  1. Seldom use a mobile phone, but carry one when on holiday in Europe just in case. Both last year and this year couldn't get access by phone using an M1 sim card in France. Went to the Nokia Customer shop and the guy there spent 45 minutes or so trying to get access using my phone but could not. Contacted M1 who were no help. Recently in Portugal and Spain had no problem at all using my mobile. Anyone else had problem in France with M1 mobile sim card. The phone is G3.???
  2. Campaign banners in Braddell Road (above) are put up to discourage actions such as this - a motorist using his phone while driving in Unity Street yesterday. More than 400 banners promoting responsible use of mobile phones while driving have been put up along more than 10 roads across Singapore. The number of motorists booked for using their mobile phones while driving has risen sharply. In just nine months this year, the Traffic Police issued 2,755 summonses for the offence, compared to 1,893 summons over the same period last year. There was a 61.5 per cent spike in summonses issued from July to September, from the 1,705 issued up to June."Using a mobile phone while driving affects a driver's ability to control his vehicle and to react to potential hazards on the roads. It makes the driver more vulnerable to accidents, posing a danger to himself and even other road users," a Traffic Police spokesman told the local paper. Under the Road Traffic Act, first time phone-and-drive offenders can be fined up to $1,000, or jailed for up to six months, or both, while repeat offenders will be charged with up to double the penalty. Additionally all offenders will receive 12 demerit points while their mobile phones will be seized by the Traffic Police for investigations. However, it is not an offence to use the mobile phone when the vehicle is stationary. To tackle the problem, Samsung has launched a road safety campaign from mid-October - supported by the Traffic Police. More than 400 banners have been put up along more than 10 roads in Singapore to promote responsible use of mobile phones while driving. Samsung's 'The road comes first' campaign aims to drive home key messages, like - 'Drive. Don't text' and 'Drive. Don't call'. Additionally, Samsung has launched a Facebook application, where it requests motorists to pledge not to use their mobile phones while driving. The firm is also planning to introduce an application called 'Eyes on the Road' to aid motorists turn off their mobile phones when they are behind the wheel. "This 'always-on' mentality can mean that people use their smartphones at inappropriate times, such as when driving. As the mobile industry leader, Samsung is taking the responsibility to encourage drivers to put aside their phones while driving, and focus on the roads," said Ms Irene Samsung Asia's Vice President of marketing. 3. Brothers and sisters, was wondering what mobile phone other than Nokia Symbian os has the numeric numberpad T9 for input? Does ios, android or wp have it? Me very used to fingering between the 9 numbers and don't fancy a full keyboard... But Nokia is kind of lacking and slow in browser etc... So wondering what are my options...

    Mobile Phones

To me the 4 candidates are like the following 4 mobile phones. I like the HTC best. I am leaving the Sumsung Galaxy S2 out cos that's like most people's ideal phone.
  6. And so I came across a friend's post on Facebook this morning about how he managed to retrieve his mum's mobile phone from someone who took it (whether she misplaced it or what is not the main point, the main point is that he managed to get it back from the person who took it and I'm sure not many of us are that lucky). I personally had my own mobile phone, a iPhone 3GS stolen from me at Parkway Parade many years back. I made a police report, had CCTV footage to back me up but nothing was done. And oh, it was a job done by two guys from China. Ok back to the main topic. I'm sharing it here for awareness as many of us know we can track our phone but have no idea what app to use or how to go about doing it and since he is unable to start a new thread as he hasn't clocked 25 posts, I'll do it for him. Here is his encounter. @y2kjericho86 if you are able to reply, do share with us, or anyone knows of other apps that can help, please share with us too.
  7. As above. Would like to know where can i get foldable table which can be mobile type and can put in the car boot. As 'Cheng Meng" is coming. Wish to get one so as no need to crowd with others while praying.
  8. anyone know where i can get one of these phones for senior citizen? any recommendation? i'm thinking of getting one for my mom. about the pre-paid sim cards, which one has more cost saving for local calls? Jman888, u got any personal experience?
  9. Not bad if it works well. A good alternative for car cameras. The pro of using this over the in car camera is that no need to retrieve/transfer the video footage from your in car camera, since you can just submit from your smartphone. More importantly it's free and also no cumbersome installation. I think this is a must for all drivers, who do not have a in car camera installed. Do note that the app will only be launched this Friday, and available for both iOS and Android. Now the thing is, where can I find a good bracket to mount onto the windscreen?

  12. WhyMobile Telecommunications WhyMobile's mission is to create an honest and exciting way to shop for electronic gadgets in the comfort of your own home. Our Business Established since 2004, WhyMobile Pte Ltd (formerly WhyMobile Telecommunications (Singapore) LLP) is an IDA licensed retailer of new and used mobile phones in Singapore. It started in late 2003 when four mobile phone enthusiasts got together after being scammed at neighborhood retail stores. They were usually being quoted unbelievably low prices only to find that the phones sold to them had items removed, or were to be further subjected to sales taxes (GST). After having found out from IRAS that all GST registered traders are to display their GST registration number in tax invoices and quote GST-inclusive prices upfront, they were frustrated and decided to create an honest business of their own. By Q1 2004, WhyMobile's first website was launched. Subsequently in Q2 2004, we opened our first physical retail outlet in a small push cart outside Plaza Singapura to serve as a convenient collection point for our customers. After several months of bustling business, a facelift was given to the website in Q3 2004. By Q2 2005, we were asked to leave the kiosk at Plaza Singapura as they were to be demolished and rebuilt into an event space. We then moved to our current location in Far East Plaza and are here to stay. Our easy-to-navigate virtual store, no gimmicks policy, extremely competitive prices, wide range of products, door-to-door delivery and excellent customer service is our winning strategy that has captured the hearts of our customers all over the world. Pricing Policy WhyMobile believes in creating value through competitive pricing. Stores generally mark up their prices by a substantial amount to buffer for charges incurred by electronic payments. In order to keep our costs low, we do not buffer these charges and transfer them only to those who opt to use electronic payment methods. Trade-In & Buy-Back Prices Buy back is a scheme for customers to sell brand new phones to us for cash , especially if they do not need the phone after a recontract. If the phone was purchased from a telco , the original telco receipt is required. Prices are based on phones in sealed condition with an undated warranty card . $10 - $20 will be deducted for unsealed set . $10 will also be deducted if warranty card is dated . *Prices are subjected to change at any time during the day . Trade-in values are only approximate valuations . The actual value of your trade-in will depend on it’s physical condition , original accessories ( including memory cards ) , remaining manufacturer’s warranty ( if any ) and original packaging . So do not throw them away ! To obtain an accurate quote for your phone , please bring the entire set to our store for a trade-in analysis . *Prices are subjected to change at any time during the day . We do not accept damaged or defective devices . No Refund / Exchange Policy While WhyMobile will do our best to ensure that your purchases are free from defects , we would like our customers to note that we DO NOT have any refund or 7-days exchange policy . We will only exchange new products dead on arrival ( DOA ) at our store . Once it has left the store , we cannot honour any refunds or exchanges . We highly recommend that our customers test their phones thoroughly before leaving the store . This includes making a call , sending an SMS , taking a photo and clicking all buttons . Faults identified after purchase should be brought to the respective manufacturers for warranty claims ( where applicable ) . Operating Hours Mondays to Saturdays : 1pm to 9pm Sundays / Public Holidays : 1pm to 8pm Open on most Public Holidays except for Chinese New Year Address: 14 Scotts Road, #03-126, Far East Plaza, Singapore 228213 Phone: 67336881 Webiste: www.whymobile.com Note : We do not maintain much inventory in our store . 15. While in Taipei, I was at a book store close to midnight, flipping some car magazines and saw this concept. Once you dock the phone, your phone gets charged and you can use the in dash touch screen to make phone calls, play youtube songs, use google maps etc. Is this a production reality on any car yet?
