To think that our nation's fate is in the hands of 21 men & women in the cabinet is really chilling to the bone. And in extreme cases, it is down to 11 folks determining what happens to you, me, our future & our children's future if there is also a democratic system of majority-wins during their cabinet meetings. How did I ever come to this assumption? With a 82-2 overwhelming majority in parliament, whatever decisions/bills these 21 people comes out with WILL BECOME LAW unless the party whip is lifted. And even if the party whip is lifted, there is no guarantee that the ruling party MPs will vote with their own conscience if there is actually a group think thingy going on or they vote for these bills simply out of fear of antagonising their party colleagues or superiors. So regardless of what the background i.e. humble or otherwise, the potential i.e. minister-cailbre or otherwise or their stated convictions i.e. wanting to listen more, willing to change or otherwise, the present slate of eager & earnest newbies together with the existing batch of MPs will LL have to vote along the party line if the whip is not lifted. The idea of 9 NCMPs provided after the amendments to our constitution sounds great on paper. They can debate all they can but plays absolutely no part in deciding our nation's fate as they are only pseudo MPs & cannot vote at all. We are all pragmatic people & know the present government, despite all the apparently misgivings about transparency, accountability & dominance, is still functioning properly. Who can say, however, few GEs down the road, that their substance will still be the same? And if we are still relying on a A-Team formula, what happens if the gov of the day turns rogue then? Will it be so simple as to some say, just vote them out? Who is to stop these jokers from enacting bills to entrench them in perpetual control of the country? Will our future generations need to do what many of the Middle East folks are doing now to get things back in order? So my message is the same as what the ruling party is urging you now: THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU CAST THAT PRECIOUS VOTE COME MAY 7... Just my 2 cts...

My car insurance agent informed me that all (or most) car insurance providers will increase their premiums beginning in Jan and there is a long list of reasons why. Have you heard similar advice? My insurance is due for renewal next month. How much are you currently paying, and how much if renewing soon? Up to you if you want to mention which one you get it from. :) Thanks.

See this clip This guy talks about financial ratios. He says a home 4x your annual income will result you spending 30% of your salary on the roof over your head. I think many people are spending like 10x their annual income on homes? Of course US home rates are higher but we cant expect our home rates to be forever at 2% pa. To retire at 65 we need to save 15-20% of our income so that at 65 we would have a saving/investment of12x our annual income. Can be done?

Care to share how much yr neighbourhood 24 hrs clinic normally charges you? For me, I used to pay about $100 for consultation plus medications. I went to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital last nite and was charged $85 as consultation fee and realised that most govennment hospitals A & E charges are between $80 to $95. In A & E, young docs (Houseman) attend to you while in 24 hrs clinics, you are taken care by the more experienced docs. Pls share your experiences here.

Whether or not she is paying for part of the instalment or not is not the point, but how much did she influence your decision on the car you are driving now? or your previous ride(s)?? Before the purchase my wifey will usually say something when I ask her for opinion .... but so far what I have bought were not always the exact models she prefered, but also not what she opposed..... except the OPC she uses now which is her first choice..... (so everytime she's angry with me over other matters, I will use the OPC as a shield, kekekekeee.....)

Overheard one local celebrity saying that he caught Inception twice and about how it took the second round watching to really understand it. I am amazed, amused and curious....how is Inception deep? I don't see how it takes much of a brain to understand the concept behind the movie... You want deep...think Vanilla Sky. Inception is nowhere close to Vanilla sky on cheamilogy scale. If Vanilla Sky is a 10, Inception is at most a 6.5.
