The package will be available later this year for all engine versions of the X1 and comprises of suspension, exterior and interior components specially developed for the SUV. The external enhancements include sports suspension calibration and 17-inch double-spoke M alloy wheels for even sharper driving dynamics. Alternatively, the M Sports package can be supplied with 18-inch double-spoke M alloy wheels. The M Sports package for the BMW X1 also features an M Aerodynamics package, door sills with the
  2. Nissan has unveiled a racing edition of the GT-R developed by its in house tuner NISMO at the Tokyo Auto Salon. Called the GT-R RC (Racing Competition), NISMO has tweaked the GT-R's set up for improved track performance with the incorporation of a tire-compatible suspension, lightweight parts and proper racing safety features. These features include an FIA-qualifying welded roll cage, air jacks and a 120 liter safety fuel tank. The engine remains unturned though (it doesn
  3. This time, the Bavarian tuning specialist, ABT, concentrated on increasing the power of the German SUV, while keeping the exterior changes to a minimum.
  4. Dear fellow Forumers: Would like to engage your help. I'm currently driving a 1.6L '06 Toyota Altis (G9.5), the Gear for my model has a Shift Knob and an Overdrive Button on the Gearstick. For the 1.8L variant, they get the fanciful shift gears instead. Due to the limitations on the 1.6L Gearbox, we are unable to do direct changes to our gear knobs, but I've heard that it can be done by having a separate button for the Overdrive and doing some modifications (considered more on cosmetic) so that we can change our gear stick and knob. I've even seen a successful case of a complete change to the 1.8L type of Gear Shift, but it's just a cosmetic mod, not a gearbox change. Pictures are as follow: 1.6L Gear Converted to 1.8L style Gear Wonder if anyone has contacts or has any idea of any workshop that is willing to take up such a challenge. I am planning to change my gear stick and knob to the one below, while still retaining the original gearbox: Thanks ! Credits: Altis Group Singapore Forums

  7. Mercedes Benz UK in conjunction with the launch of its Specialist Products Division located at Mercedes Benz World in Brooklands, Surrey has previewed the very limited edition Mercedes Benz AMG C63 DR520. The 'DR' here stands for something very simple, in that the engine is 'Dyno Rated' to 520bhp. This C63 is an exclusive 20 unit limited edition (in either sedan or estate form) launched in commemoration to the above mentioned launch. The makers of Awesomely Mega and Grunty Mercedes Benzes, AMG, have fitted the already mad C63 with the AMG Performance Pack as standard to the C63 DR520. The Performance Pack includes AMG
  8. 1. I read this from Option Mag on topic regarding the myth of modding air-intake and exos, page 110 for Dec 07 issue. They did 3 tests to a stock auto car: a) only install aftermarket air-intake (sponsored by Simota, not drop-in type) b) install both aftermarket exo and air-intake c) only install aftermarket exo(branded exo was used but no name mentioned) The on the road D-Box test results (air-intake, expel air, intake+expel): a) marginal improvement than stock condition b) Not better than stock condition c) Better result than a) & b). 2. I tried to summarize. The principle of modifying air-intake is simple, i.e. aim to enhance air-exchange efficiency. At high rpm, high rev, you wanted the most unobstructed air passage to aid the combustion in the engine and at the sametimes expel out expanded air as fast as possible. So therotically speaking, it should enhance horsepower. At low-end, if the intake is too great, it actually obstructs the expanded air as it is more difficult to expel them, causing obstruction instead. It doesn't mean enhancing air-intake is no good, but its actual performance boost comes better at high rpm. So for a stop-start traffic, enhancing air-intake is not going to help alot or not at all. 3. They went on to do the test, very long articule. For air-intake alone, at high rev, the engine performance benefited most but at 3K rpm, the torque figure was not impressive, Hence, air-intake alone is more suited to drivers who constantly high rev their cars. but no one drives like that on city roads. At 1K rpm, lose of pick-up is felt , it is only when the car rev up to 3k rpm above, then the speed is gradually felt. 4. The performance on exo alone was impressive, best D-Box result. Though torque figure was also affected but at low rpm and 2.5K rpm , an obvious performance gain is felt. Car is more lively, smoother acceleration and more eager to trust. 5. The combined option has the worse result. They attributed this to the need for the car to even rev harder to climb the acceleration curve. 6. Anyway, in conclusion, they mentioned that this is the true result but up to the reader to believe it or not. In fact, in their Q&A page, they also mentioned that no point having big air-intake but the exo can't cope and resulted in "constipation". The car manufacturers already factored in the optimal air-intake for the stock car but the exo is always a constraint because they need to run loops and ends to reduce nosie and emission to meet legal requirement. Hence, for auto car, the better mod is to start from the exo. 7. I thought sometimes back, someone also posted a video where an FD with aftermarket intake and exo was beaten flat by a stock FD? 8. Anyway, modding and tuning is a never ending story, one must really experiment and to test to confirm whether there is gain at the end of the day. Anyway, this is my 2 cents worth. Please comment and feedback. Thank you very much. Regards,
  9. I'm looking at having my wife and my initials on the rear carplates. Just those added below the car numbers. Anyone knows where can it be done?? I don't think it's a good idea to buy those small sizes alphabets and paste manually....

  11. Hi Guys.. My father and I had heard from our respective friends that our ride, Nissan Sunny 1.6AT, can have our power or FC improved by some simple modifications. They are like fitting in an Air Filter (K&N or Something like that) and also a *Whatever* Valve which I'm not so sure of. I remember readin the Air Filter from somewhere else, but have forgotten. Now trying my luck to see whether you guys have any idea how exactly is it done or got improvement or not. Also, which Workshop is best for such modifications? By the way, I know Right Leg must be tamed for better FC, but just finding ways to improve it even better.. Heehee.. Thanks..
  12. Hi, I am wondering whether there is an aftermarket legal exhaust for Optra? Like Supersprint or something? I am also wondering if anyone is familiar with the air intake of Optra..whether it goes all the way down or something? thanks
  13. What you should know about exhaust modifications If you are considering replacing your vehicle exhaust system or upgrading to a new one, knowing the do's and don'ts could save you from danger and hefty fines. The exhaust system of vehicles operates to minimise the amount of pollutants released into the air we breathe, as well as reduce noise-emission. Presently, all motor vehicles are required to be fitted with a complete exhaust system with components designed and manufactured according to the vehicle model, so as to meet the prevailing safety and exhaust emission standards. After-market exhaust systems are different from the original exhaust systems designed by manufacturers for specific vehicle models. Installing an after-market exhaust system may affect the vehicle's performance and exhaust emission characteristics. For example, it may increase the vehicle's power output while the other components of the vehicle, such as the brakes, suspension and transmission, are not designed to handle the additional power. This may pose a danger for the driver and other road users. [/size] What to do if you wish to replace your exhaust system? The approval process for changing your exhaust system is relatively hassle-free. If you are replacing your vehicle's exhaust system with one that is designed and manufactured by the vehicle manufacturer for your vehicle model, you need not seek LTA's approval. If you wish to install an exhaust system that is different from the original model, you may choose one of the 12 LTA-approved after-market exhaust system brands (see box) which is suitable for your vehicle's make and model. Vehicle owners who wish to install an after-market exhaust system that is not in the list of approved brands, may apply for an approval with the LTA Vehicle Engineering Department. The owner would have to submit the following documents together with the application:- [ol] [*]Technical specifications and installation details, including pictures or drawings, of the exhaust system; [*]Certification from the manufacturer which certifies that the system is suitable for the vehicle model, and that it would not adversely affect the safe operation and exhaust emission characteristics of that vehicle; and [*]Evidence or test reports showing that the system has been manufactured and tested according to internationally recognised standards. [/ol] The evaluation process takes about one to two weeks. Once an approved exhaust system has been installed, the vehicle owner may send his vehicle to any of LTA authorised inspection centres for inspection. It is an offence to drive or ride a vehicle that has been installed with an unapproved exhaust system. This offence carries a fine not exceeding $1,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months for first time offenders, if convicted. For second or subsequent offences, the motorist would be fined a maximum amount of $2,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months, if convicted. After-market exhaust system brands approved by LTA Here are the 12 after-market system brands approved by LTA. These systems have been tested by the vehicle manufacturers or independent test laboratories such as TUV, DEKRA in Europe or JVIA in Japan. For cars [ol] [*]Remus [*]Supersprint [*]Oettinger [*]Heico [*]TTE [*]Bosal [*]Jetex-Fortex [*]Novitec [*]MS Design [*]AC Schnitzer [/ol]

  15. Hi, I got two exhaust modification options from two shops: 1. Change to hotbits centre box Replace pipe starting from flexible joint from original 1.5" to 1.6" Operate on stock muffler 2. Change to hotbits 4-2-1 extractor (Cat removed) Keep stock pipe Change to hotbits muffler Option two will require visit to workshop yearly before inspection. You'll know what I mean. So which option is better and which option is louder. Don't want to attract white ants. Price wise, it's about the same. I'm driving Accent 1.5 manual
