  1. I just changed engine oil a few days ago , using eh Motul 8100 X-cess engine oil. My feel is that my car is more responsive and more importantly it can stretch more mileage, from the usual 9 km per litre to 10.5 km per litre (same mobil petrol I am using). Same driving style and same usual route I am taking. This is a good engine oil so far I have used. So far I have used Redline, Shell, Elf, Mobil. More info can be read here below:- http://www.motul.com/sg/en/news/products-innovation/new-x-cess-sae-5w40-for-the-toughest-demands
  2. Modern synthetics with old formulas packaged in cool containers. Without engine oil your car wouldn't run for seven minutes, never mind seven decades. Furthermore, ask any car enthusiast about oil and odds are each person will vehemently support one brand over another. Now Motul seeks to win the hearts of classic car owners with a new series of oils that tug on retro heartstrings while also offering better blends for specific eras of motoring. Motul simply calls its new lubricants the Classic Line, but it's not just new synthetic oil packaged into cool containers. In a press release, the company says all Classic Line oils include an additive package with high-zinc and molybdenum and start with a base synthetic oil. From there, the individual formulas have various detergent levels and other tweaks that are designed to work better with engines from specific eras going back to pre-1950 vehicles. It starts with straight-weight, low-detergent Classic Oil SAE 30 and SAE 50 for those old cars, back when engine tolerances weren't as tight as they are today. Classic Oil 20W-50 is designed for muscle cars, hot rods, and collector cars after 1950 where muscular engines with high-lift cams are common. Classic Oil 15W-50 is a revised version of Motul's 2100 oil designed for both naturally aspirated and forced induction engines with a focus on 1970s engine technology. Similarly, Motul's Modern Classic Eighties 10W-40 and Modern Classic Nineties 10W-30 are also aimed at both naturally aspirated and forced-induction mills. The Nineties oil is further tweaked for better protection in high-revving, DOHC engines. As for the containers, Motul uses its historical logo for the Classic Oils, while the Modern Classics get their own cool containers with retro appeal. In addition to the actual oil, we suspect there are more than a few car-crazy folks out there keen on simply collecting the neat cans. The new oil lineup from Motul is available now. 5. 5W30 or 5W40 Engine Oil Is Better For Your Car? The manual of the manufacturer is the ultimate authority for most people when it comes to the type of oil you are using for your vehicle. This doesn't come into play for others. Instead, you might opt to drop off the car at the mechanic's for a much-needed oil change and trust that the professional knows what to do. It can be difficult for other people to patronize aftermarket workshops. Changing your car's oil is your responsibility, and you find it important to know what your engine's best oil is. Such information will help you make sure your engine is in the best condition after all. Importance of Choosing the Right Oil You give your vehicle the chance to have a longer engine life if you choose the right engine oil. Motor oil lubricates the parts of your engine so that they don't rub each other and cause wear and tear. If you don't have the right motor oil, you'll need to repair your engine parts in a short time. Apart from choosing the right engine oil, you also need to make sure that you change your oil about every 8000 to 10000 kms to keep the engine in top shape. Choosing the wrong motor oil will cause you a lot of trouble. It can void the warranty that disqualifies your car from any repairs or maintenance that a driver is supposed to enjoy after you buy a new vehicle. Some of the factors to consider as you choose your motor oil include: Viscosity and Oil Thickness The oil's viscosity is closely associated with its thickness. If the engine oil is dense, it will be more viscous. If the oil is thinner, the viscosity will be lower. Viscosity generally refers to the facility of liquid flow. Motor oils 5w30 and 5w40 are number 5, followed by W. W is winter and not weight. So as a Singapore-driven car, we can disregard the W portion. The number after the ‘w’ represents the thickness of the oil in normal or warmer temperatures. The 5w40 has a higher viscosity in warmer temperatures than the 5w30. The Role of Weather In the type of engine oil you use for your car, Singapore's climate and weather play a significant role. Higher temperatures would need a lower viscosity. The oil flows quickly through the system to ensure maximum performance of the engine. That's why, unlike 10w or 20w oils, these two oils are ideal for colder temperatures. High temperatures, on the other hand, need a slightly higher viscosity, but one that is not too high to inhibit successful flow. You don't want oil that's too thin and quick to flow as it might have harmful long-term effects on your engine. So which is the best motor oil: 5w40 vs 5w30? 5w30 The most controversial on the market is the 5w30 engine oil. It can be used for various vehicle types and fits well for a large temperature range. The versatility makes it debatable with car owners, although it is favored by a minority, renewed COE customers do not find it comfortable to use a lower viscosity. 5w40 The engine oil of 5w40 is most famous compared to its counterpart. Therefore, it is as popular or commonly used in Singapore. Using this engine oil will help you improve your engine's safety. It protects the engine against building up and sludge, eventually preventing damage. It is also praised for being able to move quickly to all other moving parts and is therefore effective in lubricating the engine. 5w30 vs 5w40 For the most part, these two engine oils are similar. During colder times, they both operate well and thus effectively lubricate the engine. The oil moves quickly through all the components, making it easy when it's cold to rev the engine. But the theory don't apply in our warm climate. In addition, both are used for warmer temperatures as the thickness provides adequate protection for the engine. In addition, the only major difference in warmer temperatures between 5w30 and 5w40 is the viscosity. It makes the 5w30 more appropriate for colder temperatures and the 5w40 more suitable for warmer ones. Final Verdict When it comes to choosing the right engine oil for your vehicle, you don't have to fight. First of all, you have to ask yourself, even before you consider choosing between these two motor oils, "What does the manufacturer recommend?"This is a very valuable guideline because it decides your warranty and your engine's condition. And by choosing Motul 300V, a 100% synthetic racing oil based on ESTERCore® technology. Through technical partnerships with most prestigious team of car racing, Motul has developed a wide range of lubricants for Racing and Sport cars. The 300V Motorsport Line improves performance of the latest generation engines along with hight protection against wear, oil pressure drop and oxidation due to high temperature. Guarantees power and reliability. Medium engine dilution.
  6. How to protect your car during the COVID-19 Circuit Breaker Singapore’s covid-19 circuit breaker may mean your car isn’t driven for three weeks or more. Here’s how to keep it safe and roadworthy for when you need it – and for when the lockdown lifts. 1) Protect against bad weather Older or classic cars, in particular, don’t take well to a battering from the elements. If possible, parking in a dry, sheltered location is best. A car cover may be a worthwhile investment, too, if a canopy or garage is unavailable. 2) Clean your car before storing it A proper clean will do your car good. Leaving grime on the bodywork, especially at this time of year when it may be lathered in road salt, can cause damage over time. Motul also emphasises the importance of cleaning your tyres. This will get brake shavings, grease and mud off, which can all cause damage after a while. As ever, use the two-bucket method, rinse with free-flowing water and dry with a leather chamois for a tidy finish. As well as being good for your car, it’ll be a productive task to keep you busy at home. If you have unsightly scratches that you would like to remove, you can try this! 3) Clean and protect the interior Your car interior can be a petri dish for dangerous microorganisms, including the coronavirus. Give the interior a spring clean while you’re in lockdown. It’ll stave off bad odours that you don’t want to smell on your return – and prevent damage to cabin materials. Using a sunny day to air the car can really help as well. It’s surprising how quickly damp and eventually, mould, can build up in a car that doesn’t move. Put some moisture-absorbing silica gel in there for good measure. 4) Drive your car to the nearest petrol station It is essential to keep your car moving to prevent the tyres from flat-spotting. This phenomenon is known as flat-spotting, a condition that occurs when a tire has been stationary under vehicle load for a prolonged period. The tire has a flat spot in the area where it was in contact with the ground. It will be a good time for you to properly inflate your tyres and top-up fuel at the same time. You can also get our Fuel System Cleaner to give your engine a clean too while you are refuelling. Stay Home, Stay Safe and Save lives. Motul Singapore would like to wish all motorist to stay safe during this period.
  7. Motul Guide to CNY CAR MAINTEANCE The Chinese Lunar New Year is around the corner! It falls on 25 to 26 January 2020. In celebration of the festive occasion, we are sharing with all the motorist here what to do for your ride before driving your car and collect ang baos! 1) Protecting the appearance of your car. Give your car a good wash and waxing your car after a wash will help protect paint shine. Seek sheltered parking wherever possible. Using waxes and polishes for interior plastics helps maintain their condition. 2) Proper Functioning Of The Engine Use Motul engine oils for better performance at higher temperatures. Check for cracked or damaged hoses in the engine bay. Check for worn out or cracked belts in the engine bay. If your battery is more than 3 year old, consider a replacement before CNY. Check all the fluids in the engine bay especially transmission fluids. 3. Ensure safe driving Check windshield wipers for damaged rubber. Get a technician to check your brake systems - pads & discs Check tyre pressures and ensure they're within required limits. 4. Ensure High Comfort Levels For You & Your Passengers Ensure ac filter is clean and air ducts are sanitized. Prevent germs from breeding by keeping interior upholstery clean. From now till Feb 2020, you will recieve a limited edition Motul T-shirt when you purchase 4L of 300V / H-Tech / Hybrid of 5L of Specific / 8100 range of products. Outdrive the Rat Race with Motul!
  8. Not all engine oil are made equal. Which happens if the fuel in the combustion chamber is not completely burned? Also the answer to this question is the source of some breakdowns, i.e. the fuel continues to flow to the crankcase. In fact, it flows down into the crankcase through the piston skirt, where it mixes with the oil of the engine. There are a number of effects once this anomaly occurs. One of these is the washing of the liner walls, the piston skirt and the pieces, which suggests that the fuel cleans off the wax, leaving the area unlubricated and polishing the liner walls. https://media3.giphy.com/media/AicxDxIYkwBFvrFt7K/giphy.gif?cid=790b76114c02d6ce515423065e447cbd0d99ce48ac06ab82&rid=giphy.gif While this may sound like everything has been given a great cleaning, nothing could be further from the truth: in fact, the lack of lubricant means that the surfaces are rubbing against each other, causing wear. Once polished, holding the lubricant in the area is more difficult for the liner, which can result in faults like grabbing the piston and the liner itself. https://media.giphy.com/media/kHNGTdxTLjOuebu0ll/giphy.gif Oil dilution Another fuel leakage effect in the crankcase is the dilution of oil. This causes the lubricant to lose viscosity, which means that the films formed are weaker and less able to withstand high loads that may occur at certain points, such as rod bearings and crankshaft areas. What if the viscosity gets too low? This causes contact between the metal surfaces, resulting in rapid friction wear of the bearings. Biofuel is associated with a third effect of fuel passing through the crankcase. All diesel and gasoline actually contain biofuels in their mixture (in the first case biodiesel and in the second case bioethanol). As the fuel in the crankcase is subject to high temperatures, some of it evaporates, resulting in the accumulation of the portion of biofuel in the case of diesel fuel. As a result, the lubricant and fuel mixture's viscosity increases, and the wear on the bearings will dramatically speed up. Direct Injection Engines Have a History of Oil Dilution Problems There are numerous benefits of direct injection. The powertrain control module will show more control over the fueling by injecting fuel directly into the tank. Placement and control yields more performance and lower emissions, but there may be downsides as with any technology. Some are irritating, such as a sooty exhaust tip, while others, such as low-speed pre-ignition, can cost you a motor. "Simply put, direct injection engines produce higher levels of dilution of fuel in the motor oil, causing specific problems." Modern motor oils contain high levels of detergents dependent on calcium. Such calcium detergents help to save fuel, avoid corrosion, and clean the engine. These same calcium detergents, however, also increase the risk of an irregular occurrence of combustion, also known as low-speed pre-ignition. LSPI events may damage an engine, resulting in the reformulation of motor oils to reduce the potential for LSPI to occur. Start using Motul 8100 X-CESS You can find Motul 8100 at these workshops in Singapore. It is specifically designed for powerful and recent cars fitted with high displacement engines, gasoline direct injection and turbo Diesel and catalytic converters. Numerous car maker approvals make this product a multi-purpose and is especially recommended when the car is under . Suitable for leaded or unleaded gasoline, diesel fuels and LPG. The OPEL/GM diesel LL B-025 standard requires two main properties to the lubricant such as high HTHS and very low volatility to drastically decrease oil consumption. Motel 8100 X-cuss 5W-40 is especially recommended for OPEL 2. 0 and 2. 2 DTI engines (extended drain interval by computer on board). The ACEA B4 performance requires an outstanding detergent/dispersant power and a better viscosity increase resistance due to soot produced by direct Injection diesel engines (except VW unit injector engines that require MOTUL Specific 505. 01 5W-40). The MB 229. 3 standard is more stringent than 229. 1 in terms of ageing resistance (extended drain interval by computer on board ), detergent/dispersant power (ACEA B4) and requests fuel economy performance where 1. 2 percentage fuel economy improvement versus a 15W-40 reference. Protect your engine with the easiest and least expensive fix. Start with the easiest and least expensive fix. Use a cleaner for the fuel system like MOTUL Fuel System Clean Auto. You can now get this at Lazada.sg. 10. Over 30 MCF members with their loved ones arrived at the Subaru showroom in Leng Kee last Saturday, in the latest edition of MCF Hangout in partnership with Motul and Subaru. The hangout with French lubricant brand Motul and Subaru isn’t a random occurrence. Motul and Motor Image, exclusive distributor of Subaru cars in Singapore, has held a partnership for many years. In 2008, Motul, along with Motor Image Rally Team (MIRT) developed the Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) Team Racing Oil. 100% fully synthetic, the APRC Team Racing Oil is specially made for MIRT’s cars racing in hot Asian climates. Just earlier this year, Motul and Motor Image announced that it will supply an exclusive line of lubricant products to its customers. Developed in Japan, the new Subaru engine oils by Motul are specially tailored for the brand’s boxer engines. MCF members also got a chance to learn more about Subaru’s range of cars on offer, as well as Subaru’s EyeSight safety assistance systems at the event, too. Member of the Editorial team at sgCarMart, Idris Talib, shared his experience using Motul’s 5W-30 engine oil for his Subaru Forester XT after a service at Motor Image. Idris mentioned that he was previously running 5W-40 oil, based on recommendations from friends and workshop owners. “Many have told me to use 5W-40, as turbocharged engines run hotter and require thicker oil. But upon using Motul and Subaru’s 5W-30 offering, I was getting better performance, improved fuel consumption and never had issues with engine oil temperatures” At the event, Senior Manager - Regional Product Planning at Motor Image Enterprises Pte Ltd, David Ting, shared more on the benefits and abilities of EyeSight Technology. He also answered questions on the technology from MCF members. EyeSight’s Driver Assist Technology includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Braking and Throttle Management, as well as Lane Departure Warning. According to David, these systems can function to alert and mitigate collisions from speeds as slow as 1km/h, up to a top speed of 200km/h. After the sharing session, MCF members also had a chance to experience the safety assistance systems at work with a live demonstration, using a Subaru Forester equipped with EyeSight. Later in the day, MCF members were also treated to a lucky draw session, where three members walked away with limited edition Subaru WRX STI collectible models worth $50.

A check with the specfications... SM grade leh. anyway, i just did my 10k servicing.. wah the engine is very very quiet now.. smooth and like very eager to rev... and accelerate... thinking about the previous FC i could get, think it will only get better.... 20. Hi guys and gals, I'm thinking of changing my engine oil brand from FK Massimo to Motul. Can anyone advise me on how good Motul is with other makes of oil brands as I've never use Motul before and where can I get Motul oils in Singapore. Thank you in advance for your advises. Cheers!
  21. I decide to try out the oil since there is so much ho ha about it. Bought 2 cans from MX trading. Drain out my 1500KM old Amsoil 20W50 and pour it in. Wow!! Smooth man!! Awesome!! 1 week later....... Duh, no difference leh. The feeling is just what I get from brand new oil earlier on. Try revving to 5-6K RPM....... Can't tell any difference compared to Amsoil as well. FC slightly better than Amsoil. Just slightly better. So, I will just stick back with Amsoil during my next oil change. Maybe it will work if I track often or rev till redline all the time. But for normal driving I don't see the point. My $$$ just went down the drain..... :(
  22. Hi bros comparing the three on top which is the best for performance? my ride is FI with SC. Performance is the most impt consideration because I change engine oil every 5000 km. Anyone got the prices too bro? Cheers
  23. Dear Bros, I am driving Honda Fit GE6 to Genting and KL on 16 - 18 Nov 2008. My mileage is only 3000++km. My current engine oil is Preston and my scheduled change of oil is 5000km. I would like to get advice whether should I change my oil before I go for my trip? Which brand of oil do you recommend? What type of oil? 5W-30 or 5W-40? Where can I get Motul V300 5W-30? Regards, Kent
