  1. the entire front of the bus was smashed, and while you cant see it, the windows of the bus were all shattered and people were stuck in the bus ... >< not sure who hit whom...
  2. It is the annual Formula One race this weekend - for the sixth time. And if you're reading this, you would have known that the Singapore Grand Prix is the only night race in the entire race calendar. And that we will continue to have a taste of the high-octane event for the next five years (including the current). But with the race failing to keep up the passion for motorsports on our local grounds, how will things fare afterwards? The small nation has proven that it has the capacity to hold an event of such scale (and glamour). What's arguable lies in its ability to keep the passion running, and strong. Of course, being a small country has its disadvantages. For instance, we cannot simply rely on the locals to fill the seats, although that was never part of the equation. Hence, the need for more promotion on Rihanna and Justin Bieber rather than Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso. But by keeping the crowds entertained with different sort of actions (on the stage rather than neck-breaking, ear-piercing ones on the track), we do wonder if that is a good thing to do. Then again, what is the definition of a 'good' thing? All of us have different motives. The authorities want revenue and fame, the public - whatever that catches their attention, and motoring nuts - to keep the motorsports passion alive. We can go on and rant about the dying art, and how it wouldn't have made it if it went the orthodox way - pure, adrenaline-filled racing without the trackside 'distractions'. Let's, then, talk about the future. More night races to join the calender would diminish the edge we have over other races, which means we're running out of novelty. And less participation may just spell doom for the sports. Or maybe there isn't one here, for motorsports, to begin with.
  3. Do you often drive when nighttime falls? Well, my father, for one, quite so often does just that. And, if you do so, too, chances are you often find yourselves kind of blinded by the illumination of cars which are coming from the opposite lane. That's not to mention that there's a great number of cars that utilise Xenon bulbs these days, blinding you even more. However, the frequency of you getting blinded by oncoming traffic is about to decrease, thanks to the so-called 'Intelligent Headlamps' feature. This is an illumination technology that comes from highly reputable German automaker BMW. To be honest, this technology isn't entirely new as it was first introduced back in July last year. Back then, it was introduced exclusively for the BMW 7 Series. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't standard even on the really expensive models from BMW. Instead, customers who desired to have the feature available on their BMW 7 Series would have to purchase the optional Adaptive LED Headlamps package. Nevertheless, probably realising how its technology may actually decrease traffic accidents significantly, ultimately leading to saving a whole lot more people, the luxury German car manufacturer is now offering the technology on the company's new 3 Series Saloon and Touring lineups as well. You'll only have to make sure that the models do have a Visibility package available on them. So, what this feature does is it detects the situations of the road and traffic ahead and then adjusts the lighting that comes from the headlamps of BMW cars accordingly. This way, it prevents the lighting from blinding drivers from the oncoming lane. Not only will it prevent drivers on the oncoming lane from being blinded, it won't emit much glare to the driver ahead of you, either. With that being said, nighttime driving will surely become safer, by a significant degree. Simply put, the technology provides optimal illumination. To make things even better, this technology is useful not only during nighttime but also when the weather isn't very friendly. In order to work its charm, this feature has to work side-by-side with BMW's 'High-beam Assistant' technology. However, my words and words alone may not really give you any ideas on what on Earth I'm talking about. Therefore, I think you may want to check out the accompanying videos. That's even more so in case you happen to be planning to purchase a BMW yourself. BMW's Intelligent Headlamps with High-beam Assistant Real life demonstration
  4. From the page - https://www.facebook.com/SGCyclists?hc_location=stream ACCIDENT near Changi Village, outside Changi Air Base West Gate, on 28 May 2013 at about 10.30pm. Was having late dinner with family at Changi Village at about the same time as a group of cycling enthusiasts. The whole group was taking a break at the same makan place. They left several minutes earlier before we did. Just after we passed the Hindu Temple and approaching the Church (see Point A), we saw a smaller group of the cyclist guiding traffic and rendering whatever assistance they could to one of their fellow cyclist who was already on the pavement receiving first aid treatment by a paramedic of an Air Force ambulance. One of the cyclist could be seen holding the hand of his peer while trying to comfort him. There was also another person, who looked more like a motorcycle rider, on the pavement being attended to by another uniformed medical personnel of the Air Base. We also saw a dislodged car bumper next to the centre divider. As we drove further, we saw another subgroup of the cyclist standing by a motorcycle lying on the road (see point B on the map). The cyclists were also diverting traffic by flashing their bike lights. Soon we reached the traffic junction of Loyang Avenue and Loyang Way (see point C on the map). We saw a bigger subgroup of the cyclists who formed a circle around a car and a man who looked like its driver. The front part of the car was badly damaged with the middle portion of the bonnet looked pushed in as a result of an impact with something. The front windscreen of the car was also almost shattered. The car had also no front bumper. The man encircled by the cyclist looked troubled. The cyclist helped regulate traffic using their bike lights. SCDF Ambulance and a Police car passed the junction as we left the last scene. Here is a map showing what probably happened tonight by putting all the jigsaws together. We pray that the two casualties survive this horrific accident. Latest Updates: Just gotten updates from the cyclists, there were no cyclist involved in the accident. The other person was the pillion on the motorbike. The cyclist group rendered assistance at all three accident points.
  5. Hi guys, Need help w a late night worship to go to for servicing. Any to recommend near central area. My friends car seems to have a problem. Thanks!
  6. Hi, my relative is considering holding her wedding banquet at RWS as one of the options. We are worried whether the parking situation is horrendous on Saturday evening? We do want to make sure that the guests are not overly pissed off with the parking situation Is it as bad as MBS carpark? Thanks for any 1st person experience you might have.
  7. Anyone using Note 2, or for that matter any mobile phone as an in-car camera. How's the performance for use at night?
  8. Hi guys, Would want your comments on this. I'm sure many of you must have noticed that in public carparks they have a sign that states the rate per hour. In most carparks, they state that it's $1 per hour 7am to 10pm (outside CDB of course). a) Some then stated that Night parking is $2 from 10pm to 7am. b) Some state parking at night and public holidays and sundays is free (this is in Orange). c)Some don't state anything at all about night parking beyond 10pm. So my questions are : 1. For (a) If i don't park for the whole night, but just from 10 to 10.30pm can i place a 50 cent coupon? 2. For © do you need to place a coupon at all? If so then why don't they state it explicitly that is requred like in (a), and conversely if not, then why not be explicit like in (b)? If coupons are required, is it the 50 cent ones or the $2 ones? I tried writing to URA about this, and after 2 weeks of waiting, all they can ask is which car park i am refering to. As if this was the best avoid answering the question. No help at all. Share with me your thoughts.
  9. I was just wondering... what will you do if you want park at a carpark overnight but you don't have any night coupon with you....
  10. I think around 10-11pm.. Saw a mattress on lane 2. One car went over it, almost like going over a hump. Saw the car jumping up and down. PIE towards Changi after Lornie road to be exact..
  11. I've noticed that many HDB such as Potong Pasir (yet to have EPS gantry) and other HDB carparks which have EPS gantry implemented doing away with night parking for visitor. First noticed when i wanted park overnight at my friend's place at potong pasir for MJ......end up have to drive quite far away out of Potong Pasir HDB estates area to have night parking.....Zzzzz. Now my place at bukit batok just got implemented with EPS Parking gantry. Previous night parking for $4 still available but ever since the new EPS gantry......they removed night parking making it only for season parking. Punggol also another issue where no free parking on sunday & public holiday whole punggol.
  12. Around 11pm like that... the taxi front smashed and twice until jialat jialat... then got ambulance also... and I see broken glasses on the ground... as I am driving pass I dunno got how many vehicles kana.
  13. I was on the 2nd lane driving leisurely at 70kmh after a dinner night out...I saw you suddenly appearing beside me...can see your handsome face with your chio gf looking at me la...my windows were winded down and I could hear your loud loud exhaust...the next thing you let me hear was your psst psst sound from your Blow-off valve indicating to me that your Vios is equipped with a turbo (how big or small I dunno la) Then you gave me a smile and then quickly slowed down and came behind my car...could hear you kp revving your engine and letting me hear your HKS SQV BOV sound...your distance was so close to me that I think I can even see your shiny white teeth. Maybe you think my humble little Rex is a TS poser due to my (stock bodykit and stock exhaust) or you were dying to show off to your gf that your car can makan any cars...whatever the reason, even if you makan me for breakfast, lunch and dinner I also don't care cos my stomach is still digesting the large amount of food that I had devoured only 15min ago and also not interested to play any stupid games with you...at least not on our Singapore roads. In the end, I let you tailgate me at 70kmh for the next 10min or so....until I think you bui tahan and zoomed past me with a black face...sry to disappoint you mate! Pls la...wanna prove something, go prove it on the track la. And btw, your plastic-looking GT wing looks rather ugly...imho... Anyone has similar encounters before? Not the first time for me though.

  20. 15 burglaries. $30,300 worth of loot. Places attacked at night include homes, a childcare centre and one religious organisation. No one would have guessed that the burglar's day job would be a police officer. Yesterday, staff sergant Mohamed Faisal Mohamed Yusoff pleaded guilty to five counts of housebreaking and theft. The judge considered the other ten similar charges, and sentenced the officer to 5 years' jail for burglaries carried out between last August and this February. According to The Straits Times report, Mohamed Faisal broke into the properties by using a screwdriver to prise open windows and sliding doors. The Sunshine Tots and Kids childcare centre in Frankel Avenue and homes in Geylang, Siglap and Paya Lebar were some of the locations he hit. The court was told the officer broke into the premises of Shalom Singapore religious organisation at midnight. Mohamed Faisal took $2,000 from the donation box, three gold bracelets and three gold anklets from a drawer. However. his biggest haul and downfall took place in an unlocked house along Mountbatten Road. He made off with $6,900 worth of valuables, including $2,400 in cash, two laptops, an iPad and its charger. Police were called when the owner returned home to find his items missing. Investigations led to Mohamed Faisal's subsequent arrest. The court was not told Mohamed Faisal's motive, but he had expressed regret for his actions in his written mitigation. The officer was attached to the divisional intelligence branch of the Central Police Division headquarters. According to The Straits Times report, he is believed to have been suspended from duty since his arrest. Mohamed Faisal's five-year jail sentence was backdated to when he was held in custody - Feb 26. He could have faced a jail term of up to 14 years and a fine of up to $10,000. 23. This show was good showing the cooks going to china isolated village to cook a feast. By last Monday show was about two sisters from china traveling for the first time to Singapore to visit the cooks/chefs. I watched and felt that the programme is putting a bad light onto the sisters. Making fun and showing their Sua-ku emotions in a very bad light. This quan yifeng, even laugh and suan the two sisters so much, that I feel sad for the two sisters. I am sure the editors and producers can edit it better to present them in a more sensible manner. I am going to watch tonight episode to see how yifeng is going to suan these foreign visitors.
