  1. i like watching HK movies since childhood... esp those classics in the 80s and 90s... inspired by the "大傻"成奎安 thread, i created this thread in appreciation for all the supporting cast in HK movies... you may not know their names, but maybe you will remember their faces appearing in the movies... for all other cast, this website provides some good info... "大傻"成奎安 (passed away recently... famous for his bad guy image) 龙方 (passed away last year... famous for his evil trial boss, traitor, rapist images) Barry Wong (passed away several years ago... famous for his cop image and scissor legs tactic mostly in Stephen Chow movies) Charles Heung (famous for his bodyguard image (龙五) for 赌神) 曹查理 (famous for his lecherous face and behaviours) 高雄 (always see him acting as big bosses, high officials, etc) 黄一山 (he always acts as the one kena bullied...) 罗兰 (classic ghost or medium image) to be continued.....
  2. OK I feel like riling some feathers. For those who don't know, LGBT stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered. A term to cover mountain cover sea. I was just browsing over in Youtube and encountered these two very artsy LGBT short films. First this one is a coming-of-age one. Depends on how you interpret it. I love to hear your interpretations if you click on it. Only a man's backside is shown. No sexual acts. It is very short film. It is called Zucht which is "sigh" in Dutch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9QwIWsZmjw Next is this one called The Closet. Rather sad but also can be uplifting. Watch in HQ if you can.
  3. Didn't know there are free movies of the sixties showing over Starhub channel 64 (Celestial Movies) till 10 Feb 2009. Movies of the sixties by Shaw Brothers like, One Armed Swordman, Lady Killer, Beauty & The Kingdom, Three Smiles, ..... & many more for 24 hours daily. Just completed the show "Na Char". This bring back fond memories of my early sixties where I once que for 3 hours to buy movie tickets to watch a show like One Armed Swordman at Rex Theatre. Love stories were also shown with stars like Chin Han, Lin Fong Chiao, Chin Siang Lin, Alan Tang, Chang Ai Chia, Lin Ching Hsia ........
  4. Save my house, Hollywood Desperate homeowners let in film crew to earn $3,000 a day, but risk getting nasty surprises January 20, 2009 HURTING from the current recession but love your home too much to sell it off? Some Los Angeles homeowners have found a way to earn extra cash while holding on to their houses - they called Hollywood. These enterprising homeowners have laid out the welcome mat for film crew, offering their homes as sets for movies and commercials, reported Bloomberg. Said MrJoseph Darrell, who runs Joe Darrell Location Service, which sources locations for film sets: 'We are getting a lot of calls (from homeowners). They say, 'Can you help me to bring a production to my home, because I have trouble making my payments.' But letting in film crews is not without setbacks. MsMarylin Bitner, who owns PlanA Locations, said one client 'almost had a heart attack' when he saw that his living room had been painted fluorescent yellow. But another was quite happy to have a new gate installed in front of his house, MsBitner said. He called it the 'pay-it-forward' gate. Clothing and jewellery designer Jayshree Gupta too is happy to let cameramen tramp about her 3,000-sq-ft Bevely Hills penthouse. 'I am doing it because I need money to maintain my lifestyle. A lot of my money is either gone or tied up. Right now I am hurting,' she said as crew members laid protective paper over her hardwood floor and moved in lighting and camera gear. Her home is being used for a day as a set for a TV commercial for a day. She declined to say how much she was being paid, but Mr Darrell, who landed the deal for her, said the going rate for filming work in a place like hers is US$2,000 ($3,000) to US$3,000 a day. That amount would pay half her monthly household bills and maid service. Added MsGupta: 'I am praying, praying, for more productions to come in. 'I thought it was a brilliant idea to help myself.' MsBitner told Bloomberg that she has been getting more than a dozen calls from homeowners each week, up from about two a week a year ago. She said: 'We're getting all sorts of houses. From small homes, where owners are hoping production money will save their house, to very large mansions, where owners hope to avoid having to dig into their savings or having to sell stocks.' Still, there are some perks to letting your property out for film-making. For one, income from residential filming for fewer than 15 days a year isn't subject to federal taxes, according to the Internal Revenue Service. For another, you may get to rub shoulders with a movie star. Said MsBitner: 'We've had Alec Baldwin, Jake Gyllenhaal and Robert Downey Jr, among many others. They are always posing with our clients' kids.' But it's not just homeowners that are trying to make their properties earn their keep. More owners of commercial buildings are also letting in film crews. But many are willing to settle for less than the US$6,500 or more a day that was previously offered, said MrDarrell. Meanwhile, one desperate homeowner, Mr Jerry Mendoza, was hard up enough to go to compromise on his integrity for more cash. He had hoped to sell his four-bedroom house in suburban Burbank, which he built in 2006, for US$1.3 million. When the tenants he rented the home to left in November, he leased it for filming. But the most he had received for a day was US$1,300, he said. So he offered his home on an Internet notice for the adult-film industry - because he had heard it paid up to US$5,000 a day. Maybe the homeowner can be part of the acting crews for the adult-firm industry :)
  5. www.watch-movies.net No need to d/l anything. No need to register. M watching Batman - Dark Knight
  6. Last weekend, "The Leap Years" completely overwhelmed me with its beautiful story-line and acting (esp Wong LL). The plot was good, roles well-casted and humour injected brilliantly.. This weekend, "Ah Long Pte Ltd" completely overwhelmed me with its shi**y story-line, lame jokes, low-class filming. Anyway, I was fore-warned by friends but for my parents' sake The only good Jack Neo's movies were those before he got famous like "Money No Enough", "I Not Stupid", "Home Run".. Quality began to drop in "The Best Bet" onward.. "Ah Long Pte Ltd" has shown me how bad Jack Neo's taste is.. Simply put.. He's just making a commercial movie like HK movies in the 80s - Gambling God, Vampires, Flirt movies.. "The Leap Years" and "Ah Long Pte Ltd" are both local productions but they are heaven and earth apart.. I find it insulting to even compare "Ah Long Pte Ltd" with the "The Leap Years"...
  7. Happy Weekend to all, last night I was watching some old show, XXX - Vin Diesel movie about an extreme sport rebel being recruited by the NSA to infiltrate a Eastern-European terror group. In one scene, the car that Vin Diesel's character, just arrived in Prague and was sitting in a car that was being assorted by two agents to a safe house, they were actually sitting in a Skoda Octavia Tour, manual. Before discovering about Skoda carsin this forum, I can walk past one and be oblivious to it, but with now I can spot one quite far away.
