  1. Looking much sleeker and more refined, Nissan's all new Sylphy has been revealed at the Shanghai Auto Show featuring the family's V-motion design at the front. According to Nissan, the new exterior design has allowed the new Sylphy to boast a drag coefficient of just 0.26, equal to that of the Nissan GT-R. Powertrain details have yet been released but the Japanese company did mention that it will be using its new HR16DE Gen 3 intelligent drive engine mated to an Xtronic transmission. The current Sylphy uses a similar but older variant of the same engine and makes around 114bhp. Inside, the car looks more upmarket than its predecessor with the black and tan leather combination. Top-specced cars get an 8-inch infotainment screen while speedometer cluster now features a 7-inch digital gauge cluster. Elsewhere new technologies built into the car include Intelligent Trace Control, Intelligent Ride Control, and Emergency Brake for Pedal Misapplication. There’s also Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Cross Traffic Alert, and Intelligent Driving Alert.
  2. Any Nissan Serena owners here? Can't find any reviews locally and don't think I've seen any on our roads though I think a few of this has already been delivered to their new owners. There's 2 versions. The Comfort version is more affordable with manual sliding doors and original fabric seats. The Highway Star version comes with body kit, power sliding doors and locally fitted leather seats. Interesting flexible seat configurations between 7-8 seaters. So far no other locally available MPV has it according to my knowledge. However, the center seat in the second row may not be comfortable. This is the Highway Star version
  3. Hi all not sure if anyone has any experience in this. 1. i found through a relative's acquaintance and am ready to buy over a used 370Z in full cash. 2. Seller still have outstanding loan of about 35k with a bank and is unable to clear the loan before he sell the car. 2a. He request that i clear the loan for him first, i can pay direct to the bank with purchase agreement signed by both parties. hes ok for me to withold his balance payment until the transfer is complete. 2b. He is ok to start the process to transfer on LTA end, but it wont go through unless the bank also effect the release to LTA, bank says will take about 1-2 days upon full payment. 2c. relative is not sure/ cant grantee this person's character. Some risky scenario here; 1. He may run road after i clear the loan for him 2. Not sure how man in blue view such private agreement 3. i am ok to to seek my own legal recourse if thing go south, but the fees may not be worthwhile for this deal i have called one of the site sponsors here, wasnt very helpful, she mentioned they are jus "facilitator", in short my interest wont be protected. Previously when i buy used cars i will jus buy ask for transfer on the spot, also will verify the shop indeed owns the car and not thru some 3rd party. i am not desperate for this car as this wont be my primary car but i do have some personal sentiments to this model and this model is very few in the market now, its hard to find one with good condition n known background. i been searching for sometime. Will you proceed ?
  4. It is rumored that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Renault have resumed talks to revive its potential merger. Its merger plan failed a couple of weeks ago and FCA blamed the French government for it. According to Reuters, Nissan wants Renault to significantly reduce its 43.4% stake in return for its support of a $48billion merger between FCA and Renault. In the article, FCA chairman John Elkann and Renault chairman Jean-Dominique Senard have been holding talks about continuing the negotiation, but both companies are refusing to comment on the reports officially. A senior advisor from FCA, Toby Myerson was also spotted at the Nissan headquarters in Japan for discussions with top management and would have likely include Nissan Chief Executive Hiroto Saikawa. Also in the article, it explained that the Nissan head has long believed that its alliance with Renault needed “re-balancing”. This is because Nissan is much larger than Renault but it only holds a 15% stake in the French automaker and no voting rights, while Renault owns 43.4% of Nissan. The French government has since responded, willing to reduce its 15% stake in Renault in an effort to see the merger come to fruition, but only if that would benefit both FCA and the Alliance in general.
  5. The French government has been blamed for the failure of Renault and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles's proposed merger. But it disagrees. It only took 10 days for the merger to fail as Reuters reported that the French government, which has a 15% stake in Renault, took things overboard by demanding a series of guarantees and concessions that were deemed excessive by FCA. A French government official then called FCA's Chairman John Elkann to persuade him to reconsider the offer but was rejected still. According to French finance minister Bruno Le Maire, the government engaged in the negotiations constructively but they weren’t ready to commit without the consensuses of Renault’s partner, Nissan. Meanwhile, Nissan's said that it would be neutral on the merger proposal. The article went on to say that the people in FCA was actually fine with Nissan's stance and put the blame on the French government for the collapse of the deal.

  8. SINGAPORE - Motor group Tan Chong is shutting down its Nissan showroom in Bukit Timah after being there for nearly four decades. The last motor facility in the area, the showroom was opened in 1982. The home-grown motor group, listed in Hong Kong, said it is closing its showroom because of "falling footfall", referring to declining number of customers visiting the Bukit Timah address. It will instead focus on its two other showrooms in Ubi and Leng Kee, sites of Singapore's two "motor belts". Mr Ron Lim, head of sales and marketing at Tan Chong Motor, said: "We review our operations from time to time to ensure that our resources are optimised. In line with the reduction in COE quotas, we have seen a fall in showroom traffic at Bukit Timah and we have decided to consolidate Nissan's showroom operations at Leng Kee and Ubi. "Our service centre at Bukit Timah will continue to serve customers. "

  14. Yes, the Nissan GT-R gets another round of refreshing, with the Nismo variant even more hardcore than its predecessor. Shown at the New York Auto Show, the king of the GT-R range gets a number of revisions but does not get an increase in horsepower (600bhp). That said, its turbochargers have been refined and now feature a modified turbine shape and fewer blades. Interestingly, they are the same ones found in the GT-R GT3 race car and are programmed to provide the same amount of boost. Meanwhile the six-speed dual-clutch transmission have been blessed with new software, improving the adaptive shift control and a more refined ‘R’ mode. Its titanium exhaust system has also been revised. In order to extract more speed out of it, Nissan has tried removing some weight and they have succeeded by shedding 20kg of weight with newer components and parts. In addition, the new carbon fiber bumpers, front fenders, hood, roof, side sill covers, trunk and rear spoiler add up to another 10.5kg worth of weight savings. Eagle-eyed readers might notice the new front fenders are now similar to those found in the GT-R GT3 race car. They are said to end hot air away from the engine bay and smooth the airflow along the body. More weight shavings come in the form of the new 20-inch RAYS forged aluminum that are wrapped in new Dunlop tyres that features a wider tread and fewer grooves, increasing contact patch by 11% Handling wise, the suspension has also been revised with enhanced yaw rate response, while the steering rack is also improved, offering more linearity and precision than before. Lastly, new and larger Brembo carbon ceramic rotors, 410mm at front and 390mm at the rear are claimed to be more durable and stronger than ever.

Nissan starts rebuilding RB26 engine blocks

Last year, Nismo, Nissan's performance division, announced that said it would begin reproducing parts for some heritage models. And now we have some more good news for the Nissan enthusiasts. The Japanese company has just announced that it will expanding its heritage parts support even further by putting its legendary RB26 engine back into production. Born in the golden age of the 1980s and 1990s, the engine can be found in the R32 till R34-generation of the Skyline GT-R. With the ability to withstand significant power upgrades (more than 800bhp) from bolt-ons without the need for any significant internal modifications, the engine is a favourite among Japanese sports car enthusiasts and tuners. With the latest expansion of its restoring program, Nismo has further support for the R32 generation Skyline by being able to reproduce RB26 parts such as the actual short block and head. It is also reproducing the original engine harness, fuel pump assembly. Elsewhere, you can also buy a new roof and three-quarter panels too.
  17. Nissan believes that price difference between (Electric Vehicles )EVs and non-EVs will be gone in the early years of the next decade. In a study conducted by Morgan Stanley, Nissan pointed out that EVs will reach price parity with normal gasoline vehicles in 2024. In fact, Nissan reckons it might even happen earlier than that. Speaking with Car Advice, Nissan’s global head of electric vehicles Nic Thomas said, "They estimate in 2024, in Europe, so where you have European emission regulations, you’ll get a crossover where batteries will come down below US$100 per kilowatt hour, and the price of NOx and CO2 and these things which is driving up the price of petrol and diesel engines will crossover,” “We’re actually more confident than that. We see in the products we’re developing for the early 2020s, we would expect to see that crossover. There are many different factors involved in that. What that means is that the product we might be able to launch in the early 2020s will be a beneficiary of that lower price.” That said, while batteries might be getting cheaper as more are produced, the raw natural materials like nickel and lithium are still subjected to market changes, possibly hindering the cost of battery production falling.

  21. Pickup trucks in America are one of the popular choices in the American car industry. Not just American car makers, Japanese like Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Mazda has also entered this market segment, without or with failures. Even continental brands like Mercedes Benz is trying to enter this market with it's new X calss, which has not been introduced in the North American market yet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pickup_truck Once a work tool with few creature comforts, in the 1950s consumers began purchasing pickups for lifestyle reasons and by the 1990s less than 15 percent of owners reported use in work as the pickup truck's primary purpose.Today in North America, the pickup is mostly used like a passenger car and accounts for about 18 per cent of total vehicles sold in the US. While in the United States and Canada most pickup trucks are used primarily for passenger transport, agriculture, and commercial uses, pickups are also used in law enforcement, the military, fire services, and for pickup truck racing, a form of auto racing using modified versions of pickups mostly onoval tracks. Race pickup trucks are mechanically similar to coupé-shaped stock cars. 25. Want to buy a car. Found a good deal, but the dealership is 2 far from me. I can transfer a car to my area, but not ready to visit the dealership several times, have no time. They sent me a vehicle history report, pretty good grades. Tons of car photos and one short video. Also my brother in law bought there a 2010 Tacoma, didn't complain (but they moved so he can't help). Now a dealership offers me to test drive a car online via some app called LVS. I want to try because driving 200 miles for a test drive - no thanks. I think I can get necessary info from an online test drive, at least I could hear how engine works and stuff. Has anyone had such an experience? Is it safe and modern or I've lost my mind? Thanks in advance!
