  2. Recently, when we read about news on COE price, we always heard car dealers said many people stuck with 10 years loan and if they want to change their ride, they must top up in order to get ride of their old ride. This mean the car trade in price is lower than the loan Is it true? Please vote accordingly. Thanks.

  5. saw this from Subaruforum ... hope he can recover his car asap... Dear brothers, I seek your brotherly help! I own a blue WRX. Two months ago, my itchy fingers and brain allowed me to rent my car. As the deal was way past due, she keeps saying she will return me but has yet to do. I have already lodged a police report and whoever the driver is driving without authorisation and my car is classified as stolen! My car is a Blue WRX SGB5379G with high spoiler and replica Dark Bronze Rays Rims. The most obvious trademark of my car is a grey unpainted pair of foglight cover with a pink STI sticker! If you see the car, please call 96532313 Raihan (Please take down my number). If you doubt my genuine story and worried that i might be trying to steal another brother's, i will be more than happy to meet up with you with all my car logcard and insurance certificates prior to seeing my car. With sincere thanks!!! http://www.subaruclubsg.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12033

  7. It's usual sunday and most wet markets are packed with peoples doing marketing for the week. No exception for parking spaces as most car parks are full and vehicles waiting for their turns. But this unique premium cab is one step better by occupying 2 lots in a MSCP off Lor 6, Toa Payoh. This so call "premium" cabs drivers are supposed to be good drivers with excellence records so as to project good image of SG to tourist but show its ugly side when comes side by side with fellow Singaporean. It was a very selfish act of the cab driver for occupying 2 lots knowning that sunday is a day where most marketing is done and car parks around the market are always full. This driver need to be send for a parking re-test. I purposely leave the taxi number on the picture so as any member of MCF who by profession, drives the same kind of taxi from the same company, please inform the driver of his selfish act on sunday at MSCP off Lor 6, Toa Payoh. (Lor 7 wet market)
  8. Hallo everybody... My mileage is now at 11K KM+, and has been using stock spark plug till now. So now I am thinking of changing the plug soon. any side effect of using it for a few more days? My friend told me that for NA car, doesn't need to use high end spark plug as it doesn't fully utilities its performance fully. True or not? for non high end type, what's the cost plus labour? My ride uses 4 plugs. All recommendations are highly appreciated. TIA again.
  9. I am on the search for a good feel tyre for my Geely. The stock tyre came on the car is absolutely useless. Its hard and does not feel grippy. In my multistorey carpark, my tyre always spin on the upslope. This is most apparent when the car drives over some water from the washing bay, which overflow onto the carpark floor. I asked my friends and they say since Geely is a cheap family car, there is no need for performance tyres. Hmmm....this car also cruise at 90km/hr, so if other cars need good tyres, why not Geely? Some suggested that my camber is set wrongly and tyre contact patch may not be 100%. But I visually see the tyre is indeed 100% on the ground, and also the 'wet thread' markings on the floor shows 100% tyre surface area in contact with floor. So that ar So what is a good tyre for a Geely? Is it 'worth' it to buy performance tyres since its the only contact with the ground, only the best will do? Will it be any overkill? Is there a difference in tyre choice between a Geely that is usually driven at 90-100km/hr vs a BMW/WRX that is also usually driven at 90-100km/hr?
  10. Hi all: My Pioneer 9650 automated front panel do not want to open up anymore making the whole set unusable anymore. Its a export set and repair fee at the service centre should be quite high as advised. BTW its about a year old only. Just want to know if there is any shops around which is able to repair the set at a lower price? Any recommendation? Thanks

  13. I just bought a set of MB Quart Discus Series 6.5 inch component speaker with titanium tweeters and crossover. Need some advice on how to setup/connect my HU, amps and speakers. I am using the following in my Aveo Hatchback: 1) Alpine 9853 touch sliding HU with built in 7 band eq, time correction, 3 RCA pre-out(front, rear, sub). 2) Cadence CEQ770 7 band Parametric Equaliser with subwoofer control. 1 RCA input, 3 RCA output (rear, front, sub). 3) AudioBank M5 monoblock amp 1300w max, 1 X 350w at 4 ohm. 4) Cadence 12 inch single coil subwoofer 300w rms at 4 ohm, 650w peak in a DIY 1.25 cubic feet box. 5) 4.5 inch front door stock component speaker wit 1 inch tweeter mounted in A pillar, 20w rms, 40w peak 4 ohm. (selling away) 6) 4 X 6 inch speaker at rear above boot. (remain driven by my HU now) 7) 6.5 inch component speaker with 1 inch tweeter and crossover 50w rms, 120w peak. Is it better to buy 1 X 4 channel amp or 2 X 2 channel amp? I need at least a 2 channel amp now to drive my MB Quart front component. But if I add a 6 X 9 speaker in the rear, I need the other 2 channel. I got friends telling me that 4 channel amp always have noise, and its better to get 2 X 2 channel amp. So which is better? Also in order to use my time correction function in my HU, do I need to use all the 3 RCA pre-out from my HU? If I need to use all 3 pre out, then I need 2 X 2 channel, bcos if I use 1 X 4 channel, I will not be able to use both the HU front and rear RCA output right? I am currently using only the HU front RCA pre-out to connect to the preamp's RCA input and the pre amp output the RCA to supply to my monoblock amp. My new speaker haven connect yet. Planning to leave the rear 4X6 inch connected to HU and install a amp to power the new front speaker. So 4 or 2 channel amp? CEQ770 still needed? So how should I connect, should I use my Cadence CEQ770 or take it out from my system? Any good 4 channel amp abt 75-110w rms per channel? I was quoted Helix amp at 4 X75w rms at 4 ohm for $500 including installation of my front component speaker, is it ex? Is the amp good?
  14. asking all the ice gurus.....what isthe use of amplifiers how do we know if we need one....thxs
  15. Hi Guys, I'm new to this forum. My colleague's 2yr+ car have this very bad idling problem and the car sounds like a boxer-engine (tuk..tuk..tuk... tuk..) with the whole engine vibrating vigorously, it's even worst when the a/c is on. When driving, you can really feel the whole car vibrating with the engine very badly with the feeling of running on 3plugs instead of 4.I was told that it might be due to the Ignition coil, cable or sparkplug. Any one can share their advise and also when to get the spare parts? We thinking of DIY troubleshooting as lack of $$$, maybe start with the sparkplug cables and sparkplug, if it doesn't work, then we will look into the coil. I was quoted around 600-700 bucks as there might be more then meets the eyes. Thanks in advance
  16. haa.....many of us are smarter LONDON - Speaking Mandarin may take more brainpower than speaking English, the BBC reports. It says researchers in Britain have found that people who speak Mandarin use both sides of their brain to understand the language whereas English-language speakers need to use only one side of their brain. Advertisement http://ads.asia1.com.sg/image.ng/Params.richmedia=yes&site=tsti&size=300X250 The researchers said the findings could boost understanding of how the brain processes languages. This in turn could one day help scientists develop better ways of aiding people to relearn languages after a stroke or similar damage to the brain. In the study done by Dr Sophie Scott and her colleagues at the Wellcome Trust, brain scans were carried out on a group of Mandarin and English speakers. It was found that the left temporal lobe, which is located by the left temple, became active whenever English speakers heard English. The researchers believe that this area of the brain links speech sounds together to form individual words. When these people heard Mandarin, both the left and right temporal lobes became active. Dr Scott said: 'People who speak different sorts of languages use their brains to decode speech in different ways.' Mandarin is a notoriously difficult language to learn. Unlike English, speakers use tones to distinguish between different meanings of words. According to the BBC, the researchers believe that this need to interpret tones explains why Mandarin speakers have to use both sides of their brain. The right temporal lobe is normally associated with being able to process music or tones. 'We think that Mandarin speakers interpret intonation and melody in the right temporal lobe to give the correct meaning to the spoken words,' said Dr Scott. 'It seems that the structure of the language you learn as a child affects how the structure of your brain develops to decode speech. 'Native English speakers... find it extraordinarily difficult to learn Mandarin.' She said the findings could help scientists understand how the brain learns language, and this could also lead to new drugs to help people who have lost their language skills. 'There is evidence from other studies that certain drugs affect learning in the brain regions that support hearing and speech,' she said.
