  1. Kallang Roars?? (for those who still remember it) Or noises made by female tennis players? Or the ear-shattering/piercing F1 engine/exhaust sounds? F16 fly pass noice? (doing air-show, considered as a sports) Pom-Pom girls dacing music/drum beats? For me, the engine-braking, exhaust noise of "over-run", hard-accelerations of F1, or even the noises made by this weekend's Super GT's GTRs, Ferraris, Z4, etc are really "addictive" -----> first from far i could hear the high speed engine sounds approaching as i stood about 400m before the 180deg turn at the end of the long striaght.... the sounds started like thunders from a distance, then they got louder, and louder..... and when the cars zoomed pass me, it sounded like a the sound made by jet fighted shooting pass, then they started to down shift and engine brake, this was when the "farting" (or some called it backfire) sounds came, a bit like fire crackers but 1000 times louder!! and my heart could feel the "vibrations" in the air caused by the loud "farts".... then some cars locked the tyres and smoke came out.... some cars gave up metalic sounds (maybe from the brakes which screeched). All so loud and 'brutal" as if the engine is going to explode or break apart!!...... but the merc mclarens and porsches sounded very tame, almost ghost like "silence"... the ford GTs (in the support race) were thundering LOUD when they accelerated out of the corners!! .... Ferraris, Lambo, GTR, Toyota, etc all had their own unique loud accelerate-FARTS!!! ..... the grand stand actually shook bros who heard the F1 sounds on track will know about it..... the engine brake sounds are the one i like most!!! they do sound like someone is trying to demolish the stadium/grandstand, with LOUD bangs aka FARTS!!
  2. For some a road-trip adventure, for others their daily - but risky - way home. Autoviva found the ten most dangerous roads on this planet that pose a true challenge to any driver. Would you dare to drive here? I think everyone will like this top 10 list. Great images. Go here to see it: http://www.autoviva.com/news/top_10_most_d...rous_roads/3464
  3. Problems many many this F-35 programme... Cost overruns & delivery delays are actually very common for new weapon systems especially for the US but for the JSF, it is particularly bad with so many nations co-sponsoring the development of this extremely expensive stealth jet with a eye-popping [shocked] price tag of US$150million per plane based on some estimates. And now the Brits have to retract on their original intent of getting the more costly but loner-ranged C-models with the STOVL B-models and the Aussies are having to delay the delivery of their 12 jets by two years. So where do we stand as a interested party? From CNA: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp...1201080/1/.html F-35 to replace most US combat aircraft by 2020 Posted: 14 May 2012 0937 hrs
  4. "when MAS escape , our minister also escape" "in 2009 PAP wan to make sharper fistinction between citizens and PR, to them citizenship is not important until GE is near" "to make distinction, citizen pay $3 less in medical clinics.....do u feel special?" crowd"NO!!!" "for education, they make citzen pay the same but raise the price for PR, it doe snot make citizen feel special but it makes the PR feel lousy!" [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]
  5. Smelly tofu.... It smell bad but still ok for me, so I ordered some and told myself to try it at least once in my life. When the dish came, I took a big piece and try to put it into my mouth ...... OMG, at this point I dropped it on the floor, because my mouth auto reflect just rejected it completely!! Same for some smelly cheese..... Another day, I was enjoying a juicy roast duck, then for whatever reason/impulse, took a bite at the it's backside..... Wah piang!!.... I spilled the whole piece out.....
  6. As per topic.... Most Sinkies are just complainers and tend not to be confrontational and take on an issue even if they have the right to... But some Sinkies react BADLY if they are confronted with an issue which they are in the wrong.... Take for example... 1) A person who lives in a house and places an objects to 'reserved' a place on the public road directly opposite his front gate everyday. When other drivers come by, even if there are no vacant spot to park their car....they tend not to dare move the 'object' placed to 'reserved' the spot on the road to one side and park their car. I stood by to observe how drivers react and most reacted as above. 2) A driver improperly parks his/her car and caused obstruction and inconvience to others. When told to park his car properly by others , he/she reacts badly unless when told by proper authorities to do so and then they quietly obeys. Ppl here are getting a better living environment and are more educated but fares badly on social behaviour unless under enforcement. Is this where Sinkies are heading in a so called World Class living environment?
  7. It finally happened today and the place is at Lornie road....... Due to my carelessness, I lost control of my car while driving, mount kerb, side scrape the tree. Side fender damaged. Rims gone, under carriage damaged...... Aww.... sucks..... Worst of the Worst...... Someone actually called the ambulance and police...... WTF.... Ambulance came and ask me if I am OK. I was so embarrassed. Then TP came.... OMG..... Then ask me to report my own insurance etc and left. At least tree is ok, just some minor scratches on the bark, the bark still remain on the trunk, nothing damaged. Don't need to pay for the tree. Wonder if anyone from MCF saw the accident... [:(]
  8. And it will be good if you can give a short and sweet reason(s). No bashing and flaming, to each his own. Note currently liked driver, not last time like, but now. For me its Schumy because of his often miraculous driving (in the past), character, ruthlessness, intelligence and drive, more so than his 7 championships and records. Of course he brought controversy and his character into question. But in this kind of sports, I can close two eyes on that now that he had changed a lot.

  10. Just wondering who here have never lost their temper while driving on the roads. Losing one's temper can be manifested in behaviour such as giving a long angry horn, showing the finger, purposely jamming brake, cutting people off, getting into a race, to verbally someone in their face and even having a scuffle. To make it meaningful, you must drive on average once a day for the past 3 years. I confess to giving people the finger before.

  15. Recently, I found myself midway through life's journey. Wanting to clear my head, I left this forum and went for a walk. Without realizing, I found myself at Bedok Resevoir and the sun was quickly setting behind the trees. Since I had been deep in thought when I entered the place, I found myself not knowing how to get out. To make matters worse, I got chased by a mad dog, a feral cat and an angry monkey. After some desperate running, I was rescued by this Ah Pek who chased the animals away. He even offered to guide me out. On our way out, we passed by what seems to be school orientation games (maybe for the poly nearby?). I guess the theme was meant to be hell, since they had a huge banner that said "Abandon hope all ye who enter here". Anyway, the first group of people we passed were running about frantically touching and counting all the lamp posts in the vicinity. Apparently the winner of this game has to count the most posts. Me and Ah Pek quickened our steps to avoid this group as in their enthusiasm, one of them upset a beehive. Some distance down the path, we saw a group of people queueing up to get their heads dunked into a pool of mud by 2 burly guys. Feeling curious, I asked one of the burly guys the meaning behind this ritual and he replied the people being dunked had nothing but filth on their minds. Not wanting to get my expensive slippers muddy, I decided to move on. To be continued?

  17. Business trips / SAF 'sponsored' etc not counted..... only as a tourist/visitor. Mine: KL/JB/Melake (lost count) Sydney/Perth (at least about 5 times each, but stopped about 5yrs ago) HK/Tokyo (about 4-5 times, will go again more) NYC (4 times) other cities less than twice, so not counting them hope to visit more cities before WW3 starts
  18. A strange case I found in VW forum: Then in another thread, it was discovered that some black plates show up as yellow when the pic is taken.
  19. Heard on radio: Most women think about one thing at least 4 times a day, many be more? And what do men think about just as often? She thinks about her body.... and he thinks about women's body true?
  20. A very brilliant and prominent thinker (the one on wheelchair, a scientist/maths genius) ever said: WOMEN!!! If he's right, how to understand a bit more? Hope on day someone can invent a scanner to scanner their brain and see exaxtly what's inside So far, my wife is quite predictable, but the first few years were quite 'trail n error' in terms of avoiding land mines
  21. Share with you three experiences I personally encountered. 1) Long ago, bumped into my Singapore classmate in of all places Fremantle, Perth. We saw each other in the market and both of more than surprised to see each other. We took separate trips to Perth. 2) Bumped into a Singapore friend whom i have not seen in 6 years in Fortitude valley, Brisbane. 3) In Dalian, that night was zero degree, I was drinking coffee with a friend at Street 63 which is a bit off the city area. While there, I was explaining to her what are some of the places I would like to explore the next day. As she needs to work, she gave me some recommendations and suggested that I could book a taxi to get around. She called her brother to happens to have a friend who is a taxi driver. She called and asked the prices. After hanging up the phone, she suggested we ask the taxi driver when we are take the cab back to make a comparison so that we would not be ripped off. After coffee, we randomly flagged a cab and got on. We asked the taxi driver the price and got his mobile phone number. She wrote it down. It was the same taxi driver we called an hour earlier! Three of us got a good light in the taxi! Any more funny coincidents to share?

  23. First time came across the mentioning of this Act in the thread XXX good buddy CEO saw not stepping down...WTF & link: http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?showtopic=2672570 mentioned by MCF bro Duckduck in post #02. In actual fact, we strongly suspect that this Act, which has no equivalence elsewhere in the entire planet & throughout 9 galaxies, has been in existence for quite a while but just that not much was mentioned officially. By definition & in all practical purposes, this is the single most powderful Act ever created and the Terrorism Act actually pales in comparison. In this Act, all mistakes minor and major will be classified as honest mistakes (hence giving it the name Honest Mistake Act or HMA) & the person or party making them will be forgiven without any reprimands nor penalties imposed. Not even a slap on the wrist-type of warnings will be issued. It's origin could be traced to the S$388m wrongly paid out to a local telco years back and the man himself called this an honest mistake then and urged all to move along. That we believe led to the creation of HMA henceforth. In recent years, the HMA seemed to have been invoked many times succesfully and likely to be enhanced even further in years to come. The latest train disruption fiasco is another prime example that this HMA will be used again so at the end of the day all will be forgiven and life goes on... Ho ho ho, merry Xmas everyone!!!! [laugh]
  24. Last nite due to SMRT's fiasco at Bishan, i rushed from home to fetch my QUEEN from Centre Point... it took me 15mins to reach there, but more than one hour to reach home, why? big jam on CTE from town to amk.... I feel most e-way accidents happened due to cars hitting the one in front because they dont maintain a safe gap from the front car. In fact, I would even say more than 80% e-way accidents happen this way. Therefore my point is: If every driver keeps a safe distance, we will see much less accidents on our e-ways.... mind you, most jams caused by accidents waste at least an hour of everyone elses' time..... that's a lot of time which could otherwise be spent on doing something else instead of being stuck there and got nowhere else to go. I cant really think of any other causes, can you?
