  1. My dad's car mileage is just 15,000km for 3 years, when I sent it to Borneo for servicing, the SE told me the tyres are dry and hard (supposed to be soft) and need to be replaced (first set since the last 3 years, with good tread depth). Is there such thing that tyres need to change after a number of years even though the tread depth is still good?
  2. I have a 2006 Hyundai, 5 door, Getz with the 1.6 lt motor and five speed gearbox, the problem is that about 80kms per hour the car develops a vibration you can feel it and hear it. It does not come through the steering and I have had the tyres checked and balanced. It is most noticeable when in fourth gear at 80kms, if you put it into fifth which reduces the engine revs the vibration is not as noticeable, then by the time you get to 100kms the vibration is gone. It is also noticeable when accelerating at lower speeds whilst in second and third gear whilst gaining momentum. Have you any suggestions on what it might be and what should I fix or replace first any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Hi All I've just acquired a car that came with a CARSCOP FM CAR ALARM, unfortunately, it didnt come with the user manual nor did it come with the spare remote. Does anyone by any chance happen to know how to fully operate this model of the car alarm? I've managed to find out how to open the trunk by chance, but thats about it. Would really appreciate some assistance. I've heard pretty good reviews about this alarm system. Cheers
  4. Hi Guys, My car has some ' cloak claok ' sounds on turning corner, how to know its time to change. THx
  5. My 2005 Mitsubishi Grandis had gearbox problems and was confirmed by X431 Diag Report (code 001: 44 4th not syncromesh and code 002: 42, 2nd not syncromesh). At slow speed especially in morning difficult to drive due jerks, but once speed picks up seems to be ok. But I guess it is not safe to drive. The car has 10 more months to go before COE expires. Do you all have any suggestions - to repair or scrap? How to maximize returns at this point? Thank you.
  6. Only hear people say top up the fluid.. Brake fluid and ATF, differential oil, coolant , engine, even aircon you hear of people flushing the system.
  7. Guy need urgent advises. My wife got into an minor accident, so we send the car to paintshop for respray. A frd recommended a paintshop at pioneer(not disclosing names here), today upon collecting the car, my wife found out that her touch n go card is missing. As we only use it while going to msia, she dint bother to take out,it was at the card compartment, those driving fiat punto should know.(dont flame me now, i know we r stupid to have left it there). She confronted the painter but all denied, she had no choice but to leave. As soon as she called me about this incident,i immediately call the boss, told him the whole situation and wanted my card back,i gently tell him its theft and we are recommended by a frd,we even took a photo of the finger prints with paint stains inside the compartment and that he needsnto check and confront his workers. End up he challenge me to call police, investigate on the prints and boasted he got a full viewed CCTV. We are not happy, its only a mere rm60 in the card, but its totally not right to take anythiNg away from my car and still walk away like this! Pic that i took
  8. My car is pretty low with the coilover. my front 2 tires are rubbing against the fender. also realise that my 4 tires need to be replaced now becos the tires are botak from the inner wall. i intent to increase my 4 new tires to 205 from 195. to do this, i have to raise the height of my car to at least 1 inch. my question is, any workshop you recommend to do raising of TEIN coilover and do alignment with reasonable charges? TIA
  9. Tyres size 205/60r16. where to find cheap replacements since car scraping in 6mth time. 2nd tyres in Sg or JB cheaper?
  10. Hi guys Had an unfortunate incident at Marina Square yesterday and my car is injured by the barrier Can help advise on where i can get the repair done and what is the likely cost ? Thanks!
  11. Translation anyhow high beam - tp punish by staring at high beam for 5 min. Lol. 以牙还牙 China law.
  12. Not v experienced on used car, so want some advice. What is a reasonable price to pay for an 08 Mazda 5, presuming car is in good condition? I see sgcarmart sells around 60k but not sure if this is fair price. Roughly how would you calculate price?
  13. My baby toy spoilt after he play. I suspect he threw it ard. is a toy dog, can pull along with music. Leapfrog. I open up half to check any loose wire or crack circuit. Everything look ok to me, but I'm no expert in this anyone can recommend a place for repair? I just need someone to check it and repair, if possible
  14. Hi, I have less than 6 months to go (mid-Nov) before I need to scrap my car. Given the unstable market, what would be the best course of action? e.g. scrap car immediately and/or encash PARF/COE rebate? Wait for couple more months to enter second hand market? Thanks!
  15. Hi all, need some advices from you all out there. I'm driving a 2007 Nissan Latio Premium. Recently I felt my car lost power when accelerate. When picking up that time, the car like no power. But when it reaches 60km/h, it's back to normal. At first I thought is the throttle dirty and had went to my workshop to get it washed. And i had also done my servicing. But after driving for 4 days, the problem back again. Anyone had face this problem before? Would appreciate if someone could help me on this. Thanks.
  16. Can anyone help recommend anyone who can transport a load of my stuff (furniture and cartons) to and from Suntec City? The lorry needs to be covered and probably about 14 to 20 feet long to carry everything in 1 trip. Because of the furniture, I think it should have one of the tailgate hydraulic lifts to make things easier. I've called a few companies but they want to charge me $60 - 100 per hour! I want to hire someone on a per trip basis!
  17. Hi, How do I post message on other forum. I can only post message here only.
  18. HI I am driving my new car for 5 years and the tyre since day 1 have not change yet. Since my car is an OPC and mileage is only 38K till now. The tyre trend is still going at 80% new. IS there any danger if I carry on using the present tyre for the next following years? Do I need to change all 4 piece? Will the tyre rubber get harden? Will it affect my braking distance? Please advise...
  19. Lesson 101 for Driver. The spark plug's location exposes it to extreme temperature variations, chemicals, fuels and oils. It is also attacked by cylinder pressures produced by the piston and cam timing, then it is also assaulted by high-output ignition units. As a result of all of this, one can effectively learn what the engine is doing by reading the firing end of the spark plugs. By careful examination of the plug's color, gap, and any deposits that reside on it, you will be shown the efficiencies as well as deficiencies of what is going on in the engine. Spark plugs should be checked at least yearly, and replaced as often as necessary. In most cases you can follow the manufacturers recommendations for replacement intervals. How a Spark Plug Works: The basics of a spark plug is that it must perform two primary functions. To Ignite the Air/Fuel mixture To REMOVE the heat out of the combustion chamber Spark plugs transmit electrical energy that turns fuel into working energy. A sufficient amount of voltage must be supplied by the ignition system to cause the spark to jump the across the spark plug gap, thus creating what is called Electrical Performance. Additionally, the temperature of the spark plug's firing end must be kept low enough to prevent pre-ignition, but high enough to prevent fouling. This is called Thermal Performance and is determined by the heat range of the spark plug. It is important to understand that spark plugs CANNOT create heat, only remove it! The spark plug works as a heat exchanger, pulling unwanted thermal energy away from the combustion chamber and transferring the heat to the engine's cooling system. The heat range is defined as a plug's ability to dissipate heat. The rate of heat is determined by: The insulator nose length Gas volume around the insulator nose Materials and/or construction of the center electrode and porcelain insulator Now to the actual function: As the Ignition is triggered it sends the spark through the rotor, to the cap, down the wire and then it jumps the gap of the spark plug, a spark kernel is created that ignites the air/fuel mixture in the combustion chamber. Proper timing of this spark is not the only concern as described above. You must have the proper heat range as well as the correct gap. Opening The Plug Gap: On weaker or stock ignitions, opening up the gap CAN increase the spark kernel size, thereby creating a more efficient burn. The problem lies in that any added gap creates more strain on the other ignition parts. Coils may not have enough stored energy to fire, or in the least case, not enough energy to cross the gap, creating a miss-fire. Plug wires will break down due to the added resistance as the spark tries to reach ground. Rotor and Cap, as well as points (if you still have an interest in prehistoric ignitions), and the carbon bushing in the center of the distributor cap will show early failures. All of this is because the greater the gap and the higher the voltage requirement to jump the gap. Do not forget the gap between the rotor arm to the distributor cap too. A high performance rotor is a bit longer at the tip, allowing less spark loss or chance of spark scatter in the cap as the spark attempts to jump the plug gap. It is also possible to slow down a car if the gap is too big. Spark Plug Heat Range: A spark plug's heat range has no relationship on the actual voltage transferred through the spark plug. Rather, the heat range is a measure of the spark plug's ability to remove heat from the combustion chamber. The heat range measurement is determined by several factors: The length of the ceramic center insulator nose The insulator nose's ability to absorb and transfer combustion heat The material composition of the insulator The material composition of the center electrode The longer the insulator nose gives you a larger surface area exposed to combustion gasses and heat is dissipated slowly. This also means the firing end heats up more quickly. We are talking about exposed ceramic length, not extended tip length. The insulator nose length is the distance from the firing tip of the insulator to the point where the insulator meets the metal shell. Since the insulator tip is the hottest part of the spark plug, the tip temperature is a primary factor in pre-ignition and fouling. The spark plug tip temperature must remain between 450
  20. Yo, Today I got a problem with the ride Ride is honda. 7 yrs old. CVTF gear. 100km mileage. Last servicing was in Dec 2013. New Iridium sparks changed. Usual EO used. New air filter changed. First, I feel that car doesn't accelerate as much as normal. Hit 80km/h or so, the car doesn't feel the power to go higher speed. Something holding back the car. Then when I had to stop the car and wait for someone, I put gear to N and pull hand brake. After 1 min, the engine died! It just died..... I can restart the engine without problem. The idling is not stable, and I feel the engine is weak. I suspect its ignition coil? I thought it might be the fuel filter, but I change it 30k km before. And I don't pump MY petrol. Any advice?
  21. Hi guys, Need some advise from you all. I am staying in 5 rooms flat installed with system 3 aircon. Did not fix a unit in living room Now I would like to have aircon in my living room. Wanna check if HDB will approve 2 compressor in one HDB unit. possible to apply? another option will be portable aircon which is not a wise choice. last option, buy new system 4..... waste money cos my sys3 used 3years only. kindly give comment, advise. Thanks
  22. I am doing 80k major servicing for Toyota Wish (bought from PI). Not going back to the PI workshop as there is no more warranty. My understanding is that major servicing will change the following : 1) Engine Oil and oil filter 2) Spark plug 3) Brake oil 4) ATF oil 5) Coolant As the workshop usually use a different brand from my preference and also the charge more if use their own. Thus, I intend to buy the above and only pay labour for the mechanic to change. But I have the following queries for 1 and 2 are quite standard and i have no question on that for 3, i heard there is different grade of oil. Dot 3, Dot 4, etc. Which one should i use for Toyota Wish? For 4 n 5, is there any thing i should look out for. eg. brand and grade of material? Is there anything i missed out on the major servicing? Thanks for your kind advise!
  23. Hi all, I just moved house and i am on m1 fibre bb. my config is ONT -> huawei hg8240 - > esr9850. when i am at my old hse, everything is working fine. both wired and wireless. but when i move to new home, i did the same connection but i cannot get any wireless connections although connect to my router, there are internet connections. i googled and i hard reset my router but after that i could not log in to 192.168.0.1. i go to cmd and ip config and my ip address is 175.156.159.209 and my default gateway is 175.156.128.1 and i find it quite weird. I also cannot log in to the above 2 address also. can any gurus out there help me get my wireless connection back?? thanks in advance!!!
