know Evos, which is also called the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution in full, are fast and effective as a weapon for the road. No doubt assisted by its complex all-wheel drive drivetrain and turbocharged 2.0-litre engine. Recently, a good friend of mine told me he knew of a nicely done up Evo 9, so with me loving Evos, I paid a visit to Playtune Performance's Evo 9 GSR... Bronze Volk Racing RE-30 rims sitting nicely flushed with the body while Toyo R888s tires make sure the car holds onto its cornering lines well on the track. Project MU rotors and Biltz MR-VS brake pads provide the necessary braking power. Varis carbon lip enhances the car's look while also providing some additonal downforce for the front. Tougher looking Apexi N1 exhaust system makes sure back pressure is reduced. Moving inside, it is clear the owner only means business. Everything additional was there for a reason. A full carbon print interior impressed me! Overall, a nice and neat cabin. Surprisingly, the steering remained stock. I was expecting some Nardi or OMP. GReddy Profec boost controller made sure boost stayed at 1.4bar during this shoot. We hear it can go up to 2.0bar for maximum attack. Yummy. Defi BF gauges provide the necessary info when driving hard. Another look at the Carbon print on the dash. Air fuel ratio another useful number to keep an eye out for. Car gets going very fast once needle passes 4,000rpm. Now the interesting part...Headline figures are 528bhp and 672Nm of torque. All thanks to a 2.3-litre stroker kit plus other parts from Tomei. Walbro 255L fuel pump, SARD fuel regulator plus RC 850cc injectors provide the correct amount of fuel for the engine. Cosworth inlet and exhaust valves plus stage 3 high cam shafts feature also. Of course, the engine block has also been bored and its cylinder head skimmed, ported and polished to squeeze more out from the engine. Garrett GT 3071R here looking impressive! Koyorad intercooler for this Evo9. Battery has been shifted to the back to make sure weight distribution is more equal. Love the attention to detail. Surprised to see a 12-litre STi water tank here in the boot which is used to cool the intercooler. This is probably the only major standard part that has not been changed but of course owner plans to get this rectified with a better coilover system and lower arms for leisure track work. Much thought and effort has been put into improving his car and with the help of Playtune Performance, this Evo has turned into one well-balanced street ride.
