  2. Hey guys, just bought a new vehicle, and I need to find out what brakes are these. I have checked around with a number of brake workshops and they tell me that these are not original Brembos - but they do not know where they come from. Any experts have any ideas? Thank you very much.
  3. My car going to due in Dec 2015 and currently hunting a new car now .... Aircon start giving me problem last month, cool air instead of cold air blowing out. Went to see the "MCF recommended" aircon specialist in the north and was told compressor going to kaput. I was quoted $600-$700 for the compressor and decided just to top up aircon gas. After topping up the aircon gas, aircon is back back to norm until today. Went to seek 2nd opinion from another workshop in the north, this time was told the cooling coil leak and need to change else compressor will sure die soon. is it the compressor or cooling coil causing the problem or worst both need to change. Do you think my aircon able to "tong" for 4-5 months by just topping up aircon gas every month?

  5. Hi everyone My one-year driving suspension is ending in 2 week time. I have called a driving centre to make enquiry on retaking my class 3 licence. I was told that I have to start all over again from zero from eyes test, basic theory onward. Also, I could not enrol for any lesson or book for any test date now; must wait till after revocation period. The centre got express course for people like me. The package includes 6 driving lessons and 1 test date. Need advice & tips here. What are the alternatives available for me besides the driving centre package? Any other useful information for me in my journey to regain my licence will be deeply appreciated. Thank you. Stanley

  9. Need some advice. Just moved in to my new house for a few months already.. Brought in my parents in law + bro in law to live together as they do not have a place of their own. To cut story short. My wife experienced a very bad encounter with his father. I will not list them all but a few only He brushed his hands against my wife’s bottom while he was walking behind her While my wife was walking in the house, he was sitting at the dining and staring at my wife’s chest area. How she knew this was that she was looking at him right in the face all along. While she was napping in the living room, she opened her eyes and caught her dad staring at her. When he notice that she’s awake, he walked off abruptly without saying anything. This incidents has caused her so much distress and lose all the respect she had towards him. She has been locking herself in the room while im at work and feeling shitty every single day. Crying every time she recalled these incidents. She felt that she has been sexually violated. Tried telling her mom, but she brushed it off as it could be an accident and it can happen anywhere. Even told my wife to forget all about it. It has been a few weeks and the tension at home is really tight. What should I do? Should I confront him? Feeling shitty thinking about this issue. Having a new and big house doesn’t mean happiness is guaranteed. Dang!

  15. Hi gurus... Need some advice here. I'm looking at either the merc gla 180, cla shooting brake, BMW 216i, or BMW x1. I haven't test drive any of them yet, will be doing the test drive next week. Anyway I wouldn't be able to tell much about the car from a test drive. Of the 4 choices, I'm seriously considering the gla180 and BMW x1. I've got a family of 3, and I do have to transport goods occasionally (maybe once a month, 20-30 boxes per trip). Any feedback would be appreciated!!

Managed to buff out the scratches but left a bit of polishing marks . It is not noticeable unless look at it closely. I can live with it. Do I need to do anything more on the affected areas like applying a protective coat?

  18. I agree, please start with new HDB price slashing by another 40%. Than I say, "You The Man" HDB can stay at current sq/meters but price of 4 & 5 rooms slash ... Yahoo news: Singapore's Home Prices Need to Cool Further: Deputy PM Singapore's longest stretch of property price declines since the global economic crisis may not be sufficient to encourage a relaxation in housing curbs, according to Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam. Shanmugaratnam, who is also the finance minister, said the government can never get rid of cycles in the real estate market, which it will help cool with housing measures. Shanmugaratnam said: "There is some distance to go in achieving a meaningful correction, after the sharp run-up in prices in recent years. "We can never get rid of cycles in the property market, with the upswings in some years being followed by corrections. Our cooling measures cannot eliminate the cycle, but they aim to temper it. "What this means is avoiding a bubble during the upswing and allowing for a correction in prices subsequently," the minister added. Alan Cheong, senior director of real estate research at Savills in Singapore, told Bloomberg: "The government is signalling that the measures will be in place for a while longer. The curbs may start being rolled back after two to three quarters or maximum in a year." Last week, National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan said it was still not the right time to terminate the government's cooling measures and that there was still room for prices to moderate. Private home prices on the island dropped 0.7% in the three months to September, marking the fourth straight quarter-on-quarter drop, and bringing the slide over the past twelve months to about four percent. Most Expensive City Singapore has become the most expensive city in the world to live in following a rise in house prices after an influx of foreign workers boosted the island state's wealth and demand for homes. According to a February Economist Intelligence Unit report, titled The Worldwide Cost of Living Survey, a strengthening of the Singaporean dollar also pushed the country to pole position as the expansion of the financial industry contributed to the country's wealth. link: https://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/singapores-home-prices-cool-further-deputy-pm-112102955--finance.html

  21. Thanks to YSL's ballessness and MIW's excessive gloating earlier this year, WP took drastic actions which set the bar very high. Now MIW have to fall on their own sword. To prevent future circuses and waste of taxpayer monies on BE, I think politicians should have a gentlemen's "Code of Conduct". By Code of Conduct, I don't mean a set of standards to govern their morals. Rather, I am talking about a list of personal lapse of judgement that will not be politicized. So for example if the media reports that yet another MP is having an affair, just have the guy explain the situation for transparancy and then carry on with business. Honestly speaking, adultery is a highly personal and complex issue that in itself is not a sackable offence. Bill Clinton was a tiko and a good President. If we are going to demand exceptionally high moral standards from office bearers, we are going to have BE every other year, and I think it is a waste of time that only excites internet trolls. Opinions?
  22. Hey guys, my 92' Swift has started to overheat recently. Thus far the needle hasn't hit the H mark yet, but as my usual temp is about 1/3 of the way past the Cold mark, this worries me. Yesterday evening in bad start-stop traffic in town, I saw the needle spike up several times to almost the H zone. Luckily it behaved itself later the entire way home on the CTE, maintaining its usual 1/3 reading. Less than 1hr ago though, I drove to the Library in my neighborhood and when I'd almost reached my home carpark after, I saw the needle spike up again to almost 3/4 mark or so, then it went back to normal. I'm quite worried, does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? I recently changed my water pump and flushed/replaced coolant when i did my timing belt, oil change. I left the upper and lower radiator hoses unchanged though, and they do seem a bit worn out to me when I check now. Could this be the case? Or could it possibly be the quality of coolant that the mech suppplied me with? Finally I have a spare radiator with me, should I just get it changed? Really appreciate all advise, cheers!
  23. Folks, recently my car had a loud screeching sound at the engine compartment. Looking into the engine bay I realize that the sound will be heard when the compressor kicks in. I went to Mark Cool to get an opinion. A mechanic attended to me and said that my compressor rotating disc is loose and caused the sound. As Mark Cool is a recommended workshop , I agree with him to change to a recon compressor costing $350. However, the sound did not go away. Upon asking the mechanic, he said it is due to a faulty camshaft pulley. My gripe is this. He now know that the actual problem is the camshaft pulley and not the compressor. Should not he refund me the repair cost as I am being charged for repairs that do not solve the problem. Please advice.
  24. My Altis is due for servicing, not sure if minor or major, can I forgo since the car is going for scrap in Oct?
