  1. Hi guys. Had sent my car for painting last week and had rented a Toyota Vios for 10 days. Noticed that the tyre noise is very loud. Above 60 kph, e noise is already v intrusive. Checked the tires, they seemed to be in good condition. Yoko a drive. Maybe the tyres have yet to be rotated. The car is quite impressive. V zippy when compared to my car. Only prob I have is that the seats are not really that comfortable. Get tired aft long drives. But the fc is really fantastic. Full tank gave me 510 km before the last bar started blinking. Just like to hear the feedback from others. Many have said how the car is not that good. Personally, I think its good bang for the buck.

The unique thing is the car toy model is links to your headlight and signal lights ie eg when you on the right signal of your actual car, the right signal of the car mode will light up, likewise to the headlight. It looks cool. Any body know who to do it? Thanks in advance.

  11. Seems like 320i is well equipped as compared to models like C200, A4 and S60. Which one would you go for? Although 320 is an outgoing model but it is equipped with like i-drive, internet connectivity and etc which other models doesn't have currently.
  12. A local model, Han Hui Zhen, says that she is constantly propositioned by rich men. Once, a prominent businessman even wanted her as a kept woman, offering to pay her 30,000 ringgit (S$12,200) a month. The 22-year-old girl first started modelling four years ago, posing in bridal gowns, sportswear, swimwear and working for IT shows. She told Lianhe Wanbao that the life of a model is not easy, with men constantly asking to sleep with her. "I started out as a freelance model and had to search for clients by myself. Eventually, my phone number went public and I started receiving lewd phone calls at night, asking me how much it would cost for a night with me. "They would call again even after I rejected them, even offering a higher price the next time round!" During a fundraiser in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, a well-known businessman wanted her as a kept woman for three months. He was willing to fork out 30,000 ringgit (S$12,200) a month. She rejected him. "He was offering me 10 times more than what I was earning in a month, but I could not accept it. Firstly, I have a boyfriend. And I intend to model as a career, so I cannot let making a quick buck ruin my image." Last December, Han was asked to attend a company's annual dinner and dance last December. A man approached her after the event, claiming that he was the owner of a hotel and wanted her as a kept woman. "He asked me how much it would cost a month, and said he had bedded several local actresses before. "I was shocked and left immediately."
  13. I'm intending to get a 2nd hand toyota corolla axio cng model. Anybody owns that car can provide some feedback about the reliability? I heard from my mechanic that a lot of ppl who converted cng had problems 2 years later like stalled engine and dunno what then in the end change back. Is that just because they converted at some alon kuku place or is it just something that happens because cng itself got inherent problems? (i'm guessing the corolla axio model is factory fitted and not converted?) CNG model quite a bit cheaper.... :)
  14. Singapore car buyers are actually quite blessed that the variety of models available is the envy of buyers in other countries. My friends have asked me the above question when they look for value for money purchase of a car (including both new or used models). They are mostly salary earners (aka limited budget) and have yougn kids (or going to have them soon) but normal B&B cars dont really appeal to them as they still prefer a bit of "ommph" or "wow" factor while not blowing up their budget. 'Ommp' generally means some performance, and 'wow' means some kind of 'life-style' features. Hope bros here can give some suggestions based loosely on the categories/budgets below:- 1. below $90k 2. $90k to $110k 3. $110 and above As you can see, my friends are not 'rich' but want something which their money can buy and give them max value.
  15. Below is the list of "Sports" car commonly found in Singapore road. Almost all the Japanese ones can't do 0-100 under 10 sec or above 200km/hr. As for Golf, the real "Sport" should be the R32 rather than this junior, despite fast but still entry level machine. What does the "Sport" tell you? 17. http://www.asiaone.com/Motoring/News/Story...119-259117.html Mercedes-Benz is S'pore's top car model European luxury marques are increasing market share here. -BT Fri, Jan 21, 2011 The Business Times By Samuel Ee THE Mercedes-Benz E-Class luxury sedan was Singapore's most popular model in 2010 - the first time that a premium model has been No 1 here. The Mercedes-Benz brand was Singapore's top make in both 1995 and 1996 - when the COE quota was similarly small and the economy booming. But this is the very first time that a luxury model has displaced the usual Japanese or Korean volume model among authorised distributors. In 2010, the quota for certificates of entitlement (COE) plunged by almost 40 per cent, sending COE prices to 15-year highs. This accelerated the E-Class mid-sized executive car up the charts. Along with a strengthening economy and strong demand for a relatively new model, it is clear why the core model for the brand with the three-pointed star could do so well. Read also: BMW is S'pore's top luxury brand Tallying up all its variants - starting with the entry-level E200, currently priced at $262,888 - Mercedes-Benz registered a total of 1,991 units of the E-Class last year (among authorised distributors). Last year's runner-up was the Toyota Corolla Altis, a familiar nameplate in the annual Top 3. Authorised distributor Borneo Motors Singapore put 1,894 units of this 1,600 cc workhorse on the road in 2010. In 2009, the Corolla Altis was also No 2. Also unchanged for the second straight year was the Kia Cerato at No 3. This pretty Korean sedan chalked up 1,688 units for agent Cycle & Carriage in 2010. But No 4 was another 'premium' surprise - the BMW 5 Series. This sleek executive express also sped up the sales charts in 2010 after a glitzy launch in May, with a total of 1,591 units registered in only slightly over half a year. At No 5 was the previous year's top model - the Hyundai Avante. The Korean sedan which had benefited from low COE premiums in 2009 slowed down to just 1,424 units in 2010. The rest of the Top 10 is rounded off by the usual mass-market Japanese models (see table). One notable exception is the Volkswagen Jetta. It comes in at No 7 with 936 units. The German mid-range brand posted the biggest gain in market share last year, with total VW sales jumping 40.5 per to 3,401 passenger cars (among authorised distributors). VW perhaps epitomises the changing fortunes of the car brands in Singapore. In 2009, all the Top 10 models were either Japanese or Korean cars - there was not a single European model. But in 2010, there were three, with two of them from luxury marques. For 2011, it looks like the Europeans will continue to increase their market share at the expense of the Japanese and Koreans. The new COE quota for the next six months, starting from February, will contract by 3 per cent, which means that COE premiums are unlikely to fall much from current levels. The European makes also have the forex and technological edge. Their euro-denominated models come with high-tech powertrains that combine performance with low fuel consumption. One example is the Mercedes-Benz C180 Kompressor. This compact luxury sedan has a 1.6-litre engine, which slots it neatly into COE Category A. This category's COE premium is currently $30,000 less than Cat B, the traditional COE category for luxury models. As a result, the $166,888 C180 has a strong price advantage over competitors in the same segment which have to secure a more expensive Cat B COE. With so many factors favouring the Europeans, it is difficult to foresee the Japanese and Korean carmakers dominating the sales chart in 2011.
  18. THE BMW 5 Series has emerged Singapore's most popular model in the first three months this year (among authorised distributors). In a reflection of how sky-high COE premiums have upended the car market, a whopping 489 units of all the 5 Series' variants were registered (see table). This means the luxury sedan accounts for more than half of the total 918 BMW passenger cars sold so far. Coming in a distant second is the Toyota Corolla Altis, with 351 units of the evergreen model driven out of Borneo Motors Singapore's showroom in Q1. This perennially popular Japanese sedan accounts for about a third (34.5 per cent) of total official Toyota imports. Actually, the Mercedes- Benz E-Class is believed to have chalked up a similar number in sales to the Corolla Altis during the first quarter. However, no official figures of this premium saloon are available. The E-Class had ended 2010 as Singapore's top model among authorised distributors. But equally interesting about the Top 10 list is the strong presence of three Volkswagen models. Both the No 3 and No 4 models wear a Volkswagen badge. The Scirocco three-door sports model with 193 units is the third most popular model among authorised distributors, while the Golf hatchback is not far behind with 173 units. Another VW model, the Touran compact MPV, is also in the Top 10, in No 6 place. Their presence is not surprising considering the Volkswagen brand's strong Q1 sales but what is worth noting is the German make's good spread of sales. Each of the models makes about a fifth of total VW sales - the Scirocco at 20.9 per cent, the Golf at 18.8 per cent and the Touran at 17 per cent. In contrast, there is no doubt that Singapore's No 4 model, the Hyundai Avante at 168 units, is the Korean marque's core model. It accounts for a whopping two-thirds of total sales at 66.9 per cent. Meanwhile, Toyota's former Top 10 stalwarts have slipped down the rankings. The Toyota Wish compact MPV is now No 7 with 105 units, below a more expensive sedan model, the No 6 Toyota Camry with 142 cars. The once-steady Toyota Vios small sedan is now No 10 with 102 units when it used to be consistently in the Top 5. And the Kia Cerato Forte, which ended 2010 as Singapore's No 3 model, is now much lower down in No 9 position with just 104 units registered. This article was first published in The Business Times

  22. I am not sure if the figures are true, the Mercedes E class is the top selling model in Singapore. E class - 1991 Toyota Altus - 1894 Kia cerato - 1688 BMW 5 series - 1591 I believe Singapore is the only country in the world where the top selling model is the E class. I alway have the impression that there are more C class on the road but I am wrong.
