  2. I promised him I will start a thread for him so here goes. Congrats bro in your quest for your Class 2B license which you have embarked on since........... 11 November 2013 And I am not proud to say that you are currently still at Lesson 1 to date. Take this thread as your "hall of shame" (kidding la) for being the King of Procrastination or you could use it as a motivation and channel it to your advantage now that you have so many others here rooting for you (I am sure they will) haha. Will be documenting his whole progress here. @kobayashigt
  3. Good morning~~ My coll told me something about motorcycle rental recently. Back in my hell riding years of understanding that motorcycle renting is illegal. Can shed some lights here b4 I can advise her to rent or not..
  4. http://news.omy.sg/News/Local-News/story20141020-300024 Nearly three in four motorcyclists here have had an accident before, and most admit that the mishaps were of their own doing. Poor judgment calls - from tailgating to cutting off other vehicles - were the leading reason why they lost control of their motorbikes, a recent survey has found. But in accidents involving external factors, other vehicles were blamed as the leading culprit, the findings revealed. Many riders also said that they have experienced aggressive behaviour from other motorists. The survey on motorcycle safety, commissioned by local automaker Alife Air Automobiles, was conducted between July and last month, and polled 472 riders online and through face-to-face interviews. Among the respondents who said they had been in an accident before, 30 per cent cited decision-making errors as the reason, 18 per cent said it was because they violated road rules such as by speeding, and another 13 per cent attributed it to fatigue. In total, reasons related to the motorcyclist's own actions accounted for 71 per cent of accidents, the study indicated. Gerard Pereira, operations manager at the Singapore Safety Driving Centre (SSDC), said it was good that motorcyclists were aware of their actions in causing the accidents. Still, he often sees riders squeezing between other vehicles and going too fast. The way some motorcyclists negotiate turns at traffic lights can be problematic too. Sulaiman Ahmad, an SSDC instructor with 13 years of teaching experience, said: "The bikes often do not form up (to turn), like the cars do. Some come from the left and heavy vehicles will not be able to see them - it's quite dangerous." While the riders polled readily admitted their shortcomings, the study also found that 29 per cent of the accidents were caused by external factors, including other vehicles (15 per cent), motorcycle defects (6 per cent) and weather conditions (5 per cent). Close to half of all respondents said they have, in the past year, experienced "hostile actions" from other motorists - defined in the study as verbal, visual and physical abuse - or from motorists using their vehicles in an aggressive fashion towards the riders. Tan Zong Ren, 29, a broker who rides to work daily, said drivers need to "start treating motorcycles like cars". "Many a time, drivers do not move fully into the next lane to overtake. They will move just enough past the motorcyclists, who risk being sideswiped," Mr Tan added. Devan Nair, chairman and group chief executive of Alife Air Automobiles, feels that motorcyclists could do with a better understanding of how their vehicles perform in different circumstances. "Sometimes, riders don't understand the aerodynamic design of the motorbike and when they take a corner, they lose control," he said. In April, his company launched the A-Service Centre, now located at Enterprise Hub, which offers professional diagnostic advice and servicing for motorbikes. Through this facility, he hopes to better educate riders about their machines. "The motorcycle is a precision tool, not just about fancy design," he added. 6. Driver of above car, please contact me if you need help or video footage of your accident with the motorcycle and silver taxi that rammed into you. Happened today at 4.47pm, at the SLE exit to Lentor Avenue / Yishun. Any bros here know how to extract the rear camera video of dual channel car cameras? It is 1 avi file but I can see the front and rear video using car cam software or VLC player.
  7. Hi All, I just had an accident with a motorcycle and would like to seek your kind opinions on the party who was at fault. I was stationary at a red traffic light on a bi-directional two lane road (one lane for each direction) with single continuous white line in between the 2 lanes. After checking my left side mirror and my left blind spot, I unlocked my car doors for my rear passenger to alight from the left. As my rear passenger opened the door, a motorcycle crashed into the opened door as he tried to overtake me on the left by squeezing between the curb and my vehicle. The motorcyclist fell and sustained minor injury to his leg. His motorcycle and my door were also slightly damaged. Who do you think is at fault? Thanks in advance!
  8. Hi everyone, I have read some threads that they say you will be fined and get demerit points when you got into an accident. So I was curious whether how will it work for my case. I have met 2 accident on the same day. One of the accident is the bike hit the rear of my car on the highway, while the other accident is I was going straight on the green light and hit a right turning vehicle. I made a police report and went to consult a doctor and got two days of MC. So for this case, will I get 6 demerit points and $200 fine two times (total 12 points and $400 dollars fine) since its two accident on the same day? Thanks for the help *I am still on P-plate...
  9. Scooting around the world on a Vespa http://www.todayonline.com/lifestyle/travel/scooting-around-world-vespa Juvena Huang is much like your regular Singapore girl the colleague you go to yoga lessons with, or your best friends earnest kid sister with a love for bikes. But unlike most, the 27-year-old is also embarking on a trip around the world today. On her Vespa scooter. Alone. This journey started because a good friend passed away in 2009, revealed Huang. He was a motorbike rider who was always taking long distance rides to countries around the region and spoke of riding around the world. Nothing happened to him until the rare occasion he decided to drive. He ended up in a car accident which took his life. The uncertainty and brevity of life struck me hard. I wanted to do something crazy for once. Visit her blog or Facebook for updates: http://thewanderingwasp.blogspot.sg https://www.facebook.com/thewanderingwasp Hats off to this lady!
  10. Cat D – for motorcycles – S$6,801 to set another record high. These piece of paper can buy a 2 ~ 3 used bikes in the old days. I can't understand why there is such a high demand for motorcycles. Nowadays, I can see more people riding the luxury bike like Harley Davidson, BMW etc.. These people indirectly or directly push the coe up, I think so. Normal people need a small cc bike for personal or to do dispatch job etc. This coe has a great impact on these group of riders. In the current coe, LTA should sub-divide the Cat D category to Cat D1 & Cat D2. D1 for motorcycle less than 200cc and D2 for motorcycle above 200cc. How can I know the sale figure of the motorcycle maker ?
  11. Just throwing this out here is case anyone might have a recommendation. I'm looking for someone that is willing to have a go at troubleshooting and repairing a motorcycle dashboard (lcd panel type). Suspected problem is a joint or solder crack due to vibration over time as the problem was first intermittent at higher vibration levels and then degraded. I have been told that the lcd panel is now totally blank (backlight is fine, warning lights are fine, just the lcd display kaput). So no harm letting someone have a go at it and see if anything can be done, i have already sourced a replacement from Italy but thought maybe i'd give this idea a shot. The unit is small (approx. 20cm x 12cm) and a self contained unit, only one CANBUS input in from the ECU if i'm not wrong. Can be easily removed and transported. From my understanding it is purely a display unit and does not contain any immobilizer. If anyone has suggestions for a shop or even an electronics hobbyist please let me know.
  12. I am posting this appeal for witness on behalf of @sgcmlycan. Hopefully someone who has witnessed or recording of the event can step forward and render assistance.

  16. Ever since firing its CEO Dany Bahar in June 2012 and reporting a near $200 million loss, Lotus has sought to find solid footing. One way the British marque planned to achieve this was by entering the motorcycle business, promising to deliver a Lotus "hyper bike," built by German race team Kodewa and the Holzer Group, by the turn of the year. The storied sports car maker has become more of a branding company than the automotive innovator it once was, enlisting others to do the heavy lifting while licensing the Lotus name for the sheet metal. This was evident in the 2010 IndyCar season, slapping Lotus logos on the carbon body that covered the Honda powerplant (they did enter an engine in 2012, although I'm not sure Lotus wants to be reminded of that). In Formula One, the Lotus F1 team is powered by Renault, and according to Lotus' most recent press release, the C-01 bike "is not designed, engineered or produced by Group Lotus" at all. It remains another licensing deal where Lotus plays consultant, with Kodewa producing the bike and Holzer handling development. The glorious retro exterior was designed by Daniel Simon, the man behind the awesome glow-in-the-dark blue "Tron: Legacy" bike. It features carbon-fiber and integrated titanium, along with aerospace-quality steel. Powered by a 2-cylinder, four-stroke V-twin motor delivering 200 hp, weighing a tick under 400 lbs., the C-01 promises to be as racy as the Lotus name depicts. Only 100 bikes will be produced, and Lotus is yet to reveal pricing. (Translation: Outrageous.) A range of colors will be available, from the John Player Special black and gold from Senna's early years to the legendary British racing green from Jim Clark's latter. The Martini livery looks more Lancia than Lotus (Lotus had a darker background on its Martini F1 car), but it's nonetheless sensational. No word on whether luminous Tron blue will be an option. Does it matter that it's not technically a Lotus? Well, that depends on your view. What we know for sure is it's about as stunning a motorbike as one could imagine, which isn't surprising given its designer. It may not have the strongest business, but Lotus still knows how to get attention.

  21. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efw5UiKumQISanta Claus might have his eight reindeer – or nine, when it's foggy – to help him deliver presents in all parts of the world, but in southern California, it looks like he's traded up from Dasher, Dancer, Prancer and company to BMW, Yamaha and Ducati. RNickeyMouse is usually the place to check out spectacular motorcycle crashes on video along LA's Mulholland Drive, but a recent video caught a trio of Santas carving up the iconic, twisty road. The three Santas are together, riding what appears to be a BMW S1000RR, Yamaha R1 and a hard-to-tell custom bike that could be a Ducati 1098. The video also catches a bonus Santa riding solo on another S1000RR. Happy Christmas to all, and to all cool bikes!
  22. http://youtu.be/HynTQ-KOp64 Route from Sungai Koyan is east of Cameron Highlands. One of 4 routes into CH. Man was 61 year-old. I'm 30plus already find driving up CH tiring, can't imagine in a bike at that age. Very unfortunate. Condolences to the family.
  23. http://dai.ly/x15csdh Flash floods, seemingly, are increasingly common on our land stripped island. From the views of many pictures, and videos in some cases, we can safely say that we will never want to be in that situation. Imagine the muddy water that climbs to the height of your wheel arches and penetrates your cabin. Then, it kills your engine, and leaves you (and your car) in the middle of the road (which should look more like a lake by then) like a sitting duck. Then again, there are the more adventurous sort among us, as proven by the video. This man in Colorado met with a flash flood. However, he didn't quite believe what he saw and decided to take on the treacherous waters. Jump to the video to see who emerge winner in the end.
  24. Am doing a survey at the moment, with regards to including one or more motorcycles in your wedding motorcade. 1) Will you be interested to include a Class 2 motorcycle to lead your wedding motorcade, as seen in VIP escorts for officials? The motorcycle will only be responsible in leading the motorcade, and not stopping traffic or clearing the path, etc (which is against the law). 2) If yes, why? And how much are you willing to pay for a 10 hours package for this motorcycle? 3) If no, why? Any comments or suggestions? Thank you for your time, cheers!
