  2. Chinese netizens are outraged over a set of photos that had recently spread like wildfire through China's forums. The photos depict a fully nude 11-year-old girl begging in the streets of Hu Cheng City, in Jiangxi, China. Posted by an anonymous Chinese netizen, the photo came with the caption, "Nude 11-year-old girl begging in the streets. Who is shamed?" The photos also come with a poetic description of the netizen's apparent outrage. It said, "1700 years ago, the court official Mi Heng went nude as he sounded the drums and reprimanded the warlord Cao Cao. The one humiliated in this case, is Cao Cao, not Mi Heng. "In the story 'The Little Match Girl' by Hans Christian Andersen, the little girl died in the cold of the streets on Christmas Eve. It is not the little girl's fault, it is the evils of society." "Today, this nude little girl kneels on the ground, and it is not her who should be ashamed." To many Chinese netizens, this is yet again a reminder of the recent Yue Yue incident, where the 2-year-old girl died after she was ignored when she got run over by two vehicles. Netizens are incensed by the photos, especially as many pedestrians could be seen nonchalantly walking by the nude little girl. Someone even said, "Why didn't anyone at least stop to cover her up?!" Many speculate that the little girl is likely being used by a local syndicate to make money. Netizens cannot help but admit that this seems to be the state of China's society these days.

  4. Is this for a morning one way trip only? The $314.6 divided by 220 days = $1.43 per trip...so I think only morning trip. But the ERP $1870 divided by 220 days = $8.50 just for the morning trip....is very expensive. Anyone kena this $8.50 amount just going to office in the morning alone? I think need to purposely drive thru 4 ERP gantries to reach office! I think the savings comparison is over dramatized! Save up to $1.6k when you take the train Travelling by train is always cheaper than by car but just how much do you actually save? As much as $1,555.40, according to data released by the Land Transport Authority. And that's only the tip of the iceberg because the data compared the costs of a train trip via the Circle Line (CCL), to be fully opened this Saturday, with a motor-vehicle's ERP charges. A motorist spends $1,870 on ERP charges alone given that his journey starts between 8am and 9am. Other financial outlays were not included. In comparison, a commuter who travels from Ang Mo Kio to Esplanade by train via the CCL will spend $314.60 in fares. This is calculated over the course of 220 working weekdays in a year. In percentage terms, a commuter makes a whopping 83 per cent savings. Here's a closer look at how much you can save if you take the train via the CCL, which gives access to areas such as Suntec City and Millenia Walk, to name a few.

  11. Man sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.

  15. i got into a accident, a company van hit me from the back when i stop to give way for the main road... and the man tell me not to report, he will pay me $500, i think is ok, as there only one dent on my mini... so i agree, and then he pass me $50 and we sign a form saying not to report... and he will pay $450 2day later... but after 2 day, he say no money, then push till 1 week, and now almost 2 week, he just dont take my call and sms, so what can i do? i had report to police, but police will not help, unless i need to get court order & my own lawyer, before police will work... and there may be no case or prove... since we never report on that day? can i go back to insurance to claim? i had copy his IC detail... with a late report and my own lawyer? my insurance say other party never report... no case... so police n insurance also no case???? so if he use this type of trick to delay time and make people cannot report... and he can close case and get off for just $50? how to get this people to pay?
  16. sometimes i cannot decide whether to admire or be disgusted by the mitigation pleas by the defense lawyers. ---- Ex-bank manager jailed 7 years for cheating, money laundering By Alvina Soh | Posted: 29 June 2011 1806 hrs SINGAPORE : A former OCBC relationship manager was jailed seven years on Wednesday for cheating and money laundering. 32-year-old Tan Wei Chong, who had been with the bank since 2003, committed the offences between November 2007 and August 2010. The total amount Tan took from his clients was about S$2.3 million. He was found guilty of 11 counts of cheating the bank, and four charges of transferring the money to various accounts, including those of his family members. He faced 46 charges in total, with 31 taken into consideration. Investigations revealed that Tan took funds belonging to his clients through the use of debit authorisation forms, application forms for cashier's orders, and cash withdrawal forms. He had his clients sign on blank forms or forged their signatures, then telling them it was for investment purposes. Deputy Public Prosecutor Teo Guan Siew said in his report that Tan did not use his own bank account to receive the monies he had taken from his clients. He transferred most of it to a joint account maintained by four people, including Tan's brother-in-law. Some of the monies were also transferred to several accounts, including those of his family members, to reduce suspicion. In mitigation, defence counsel Derek Kang, said Tan was a diligent worker but habitually gambled online through online casinos and had also lost money from trading shares. He added that Tan became desperate from gambling and resorted to siphoning away his clients' money. Mr Kang also noted that Tan did not commit the offences as part of a syndicate, and he did not target vulnerable victims like the elderly. Tan, who had his services terminated on 8 September 2010 remained emotionless as he was sentenced. - CNA /ls

  21. I have very little money left in my OA after buying my residential property. With the new ruling, it is almost impossible to buy any more properties in the new future. So is it wise to transfer all of it to my SA? It attracts a interest rate of 4%. which is good if you ask me. I have a commercial property whose rental yield is only slighly above 4%. What do you think?
  22. This clip damn funny lei, think it's made for 2011 election
  23. Just for discussion purpose Do you think its kind of bo hua to buy 1.8L cars? Cause they are just 200CC more than a 1.6L (not much more power as well considering alot of development is put into 1.6L engines recently) and you have to pay alot more for the COE because it belongs to CatB COE. Not to mention higher road tax and insurance too. At least 2L cars are 400CC more and have more power etc..... Lastly, what do you think about having more category of COEs? Instead of just below and above 1.6L, how about Cat A up to 1600CC Cat B up to 3000CC Open Cat (all the big CC cars will fight it out in this category). Then seperate CatA COE with taxi. I feel its kind of unfair that cabs are taking away so many of CatA COE (last heard around 40% goes to cabs). At least those who intend to buy 2L-2.5L cars don't need to fight with those who want to Buy Porsche, Ferrari or Lambos. Right now, whether you buy a 2L Cerato Forte or a Lambo you pay the same COE and needless to say, the person who can afford a Lambo can definitely afford far higher COE prices. Btw, the allocation will be the same method cause LTA can know the engine capacity of the cars that deregister every month and cabs as well. So they can allocate COEs accordingly. Lastly, perhaps they should have some incentives/discounts for people going for smaller and greener cars. Purpose it to get people to go for smaller cars that gives out less pollution (eg. KEI cars in Japan). Right now, I see more and more big CC cars which is not a good sign.....
