  1. Hi guys, I'm thinking of burning some of my favourite music videos onto a DVD so I can play them in my car which comes with an aftermarket DVD player. Can't remember the brand of the DVD player, think it's Div or something, taiwanese or china brand. So I was wondering if any bros here can offer me some suggestions and idea regarding what format I should convert my music videos, which will offer the best quality and compatibility when playing in the car's dvd player. Also, I will be using Nero to burn the DVD, any complications with that? Will appreciate any advice... thanks
  2. Enjoy guys Makes u wanna go Clubbing tonight...

  5. I always think that there should be some time where we should perhaps stop paying too much attention to our ICE and start to enjoy the essence of music. Therefore, I am of the opinion to share some of my thoughts here, am not trying to provoke any heaty discussion here. So, please take some time to understand my point of views and reconcile if you are truly doing the same as what I am. What I would like to share over the next few paragraphs are simply the approach to enjoy better music. While there are many threads blooming now and then on solving ICE problems, reaching out for better system and configurations, I am wondering, if the whole essence of appreciating music still lingers in our mind. I have always love music, my wife says I fondle with my HU more than her...sounds familiar? I buy more CDs than lingeries for her, but that is true...who doesn't? Whilst my system is still in the process of running in to its potential, I chanced upon some well-kept CDs from my collection and started playing them in my car. I sense for the recreation of the ambience where the music was recorded, be it a room, a hall, a lounge or church. I appreciate each and every instruments accompanying the vocals, where they are located. I appreciate how each musician brings the instruments to life. I listen out for the passion each musician gives to the instrument, the notes and the whole music composition in totality. I look out for mistakes that musicians make and ponder if that was deliberate. I feel for a sense of liveliness in the particular record. I feel the energy the cello emits, the crisp of the piano on the right, the lazy percussion on the left and the bass at the slight left center. This is how I will describe some of my music appreciation, and the approach I make everytime I am given the chance to audition some of our members' car. I ask questions on how the CD is recorded, I ask details on the recording labels, from which I form a mental picture of how the track (regardless of familiarity) should sound like. I run through what my previous para has mentioned, that is how I appreciate my genre of music. What about you then, my friends? Are you truly enjoying the greats of the music (music appreciation), or are you simply chasing after something that will never have any ending at all? Let's pause for the time being and enjoy what you are having so far... Cheers and Merry Christmas!

  10. As part of the plan to get everyond in the meetup to learn and appreciate music better one of the experiemental new item that we plan to do is to review an (audiophile) CD each week so that ICE/Home Hifi lovers will expand their musical horizon. What we will do is to pick a few tracks from a CD each week.do some auditon (not hi-fi sense) and we will sampling on one of our member vehicle (preferably a MPV, so that we can 5-6 member to do the session together). Hopefully this would be volunteered and rotated among music lovers so that we are in diversity and have an enjoyable evening home. Since being seen pioneer in this idea (acutally i have done that in my tertiary days), let me kick this off. I will get our interested members to reference to one of my favourite disc which i have been listening for at least 18 years. Radka Toneff - Fairytales. - Genre: Jazz and Recital. Publised on LP 1979, Odin 1982 CD. Synopsis TONEFF, Radka (b 25 June '52, Oslo, Norway; d 21 Oct. '82) FairyTales '82 on Odin (duet with Steve Dobrogosz). FairyTales was off-putting for jazz purists because of its title and 'new-agey' cover art, but was her best album, with a version of 'The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress' soon issued on an Odin CD sampler: people who heard it began scrambling for Toneff's albums, but she was already gone. Her sudden death was described by newspapers as a suicide, but friends said that although she brought it on herself, it was an accident Session suggestion to start : 2300 hours. Period 10 minutes. Interested Parties: (just post your name here) 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Thanks and hope to see you.

  12. Create this thread for those who wants to talk abt the music that they like.... I just bought the new a-ha CD called Lifeline... still trying to get use to it. a-ha music grows on you after repeated playing. Their previous album released 2 years ago - Minor Earth Major Sky is probably one of the best album I have ever heard!! Here are some reviews: Pretty good! Stereoplay 06/2002 Music: 7, Sound: 8, Repertoire: 7 Lifelines by Christof Hammer Together wit fine sounding names from the 80s (Langer & Winstanley, Stephen Hague) and producers such as Tore Johansson (Cardigans) or the Swede Naid, currently very popular in the club-scene, a-ha has written the second chapter of their comeback, which exceeds the wildest expectations. The concessions to the spirit of the time - tightened rhythms and "modern" electronic sounds
